Is there an app that can take advantage of the ir sensor? Besides the one bundled with the tab? (I forget its name too)
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
I believe that it is an emmiter, not a sensor.
Wondering this myself...peel does an OK job but I'd like to use it as a big harmony remote if possible.

I've been looking too but haven't found any app to use the ir blaster. I made a request to the peel developers to include codes for my sharp projector. Does anyone know if I can configure peel for only a stereo receiver?
I emailed them also and asked if they would allow peel to run on cm9. It refuses to even load for me. Could be no kernel support also.

Peel sucks!!!!!! Would be awesome to use as a regular remote.

Hi, If anyone could provide me with the Peel APK from a Tab 2.0 with IR blaster, I would like to take a look, I want to get a Tab 2 7.0 for remote control, but in the UK they don't have the IR blaster.
Before I import one with a blaster, I want to be sure that I can write my own IR app for the device. I'm very happy to share any findings with the community. Hopefully we will be able to roll our own IR API, as according to the Samsung dev site there is no API available.
Cheers,

I can't get it to control my Sony TV, Blu-Ray, and Audio system.
It's Sony, I would think they would have codes for a fairly Old and popular brand.
sony app
I also am unhappy with the peel app and am looking for a way to get the app from the sony tablet s. I found download links in the sony tablet forum, but cant get them to install. Heres a link to the forum page with the download links: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650834 Hopefully someone who knows more about the .apk files and how they work can get this to work. The sony app looks far superior to peel.

I've been looking for an app as well, I don't have cable cause i download all of my movies and tv shows. It would be nice to have a remote of some sort, even if its just a simple one... The Peel doesn't seem to work. I tried alot of the different IR apps out there with no luck...

There is a Demo version of Touchsquid that Works on the Tab 2, the guys that made it are very helpful.

Does it have to use data continously? That's the only drawback to peel so far.

I am downloading this app now, looks like it could be an answer, i will test it out when I get home and let everyone know how it works... Especially since it seems aimed at Samsung Tab 2 for its IR
I downloade the app. It does not need connectivity. I dont get what the paid app is for, plus it is really expensive.

I tried out touchsquid on my LG and didn't get any response... I was really just hoping for something like a universal remote. Like where you can program pretty much any TV to it. Not just a few groups...
UPDATE: I called into TouchSquid and they were really cool with their support division, they said that if the code groupings don't work then email them your model of TV and they can probably find the codes for you. I've never really dealt (or had a number to call) any of the app developers before, nice to have that kind of support, and the Tab 2 is what they do most of their testing on!
Hey guys:fingers-crossed:
Last summer I found this forum and had alot of fun with my Xperia Pro
Now I am looking for new phone, its been 4 months and still spending too much energy to find my perfect phone..
So, which from these phones u think is best to buy?
s2, s3 mini, s advance, s plus optimus black, one S, xperia sola, arc S
It also need much-very much development
Thanks!
I'd go with the nexus 4

True. 2nd hand now only €200.. But if go more for a mid-range phone, which one has acceptable specs and ALOT / moderate development??
Thnx bro:good:
The Nexus 4 when it will be released again.

but it doesnt fit your pocket does it? I used to travel alot as student and I only want good camera and some big development nothing more.. So a phone like HTC one SV would be my best choice [mid-range]

I just went to an electronics store today, and it was displaying the galaxy note 2. It looks amazing. I played with it a little bit. It is really zippy; everything turns on instantly when u click on it. It is a little big, but very light and slim. You could actually fit in a regular pocket. I am still debating of whether to get the s3 or the note2. Although the note2 would fit perfectly for my work, because I converse a lot on the computer through emails, charts and PDF documents.

In the Netherlands it's 300 euros?
And It's mid-end, great perfomances for that budget, the only downside is the small community (yet).

I'm disappointed there's no IR sensor on our phone, cause I could really use it for my TV not having a remote. I don't want a universal remote either. Is there any IR sensor I could buy and attach thru the charger port or connect to my USB OTG? And just like port the Galaxy S4 WatchON app to my phone?

You knew the phone didn't have one when you bought it. If it was that big of a deal why did you get it? Also good dude. I Googled headphone jack ir blaster for android and got several thousand results.

