It is basically a persistent floating circle which you can use to check notifications and quickly/temporarily switch into other apps (a lot like Facebook's Messenger, if you use it). And it is a feature developed by the Paranoid Android team. AOKP is just an implementer. Best to see than read - watch this video on YouTube:

I think this belongs here under apps but does anybody know of a quality emoji keyboard? I'm running aokp and now that I can see them I would like to use them also. So far the only one I have really found is multi ling keyboard and I don't really like it much.

Not built in the keyboard, but GoSMS offers emojis.
I use it without problems (Except for the new ones iOS just got with their last update)

If u want them in SMS get chomp SMS from play store also the emoji add on has newest iOS emojis and quick reply

I'd mainly like them for twitter. I did like how aokp jb had an add emoji option in the options menu for messaging though.
Hey guys. So Ive looked a bit everywhere in XDA so I wanted to ask how to add that Brightness Slider in the Notification Panel. Like the one with the Galaxy S3. Thanks..
I use power toggle from play store. You can add to notification slide.

That's an aokp feature. You may flash a ROM which has both cm and aokp features like black bean 6, helly bean 4.1.2 etc.

Recently I've made some very simple apps on the android market and I'm looking for any simple apps that I can make. It's going to be free so I'm not going to make money from it. Google+ Home is definitely not a simple app, and would need months of development with Trial And Error. He asked for an idea for a simple app.

I was wondering if anyone found a good messaging app that worked with Halo. So far hangouts is the only one that works reliably for me. AOSP messaging works until I click a contact thread and it switches into the full app. Textra and 8sms open the full app when I try to open them through halo. Oddly enough other messaging programs like kik work fine. Is this just the state of halo on kitkat roms, or something that app developers need to change? Thanks for any help.

Halo is a recent port to KitKat since pa hasn't implemented their official halo yet. Operability should get better as development continues.

Yea, pretty cool idea. I didn't end up using it very much because I prefer the banner notifications that are an option with the app: LockerPro Lockscreen as they are less intrusive for every day use.
I searched the forum for HALO, but it brought up SOOOOO many threads. I'm running AOSB right now and it has HALO, but it's extremely buggy for me and I'm getting sick of it. Constantly crashes my SystemUI.
So anyway, IIRC PA removed HALO, so what other roms include it? Thanks a ton!

I get that, but it's a pain to search every thread when I'm sure there are a bunch of people around here that know off the top of their head.
You don't have to search through the whole thread. Just go to the op of the ROM and look at the features. Its not hard. You could have found a new ROM with halo and had it flashed already.

Yeah, but wouldn't go for DroidKang, is great ROM, but no more updates, is abandoned. Beanstalk is great, PAC, and many others. I am in love with Carbon, but Halo was taken out, but looks like it will get that new floating stuff that shall be improved a lot.

I personally use stock with xposed. For the xposed module I use xHaloFloatingWindow and to get the halo bubble I use Floatifications. There is a 14 day trial version, but honestly I bought the unlocker because it's totally worth it.
