sticker on back - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

does anyone know if the IMEI sticker on the back of the n5 is capable of being peeled off? i mean, im sure its 'capable', but will i end up with a bunch of leftover sticky adhesive stuck there? anyone tried?

No (in response to whether it leaves a residue). I peeled it off and put it in the box. You wouldn't want anyone to just see your IMEI anyhow
Sent from my Nexus 5

There's a pull tab that sticks up on the far right of the sticker, just grab it and peel it off. It's supposed to be removed.

comes right off,no mess on the phone..peeled mine right to left.... fyi, you are going to get flamed for asking this, it was posted like 299 places.... so... run ... duck... but peel that ish off first.

Fuze Bezel Coming Off... I would peel it off but...

So it appears that under the front bezel of the Fuze that has the ATT logo in the upper left hand corner can peel off. But there is a connector at the bottom of it...
Does anyone know what this does? Is it using the bezel as an antenna? My bezel is scratched and the screen underneath is fine. What can I do?
Can you upload a pic, my AT&T symbol is in the upper right hand corner

You are right I meant the right. Now after fixing it back up the touch screen no longer works. Freaking weak.
Can u upload some pictures please ?
So be warned the bezel is actually part of the touch screen and opening it breaks the touch screen by releasing the air pocket between the bezel and the screen. It is going back to att.
I wish someone would have told ME that before I continued. Anyone know of a fix or do they have to replace the whole touch screen?
You mean the whole plastic piece on the front? Yeah that is called the digitizer and senses touch. The actual LCD itself can't sense touch.
dude.... picture(s)
I'm sorry this may not be the nicest thing to say but I read this whole thread and all I can say is...
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING TRYING TO PEEL THINGS OFF WITHOUT READING FIRST!?!?!?!?!?"
You see this part that "appears" it can be peeled off. Yes, it can. You know why? BECAUSE IT'S GLUED ON!! You peeled off your digitizer and now your Touch Screen doesn't work?
Anybody want to take any guesses as to why it no longer works?
Sigh... I'm done. Rant over... I'm going to bed... I've had a long ****ty day and sorry you had to be the victim but that's just life...

Way to be a prick because you had a bad day! I was just trying to warn others not to do it. I was trying to take off the screen protector and as soon as the "digitizers' seal was broken the touch screen stopped working. I know that now.
Why wouldn't you want others to be warned?
Can anyone say A...S...S...H...O...L...E.??
Be very careful about the way you approach AT&T about replacing it. Since you peeled it off, they may not repair it if it looks like you damaged it.
I would say you left it in your car's front seat over night while staying over at your gf's house, and in the morning you found it like that.
Then ask questions about if they have had many of these problems with these phones and if there is a way you can get a different phone...
... they'll probably won't give you a different phone, but probably give you a replacement.
If you tell them you peeled it off, they'll charge you full price for a replacement.

Replacement Parts - Disaster Struck :(

So, last night, sitting on my concrete balcony I fumbled and knock my N8013 off the table. smacked the concrete and cracked the digitizer screen right down the middle, scuffing up the frame a good deal.
Already disassembled and have found the digitizer screens ($25 from Hong Kong, $30 in USA), so no problem there. But, I want to replace the scuffed up frame too, as that will drive me crazy, not to mention lower the resale value later on.
Can't find them. Anyone have any sources for these parts? ETrade is no go. Not finding anything on ebay either.
Help!

Oddly, I was looking up this exact thing earlier today and found this: http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OE...1-N8013-Housing-Frame-p/smn8013hsg3blu-qs.htm
Mine's just cracked, so don't know if I'll go through the trouble of replacing it. But hope this is what you were looking for.
EDIT: Oh, sorry, just noticed it's out of stock. I'll keep looking around, though, and let you know if I find anything.
So, there's this link, too. It says it's for a white one, but given it's just the frame, I don't know what that could be referring to. This doesn't say it's out of stock. Looks like the same part as the other link. http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OE...1-N8013-Housing-Frame-p/smn8013hsg3wht-qs.htm

You are my hero. As to the White that looks "blue", I bet it is white and just the picture. but this provides me hope. I may order and wait the 29 days. If I find something I will post. Please do the same. Am going to order the digitizer in the meantime.
Thank you So Much.
What I did in the meantime thinking I had to keep it was sand all the silver (Blue?) off it, figuring it looked better than with the scuff and nicks. don't want to use it though.
As expected, they do not have the frames. I just ordered it from Global Direct Parts and a roll of double-sided tape that I hope will replace the tape that holds the digitizer to the frame.
Thanks again for the lead and good luck with your repairs.
Well, ordered the digitizer screen from All4Cellular. Emailed them asking about the Frame, but I doubt it. they had few parts
Just an update. Got the digitizer screen over a week ago and have had the Note back in operation, but not permanently closed as I wait for the frame that you lead me to. The frame is now due on Tuesday I will have my tablet back and properly fixed.
Thanks again.

