Is anyone else experiencing issues with the Nexus 5 dialer?
Whenever I launch the dialer and hit the bottom bar to bring up the buttons, I just got a frozen screen with a white bar at the bottom.
If I hit back and try again, then the dialer numbers come up.
Anyone else seeing this?

I too have this problem. It is really annoying.
I don't have this use?

nope
I can reproduce this every time I hit the dialer button after clearing the app data for Google Dialer. Although this happens to me randomly too.
Another dialer problem.

Anything over zero makes the problem go away.

Good that you solved it but at least let people know that you've done all these mods

I noticed that my screen will flash sometimes when I am sending a text message. Has anyone else had this problem?
I really hope this wasn't posted already, I did try searching for something related.

yes, i've noticed the same thing. plus font sizes changing randomly on their own. lots of bugs with the stock messaging app. makes it rather annoying to use imo.
Have you tried a different app to see if it solves the problem?

yeah, i'm currently running the stock ICS messaging app from the market. it does not flash so it is most certainly an independent problem for the HTC messaging app.

that doesn't alleviate the problem.
edit: i'm about to go back to the stock HTC one though because the LED flash sometimes won't turn off on the stock ICS one. this devices software is all kindsa borked.
I havent really had any other problems beside the data dropping once and a while imo solid device

No big complaints here either. Loving this phone!
I'm sure all these little bugs will be fixed soon enough.

I actually joined just to respond to this thread.
The other issue I'm running into in addition to the changing font sizes and flickering keyboard (which I think might be somewhat related) is an occasionally mis-colored status bar. When I say "occasionally", I mean that when I reboot my phone, there's a 50/50 chance it'll be wrong.
When it does mess up, here's what happens:
In other apps, the status bar is black or transparent black (correct).
In the messaging app text screen, it's a light gray (wrong).
In the messaging app text screen, if I slide or touch the status bar, it's black (correct).
In the messaging app at the conversation screen, it's black again (correct).
I thought maybe it was because I was using a non-standard keyboard, but I've tried both the stock HTC Sense keyboard and Smart Keyboard Pro and they both have the same issue.
Also, just for clarification, when I say "flicker" I don't mean the screen corruption seen on some of the other devices. I mean that for a brief instance, every section of the screen that should be black or dark grey (the status bar, the menu bar, and the keyboard) become a light grey color before flashing back to their correct color. It only lasts about 1/5th a second, but the sudden color change is really noticeable.

I have been experiencing this problem now as well. The font does randomly change. I will set it on medium and sometimes it will be on small or be larger when I go back into the app.
I am also starting to receive text messages twice now. It only happens when I haven't been texting the person for awhile, and it's only their first text. Has anyone else experienced this?

Having the same problem! really annoying!!! Was not how Nexus 4 was or any other phone I have used. There have been settings on some dialers of what to do after hanging up, like return to dialer, return to call log or home screen. None on this built apparently.

Try wiping play store app data.
I tried wiping the just the general play store data before and it didn't fix the issue. Just wiped all play related data: magazine, books, etc and it solved the issue. Thanks

i had the exact same issue, or more precisely :
I receive or pass a call. then, instead of going to the "in call" screen with the big red "hang up" button, i'm back to the home screen...
now this can happen, if i press the home button, but i don't. And if that was that, then first i would have the small "phone" logo in the upper left notification telling me i'm currently in call, and the "in call" screen would be accessible from the task manager, however the task manager displays absolutely nothing.... just like i wasn't making any call at all, except i can hear the person on the other side in my speaker.
Then i click on the big blue phone logo to get to the dialer screen, but i then get a screen which i never had before, with a black transparent background, proposing me to either use the default keyboard (if i click it i get the keyboard), either to "return to current call", and when i click it, i'm back to the homescreen... so the only way to hang up is to shut the phone down...
it's happened to me twice yesterday, but never before....
PS: just so we might find a common app that would cause the issue, i have installed on my N5 these apps :
dashclock
file manager
prochain bus
ridiculous fishing
sygic
today calendar
vlc
and thats all. Any of you have some apps in common ?
I also had the same issue during the first week or so...but with tym and aftr update the issue vanished!! Since 2014 i nvr faced this issue again!!

Different Dialer problem
Hi,
I am rooted running beanstalk. But before flashing had stock rom then Purity.
This problem happened after flashing Purity ROM.
When I make or receive a call, my screen goes blank and I cannot do,anything to wake the phone, unless the other party ends the call and then the screen may wake up if I touch the screen?!
Anyone else, please help.

