Replacement Parts - Disaster Struck :( - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, last night, sitting on my concrete balcony I fumbled and knock my N8013 off the table. smacked the concrete and cracked the digitizer screen right down the middle, scuffing up the frame a good deal.
Already disassembled and have found the digitizer screens ($25 from Hong Kong, $30 in USA), so no problem there. But, I want to replace the scuffed up frame too, as that will drive me crazy, not to mention lower the resale value later on.
Can't find them. Anyone have any sources for these parts? ETrade is no go. Not finding anything on ebay either.
Help!

Oddly, I was looking up this exact thing earlier today and found this: http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OE...1-N8013-Housing-Frame-p/smn8013hsg3blu-qs.htm
Mine's just cracked, so don't know if I'll go through the trouble of replacing it. But hope this is what you were looking for.
EDIT: Oh, sorry, just noticed it's out of stock. I'll keep looking around, though, and let you know if I find anything.
So, there's this link, too. It says it's for a white one, but given it's just the frame, I don't know what that could be referring to. This doesn't say it's out of stock. Looks like the same part as the other link. http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OE...1-N8013-Housing-Frame-p/smn8013hsg3wht-qs.htm

You are my hero. As to the White that looks "blue", I bet it is white and just the picture. but this provides me hope. I may order and wait the 29 days. If I find something I will post. Please do the same. Am going to order the digitizer in the meantime.
Thank you So Much.
What I did in the meantime thinking I had to keep it was sand all the silver (Blue?) off it, figuring it looked better than with the scuff and nicks. don't want to use it though.
As expected, they do not have the frames. I just ordered it from Global Direct Parts and a roll of double-sided tape that I hope will replace the tape that holds the digitizer to the frame.
Thanks again for the lead and good luck with your repairs.
Well, ordered the digitizer screen from All4Cellular. Emailed them asking about the Frame, but I doubt it. they had few parts

Just an update. Got the digitizer screen over a week ago and have had the Note back in operation, but not permanently closed as I wait for the frame that you lead me to. The frame is now due on Tuesday I will have my tablet back and properly fixed.
Thanks again.

Report it broken, pay $90 for a replacement through Asurion. Cheaper than $500, y'know?

You need to google for a eris digitizer.

i think u can get them for like 40+ dollars off ebay
If you don't mind the long shipping times, you can get a digitizer + the entire housing together for around $60 on ebay. Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.
#EDIT#
Zombie post . . . sorry about that. Need to remember to look at dates before replying.

I just replace mine, and is wasn't too bad. There is videos on YouTube about how to do it. It took me about an hour, and the part costs about 40 bucks. If you need any help with it, feel free to email me [email protected]

I'm going through the same thing. Amazon has some digitizers for about $40. I decided to spend the extra $20 and get this instead
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F5CEDW
It's the whole casing. I didn't want to bother with stripping the digitzer off the frame which is glued on. With replacing the whole body, you just move the mainboard over and plug everything back in. At least this is my hope. I'll post here again when the thing actually arrives. I ordered it two weeks ago and it probably won't be here until mid March.
Good luck with whatever you decided to go with.
UPDATE. hmmm october was the post date. I guess this guy has long taken care of his problem
Are there any particular tools needed? I swear my other half is on a mission to destroy her phone. It'd be good to know how to do some of the possible DIY stuff.

