Problems with Titanium Backup's "Integrate system app updates into ROM" feature.
I searched, but didn't find any documentation on this feature, so I did the adventurous thing and tried it out. It's supposed to replace the system apps in the ROM with the updated apk, therefore saving space in the system memory. But after the batch finished, all of the updated apps were completely gone...the originals AND the updates were deleted. Since there isn't a way to "undo" this function, I had to reflash the ROM. Does anyone know more about this option? Does it work with any ROM?

If your rooted you can replace them yourself.

I faced the same probs. But here is a few tips to get back your app:
1. Use titanium backup, run Batch, uninstall those apps that you have moved to ROM (which already highlighted in Red)
2. Find install apks for those apps in Google, reinstall it
3. Reboot your device
4. All app icons have back
Have fun, mate!!

I had the same problem; with the Android Market app disappeared. I have tried to re-install it the way you suggest, but the app stops working when I start any download from the market. Even reset the phone to factory settings, but I have the same problem. Any clue?
Thanks!!!
I just did a hot restart and it was fine for me.

I was having a similar problem with my Galaxy Note on ICS 4.04.
Whenever I tried to integrate the Play Store it would delete both the update and the old app and I would have to reinstall the APK.
I also noticed recently that a few other updates that appeared to be integrated successfully reappeared in the list of available updates to integrate, like they reverted to user apps after a reboot?
What finally fixed it for me was selecting the option in Titanium Backup Pro *Menu; Preferences; Advanced Settings; Check the box "Auto-integrate sys Dalvik into"
I then did a backup of my launcher app, long pressed on the backup and selected "Convert to System App", then single pressed on the app backup, selected restore then selected app data only"
It prompted me to reboot, after reboot when I checked the"batch, integrate updates into system ROM" all the apps which I was having problems with had disappeared from the list, and appear to be integrated now.
I don't know if it was the reboot or enabling the option in Titanium Backup, but something changed.
I have some problems also
I used Titanium mainly to integrate the updates into rom in my previous htc sensation and in my galaxy s3 and it worked fine with them. Now it does not work properly with my galaxy s4. After the integration some apps crash, Chrome, Dropbox. Some of them only delete the update and leave the old one in rom. If I go to google play the update is there to be installed again or some apps just prompt for the update when opened. I sent an email to the developer but I have not response. I have used it successfully in my previous phones but it is not working in this one. Any help is appreciated.

Yep, I'm having this exact problem. First the apps didn't show up, so I performed a hot restart. They're all back now, but Dropbox, Chrome, G+ and others that were integrated are all crashing now.
I imagine it's mostly to so with new security features with the S4. If you're using an S4 please stay away from this feature until it's officially recognised as an issue by the TitaniumBackup developer. I'll reflash PDA shortly and report back if that resolves the problem.

I did reflash the phone with the stock firmware and everithing is good. I have tried some apps but it did not work. I just leave them there until titanium backup is updated. This is the most used feature for me and now is not working.

Titanium Backup's update this week supposedly fixed integrating on Android 4.2. Who's up to try it out?