Exact same issue here. No app in common... Did you manage to fix it ?
Fixed mine by turning off developer options and then rebooting
Loving my N5. Its so much faster than my S4 GPE. Has anyone else experienced this hangouts bug?
If I have a conversation in hangouts (both sms or gchat threads), when I send my message, the chat area does not scroll down to expose the message i just sent; it stays concealed until I scroll down manually or another message comes in or is sent.
Does anyone else have this behavior? if not, what troubleshooting steps would you recommend?
I performed all updates and rooted with CF auto. Otherwise, no material changes. I turned off animations.(tried turning it back on, did not solve the problem)
i have this also, crazy annoyin
I have the same issue with Hangouts on my GS2. I'm running 4.2 so I'm not sure if it's the same Hangouts version or not. I have noticed that when I get new messages (multiple), it will make me manually swipe from the bottom to refresh one message at a time. I thought this might have been a new feature to keep people from missing messages when there are several unread. I do agree though, it's kind of annoying when you have to swipe through like 20 new messages, one at a time.
Yup I too notice the same issue..
Man its annoying

Guessing you have developer options enabled? Go there and set all the animation scales to at least 0.5

Set the animation again to 0.5 or above, and make sure you kill Hangouts before you try again. I had the same issue, and it would not detect the change in animation until you reset.

It works withh the 0.5 animation effect on. But still, it has to work regardless of my settings. Don't you think?
App drawer redraws or something like that , Here's the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV0zYBVFauo
Now in this video, when I click on app drawer icon and fastly go back to home and click on that icon again, drawer redraws. When I simply and easily click and don't do it fastly, nothing happens. It's all good. What is wrong with that? I'm using Novalauncher but this is happening on Google Now Launcher aswell. But the interesting thing is when I go to safe mode of Nexus 5, this doesn't happpen. So most probably and app is doing this but there are so many apps I have, It will take days to figure out which is causing this. Anyone else had this bug and can tell me how they resolved it ?
One other Bug is "recent apps". When I click the recents button, an app or a screen comes and vanishes.. I don't know how to describe it and I don't even know how to reproduce it. If someone know what I'm talking about, let me know.
bump
bump
The 2nd issue which you are referring to is a known bug on KitKat... It happens on each n every roms/launchers that I've used...
About the redraw thing... You are a better judge of what you've got on your mobile... May be the LMT launcher/slim pie is causing it to redraw... Did you try using navigation bar and see whether it happens??

So far, my P7P has been problem free, barring a few minor niggles. Is it just me, or anyone else faced the same, found a fix etc? 100% factory stock, no root, mods etc
- can't quick reply from the notification panel.
If there's a message i can respond to and click reply, the type message bar appears, but the keyboard does not.
No problem clicking the notification to open the app and respond.
- Using gestures, pulling up from the bottom to bring up the recents switcher, the keyboard goes haywire, nonstop opening and closing.
- I've lived in my current home for about 3 years and worked in my office for about 8 years, and not had issues on my previous devices. I keep missing calls, and get notification SMS from my provider that I've missed calls. I see at least 5 or 6 of these daily, and never had this problem before. Even if I call from my wife's phone that's right next to mine, it won't connect and soon after, i get an SMS notification that I missed the call. Is this a radio issue? Software issue?
Thanks

Have you tried a factory reset?
Try wiping the data of your keyboard. Sounds like something may be up with it there
Has it always done that? Are you using GBoard beta or anything else? Could just be a certain update version as well.
As for the radio issues, no problem here where I live. I'd recommend trying a factory reset, or maybe even trying the Android Beta Program for a test drive.

2. must be a software problem with the keyboard. No problems here with stock or SwiftKey keyboard.
3. everything is the same as before. Signal and reception is comparable to my previous Xiaomi Phone

one more thing I have seen somebody posting here:
"I've found dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting all the network options has helped me. It was limited to only NR/LTE/TDWCDMA by default for some reason on the second beta. Haven't had an issue since doing that and updating sim manager."
Maybe try another setting like LTE only or similar.
Cleared data for keyboard as suggested by @Curiousn00b and the keyboard issue in recents screen are gone, however still can't respond in the notification panel.
Will try the beta with root as it seems only I have these issues
