Anyone got one? What's your options on it?
Thanks

What's it have to do with the N5?
You use it with your n5 obviously

Didn't know it was exclusive to the N5..... You can use use it on every phone including iPhone.
Should of posted in the general Q&A.

Works great. My wife uses it to watch shows while she works out on her iPad. Works real well on the n5 too

it's awesome, install plex, Netflix and you can "tell" your Chromecast to play a movie/song/photos on your TV using your N5 from your bed or couch.

I never said it was, but I may have had a reply saying not to bother because for whatever reason the n5 doesnt work or is temperamental with it it would have saved me £30
So as you have nothing useful to say please troll off elsewhere

Calm down His point was, that Chromecast isn't specifically related to the Nexus 5, regardless if you're using it with a Nexus 5 or not. There's a Chromecast forum too.
I know... But if I asked elsewhere then people with N5's would not have necessarily answered

There is a thread specifically for Chromecast. What difference does it make if people with N5 answered or not?
Because if for some reason the N5 software doesn't work for it then I'd never know and buy one for £30 for no reason
Sent from my Android L Nexus 5 via Tapatalk
Works perfect with my n5. We use it all the time. Mainly for Netflix and YouTube
Sent from my Nexus 5
wow, xda is filled with jerks nowadays >.>. Would rather put him down instead of kindly telling him you might get better feedback by posting in the chromcast forum. Jeez
And if you use plex you can use your N5 to search your home server and chromecast a movie from your pc to your tv.
Just buy it, I already have two of them here.
Cheers!
Cool I'll get one bought, thanks to all the useful people! ?

I just ordered a sony smartwatch and I was wondering if anyone with a nexus 4 has one to confirm if they work together. I know the watch works with most android devices but since our nexii have 4.2 I don't know if they will work together. Any input would be appreciated!

Please let us know how that works! I have a pebble whenever it ships lol. But I was reading up on this just the other day. I read that it is better than the first LiveView, which I have and now collecting dust, it's not really that great. I hope I am wrong, but please do let us know how it works with the N4!

I have a Sony liveview watch that works just fine with my nexus 4. I'm guessing the smart watch should work too its just a better version of the liveview.

I have what must be is the first generation of Sony smart watches and all I can say is.... It's terrible, slow and the touch screen logged like hell. Be wary on reviews.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I cannot get your link to your review to work.
Also if you don't mind me asking where did you purchase the watch? I recently bought one from an Amazon store (Decrescent) and it shows almost a month for delivery. Just curious if you bought it from the same place and how fast it shipped.
Thanks
I'm disappointed there's no IR sensor on our phone, cause I could really use it for my TV not having a remote. I don't want a universal remote either. Is there any IR sensor I could buy and attach thru the charger port or connect to my USB OTG? And just like port the Galaxy S4 WatchON app to my phone?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You knew the phone didn't have one when you bought it. If it was that big of a deal why did you get it? Also good dude. I Googled headphone jack ir blaster for android and got several thousand results.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
So, you'd rather have an IR blaster sticking out of the top of your phone, than buy a universal remote? You could probably find a factory replacement for your TV.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Wow, you two for so helpful!!! If you weren't going to offer up solutions, why respond to the thread? And "I found several thousand results"...how about you link one?
Anyway OP...check this one out. www.irdroid.com
uhh they did offer solutions... 1. use google! 2. buy a remote instead.... i'll even give you a 3rd one... get an htc one, perhaps a play edition if you like vanillla android.

Are you dense Sparky? I did offer a solution. Op said he didn't want a universal remote. I was letting him/her know they could probably easily buy a factory replacement. Learn to read Slick.

Sparky? Slick? Oh aren't you clever. He asked specifically for something for his phone.
Don't watch TV as it is mind numbing

Sure am. I gave my suggestion. Sorry it wasn't up to your standards. You don't like it then move on. No need to call anyone out. Especially when they're actually trying to help.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to cause all this. I didn't know what to Google. I looked up add on ir for android and it didn't really help. And I didn't know it didn't have one when I bought it.

So I have the G2 and I have a buddy of mine offering to trade it for a 32GB N5. While I know that its basically the same phone I am more encouraged to simply because I feel that the N5 is more future proof.
Am I wrong for this ? Or should I keep it.

You should change the title to "Might Trade for the Nexus 5".
And to answer your question, yes the Nexus 5 should be more future proof than the G2.

I have changed the title I have offers for both white and black versions I've been reading on some new N5 hardware is there anything I should be looking for when choosing between old and new hardware?

The hardware changes include: larger speaker grills and sturdier buttons. Get the version with the newest hardware. You can tell if it's the newer version if the phone's first three serial numbers are above 311 (312, etc).
There's also another way by looking at the HW Version in the fastboot mode. REV_12 or higher should all have the latest hardware revisions.
Fyi, the G2's base cost (~$669.00 unlocked on ebay) is much greater than the Nexus' base cost ($400 unlocked off the play store). Keep that in mind before trading.
The G2 has a better camera and battery.
I almost got one but found a good deal on a Nexus 5.

Yeah I know its a better phone but I guess I was just thinking future wise ....I guess at this point i might as well keep it then, root and install CM11

I personally would go with the Nexus 5 because of official software updates and the day development community that continues to grow!
If you don't care much about development and timely/official updates from google then I'd say stick with the G2.

I would trade the G2 for nexus 5 and sell the g2 and rebuy nexus 5 and you would probably make a profit

Ok if someone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. I want to buy a nexus phone but since its this late I was going to wait for the nexus 6 (if it was going to be called that) but now I'm reading about Android 'Silver' and how it might mean there will be no more nexus devices. Sodo you guys think that its true about no more nexus phones? And should I buy the nexus 5? Or do you guys think they'll continue on to another nexus device?

Best to go here, read and interact with members there... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620179
I am planning to buy a new android phone and shortlisted Nexus 5 and Xperia ZR. I think Nexus 5 would be a better choice because of its large development support but question in my mind is "Is it worth waiting for Nexus 6?". There is no fixed date for Nexus 6 but hopefully it will be announced in Q4 of this year. Please suggest, should i buy nexus 5 or wait for nexus 6? Is it worth waiting for?
From my research cons of nexus 5 that i don't want to get with are: Battery life and Camera. And both of these might get upgraded in Nexus 6.
Thanks in advance.
We don't even know if there will be a 6. The rumour mill says not. Its an impossible question

Google confirmed that the nexus program isn't going anywhere. There probably will be a successor to the nexus 5,it would only make sense since android L supports 64 bit, maybe even put more than 3gb. Who knows, it's all speculation

Afaik google only confirmed the nexus tablet range. But as we both said it's all speculation so it would be ridiculous to try and base any purchasing decision on an unknown future.

Should i go for nexus 5 then? The thing that is making me worried about nexus is its battery, is there any way i can fix it?
Or i should go for something else?
The battery is fine. Go for what you want. Read reviews. Its pretty old now. Only 9 months left of updates.

Me and many have no battery issues. The Nexus5 is still rocken and a lot of fun on XDA!
