I develop websites and have dabbled in app creation. I have a client that wants an app/widget that will display their daily specials. Does anyone know of a premade app that does this? This has got to have been done already but I have had no success finding it.

I recently purchased a Galaxy S, but, taking a trip down memory lane, I used to use a Palm OS device and ran a program called Due Yesterday with it. It was the perfect app to keep track of homework! Unfortunately, I cannot find a similar application in the Market, and I searched this forum with the keyword "homework" to no avail.
So, can anyone help me out - suggestions on any apps that are out there? I've tried Student's Pet, but that seems to be geared towards university. I want something more suited to high school classes! I also want to avoid to-do list apps, since they are not really customized for school needs.
Thanks!
Salutations to Everyone!
Thanks for reading my thread and hopefully considering helping me.
I think it's extremely bizarre that I can't seem to find an app to make a simple schedule to display for employees.
All of the apps that I keep finding in the Play Store are tied to online services. A simple schedule is not that serious!
I could easily use Microsoft Excel, but my life's deeply entrenched with Android.
I would even purchase an app. I'm not sure if that's motive for someone to create a simple app? =)
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated!
Best Regards,
David

If you're happy with a spreadsheet, why not use some "office" app suite? Or you could make a free cloud doc, like in Google docs.

I'm not happy with using just a spreadsheet or office documents.
I *could* use a spreadsheet, but I prefer something designed
specifically for what I need. It's been my experience using office apps
on Android are not the most reliable. Formats get screwy when crossing
devices and/or office programs.
Besides. I'm trying to get a good, simple solution for a friend of mine.
I'm helping her with her restaurant business.
I appreciate your reply though! =)

I'm still not clear on what it is you're looking for. If not a spreadsheet, then what? Something like Microsoft Access? Kind of like the Contacts app?

I'm looking for an app that's designed for creating and managing schedules for a small business?
Shift scheduling. Possibly with additional features.

Hi I'm Mark a Web development student in my final year.
Basically for my final project were working with an external company that want stuff done for free or very close, this includes an android app.
The app im going to try to make will be private for the company to give out locations using google maps and gps/geolocation.
The app will be distributed through the site we are developing to certain users and not featured on the marketplace due to privacy issues.
Problem is I've never developed for android or any mobile platforms and have an extremely basic knowledge of Java but i mainly develop for web and windows using c# so naturally I have a few questions for people with experience in android development.
1. Is it possible to have the app powered by google maps?
2. Any suggestions of how one user will be able to upload gps coordinates to this app?
3. Rough idea of how long it would take e.g. few hours, few days, few months?
4. Overall is it possible, any problems I might run into?
5 Any Advice, tips,or better suggestions?
Thanks a lot for reading this far, any answers or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,
I want to create a "happiness diary" app that people can use each day to record something that's made them happy that day, as part of a therapy process. There are already apps which do this, but there are a few reasons I want to reinvent the wheel: many of the existing ones are ad-driven, or associated with fad diets. And in general, I want something that my fiancée can be confident using with her clients, hence the desire to have "ownership".
I'm wondering whether it's feasible to code this myself to avoid the cost of hiring a developer. I've done some coding in Basic at school so I'm not a total novice, but apps are totally new to me. It's a question of how many hours I'd need to invest in learning app programming to create it myself, or whether I should just pay someone else.
I know there's a plethora of software packages for developing your own apps but don't know where to start. If there are any that would be particularly suitable for creating a diary-type app then I'd be very grateful for some recommendations.
Or should I invest in a "Coding Apps for Dummies" textbook and do it from scratch?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
Would you be offering it for free? Would you be uploading To the play store or via 3rd party(aptoide, or apk sharing) would you charge a 1 time fee? Or free? Or another method of funding? 50 diary entries free, unlimited $0.99?
