Camera Focus Issue - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There seem to be a camera focus issue with my Nexus 5. It doesn't focus the subject at all, so the picture doesn't look sharp but rather out of focus. I was holding the phone steady too. Anyone else having the same problem?

Camera - Infinity focus

I've noticed that the mediocre rear camera quality on my TF is partly due to the poor autofocus, especially when the focus point is near infinity e.g. beyond about 20 meters
As the camera auto focusses it passes through the sharpest focus point and settles at about 10m,or even closer.
I haven't found any other threads/posts in the TF forum about this, has anyone else noticed it?

[Q] Samsung Focus camera issues

The camera won't focus on objects close up when trying to take macro shots.
Does this happen to anyone else?
If you are fully updated try tapping the screen to focus on something specific.
Be aware that the (tiny, generally low-quality) lenses used in phones are going to usually be bad at macro anyhow. Do you know what the minimum focus range on the Focus' camera is supposed to be?
Yes, the name "Focus" is a bit of a bad joke considering the camera quality...
The closest I can take a picture is about three inches, when using the camera in Macro auto focus mode. Any closer than that and it's always blurry.

Camera Autofocus Issue

Hi guys!
I've had my OPO for almost a month now and I never really tried the camera.
Yesterday I decided to give it a shot and got pretty good results.
The only thing that I don't really understand is the autofocus on "some" close objects.
For example, even on bright sunlight and even with focus mode on macro and the right ISO (but it do the same even in auto-ISO), if I try to focus my finger in front of the camera (at 7/8 cm) the camera simply doesn't recognize it and it autofocus on the back, so my finger stay blurry. Obviously I told the camera where to focus "tapping" on my finger. With the flash no problem at all.
Do you know how to resolve it or if it's normal? I tried with a Galaxy S3 and an S4 mini and they don't have this issue.
Thanks a bunch
sometimes if there is high contrast it wont focus, to me seems like a contrast focus system.
so if its extremely different tonal range it wont focus... i just try it now what you said with the finger, on a white wall couldnt focus 9/10 times, but when i try to do the same thing on my desk(a little bit darker white than the wall) i didnt had missed focus.. but remember, you had to change the focus mode to macro, on AUTO its a bit buggy

Intermittent OIS camera

So on my nexus 5 the OIS is really intermittent since lollipop. When you open the camera and zoom you should see the picture kinda float instead of shake. Seems like if I lunch photosphere and then go back to regular camera it will come back on. Weird. Happening to anyone else?

Camera focus ?!?!

Hello!
I've just purchased an used Pixel 3a, so far so good. I like the phone. I have some problems, and I think they are software related because the main camera , and the selfie camera have slight focus problems, very often they are out of focus, I tap on the screen and the image is slightly blurry, after 5-6 tries and even 10 tries I get an crisp image, more often on the selfie camera, but on the main camera they are problems too. Never had this problems on my previous Pixel 2XL.
I've tried clear cache and storage on the camera, same problems. I've installed cstark camera Px , same focus problems.
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking to switch to galaxy s10, same form factor bigger display.
Front cam has a fixed focus so you need to keep it at a distance.
Rear cam needs cleaning often, specially when you are not wearing a case.
No problems with tap to focus here so far, latest update and i do a lot of pics.
I hope this helped
