I'm using the Swiftkey X Keyboard and sometimes the SlideIT Keyboard.
I love both keyboards and i couldnt get a decision which is better.
Try it!

Thumb and a.I. keyboard

I use Swype but have tried all the above mentioned on smaller screens...still can't make up my mind which is better though...

Keep switching between swift key and thumb keyboard myself. Slide it is also really nice.

Swype is great after mastering the short learning curve!

SlideIT is the best for me
Patos via tapatalk.

For people like me that often write in more than one languange (English and Spanish for example) SwiftKey Tablet X (or Swiftkey X) is simply the best keyboard for any device because you don't have to keep switching languages while you type, it auto detects and corrects on any language (up to three) at the same time!

I did read that there are not many themes and for Spanish are some issues with ñ character, any comments?
Both really stop my buy.

Is it possible with Swiftkey to use it only with particular apps? The default one to stay as primery and to use Swiftkey only with specific apps?

I installed touchpal, and seems like it is not scaled properly, i.e., the keys are sided to the left, instead of taking up all the horizontal span, can you tell me how to make it take up all the space? Plus, it also seems when pressing on a word that wasn't in the dictionary doesn't bring up the option to save it, can you point me to the solution(s)? Thanks ps: I'm using ics build from the chinese leak...

You can use any keyboard you have installed. Touch and hold anywhere in the writing area and choose your preferred input method. It will remain until you change it again in the same way.

Im using kingdroid rom and the keyboard came with the rom, try to swap rom...

I'm using imilka's AOSP rom, and I have the same problem with TouchPal. But I have to mention that I have the tablet interface and I changed the display density. And I'm guessing that's causing the problem! So I was wondering if you've changed the display density too? I really like TouchPal but I can't use it with the keys sided to the left!

Best alternate keyboard for someone with big hands?

Howdy all,
Im a larger guy and I was wondering what the consensus was on the best alternate keyboard for someone with big hands? I find the stock kb on the x10 always has me hitting other buttons because they are so skinny.

I say this to anyone who has a hard time using the generic keyboard. Use Swype. As long as your finger motions are correct and intentional, you will spell the correct word. It becomes easier for larger words since it autocorrects.Try swype, it is actually faster that using a qwerty keyboard once you get use to it.

I prefer gb keyboard over the samsung keyboard, so hopefully someone has already tried it.

Use to use it exclusively even on 2.2. I have since moved on to Thumb Keyboard and haven't looked back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056976
What I do love about the GB keyboard is that it doesn't use the whole screen if it doesn't need it. Something I have always hated about the Samsung keyboard is that even in the Google search widget, you click to type and !!BAM!! whole screen keyboard.
Found the answer myself. Got it from android market. Problem solved

I just ran into TSwipe-Pro. The theory is the same as Swipe, but it moves the letters to the right side of the screen and adds a 3x3 cursor control on the left side. Actually works pretty good as the distance to Swipe is reduced. I think it shows real promise. It also includes quite a few different keyboard layout options. So you can set up a right shifted "swipe" on portrait and a thumb keboard on landscape.

I just tried the latest beta version thumb keyboard...I liked the layout variations for 7" tablets. They were great.
Only one prob though, there were no language variants for the keyboard layout. I was unable to get the ä and ö although I was able to use the Finnish dictionary...is this the case or was this just a user error?
I tried Best Keyboard, but stopped on GB keyboard with English and Russian dictionaries.
I don't like Swype and not mentally ready for 8pen ;-).

Keyboards for the Sensation

Is their a better keyboard for this phone? I really dont like the ones it comes with. Also what about the spell checker? Is that part of the keyboard program?
What ones are you using?

I tried all the rest, used Swype for a year, then switched to SwiftKey. Best keyboard hands down. You won't regret it. Free beta on the market.

For me and for now I use the flext9, which is powered by dragon. But I already paid for it a while ago. But I suggest use what others have already said. Try the beta swype for yourself and see if you like it. I have used swype and would get pissed at it when it got buggy...yes I know its a beta , but I would go to another kb. The GB kb is great for a plain jane kb, also, swiftkey X beta works well too.
If I were you, I would try all the free versions of kbs, starting with the most popular to what you like and narrow it down from there.
Smart Keyboard Pro. I've had it since my Nexus one days, and it's still the best.
Thanks everyone, I will check them all out after work today.
I wouldnt mind also trying a new browser, any suggestions? I know a little bit of whats out there but still learing.
Thanks again everyone.
only swype ... still best //

Indeed. I used to type like this using t9 on my old Sony Ericsson w800i. Swype gives you quite the same feelings.
Anyways, pretty interesting experience so far. @Droid.. I would suggest you to give it another shot. It might be hard for the first time but it's fun afterwards.

had to constantly fix words that it autocompleted/suggested.

Love Swype.
It also works as a 'tappy' keyboard which is great for times when I'm not likely to have enough coordination to squiggle in an appropriate line for my words

I'm currently using tablet version and only think with (sometimes) wrong size are suggestions, on short words only since the font size decreases on longer words.

I am aware that I can choose different layout but as I get used to it I find it more easier to use. My passwords consists of various numbers and letters and I find it easier to type as the numeric keys are present on the same screen
On Swiftkey X I decreased the long press to 250ms from 500ms so I just have to hold the letter for a split second to get a number. It's pretty fast.
