[Q] Flashing older applications - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody knew how to flash older applications onto kit kat.
I'm currently running 4.4 stock, rooted.
Specifically, I wanted to port a Music.apk from Shostock 2.3.6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353513).
I tried copying the Music Player.apk onto my Nexus system/app but when I try to run the app, it says 'Unfortunately Music has stopped'
Is there some way to port it, or is it because it's too old?
IOr perhaps someone knows of a different stock application that looks similar (I attached a screenshot of it)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

bump

I guess this isn't possible?

[Q]\ThinkTank Trying to get an App back after upgrading to 2.2

Hey everyone I need some help
I just upgraded my Milestone to 2.2 using dexter's awesome method and it's running amazingly, the problem is I don't seem to have access to all the apps in the market anymore and I just got a car alarm installed that I can control from my phone and I can't seem to download it anymore from the market...
Now I tried using Market Enabler and it still wasn't there so I started to dig deeper and found that I had a Nandroid backup of it on my SD card, but instead of being a normal .APK it's a .ZIP file.
So I need everyone's help in figuring out how can we change this .ZIP into a workable .APK? I tried just changing the extension and it essentially looks like it will install the app but then says Installation Failed... What am I missing guys? There's got to be some way to get the app back!
Its the Viper SmartStart alarm app so if anyone can help me out please!!

[REQ] SamsungApps

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could make SamsungApps.apk and com.sec.android.app.samsungapps.una2 which should be necessary to run SA, available; I upgraded to ICS, rooted my Note and decided to delete SamsungApps, while I should have freezed it instead Now I would like to have it back installed. I could reflash ICS, but rather would just install those two .apk files.
Thanks.
I've found the first one, but the other one (the una2.apk) is still seems to be missing:

The store doesn't seem to work without it; I get a list of apps, but I can't download anything.

SoundSearch Widget

Hey guys,
I own a Nexus S i9023 in Australia and am running the latest XenonHD JB Rom. I was wondering that ever since the official release of JB, I have not been able to find or run the sound search widget on my device. Before the official release of JB, I was running the "beta" version of JB and the soundsearch widget was present then. Ever since the release, I cannot find or run the sound search widget on my device. When i try to install the apk for it, it asks me whether I want to replace a system app. I click yes and it tries to install but says there is already a package of that name.
Is there a fix for this? I have come across forums which have said to defrost the app using titanium backup or rom toolbox however, these fixes must be applied each time you reboot your phone. Does somebody know a permanent fix for this?
Sorry if this is a noob question but it would be nice if i got some assistance in this matter!
Thanks a lot in advance.
Search for "google ears nexus s". I found this it's a copy of the apk and instructions for ICS. Perhaps removing and re-installing will clear things up.
You are rooted right? Assuming you are, you need to install titanium backup and look for Google sound search(it's highlighted in red) and unfreeze it. Then you can use it.

[Q] Where can I find the stock rom for...?

Where can I find the stock rom for the Pantech CrossOver (model P8000)?
I rooted my current Pantech CrossOver and removed all of the bloatware, which unfortunately makes my phone incompatible with certain apps.
And I need to use some of those apps.
Not all apps were made incompatible by removing the bloat, only certain ones.
I also know that the apps weren't made incompatible by the developer because they are still compatible with my old Pantech CrossOver that I gave to my mom.
Also, I am unable to use Pantech's update tool because it refuses to load.
It does not produces any error messages, crashes, or log files.
It just refuses to load anything past the taskbar item that does nothing.
By the way I have Windows 7 Ultimate.

Dunno where to find the stock for your phone, but you could try looking for the apps apks you uninstalled and install them again. Then convert them to system app via titanium backup pro.

[Q] please help! sgh i757 apk's!

someone plese help me!
i've got a samsung galaxy s2 hd lte (sgh-i757m)...and i'm having problems finding much information for my phone on here...i know its older, but i just got it...i finally managed to root it using a galaxy s3 sgh i757 root....here is my problem...i'm sooooo confused!....when i rooted it i kept the stock rom that was on there... ics 4.0.4....and it had the dialer and the contacts apk that i love...the one you can slide left or right to call or text....since then i've updated to cyanogenmod 9, and love all the features of it, but it looks like it has the jellbean contacts apk...the real ugly white one that can't swipe left to right to text ect....I've found some downloads of the old contacts apk, but am having no luck installing them!....I've even tied restoring to the old stock rom, then copying the contacts apk into the downloads file, then re-load cm9 and move the contacts apk into the system/apps folder to replace the one's already in there but no luck.....this is soooooo frustrating!.....
.i have to admit i'm a bit of a noob...but both my stock rom and the cm9 show as 4.0.4, so should the contact apk not be transferable???? and why are they different in the first place!!!....I've enabled unknown sources to allow third party apps, and i've changed permissions in the apk to rw-r--r-- and replaced the contacts apk then reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache then reboot, and nothing....then i've tried to install apk.......and it shows installing, and the working blue bar, then just says "application not installed"...wtf???...i'm so frustrated!....is there something i'm missing with the owner/groups thing?....i just really want to make this happen....i've spent at least 12 hours on it already.....
please help!!!!!!
