Try to pinch out at the corner of the screen, because when you touch the center, it goes into setting. if you touch any part of the screen that doesn't trigger setting, zoom will work there.

Same.... no zoom

For a second I thought I was on a Nexus S thread
For those who remember...

Zoom doesn't seem to work in HDR+ mode, but in other modes it works as described above

Well I would think you might get better response from posting your question in the CM7 thread. Just a friendly suggestion.
Mine doesn't focus when I move image of a water bottle closer to the camera. I can't read the letters.

do you guys have focus set to continues?
If not it will only focus when you touch the screen.

Best AOSP/CM7 camera app

So, how 'bout it? What's your favourite non-sense, aosp/CM7 compatible camera app?

Does that app do full screen 8mp pictures?
On a side note, my camera has stopped working right.. When I take a picture it just freezes at the preview and doesn't save. Very weird..

Yes, it does. It is an option in settings to render at full MP. It is also only 10 cents today on market.

Yeah the best one for gingerbread definitely.
Just going to bump this thread in case anyone has any more suggestions?
I want to use aosp roms, but find myself preferring the sense camera, and so am looking for a good alternative to use on CM9/AOKP.
For ICS you try Camera ICS+ or LGCamera - no better alternatives yet.
What I am really looking for is a camera app that has the full-screen preview (as opposed to using about 1/4 of the screen to contain one button (shutter button), which results in images that are full screen on the phone as well. Unless my settings are wrong, when I choose 8MP in CameraZoom FX, the images are not full screen when I see them in the Gallery.
Is there a camera app which produces uncompressed (high quality) images, as there is for Sense ROMs?

Camera - any way to manually focus?

When working with the camera, sometimes the autofocus seems fickle and does not get the focus good. Is there any way I can do manual focus? Do I need another app for that?
Thanks

Yes just touch the screen when you are in the camera app. A small white box will appear and you can manually focus.

So long as he's using the stock Camera app!
No...he wants to set the focus distance by putting values like 5 cm, 6 cm or so...
This feature is mostly found in LG's cam appz

Shooting in the dark?

Has anyone else noticed that the camera is pretty useless when shooting in the dark?
The flash does not come on before the picture is taken, so the camera does not have time to focus. All the pictures are pointing in the wrong direction as I cannot see what it's pointing at and are totally out of focus.
Not impressed. Am I missing something?

As a workaround, you can shoot stills while shooting video with the flash on.

Yes, for example a light flash in order to focus before full power flash and shot.
with other phone I have turned on the flashlight and left it on before turning on the camera. That works fine.

couldn't resist!
I hope they will put an option to turn on flash before taking a photo. I'm using CameraFX just for that, for the time being :cyclops:

Got some touch problems. Also can't change the resolution.
Seems to be working quite well for me.
For the touch problems, it looks like the buttons are out of "alignment", if I can call it that. I have to tap just to the right of the button. For example, to change the photo type, tap on the right edge of the camera icon in the top right corner.
Swipe right to get to the resolution settings.
Only thing that doesn't seem to work is the Exposure setting. But that's OK, since I know next to nothing about photography. Auto mode all the way for me. Wish it had HDR setting, to turn it on/off.

You know, I wonder if that would fix the problem with the on-screen buttons not being aligned with our taps...

I was using the one+ cam but this one is much better. i like the design to, thanks for the link.
The two options in the DPI slider in Android N settings resulted in being unable to accurately use the interface, manually setting DPI to 424 works though. I guess it doesn't support scaling
