Help Please: can't find app to create schedule for employees! - General Questions and Answers

Salutations to Everyone!
Thanks for reading my thread and hopefully considering helping me.
I think it's extremely bizarre that I can't seem to find an app to make a simple schedule to display for employees.
All of the apps that I keep finding in the Play Store are tied to online services. A simple schedule is not that serious!
I could easily use Microsoft Excel, but my life's deeply entrenched with Android.
I would even purchase an app. I'm not sure if that's motive for someone to create a simple app? =)
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated!
Best Regards,
David

If you're happy with a spreadsheet, why not use some "office" app suite? Or you could make a free cloud doc, like in Google docs.

I'm not happy with using just a spreadsheet or office documents.
I *could* use a spreadsheet, but I prefer something designed
specifically for what I need. It's been my experience using office apps
on Android are not the most reliable. Formats get screwy when crossing
devices and/or office programs.
Besides. I'm trying to get a good, simple solution for a friend of mine.
I'm helping her with her restaurant business.
I appreciate your reply though! =)

I'm still not clear on what it is you're looking for. If not a spreadsheet, then what? Something like Microsoft Access? Kind of like the Contacts app?

I'm looking for an app that's designed for creating and managing schedules for a small business?
Shift scheduling. Possibly with additional features.

[Q] Please help Developing an Android Map App for a company as part of a project

Hi I'm Mark a Web development student in my final year.
Basically for my final project were working with an external company that want stuff done for free or very close, this includes an android app.
The app im going to try to make will be private for the company to give out locations using google maps and gps/geolocation.
The app will be distributed through the site we are developing to certain users and not featured on the marketplace due to privacy issues.
Problem is I've never developed for android or any mobile platforms and have an extremely basic knowledge of Java but i mainly develop for web and windows using c# so naturally I have a few questions for people with experience in android development.
1. Is it possible to have the app powered by google maps?
2. Any suggestions of how one user will be able to upload gps coordinates to this app?
3. Rough idea of how long it would take e.g. few hours, few days, few months?
4. Overall is it possible, any problems I might run into?
5 Any Advice, tips,or better suggestions?
Thanks a lot for reading this far, any answers or help would be greatly appreciated.

request for app development - rednotebook

I'm not a programmer or I'd do this in a heartbeat. I use a journaling/note application on linux called Rednotebook. It's on sourceforge, sorry I'm still under 10 posts so I can't post a link.
It is a simple, lightweight, app that you can drop notes, pics, diary entrys, whatever, and easily find them again. Pretty much what evernote does only without the massive bloat and eye-bleed interface. It feels a lot like a personal wiki interface. I use this and evernote and constantly go back to this because it is so much easier to deal with.
I don't know how the author would deal with royalties from the app store but he has indicated on his forums he has no interest in porting to android but would be glad to help someone else do it. I run this on all of my linux system and would buy it in a heartbeat to run on my tablet.
My hope is to be able to run this on all of my systems and export/import it as necessary. A way to sync this securely without putting personal stuff out on the internet somewhere would be icing on the cake but manual would work just fine.
Just putting it out there. I'd definately pay more than the average $1.99 google play app for this port.

Android app to track receipts?

I'm looking for a great android app to track receipts with. I recently bought my first home and TONs of home depot trips later I'd like to scan all my receipts and keep track of them, neat receipts style, for when tax time comes around. Any suggestions would be very welcomed I'm feeling very over my head while staring at this box full!

The Google drive update from the market place may include OCR (optical character recognition) which may make your life considerably easier for synching your personal data between mobile and the computer you're likely doing taxes on. If that doesn't work for you try searching the market place for OCR or the words it represents as that will show a few results as well.
Best of luck with your new home and I organization. If ya need a little help with Google drive hit me up and I might know some answers

[Q] Where do I start?

OK people
I’m pretty good with IT and the written word but have no coding experience whatsoever. I want to develop a phone App (both iPhone and Android).
The app will include Google mapping technology, Facebook check in capability, account sign up and message system to fellow subscribers and push notifications triggered by geographical location and in app advertising.
I know there are different web based services and software for App development. But I am totally overwhelmed over where to start and I’d rather not learn to code from scratch.
If anyone could point me in the direction of any required reading/research, web tutorials or lectures I would be most grateful. Or if there is software that would allow me to develop the app easily. I don’t really like to idea of signing up with an online service in case I want to move the app to a business model in the future.
Alternatively any affordable services that allow me to keep full control of the app even if I unsubscribe could work.
Thanks in advance
Rumski
