Hello!
I've just purchased an used Pixel 3a, so far so good. I like the phone. I have some problems, and I think they are software related because the main camera , and the selfie camera have slight focus problems, very often they are out of focus, I tap on the screen and the image is slightly blurry, after 5-6 tries and even 10 tries I get an crisp image, more often on the selfie camera, but on the main camera they are problems too. Never had this problems on my previous Pixel 2XL.
I've tried clear cache and storage on the camera, same problems. I've installed cstark camera Px , same focus problems.
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking to switch to galaxy s10, same form factor bigger display.
Front cam has a fixed focus so you need to keep it at a distance.
Rear cam needs cleaning often, specially when you are not wearing a case.
No problems with tap to focus here so far, latest update and i do a lot of pics.
I hope this helped

Hello, this problem is related to the camera apps on my GT-N7100. In fact, I found that the switching between the rear facing and front facing camera is a bit too slow compared to my other phone. As a matter of fact, when I am on the rear facing camera and I want to switch to the front facing camera to film myself, it takes about 8 seconds. This is a bit too long for a phone like Note 2 and even my Atrix has a way better switching speed. But the speed is acceptable when switching back from front to rear camera (about 1 second or 2). This is not just for one camera app, but for many, so I do not think is the problem for a specific app only. I've tried to lower the resolution to the lowest for the front camera, but it doesn't change anything and the speed remains the same. Thanks. I've been searching for a while in this forum and I've seen many of you guys have the same issue, but no one has found a solution. Thanks again.
so i've been toying with my note edge a little, and as i own a note II i decided to place them together and
check out the differences in the camera viewfinder. at first i launched the rear facing camera, and well..
some differences, but all in all both seem to work great. i did however notice something when i launched the
front facing camera. if the regular selfie mode is activated on the note 4 / note edge, the viewfinder gets REALLY choppy.
all movement is also easier blurred. i tested this by making some minor movements with my phone while taking a few
photos, and sure enough, they ended up being really blurred.
i could literally nearly write alphabets with my fingers if i did it fast enough, that's how laggy the movement was.
i have seen several reviews on youtube where this problem occur, even though most reviewers usually don't
pay that much attention to it. as for me, i find it really annoying. i have to keep the phone extremely still to get sharp shots
due to this viewfinder blur/lag issue.
if i activated the wide angle selfie mode, the viewfinder had normal smooth motion and the photos taken were
sharp and crisp, even if i did some elaborate shaking with my hand while shooting.
i paid a lot of money for this device, which makes the disappointment even bigger knowing people buying phones
at half the price still has a better working front facing camera than i do. sure, it does work and it takes great video and / or pictures..
but this doesn't make it flawless. why the normal selfie mode is so choppy and laggy i do not know. pretty surprised this hasn't been fixed,
as i have noticed several others with the same problem.
how about you? is your front facing camera also making the viewfinder seem laggy / choppy in selfie mode, compared to the wide angle selfie mode?
i'd love to hear your opinions on this. :good:

hi there !
i had a bit choppy main camera, it doesn't bother when taking photos but it shows up when i play recorded videos
Hi all
I have a Nexus 5 which on the whole is running really well still - currently on stock Marshmallow.
I'm having a few issues with focussing and getting decent images from the rear main camera. I have to tap several times for the screen to show an image in focus before taking shots. I can get passable shots of images where the focus point and subject is close up but really struggle to get a clear image when the subject is further away - in fact it's almost always out of focus.
I doubt it's a software issue and more likely hardware - especially as I'm a total clumsy cluts and have dropped the phone several times
I'm just not sure what I should look to replace - would it be the rear camera glass or the actual rear camera itself? I think the latter but just wondering what advice is out there from you all before I jump the gun.
Cheers all!
Hi guys,
I appreciate that this is a specific Mix 2 question but couldnt see a mix 2 section yet to post in.
I recieved my Mix 2 about a week ago and my first impressions are that its a great phone - it does everything I want....... apart from when it comes to the cameras.
Firstly, the quality is pretty bad and a large step back from the oppo find 7 I am switching from. Both front and rear facing cameras fail to properly focus and always seem to take photos like there is a dirty lens, a sort of soft look, most obvious when photographing text, which just isnt sharp at all.
Secondly, it appears that the second rear facing camera doesn't do anything - is it even real?!? I believe its there for the optical zoom option, but even when you zoom in with the camera app, you can still cover this camera and it has no effect on the photo, therefore it is not used.
Any ideas on how to improve the picture quality? I presume its going to be a case of waiting for Doogee or some developers to take this device on to update the firmware......
Thanks

