Does anyone know what material the camera lens is made of?
Is it Sapphire, Gorrilla glass or just plain plastic or glass?
It sticks out so far compared to the rest of the body, asking to be scratched... My last phone's screen was GG2 and it scratched when I put it face down on a table.
Cheers

after a quick google search, i think im confusing it with the g2. i've been reading so much about the note 3, g2, and n5 over the past few weeks that some of it seems to be blending together
Any ideas people? I have been doing research online and like Enddo I can only find out about the G2.
Perhaps as it's not mentioned anywhere it is just standard glass or plastic... Anyone know someone who works closely with LG or Google?
The lg g2 camera lens is made of sapphire. The nexus 5 shares many components of the lg g2, so the only logical sense is the nexus 5' camera lens is made of sapphire.

Well, the G2 has a totally different and much smaller lens so it would cost less to make it out of sapphire - on the topic of costs as well the G2 costs a fair bit more to cover things like a sapphire lens.
Just my thoughts...

Yeah, I seriously doubt it's a sapphire lens. That would be very expensive (relatively) as the camera lens is huge on this phone. I think it's just glass or maybe Gorilla Glass 3 (though I doubt it). Sapphire is expensive for phones just like it is for watches, even the iPhone only covers the very small portion of the camera with it only on the 5/5S.
That is not the lens. That is a protective cover. It may also have some optical coating, but not likely as it is too exposed to stand up to wear. In short, I believe it to be a low refraction, highly transmissive synthetic corundum. The actual lens is behind this. You can see an aperture in the gentee of a grey little mount. If you look carefully while the camera is running you can see it move to compensate for movement.
Edit: or it is just cheap, plain glass. Anyway, it isn't the lens.

Hi guys!
I was reading xda when saw a topic about lenses. I was looking for some cheap solution and found this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-67X-Detachable-Wide-Angle-Macro-Lens-for-iPhone-4G-4S-iPod-Phone-Camera-DC125B-/230858237319?pt=US_Other_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item35c0392587
It's designed for iPhone but I'm sure it is compatible with our Nexus because our camera is even inner than the iPhone's one.
Maybe the LED flash cause some problems, but if I understand corretly it works with a 3M sticker-ring, which is magnetic, so you can attach the lenses to it.
Any thoughts?
Sorry for my English.

I have very similar ones in silver. They are compatible with the N4. There is a very slight 'dark' bit around the edge of the images due to it not quite being wide enough inside but it's hardly noticeable. If you'd like to see some sample images taken with the wide angle and macro, let me know.

Mine stuck without any issue (with and without a screen protector). If you're finding that it's not sticking, try using a hairdryer to heat the adhesive and allow to cool naturally.
I want one of those microscope lenses like Sherlock has on Elementary but the fisheye looks cool too.
We're toying with the idea. Would you want this for your device? Price would be firm at $4.
We originally gave the front piece a try for the Nexus 4. The slight curvature on the right and left sides of the face mean that the skin would have to end around 1.5-2mm short on each side. This also means there is no possibility for full bevel. The front skin would be split into individual top and bottom pieces. If we find an overwhelmingly positive response, we'll release this within a week. All of the cutouts, as well as the outer limits of each top and bottom piece would (obviously) be as precise as possible, with as much coverage as is physically possible without any possibility of the skin peeling up over time.

I would but personally I would want a screen protector as well. Maybe a hybrid piece with a screen protector option to the front skin? I have the same issue with the Nexus 7, but I cut my own screen protector.

No chance for a screen protector. Sorry about that man, it's just that it requires a 100% dust-free facility (something we don't have right now). Even a single speck of dust on a given unit would = defective.

Yes please. I'd be all over that.

Yes! Do it! I'd buy 2 right off the bat!
I would give that a try. The front of the nexus 4 has slight curve to it so no clue how the skin would fair on a curved surface, there would be a chance for it to flap off but knowing how strong the back skin sticks, front should be fine. Also one thing to take in consideration, many people use screen protectors for the front. Those who would have those pricy ones would bail on the front skins. Yes you could cut the screen protectors but I don't know if people would want to do that. Another thing, there are various cases for the phone, I'm guessing most people just use a bumper, since the skin would be offsetted on all sides by 1.5-2 mm it should be fine. I'm not saying its not a good idea, just a few things to take in consideration. You guys could give it a whirl and see how it fairs before you keep it on your site officially. Then again, at 4 bucks it is awesome.
I would give it a try

i wish you guys made phone cases with the same patterns/designs
No please don't! Dbrand is known for not only their precision, but how closely it covers the entire surface. Makes the skin blend in with the phone so much that it starts looking like a part of it. The front skin, as it would not go over the curves will look like a patch over the screen. Take a look at how bad the dry application SPs look because they cannot go over the curved edges compared to their wet counterparts. A front skin thus would be completely contrary to what you guys strive for.
Not only that, but since one of the main features of a nexus is the smooth, buttonless screen that aids swipe gestures, a front screen would hinder the movement. Also, and this might just be me, front skins cheapen the look of the phone and make the screen look smaller.
Again, this is just my .02
I'd be willing to try it