Bezel Scratched Out of the Box

Hi guys,
The bezel on my charcoal black Galaxy S5 evidently was scratched during assembly. Has anybody else had this problem? I didn't even notice the problem for a few days because it only shows up when light hits it the right way, and it had been overcast for a couple of days after I bought it.
Now -- my local Sprint Store is telling me that, and I quote: "they've never seen a bezel scratched right out of the box" and insinuating that I am trying to take advantage of them. All I want is a phone that isn't damaged out of the box!
I had to go through a nightmare last time I visited my Sprint Store because of a dead pixel for an HTC device. So this time I called ahead to try to make sure I won't have any problems getting it exchanged... Right now they the sales rep said he has to talk to his manager before letting me know.
It's sad that Sprint employees seem to assume everything is the customer's fault until proven otherwise.
Anyway just felt a need to vent. BTW -- the scuff is on the top chrome -- adjacent to the volume button. Kind of looks like maybe the assembler tried using a tool to snap things together and didn't put a cloth on top first or something to protect it. Oh well!

Edit: Just got a call back -- they say since I'm within 14 days it doesn't matter if they believe me or not -- they will still do the exchange. I guess I'll just have to be happy knowing in my heart that I'm being honest and didn't make the scratches.

Just got my replacement phone. Bezel is scratched again -- on the left side, but lower down this time. Guess it's a "feature" -- I'll learn to live with it. Phone is too awesome otherwise.
You gotta be kidding; two in a row? That's some LG s*** right there! I went through 3 G2Xs before the carrier finally let me have a better device. Always inspect that thing as soon as you get it. Me? I always look it over, root and ROM it the first day. That way if anything goes wrong, you can take it right back. Had to do it with a Rezound once too. Get a good case and you'll never notice it.....but you'll still know it's there.....
Any suggestions on a good case that covers the bezel without making it look like it's wearing armor an inch thick? Got an S View right now its OK but of course isn't meant to cover the bezel... and it won't stay closed either... ?

Backlight doesn't come on unless i bend the phone

So on my Nexus 5, the backlight started going off randomly... tapping phone would bring it back..
Then eventually it went out and i had to bend/flex the phone and it would keep working a while..
I contacted support then, but one time i bent it a little to get it on and the frame (plastic outer edge cracked), doh.. Now, of course, they will not give me a warranty repair because the device is physically damaged. So i tried a new screen, no dice. Now i have two good screens and a phone that still wont work unless i bend the crap out of it. Anyone else see this problem? Worth trying to replace motherboard? or should i just sell parts (new screen i bought, old screen, battery, etc) and buy a whole new phone... There is one specific point where i can bend it and backlight comes on, but i cant find a short or loose connection anywhere. I have had the thing COMPLETELY apart and back together multiple times. I should mention, it works totally fine when backlight is off, just no backlight so i can only see it in super bright direct illumination.
Any ideas???
Take it to a mobile phone repair shop.

Fixed for now! Woohoo! Based on the position of where i had to flex it, i tried a little gap filler... a folded piece of paper, between the SIM slot and the back frame. With everything screwed back together, it just puts a little pressure on that area of the main board.
Now the only problem is the screen i bought is defective (lines all up and down it) so now i have to disassemble again to put the old one back in.... oh joy, now to return it through ebay... I'm sure that will work well. Either way, phone working again! FYI, this phone is REALLLY easy to take apart and put back together.
EDIT: F.. snapped the end off one of the little antenna cables (the black one, on the right when looking at the uncovered back of the phone) when redoing the screen. Anyone know what that is for? WiFi and cell data signals seem ok.. Looks like a diversity antenna for something, because of all the others at the tope. Maybe google will have an answer.

Check Bluetooth/try calling/using data just to be sure.
Do not discuss something on how to make fool of insurance company or even an warranty, It's not allowed here. Thanks

[Q] HTC Letters Falling Off

I run my phone without a case and take pretty good care of it. This evening I glanced down at my phone and noticed that my C on the HTC logo was sliding off, and the plastic filler was sitting at an angle over the indent for the letter. I slid the letter back into place, and it appears to have a sort of rubber-like glue holding it in, but it is not secure at all. I doubt it's covered by any sort of protection, and I'm half tempted to run a case on it just to protect it from more damage.
Anyone else been having these kind of issues? Anybody found any sort of way to get it to set again, like cold/heat?

This was mentioned in HTC Elevate by another member. Some said a warranty exchange for hardware, being that its under 1 year warranty. Others did not want to go that route and another user just said it used a small amount of glue to put it back in place. They said it hasnt fell back out since
I would go with a toothpick with just a dab of superglue and gently place the letter back in place. You can try that. or call warranty and see what they'll do
My letter T fell out at some point and I'd don't know till after a couple days so I just took the remaining letters out along with the glue and it doesn't look bad at all. Can't even tell unless you are looking for it.

I run mine naked as well and the C recently fell out. If I still had the letter, I would probably go the superglue route, but it doesn't bother me that it's missing.
I suppose if it starts collecting debris I'd probably try to get replacement letters and glue them in. So far no debris collection.