There's Youtube videos for disassembly. I haven't watched them myself, but I know they exist, so they probably tell you what tools you need there. From what I remember hearing, just some small torx screwdrivers, or maybe some small phillips, too, but don't quote me on those.
Here is a link to the teardown video I followed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHwm-32BI0w
The amazon link in my previous post is what I bought. It was the whole body. There are just screen replacements but I didn't want to mess with that because the digitizer is glued to the front piece. I didn't want to risk warping or breaking the front piece and completely screwing myself over. Anyway, what I bought came with the tools you need to perform the teardown and an extra screwdriver that was not needed.
I am glad I did this. However, it came with it's share of issues.
-The very top of my digitizer does not work. As a result, I can't pull down the notification bar. I can get to it through the menu button but it is annoying.
-I had to move the ear speaker and loudspeaker over. They were glued to some foam which was stuck/glued to the chassis. That foam absorbed the vibration. When my phone rings loud it is nasty because the speaker is bouncing around. I tried to cut some foam myself to replace what was stuck in the old case. It helped but it's not perfect.
-There are some rubber buffers? Isolators? Not sure what their called which also needed to be moved over form the old case.
-It took a month to ship to my house. After discovering these issues, I am kind've stuck with them because it would take a month to send the parts back and another month to get a replacement. By then I'll be due for a new phone.
So that's my experience of replacing the whole case.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
My pleasure. Glad to help out.

To add to this, because I'm sure there are others out there like me who intend to use their Eris until it gets run over, dropped in lava, drawn, quartered, and defecated upon . . .
I ordered the same replacement housing and digitizer as mentioned above, and had 2 small problems:
The housing I got had a nut in it that came loose, so that one of the corners wasn't able to reassemble properly.
There was something different in the new housing that caused the proximity sensor to function incorrectly.
For #1, I just used some super glue to weld the nut into place. This appears to have worked OK, but I fear that the point is weakened now and I will need to be very gentle if I disassemble the phone again.
For #2, The problem was that the housing was allowing bleed through inside the case from the proximity flasher to the light sensor, which caused the sensor to determine that there was something close to it when in fact there wasn't. I placed a small (oh so small) piece of electrical tape into the housing between where the IR flasher and sensor are located, and the problem was resolved.
If presented with the option of purchasing a new digitizer alone, or a new digitizer and housing together, follow groovel76's suggestion; it's well worth the time and money to go with the latter. The hassle of cleaning the old adhesive off of the new housing, and the risks of getting new adhesive in places where you don't want it far outweigh the cost of just getting a housing with adhesive pre-applied. I tried to do just a digitizer first, and ended up with a small amount of super glue (DO NOT RECOMMEND) getting on the new screen and the edge of the housing, as well as a screen that didn't seat properly because I didn't get quite all of the old bits out of the old housing. This resulted in dust getting under the screen and another crack when I attempted to fix what I'd screwed up the first time.
Between the availability of parts and ROMs for this phone, I see it being in my family for a LONG time yet.
Yes! Buy a digitizer online (most come with the tools you need such as the torx screwdrivers, mine did) and search for videos on youtube. That's what I did and it only cost me $37 for the digitizer and about 30 minutes of my time. And it worked perfectly as new when I got it all back together.

Replacing a shattered digitiser

I dropped my HTC Sensation today and the digitiser/glass part of the screen is broken! (Let this be a warning to all. Phone was in one of those gel cases and the drop was only about 50cm but onto concrete!)
I can confirm that the LCD screen is working. It's just the glass that is cracked!
a) Has anyone gone about replacing the screen themselves
and
b) Would this one do? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Touch-Gl...ccessories&hash=item35b66231d6#ht_2295wt_1174
I want to replace the screen myself as I reckon I'm pretty handy with this stuff and also it will only cost me $30 compared to a $120 quote I got.
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: I realise that this has been posted before but I'm looking for advice about the SPECIFIC eBay digitiser that I want to buy.
IT WORKED: Happy to say that while it was quite difficult to replace the digitiser, it worked! I ordered from "yallstock" off eBay and while they sent me one with "T-Mobile" branding, it still worked with my Australian phone!
Remember, if you fix it your self you pay only $30. And everything works...But if you fail, you'll end up losing much more than $120. So have a think through this. Better pay more and have 100% certainty that it will be fixed, rather than pay $30 and have a 50% chance at breaking or fixing your device.
Have a good day.
I did mine myself, it is pretty easy to do I thought, and is better than paying a shop £100 to do.
Here is the digitiser i got-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XFISBG/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details
That digitiser looks fine to me, give it a whirl.