So, you'd rather have an IR blaster sticking out of the top of your phone, than buy a universal remote? You could probably find a factory replacement for your TV.

Hello, I saw this and I think that Sony are making a new smartwatch and it could be announced at the CES.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/24/sony-wrist-notifier-bt-fcc/?ncid=rss_truncated
And the worst thing is that I just recently bought SW2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
yeah, read it on talkandroid, wonder if it's really a watch or something completely different
Some are guessing it could be a fitness device to compete with fit bit and Nike fuel bands
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I really hope it will be some kind of Nike Fuel band or a bracelet with a small LCD screen to show notifications with icons... I'm saying this because i've bought a SW2 for christmas so I hope that Sony will stick up with this for updates in the next months. And IMHO Sony Mobile should advertise a lot more its products.
I just got mine a month ago but I'd like to see a new one with a speaker/mic for calls and texts via google now, that would be the perfect one to me
I am hoping that the next watch to have Google now, and a better higher res screen and possible running android as than It would be fast as at the moment it sometimes takes 5 seconds to open an app

Well, given the several iterations higher model number, the new watch could be their Galaxy Gear competitor with a price tag to match, ie their flagship/highend watch, and the SW2 will be their mid-line watch.
I hope too will be a Nike fuel thing. Not because I have bought the sw2 but I need a freaking pedometer that just works and can show phone notifications.

Now that CES is right around the corner with the expectations of new smartwatches being announced by Archos.,Cockoo, Samsung (Gear 2) etc,. SONY might just announce the SW3. After all they would not want to be behind the competition. Now they also have a pretty good idea about how Samsung perceives a smartwatch. But what SONY should do is improve upon the software rather than coming up for a new device.
Which is sad for me as I recently purchased mine (about a month ago) like many of you.
But lets see what CES brings us. I am actually quite curious about the Archos offering as it is expected to be a low cost (even lower than Pebble) smartwatch.
Pebble Steel looks nice, but only at a discounted price.

Meta from metawatch seems pretty good looks wise. A week battery life is a plus too. I don't really care for a color display. If the software side is good and the price isn't ridiculous, I would seriously consider it.

Is it worth buying the sw2 now? I heard that it had some issues at release with the button on the side and the stability of the firmware. Did it improve in newer firmwares? Is it worth using it with the xzu for quick replying on whatsapp ? Is a sw3 planned? I would appreciate any help. Thanks guys ! I am not sure if I should buy one but actually I really would like to. I have 2 of these Sony's and as much as they have niggles (hardware and software) they only cost £70 each. I couldn't resist the Android Wear so purchased the LG G Watch for more than the price of both Sonys. The LG is going back to Google.
Pro's and Con's of all these devices so only you can decide what's right for you.
But until the beautiful Moto 360 is out, the Sony will be my choice of wrist gadget.
Yes, specially i think most shops around the world they dropped the price of Sony Smartwatch 2, It may not be the coolest and latest watch to date but it got a lot of available apps, better battery life than any smartwatch out there(except Pebble), Design is one among the best,
All of Android Wear LG G Watch and Gear Live(and maybe Moto 360) they don't last more than 1 day, and both of them require lots of swiping to do something.
I think I am going to Buy it next week. Very excited!

Please don't buy this watch i've Sony SW2 and also Samsung Galaxy Gear. Absolutely i can say real SMART watch is Galaxy Gear, SW2's only name called SMART actually its totally dumb, if buy SW2 you got only some changeable wallpaper and watch face. But If buy Gear (not Gear 2) you will got real smart watch, you can develop android apps and you can run apps without phone. SW2, except some very limited things nothing can do without smart phone, because all apps installing and running on the phone. But with Galaxy Gear, you can transfer APK files directly to watch and you can run this APPs on the watch without phone. With Gear you can develope android apps and install them on Gear directly.

If you were SMART enough you would've read the bottom line of his post and you would know that he has a xperia z and not a Samsung device so a galaxy gear ain't gonna work
AND pretty much all galaxy gears get sold with the tizen OS on it and that can't do the things you mention and of course you can spend your time on downgrading the watch to android but again something like a watch should work out of the box