Sorry, I have been busy to come back. Well, some work, others no. Chrome did not work but I did google Maps, google play, and several other updates. I did not mess with ChatOn since if something goes wrong it could break S voice and S translator. I just did now Google music and Flipboard. Usually I have to reboot in order to have the shortcut in the apps or to fix the name of them. For example, after integrate flipboard is in the drawer with the name and no icon, it launched fine, google music was fine and worked fine. After reboot the icon came back. The only problem is that if does not work then I have to convert the system app to user in order to make it work. Yesterday I converted the jelly bean photosphere camera to system and it was converted but did not work. It force close, then I tried to converted to user app and it took a long time and just was frozen there. I stopped TB but the camera disapear from the drawer, since rebooting fix the icon or name problem, I did it. My phone did not pass the samsung galaxy logo on boot. It was just a black screen after the logo and pressing the power button did not power on or off when I pressed, only when I released. Lucky me that I did a NAND backup before this process and still I could access download mode and the CWM which I used to restore my phone with the backup in my external card. After everything was as before I started. Now I will be more careful when I do this doing a backup before starting.
Samsung Link update integration did not work, force close. Samsung Hub worked but when press the back button to close then force close. Group play seems to work since it opens and go to the start page and no problem when I press the back button.
Still having same problem
Several programs quit working after converting apps to rom. I couldn't get them to work and finally put the locked rom back in, then unlocked it again. I have a verizon galaxy s4 me7 sch-I545 and the update didn't help here.
i want to know if i do this method, does the phone memory will get smaller if i do this again if the system apps getting new update?
hey there,
i have to grab out this thread because i have problems too. almost every app i integrate into system rom force closes, when i try to start it.
even chmod a+x didn't make it better (but the other apps in /system/app are not executable, so this had no sense).
i'm using the latest cm11 nightly for the motorola photon q. is there a known solution?
I have the same issue with this function as rdefranx.
After the integrate process, all updates are fine and i have the old versions again which i have to update. Repeated the process with single apps with showing same results again.
I also sent an so to the developer, but that's a shame: You never ever get an answer if you have a problem with titanium backup.
The app is good and helped me a lot. But shame on the non existing support. Really disappointing and unprofessional. Oh yes: i paid for the app. Thank you.
Hi, I just quit using his feature. I don't know if will work with my note 3 because I don't want to have problems. I will be subscribing to this thread in case a solution is found.
Also happened to me 4 days ago using a Moto X. Except for me it also deleted the Google keyboard & play store among others.
So I was left with no keyboard to type with and no play store to download from. After a factory rest it meant that by having no keyboard I couldn't even type anything on my phone to create a google account to restore the aps & Keyboard with. I had to reflash the whole rom again, and will stay clear of integrating the apks. I did this 4 days ago, so i'm not sure if titanium has updated since then.
Same problem with me. LG G2 Mini Official KK4.4.2 rooted, after Integrating system apps in ROM almost all of them crashing. Don't think that has to do with titanium, but with the android version. I used tha feature on my old LG P350 (stock rom+cm) and worked perfectly. But now in kitkat is messing up. Btw i'm using the latest version of titanium pro
i tried searching the forum, but search is unavailable right now. anyway, i saw that people were able to install the honeycomb music player on the nexus s with CM7 and were able to do the cloud sync. I would like to do this on my stock nexus s as well. Is it possible? can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
damn, my bad. i thought i was posting this in question forum. mod please move
I have been trying to do this with no luck. Keep getting application not installed error..
I don't think it is possible without rooting..
same problem. install unsuccessful. if i root the phone, install the honeycomb player, will i still get the stock OTA updates when they come out
I had it working on my stock Nexus S before I installed CM7. I was rooted though
Copy the Honeycomb apk to your phone.
*Backup the original music.apk before attempting this*
Use a file explorer with root access and mount it with R/W access and delete the original music.apk from system/app
reboot device.
Find the honeycomb music apk via file manager and install.
Note : Rooting does not affect OTA updates, nor will installing any software (.apk) OTA updates are lost when you install custom rom's

No, you will not. All of your upgrades will come from the devs supporting the ROM you are on. Or you will have to flash each update separately when they are available.

No rooting will not make him loose OTA updates.
As long as you are on the STOCK ROM you will continue to receive OTA updates no matter what .apk's you install, so installing the honeycomb music apk will not affect anything.
You loose your ability to receive OTA updates when you switch to a custom rom (CM7, etc.) This is because your installing non- original google software onto your phone.
if I'm not mistaken, the cloud sync function is only available in CM7, it does not work in the stock ROM (at least I tried once and it did not work).
I have CM7 RC2 installed and was able to install the Honeycomb music player as well. Strangely it does not install itself on top of the Gingerbread Music app, they exist in parallel.
Put honeycomb player in system/app change permissions to match other apps. Reboot install honeycomb player.apk overwrite normal music player and your done. You can always uninstall and go back to normal.