A new update of the firmware is being "cooked" to solve this problem.
I know that will be released soon.

It would be great... Camera performance is the main issue of the device. On the other hand, all the other features are quite well
Sorry to put this query here. Even i haven't got any place to right it down. I also have a same problem. Rear camera not working. Bought this phone specially for camera specifications. When will be the updates release to make the second rear camera work. Even 8 MP Nokia camera takes better picture than this 16 MP. And there are many bugs. Many apps crashes. And on YouTube I have seen many videos which shows many camera app showing 4k video recording option, but I think that was after update and I still haven't received it.i show that video 1 month back.
New update from company has improved the camera lil bit. But still not a usable one. And it keeps on hunting for focus in video.
From morning all Google apps are getting closed by itself. Please help to solve the issue in mix 2
no updates have improved the camera on this phone for me so far. Taking photos of static images is ok - maybe 6/10, if I use whatsapp to take a photo of anything it always appears very soft and a little blurred. If I try to take a photo of my cat.....no chance, the shutter is so slow, unless the object doesnt move at all you cant capture the image. I do like the phone and previously havent been bothered about camera specs, but that was when all my previous phones could take decent pictures. This might be the reason I get rid of this phone in a few months, it turns out a decent camera is a must for me - I was spoilt with my Oppo find 7, which had an incredible camera

+1 about camera perfrmance, i bought it to do a review and the camera is the worst thing in an otherwise decent phone. I did a comparison with the honor 7x, which has a much better camera at the same price.
Hdr+
Hallo guys, there isn't a procedure to flash Google camera hdr+ on this smartphone o mediatek CPU. I founded everything for Qualcomm but nothing to mediatek.
Any one able to compare the camera with the Samsung S10? Is it better or worse?
Having both phones, I can say it's worse.
The main issue really is the exposure and whatever HDR+ algorithm they're implementing in the stock camera app. Even though they said it's the same HRD algorithm that was applied by google for pixel phones, I still think it's over exposing everything especially the low tones and shadows - this produce a very unnatural looking picture. (If I wear a black shirt, my pic came out as if I'm wearing a gray shirt due to overexposure on the shadows).
On the other hand, I'm really loving the flip camera and the ability to use wide angle for selfie/group selfie and video. That is definitely the highlight of this hardware. But I will be lying if I say I'm not struggling to love the quality of the pictures produced by this phone.
Have you tried the GCAM port? for me it produces better pics...
The Asus stock camera is hit or miss. Too inconsistent for me, especially the HDR++ mode.
But with arnova's GCam port it is simply amazing and blows away even the pixel 3 cameras.
The wide angle camera in our Asus does not focus as good as the main camera ..try it..also the slow motion videos are not that sharp and crisp.

Agreed, that there is sometimes overexposure, but I like more Asus camera's bright photos instead of GCAM darker photos. GCAM is better in very dark, but I prefer Asus camera often, specially for low light photos. Well, I have exposure compensation + 0,4 in GCAM, but still ...
I can easy say that this is the best cellphone camera on the market now, I installed Gcam and activaed raw.
I have never seen a phonecamera produce such a good raw files, even in low light.
Skintones, natural colors is great on this camera, Samsung, Sony, Huawei. and lot of other manufactors are terrible when it comes to natural skintones, overuse of noisce reduction....
Also the 4K 60fps is very natural and doesn't have the unatural look that almost every other brand have.
