i don't have the n5 (tomorrow should be the day) anyway i think that any standard nfc tag should work. try to avoid the highest capacity ones, those should work only on samsung devices and few others and didn't work on n4. i know it was caused by security issues so the wasn't compatible with secure nfc chip on nexus 4. nexus 5 don't have the security module but in your place i wouldn't risk.

I have a bunch that I was using with my Xperia ZL and they don't work with the Nexus 5. They originally said they were not compatible with the Galaxy S4 or the Nexus, so it would seem like anything compatible with the Nexus 4 will work with the Nexus 5.
I can read the tags I have with trigger, but I can't write to them. And the tag doesn't trigger my activities on the Nexus 5.

Just because the Xperia ZL compatible with classic 1k tags, but the newer devices (N7 2013, N4 etc) wont compatible with these tags. Try with NTAG 203 or ultralight tags.

Not jet. Actually my Nexus 5 on the way, I will recive next week beginning, i can try after with NTAG203.
But if you check the deatails, you can see the N5 use BCM20793m NFC controller, same like Nexus 7 (2013). You can check the compatibility in here.

Thanks for that link, very helpful, so it seems that NTAG 203 model/version/type is universal to all NFC chips?

Yes, the NTAG203 definitely compatible almost all device. .

ditto what everyone else said - NTAG203 but if you need more memory, say for a complete Vcard (electronic business card) or any other reason, then also Topaz 512 tags which have almost 3 X's the memory of the standard NTAG203 tag but are also universally compatible with all NFC devices.

This is where I got my tags from too, no issues whatsoever.

I have issues with the Mifare Classic 1k

You could try to use various recycled NFC Tag's. Free

mifair 1K tags will not work on the N5 or N7.2
they do work on the Gnex
I have used the 203 with no problems, and the topaz512 seem to work fine when you need more info on a tag.
simple trigger commands use the 203, and info tags are on the topaz tags. I'll get the amazon links later if google doesn't work for you.

Sony smartwatch

I just ordered a sony smartwatch and I was wondering if anyone with a nexus 4 has one to confirm if they work together. I know the watch works with most android devices but since our nexii have 4.2 I don't know if they will work together. Any input would be appreciated!

Please let us know how that works! I have a pebble whenever it ships lol. But I was reading up on this just the other day. I read that it is better than the first LiveView, which I have and now collecting dust, it's not really that great. I hope I am wrong, but please do let us know how it works with the N4!

I cannot get your link to your review to work.
Also if you don't mind me asking where did you purchase the watch? I recently bought one from an Amazon store (Decrescent) and it shows almost a month for delivery. Just curious if you bought it from the same place and how fast it shipped.
Thanks

buy before 09/30

Hi! I have to buy a tab 10" before the end of this month or at least the the fist week of october (to watch movie, mail, social network and NOT playing games or calling).
Nexus 10 is my choose.
Do you think the new version will be on the market before that date?
do you have suggestion? :fingers-crossed:
Thank you!

Yep, i don't think second edition of nexus 10 can be that good. On the other hand, note 10.1 can be expensive at first.

Well if it's made by Asus I'll definitely pass... The first note was $500 for the 16gb and $550 for the 32gb but they take microsd also so it's a pretty good deal. But the new nexus 10 most likely will be a little cheaper
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
I don't see what all the note love is about... I never found any of those added bloat features useful and the nexus 10 is $100 cheaper.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4
I had both nexus 10 and note 10.1 and they both were great devices... There's a few features the note had that people on the nexus and other devices were asking for like the multitasking. So some of that added bloat is useful features

I am extremely intrigued by the recent Nexus 5 rumors. A 5" display in a phone smaller than the Nexus 4? I would love that. 2300mah battery is a bummer though...

I thought the s4 was getting close to the limit of screen/bezel ratio but I guess not. Very intrigued indeed.

Right?? If it comes with at least 32gb of storage and costs $300-$350, I'll almost certainly be getting one.
I would get the LG G2

The G2 is very nice... but I'm curious to see what comes out between now and March of 2014... For now I'll wait.
I just broke my S3 and am getting a replacement with my protection plan.
I have the choice of Note 2 or S4 ....
what do you think? advice other than screen size please

Well 2 different purposes IMO, but I'll give it a try......
S4 is 1080 p - Note 2 is 720 p
No S-pen obviously for the S4, but with the AIR gestures, you still can hover with your finger to preview things and it has eye detector features such as Smart Stay/Pause/Scroll which I believe are not on Note 2.
Battery life is better on the Note 2, as it has a bigger battery than the S4
That's as far as I know about those 2 beasts
Edit : I just remembered this video ... that Tony Stark guy made a good comparison :

[Q] Buy Nexus 5 or wait for 6?

I am planning to buy a new android phone and shortlisted Nexus 5 and Xperia ZR. I think Nexus 5 would be a better choice because of its large development support but question in my mind is "Is it worth waiting for Nexus 6?". There is no fixed date for Nexus 6 but hopefully it will be announced in Q4 of this year. Please suggest, should i buy nexus 5 or wait for nexus 6? Is it worth waiting for?
From my research cons of nexus 5 that i don't want to get with are: Battery life and Camera. And both of these might get upgraded in Nexus 6.
Thanks in advance.
We don't even know if there will be a 6. The rumour mill says not. Its an impossible question

Google confirmed that the nexus program isn't going anywhere. There probably will be a successor to the nexus 5,it would only make sense since android L supports 64 bit, maybe even put more than 3gb. Who knows, it's all speculation

Afaik google only confirmed the nexus tablet range. But as we both said it's all speculation so it would be ridiculous to try and base any purchasing decision on an unknown future.

Should i go for nexus 5 then? The thing that is making me worried about nexus is its battery, is there any way i can fix it?
Or i should go for something else?
The battery is fine. Go for what you want. Read reviews. Its pretty old now. Only 9 months left of updates.

I never said it was, but I may have had a reply saying not to bother because for whatever reason the n5 doesnt work or is temperamental with it it would have saved me £30

Calm down His point was, that Chromecast isn't specifically related to the Nexus 5, regardless if you're using it with a Nexus 5 or not. There's a Chromecast forum too.
I know... But if I asked elsewhere then people with N5's would not have necessarily answered

There is a thread specifically for Chromecast. What difference does it make if people with N5 answered or not?
Because if for some reason the N5 software doesn't work for it then I'd never know and buy one for £30 for no reason

wow, xda is filled with jerks nowadays >.>. Would rather put him down instead of kindly telling him you might get better feedback by posting in the chromcast forum. Jeez
And if you use plex you can use your N5 to search your home server and chromecast a movie from your pc to your tv.
Just buy it, I already have two of them here.
Cheers!
Cool I'll get one bought, thanks to all the useful people! ?