are these directions for a rooted phone or stock?
Hi.
Ok, so check this out. Every time I flash a new ROM, I need to go into the MARKET and install all my apps (i don't use many, so it's not that time-consuming).
One day, I installed this GO LAUNCHER. When I flashed my rom again, in some magical way, all my apps were downloaded and installed (NOT restored, but re-installed fresh).
I do not know how the Go Launcher did this, since this happens before I even to to the market and install it after a fresh rom. Magic!
In any case, this stopped happening for some reason when I did my last flash (Weapon).
My question is - is there an APP that does this?
Again, i do NOT wish to RESTORE my apps. I wish for the MARKET to download all the apps was using (FRESH install them).
Is there a way to do this without GO Launcher?
Thanks
Whats supposed to happen is that Android is supposed to automatically download and reinstall your apps. The problem is that it doesn't always work. In fact, it has never worked correctly. Its really a hit or miss.
I think the reason is because everytime you do a fresh install of Android, it includes an old version (usually 2 or 3 versions back) of the Android Market. So the first thing it does is upgrade Market and I believe that is where it messes up with the restoring of apps.
ICS has supposedly fixed this issue.

THANK YOU!!!
Best way I've found is to make a backup of whatever rom you are on with all your apps and do a selective restore for the Data only from cwm, should put everything back including your google account.
I've done it many times between roms and have had no noticeable issues, but I can't guarantee you won't.
I haven't checked with a fresh rom install but i believe titanium can now push the updated version of software into the rom.
Meaning on your list you would see two listings of gmail.. The old and then the updated. If you pushed them into the rom and did a nandroid i wonder if the newer version of the app stays.

First, I want to thank SCDevs and xdaid for putting this app out and for continuing development and support. The original thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561729
The app can also be downloaded for free in the Play Store here: http://goo.gl/Zmzmh

What does this app do? This app will make a flashable update.zip of all your apps and their data, /including system apps if you so choose, for you to flash after you complete a full wipe and flash a new rom.
While it is understood that Titanium backup can restore all your apps and data and take a relatively short amount of time to do its job, this app makes it a bit more convenient by allowing you to just flash a zip and be done with it.
Enjoy the app.
I found a bug with the restoration of 2 apps.
Chrome browser
Quickpic
Both apps had to be uninstalled and.reinstalled for them to function. Just a heads up.

The stock sense mms.apk? Idk I haven't tried that. Haven't used a pure stock sensation Rom since last July. I'm guessing no since stock is gb and sense 4.0 is ics. You can try it tho. If you want to save your messages just use.sms backup and restore in the Play Store. It's a free app and has always worked for me.
On a side note, I know the stock ics mms.apk DOES work on sense 4.0. I'm using it on OrDroid right now.
Hope that helped. Lmk if I didn't answer your question.

Wait a second... I get it. You can do the backup and restore from one messaging app to another, you just have to use sms backup and restore or a similar app.

Weird. Ok so the way around that is to grab the update-binary from a rom that doesn't use aroma installer (I used aokp when I tested this) and overwrite the one found in data/data/scdev-app2zip/files then make your backup zip. I know that will work.

I'm hugely confused right now. I'm currently running the 8/23 official nightly of CM10 on a clean flash and I recently installed Rom Manager Premium & Poweramp Pro on my phone, but the Rom Manager wouldn't install as I believe Rom Manager comes with CM10? So to get around that, I pushed the apk file to system/app and installed it from there, and did the same for poweramp because it would tell me there was not enough space in my phone to install it, yet I could install any other app. My problem now is that every time I reboot the phone I have to re-install the apps because the data isn't there (in app settings it says 0.0bytes of data), or even while the phone is running the apps crash and somehow delete themselves and I have to re-install them. I don't know what the hell is going on. Anyone care to help?
-Scratch that. I just pushed them to the root of my sdcard and they stuck.
I'm confused as to why that was happening though, when people commonly recommend pushing apps there for easy download?
One thing not to forget is that a lot of apps are not/don't play well with 4.1.
