Maybe not OEM, Im sure that there will be a third party will make high capacity battery.
I also wonder 2-3 years from now when the oem battery start declining to hold full charge. If i can get oem regular size battery and swap it out.
Or i dont give a ef about this phone! Lol

Hate to burst your bubble, but there probably wont be a larger third party battery made specifically for the Nexus 5. You will be able to buy the same LG-BT9 battery the nexus 5 comes with, but that is probably the biggest thing that will fit.
The problem is that there is no demand for it. The Nexus 5 will be a small portion of the cell phones on the market, and only a small fraction of THAT small fraction would be willing to take the N5 apart just to swap a battery.
There is no reason for a battery company to make a new battery for us, if it is not profitable. In the entire existence of non-removable battery phones, there has never been a larger solution made by a manufacturer specifically for any phone. Including the Iphone, and that says something.

I see a few sellers on aliexpress for an KBTEL internal 3830 mah battery for the nexus 5.
I looked up information regarding kbtel, but I could not find much. However, it seems like those who have had batteries manufactured by them have had no issues; mind, that's my research on a tiny sample size.
I am personally sceptical of its quality, especially since the battery was entirely manufactured in the PRC, and that KBTEL's reputation has yet to be tested.

Most 3rd party batteries claim much higher capacities than reality. Also the margins OEMs meet mean that their capacity is much closer to advertised than 3rd party. I wouldn't say its worth doing.

when is something like double the capacity of the original battery, then usually it's safe to say that it is going to beable to last quite a bit longer, because its larger than the stock battery. If someone is advertising that size but its in the stock form factor then you know that they're lying. But if it's like a double stack battery with a separaterear to the case, It's going to last longer

Yeah if it's genuinely double the size it will possibly last an extra 50% but how will it fit?

[Q] Extended battery live 2450mha

Anyone tried this one:
http://www.ebay.nl/itm/2450mAh-HIGH...663?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item53e9602c2f
sounds promissing...
100% fake.
Sent by Skeletor from Castle of Greyskull using XDA Premium App
I've got one of these. However they are fake? The battery life from what I've seen is not too much more than the normal battery. I've got another which came with my dock and I don't see much difference between that which is 1600 and the "2400". Also I may not be the best person to comment on it as I change my rom so much I use a lot of power in different roms which use more or less power.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
It's not fake!
I have this battery about a month now and it's really great ok it's not sooo big but it lasts at least 2 days of full use,so obviously it's not fake it's really great and i think it worth to spend 10 bucks for it...
Please guys, be realistic.
How the hell should some unknown manufacturer put 2450 mAh of power in the same technology (Li-Ion) in the same size and shape in a battery with the same safety standards?
Based on basic chemistry knowledge that is pure bull****.
Even Mugen had problems pressing 1500 mAh in the same size and I'm sure they had to make the walls a little thinner (what is pretty risky) for that amount of energy-rich mass.
That is absolutely impossible and it is naive to think it is real.
It may be a halfway good replacement for the stock battery but it does never reach 2450 mAh. Never.
All of you guys who think the battery life is longer than stock may think as a placebo effect. As Dr. Lele said it's impossible to pack so much in so little size as of today's technology.
lol, the only battery that has better performance than the OEM one, is Mugen's.
They managed to squeeze 1500mAh into the battery.
I am planning to commercialise a 3000mAh Gold (etc) battery on ebay, with secret Chinese circuitry, for just €6 (no, not really)
what i've learnt about replacement batteries -> if it looks too good to be true, it DEFINITELY isn't true.

Very true. I think a lot of it is the placebo effect... I tend to on a morning go and get that "2450mah" battery instead of the stock HTC ones. Most the time I cycle through the batteries but if I have to choose, I choose that just because it may get a little bit better battery life.... But I'm also worried it's cheaply made and might leak or something inside the phone..
Fake

over 2000mAh for less than 10 bucks? suuuuure....
oh wait...it's got a gold label! must be legit!!
Ive got a 1900mAh battery which is a good chunk bigger than the stock 1230mAh battery from htc and i won't ever believe that someone can produce such a "golden" battery out of thin air....
Unfortunately these batteries are likely going to only have 2 of the 3:
1. Upgraded capacity
2. Safety
3. Longevity
The only other option is a 3.8v chemistry battery, which is being used by Motorola, but it will likely not be fully charged by the phone.
Anyway, the stock battery gives 4.55 Whrs, a 3.8v version would give 4.67 Whrs. Which is to say, you're basically getting nothing extra.
Meh no trust gold battery...