Thanks for your reply. I have already bought the digitiser although I may take it to a shop so they can install it! I doubt that labour costs will be more than $30.

Did you have any difficulty with the bits where you have to use heat to get off the adhesive? And any difficulting in reapplying the adhesive tape? If not, then I may have a go. It's the adhesive bits which I am most worried about. And the bit where you have to push the screen out to slide the digitiser ribbon in...
If you did use adhesive tape, was it 3M 2mm tape? like this? http://goo.gl/LqP62
Thank you for the help you give in advance! I'm really sorry to bombard you with questions but I don't want to stuff anything up!
I never heated it up to get it off, I think because it was smashed it came off pretty easy. Be careful of the bottom part were the 4 capacitive buttons are, the bit that lights them up on mine was stuck to the old screen and could have broken as i pulled the old screen up.
I used 3m 1mm tape, which worked out ok.
I you are going to do it yourself, be careful and slow and methodical.
All I did for the cable is gently pushed the screen up a bit and pushed the new cable through the gap, it's a bit fiddly but doable.
I used this video as a guide-

Thanks for all of your help and advice! I have ordered the digitiser and tape but since they are shipped from Singapore & Hong Kong, it'll take at least 2-3 weeks for it to arrive! Stuck with a Nokia E71 for now...
Hi,
I just broke my screen. : (
I'd like to know if theese ebay ones are OK. Are these Corilla Glass too? How do i get a genuine one?

[Q] Screen Replacement (Difficulty?)

I managed to break the screen on my Optimus 3d last night, not sure if it was dropped or ran over. I found it face down in my driveway this morning and to my horror when I flipped it over the screen was completely smashed, however the phone is still working fine, minus the never ending ghost call issue.
What make the situation worse is Rogers just sent me out a replacement phone yesterday and I have to send this one back, in the next couple days.
So I called a repair centre and they wanted $190 to repair the phone, and stated they would need to replace the LCD and the glass screen. I know there is nothing wrong with the LCD screen, phone functions and all colours are good, just has broken glass.
My question is, can I repair just the glass without replacing the LCD? I have found the screen for around $30 on ebay. Based on watching the how to on youtube it doesn't look like too difficult of a job.

First of all , this was asked before. Read the forum. I know because i asked that question.
Check here ;

and here ;

Carefully read them , especially my posts because i did it.
Where are you from and how fast can you get the replacements off ebay ?
When you get them it'll take about half an hour to fix it.
Nobody will notice unless there's damage to the LCD.
If it has we'll have to change it too.
I can guide you via Skype video calling.
Ok so I have managed to remove the broken screen, it was actually fairly easy my only concern is the part show at the 7:00 minute mark of the video below, was broken when I removed it. The copper tape strip (or whatever it is) is still in tact. Where can I purchase this part? I still have all the pieces and if worst comes to worst I will attempt to very carefully assemble the phone with the broken parts to see if the phone still functions. I'm assuming this is part of what operates the home, search, back and menu buttons.
I have already removed the glue and am going to pick up a new screen from London shortly. I had some adhesive remover and work in a glass shop so I have all the tools and cleaners to ensure my new screen sticks and fits nicely.
After reading the thread you linked I am wondering if the screen they sell in London will will include the outside casing, this would solve all of my problems. I guess I will know soon enough, heading to London now. I will let you guys know how I made out.
Heey if you look on youtube you find couple of videos its not very difficult i did it with a friend of my it takes 20 minutes be carful ^^
Goodluck
You can make do without a front case if you know what you're doing. I lacked equipment so i used alternative methods like shoe glue or blowdryer (which killed the original digitizer)...
No matter what you do they'll recognize if you don't buy it with a front casing though... (Already glued preferably)
I found it in turkey so i don't think you can't find it in london , resources are vast there...
Look around.
Remove the digitizer and check the lcd before heading to london if need be buy it as well.
If you need help you know where to find me...
Cheers!