It would be a little piece on the top and then a little one on the bottom? I don't think that would look very nice. Any pictures?
I'm going to vote no, I don't think the front pieces would work well with any screen protectors, the back skins are plenty
Sent from my Nexus 4
If you had some sort of mock-up or possibly some real life pics that could make my decision. Without seeing what it could look like, I can't imagine it looking that great.
I voted NO, I've spent too much on finding the right screen protector so that I can keep the screen looking like new. Now if people had one of the glass screen protectors like the fantom4, maru labs or Holy grail then maybe it would be a good idea.
You guys are being irrational. A simple solution to this problem would be to put a screen protector over or under the skin. That's what i do with the rear skin. I just cut off a little piece of the protector so when i need to take it off i can without removing the skin, same idea

dbrand already nixed the idea, saying it wouldn't really look right.
Before I even start let me say... Yes I know I'm a little weird when it comes to my phone lol.
I Was cleaning my phone and took it out of the case to wipe it down and noticed in certain light my camera lens has quite a few scratches on it
So my question is... Does anyone else have these scratches? I've always had it in an otter box case. And I am pretty overprotective of my phones. Is it just a sensitive material?

This was an issue with the G2 as well. Through some research, it was decided that - while the lens is Sapphire - it possibly has a coating on it that is susceptible to scratching.
Check out the link to the G2 thread, seems the issue is likely one in the same. FWIW, mine is all kinds of scratched up too.

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. Makes me feel like I should have searched a little harder myself :-x lol
I don't think I'm brave enough to remove the coating like some did for the g2. It also doesn't seem to effect photo quality, but it does bother me haha. At least I know I'm not the only one.

i recommend a gel or similar case or otterbox or similar case even though it could take alot of beat up and still work. It just for the finer area like the camera to prevent destruction...
beside the unknown bootloop that portion of the V20 look nice. I just need to experience the hardware/software

There's a factory installed "screen protector" on the lens cover, which doesn't interfere with the picture quality.
I'd like to think this will provide a decent amount of protection, although nothing will make it bullet-proof less an Otterbox defender or similar (no THX).
I hope the protective film holds up for a while before peeling back,& I'd guess there'll be protective films available on eBay soon,if not already for sale.
Myself,I'm gonna use a liquid sealer on both the display & camera lens cover,I have just enough left over from when I used it on my Note 7:

Hey guys
just received my Moment lens case today.
So far so good, I talked to the owner and the 6T cases will be out sometime in February.
This case seems really solid and the wooden part feels like actual wood (not sure if it is or not)
I'll keep you guys up dated as I play to use it this holiday a lot with the family.

Yeah I'm kinda curious bout that too, Moment took their sweet time releasing this case and I couldn't wait for some "timeline" so I jumped on rhinoshield, the mount does indeed look very similar.
I like moment's lens selection, especially that anamorphic lens, I may just buy a lens to see for myself and if I need a case, I'll get it

I can't find a real review of the moment lens on the oneplus 6. I've been googling reviews everyday.
What's it like?
I've personally been waiting for years for Moment to make a OnePlus case!
I was on my OnePlus 2 when a friend got his first lens for his Pixel...
Moment lens are quality, they start to be pricy when you start getting them all considering it's for a cell phone, but at the same time, it's cheap when comparing on getting the equivalent on a DSLR... So it's a little mix feeling.
Really thought, your phone is the best camera you almost always have with you and much compact to carry around a couple Moment lens then a camera bag.
I used to be a full time photographer so it's not going to replace any of my gear when I really want a quality photo but it's definitively a fun tool to carry around.
I just received my black case and the wide angle. Looks and work very well!
Here are some sample shots I today with and withought the wide
Cheers
The distortion of the wide 18mm is driving me nuts. It looks like everything is slanted away from the lens.
Bought a moment wide 18mm v2 for my OnePlus 6T. But since the case isn't it yet, I also bought a Sirui 60mm (direct competition to the new Moment 58mm tele) with the same lens mount... and that comes with a clip-on style.
So I put the clip on my 6T and mounted the Moment wide lens on the clip. And no matter how I mounted it, there is a HUGE amount of blockage in the corners of my smartphone viewfinder.
Curious to know, how close does the moment oneplus 6 case comes to the OnePlus 6 lens? Because the sirui clip is not more than 1mm thick and that thickness is already causing the lens to block part of the total image.

I bought the Sirui set that includes wide (18mm?), macro and portrait (60mm) that came with the clip. Then i got the moment case for the OP6. Withe the moment case, i get a small but noticeable dark corners with the wide. The dark corners are barely noticeable with the 60mm. See pics attached (wide, no lens, portrait, in that order).
I should mention that i can't get fingerprint unlock with the lens mounted. Perhaps it would work if i redo the fp with the very tip of my finger.
Pics of the mount please! Shame I can't find a case with 17mm or best, 37mm standard lens mount so that we have a bigger selection.

Not sure what you want to see... Here are some pics of the moment case with and without the sirui 60mm lens.
These lenses are large enough to block the secondary camera on the OP6. Not sure how that affects IQ.
the case looks really beautifull on the backside it also protects the camera, however does it has decent lip to protect the screen ?