No, the answer is that it is physically impossible to produce such a battery. Please try again.

any way to put in a larger battery?

i've become used to a 4500 mah battery in my s3 lasting 12+ hours of heavy game/internet/video use. really want to try the m8 but afraid of the non user replaceable battery.
Short of cutting off the back of the case, and trying to solder a new battery in, and finding one that will work with your phone...no. However, since it's not a user replaceable battery, you kind of answered yourself.
More than likely you'll be able to get a special case with included external battery.

Sure, follow the instructions here: :silly:

Then try to find a larger battery that will fit into the existing space.
Good luck, you're going to need it!
NOTE: All kidding aside, there's a reason it's called a non-removable battery!
If you need that big of a battery, do not get any phone with non - removable battery. Period.

This is the solution. Anker makes a 3000 mAh option that is barely bigger than the 18650 battery inside it. If that's not enough power, they offer options all the way up to 12000 mAh.

It is a true unibody metal design. The answer from a cost and modding standpoint is "no way" and the only practical solution is a power pack.
BTW, it would seem HTC must be eating some healthy margin with this design strategy. The build seems too good and that usually comes at a cost. Wonder what their financial quarter results will be for the next two cycles. My education and work background is industrial technology and computer electronics. The M8 cost implications give my brain twitches. Not just the material cost, but the actual manufacturing process and design cost. Yikes.

Will you be getting the Nexus 5 2015?

http://mobilesyrup.com/2015/05/25/go...nes-this-fall/
The site is reporting that Google will follow up the Nexus 5 with another LG-built smartphone, a 5.2-inch device dubbed ‘Angler’. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 808 chip and a 2,700mAh battery, though both of those details could change. The idea is to recreate the success of the Nexus 5 by releasing Angler at the $350-$400 price point.
The device will presumably be officially announced tomorrow at the I/O conference, so I'm saving my opinion until then : )
Depends on the size. If it really is modeled after the G4 I am undecided. The G4 is a big phone. I'd have to play with one.
Would love to see a bigger battery in the new 5!
My next phone will be dual-SIM and waterproof. If this phone fulfills these requirements then yes, I could consider it.

will definitely consider if the overall size remains more or less the same as n5..
Went from nexus 5 to one plus one. Waited until they announced the nexus 6 before I made that choice and I'm glad I did. I'm interested in the 5.2 size but the price is a big factor to me.
At this point it would need to offer seriously better battery life for me to consider it. Spec wise the Nexus 5 is still powerful enough and features I'd want like stereo speaker there is a Nexus 5 mod to replicate; and fully functioning Ambient display is available on CM CAF. I don't care about a camera, speaker, or display upgrade as the Nexus 5 is more than fine for me. I have a launch week device that is is mint condition minus a hairline crack by the SIM slot and I just put in a brand new OEM battery that was manufactured this January so I'm good for a while.

I will get one if i have 350€ left over. Probably wont happen, as I save for a motorcycle this summer. Maybe the Nexus 2016 or something next, altough its more of a "wanting" thing than a "needing".
Oh and if you all are so desperate for a battery only, you can get a Polarcell 2450 mah for way to much money (140€ in europe, simular $) or a bigger back with a big battery like 3800mah for 20€ or 20$.

Android M seems to improve the camera, and it's only a matter of time before roms are released to make the experience on the nexus 5 even greater!
I worked for a well-known cell phone company, and let me just say the whole camera on the cellphone is just a gimmick companies use for buyers to buy their phones every year, along with other features but camera being near the top. It's the easiest way to attract the buyer. Seriously.
Expecting a great quality picture from a tiny micro camera is unrealistic. My advice for anyone who reads this, just use the phone as it's meant to be used and not for the gimmicks.

This is silly. Everything a cell phone manufacturer puts in a phone is to attract a buyer, regardless if you label it as "gimmick." It's a useful feature that the vast majority of smartphone owners use regularly. Gimmicks are generally just to suck people in and then they're forgotten. It's pretty obvious if you've ever owned more than one phone that picture quality can vary wildly, and truly be acceptable for normal day-to-day use as a camera in most cases.