Ok so I got the new screen installed and everything is working great. I purchased some 3m adhesive at the repair shop which made for a very clean replacement after removing all the old glue with some adhesive remover. Decided to grab a LCD for my brothers LG970 while I was there and repaired it as well.
New phone arrived yesterday evening, so I will be sending this one back this afternoon. The screen replacement is very clean so I'm not concerned about that but I did manage to lose the little speaker cover from the front of the phone, I just plan on telling Rogers it fell of at some point if they ask about it. Considering the phone is in working order with no physical damage besides wear and tear I don't expect an issue from Rogers.
By the way anyone want to purchase the brand new Optimus3d Rogers sent me? Not even taking this one out of the box, selling it and getting the as far away from LG phones as I can.
Thanks for all the help guys.
I could think about buying it but you need to disassemble it and wrap the parts good.
In Turkey it's illegal to buy phones from foreign countries but it's not if you buy not working parts.
So in short i'm gonna con them into thinking it's for parts if you're up to it. PM me the price in your head.

Bezel Scratched Out of the Box

Hi guys,
The bezel on my charcoal black Galaxy S5 evidently was scratched during assembly. Has anybody else had this problem? I didn't even notice the problem for a few days because it only shows up when light hits it the right way, and it had been overcast for a couple of days after I bought it.
Now -- my local Sprint Store is telling me that, and I quote: "they've never seen a bezel scratched right out of the box" and insinuating that I am trying to take advantage of them. All I want is a phone that isn't damaged out of the box!
I had to go through a nightmare last time I visited my Sprint Store because of a dead pixel for an HTC device. So this time I called ahead to try to make sure I won't have any problems getting it exchanged... Right now they the sales rep said he has to talk to his manager before letting me know.
It's sad that Sprint employees seem to assume everything is the customer's fault until proven otherwise.
Anyway just felt a need to vent. BTW -- the scuff is on the top chrome -- adjacent to the volume button. Kind of looks like maybe the assembler tried using a tool to snap things together and didn't put a cloth on top first or something to protect it. Oh well!

Just got my replacement phone. Bezel is scratched again -- on the left side, but lower down this time. Guess it's a "feature" -- I'll learn to live with it. Phone is too awesome otherwise.
You gotta be kidding; two in a row? That's some LG s*** right there! I went through 3 G2Xs before the carrier finally let me have a better device. Always inspect that thing as soon as you get it. Me? I always look it over, root and ROM it the first day. That way if anything goes wrong, you can take it right back. Had to do it with a Rezound once too. Get a good case and you'll never notice it.....but you'll still know it's there.....
Any suggestions on a good case that covers the bezel without making it look like it's wearing armor an inch thick? Got an S View right now its OK but of course isn't meant to cover the bezel... and it won't stay closed either... ?

Screen Replacement Help

So I'm looking for some general advice. One of my friends from works daughters broke her ipod touch screen and I told her I would replace it as long as she payed for all of the parts. The adhesive the screen came with was complete crap so I bought the proper 3M adhesive.
The problem is no matter what I do the darn screen won't stay down. I had it sitting under 20lbs of books for 2 days and it still pops up and doesn't come flush with the frame.
Does anybody have any general advice for me to try? I have one more set of the adhesives for the ipod so this is my last chance and I want to make sure I get it right. To be more specific the top and bottom are normally fine because that's where the adhesive is, there's none on the side as there wasn't any stock either. But then a few days later the top starts to pop off and I have no idea why.
Back to store?
Perhaps you can take it back to Apple and they will replace it for a fee? Saves the DIY costs? I think they do it for iPhones.

They do that if you bought it during like the last year, otherwise it's $100, and I already started but am stuck on how to get the screen to stay sticking
I am Samsung type of guy and I know that they offer 2 year warranty in the UK. Perhaps you should just test the water and try and blag a freebie! Best of luck getting the screen fixed!
See the main problem about actually going to the store is it's not the original screen, it's been opened and chagned. It's in void of the warranty