Standard fit / high capacity battery

Do any exist, which are safe and reliable?
On previous notes, I bought a slightly higher capacity Mugen but can't find any for the note 4 (in the UK).
My phone is now 9 to 10 months old and the battery is tiring (I think). Maybe a refresh is due. I can imagine the higher speed charging kills them off sooner too. ANOTHER good reason why the Note 5 should have a removable battery. A a built in battery will be performing under par in no time.

I hope you find what you're looking for... I am hooked on high capacity batts, and now even the little handed wife can handle a Hyperion 8000 batt with TPU case easily- they're not as brick-like as the zerolemon. Bought a new 8000 and a case for a total of 38 bucks with free shipping on amazon yesterday.
But everyone has their own way of wanting things- hope it works out. If it doesn't, though, I'll offer that it really doesn't take long to adapt to the Hyperion type with it's case. That same case works with the Anker 6400 too. Both have been great performers for me.
Cheers!

Thanks for your input. I'm more inclined towards the standard fit because of the accessories I already have: the car support, the cases, etc.. An oversize higher capacity battery would imply further investment in other stuff, while a standard fit would just (hopefully) improve a little on the OEM battery. If any of the batteries mentioned can fit the original samsung car windshield support I'd consider them a an option.
I just received this one today and so far it seems pretty good. Same size as OEM but it took noticeably longer to charge so the extra capacity seems legit. I had a Deep Stretch for my Sensation back in the day and it was great, so we'll see after a few days how this one performs in the ol' note 4.

I saw that battery, but passed it up due to the blurry photo (and the battery looks in the photos like it's a cheap battery with a sticker on it) and the generic reviews (as if the seller may have made a few of them). It just all looked like a cheap battery to me.
Let us know how it performs. Longer charging time may not indicate a bigger battery, especially if the battery really is a cheap Chinese battery or something.

OK so after a couple days with this battery I can say that it's good. The more I use it the better it seems to get too, on the first day it was roughly the same as my stock battery but today it's lasting a lot longer. I am getting a noticeable bump in overall life, ending my day with about 30% more juice left than I normally do.
Deep Stretch is legit, like I mentioned before I had one of their batteries a few years ago with my Sensation and it gave me noticeably more life as well. These aren't good if you're wanting a major increase in battery life, but they're great just to get your phone comfortably through a day of moderately heavy use without having to bulk it up.

This battery uses new technology? How could they made a same size but much higher capacity comparing to stock one? Could you post your onscreen time with this battery?
I am always skeptical about batteries that claim higher capacity while not being physically larger. Not saying these are bad but for I wouldn't buy it for the bigger number on the package. Personally, I tend to go with OEM batteries, bought with retail packaging from a reputable seller. Sure these are too expensive for what they are, but at least, I know what I am getting.
It is worth noting that li-ion/li-po batteries degrade slowly over time. So when you change your year-old battery for a new one, you are very likely to notice an improvement, even if you replaced it with the exact same model.

I ended up getting a v10 the other day, but I did use the battery for about 2 weeks and it definitely did give me a noticeable bump in overall life. For $25 I would say go for it.

So-called 'slim' extended batteries make me suspicious.....

For years now manufacturers have thought we prefer having dead but omg so thin phones instead of ones that actually make it through the day. I've always bought phones that had removable batteries so that I could buy extended batteries and turn my phone into a brick that allows me to charge it at night and use at will during the day. Most of these are oversized and require a special back cover. However, I see a lot of 'slim' extended batteries that can fit into your current phone without a bigger back. They're plentiful, and they're cheap. So why don't manufacturers just include an extended battery that is the same volume but more capacity?
I suspect that perhaps they're less safe? I recently had an extended battery start bulging inside my phone and pushed the screen up a little. I wouldn't have noticed if the screen hadn't started coming up. Scared me a little, we've all seen the pics of phones that have exploded in people's pockets.
Does anyone know more about this than me?

I've never had an issue with the extra large extended batteries that require a special back. Those always give a huge boost to battery life.
The slim one that I put in my G3 D855, however, is definitely a dud. I'm on a Marshmallow ROM that shows the estimated electricity use per app, in mAh, which has made it really handy for calculating the capacity of the battery. Every time my calculation comes up at about 3000 mAh, the capacity of the stock battery.
So that's $15 American that I'll never see again....oh well. Guess you can't have your cake and eat it too. My next battery will be gigantic.
the slim battery was to cheap and the reason for bulging
