Headphone Amp for S4 - required or not?

I ask as I used to use a Fiio E7 with my iPhone 4 before switching to my current S4 (the amp is now being used as my laptop DAC and with my iPod classic).
Was wondering with my S4, is a headphone amp needed?
Currently using Poweramp to listen to music and my listening gear consists mainly of closed back, wired headphones (e.g. Sennheiser Amperior, Ultrasone Edition 8s etc).
Thanks for any insight!

required? no.
will it make your music sound better? yes
The amp will make the sound louder and maybe will lower the quality. For better sound quality you will need an DAC.

pretty much all portable amps these days comes with a dac.
Headphone? No.
Earphones? Maybe.
I have the Sony XBA2 and it would start crackling at 10/15 volume when the bass hits. The FiiO E17 solved that.
This is the one you want...

[Q] Nexus 5 Vs Galaxy S4 (Same Price)

Hi ! I"m new here and I am using galaxy s2 for more that 2 years.
I know that the nexus 5 is considered as a cheap phone but at the place that I live at the nexus 5 is more expensive that the galaxy S4.
(the nexus 5 is about 740$ and the galaxy 4 is about 700$).
I saw many not so good opinions about the new nexus (camera, speakers, screen and battery life).
I really need your advice I'll use my next phone for for at least 2 years and i must to make the smartest choice.
For almost the same price Nexus 5 Or Samsung Galaxy S4?
go with the nexus 5. I actually switched from the S4 to the 5 and the only thing I can say I miss is the IR Blaster for the TV remote. I have had all the nice phones that my carrier let's me being the S4 the HTC One and now more recently on my table the LG G2 all very nice devices. The nexus doesn't have the greatest battery I will say it is on par with the S4. but when it comes to snappiest and responsiveness the nexus 5 is a force to not to be messed with.

I have had quite a few high end phones and if you like to tinker the N5 is the way to go. IMO
This question was also posted in the Nexus section so your responses will probably be for the Nexus.
I miss my S4 because it never drops signal. My n5 does 5-6 times a day

I would agree to get the Nexus 5. I switched from the GS4 to Nexus 5 and do not regret it. All of the issues people are reporting - I haven't had a single problem. Battery life is better than mYy S4, faster, snappier, camera takes just as good of pictures, no loose buttons, no mic problems, no screen bleeding - not a single problem.
5/5 stars from me.

Anyone switch from a Note 2?

I'm thinking on doing the switch. How are/have you been handling it? Especially the big difference in battery life and no S-pen?
Thanks!!!!

So absolutely worth it not just for the phone but for the Dev support that is backing it, my wife and I as well as a friend of mine all switched to the Nexus 5 and have not looked back!! you will not be disappointed!
And if you make the switch check out my ROM HERE
I switched from note 3 and previously had a note 2. Dev work is nice but you will miss battery and screen big time. After 2 weeks of using the phone you get accustomed to the screen size but battery life is not anything close to a note 2

I went from note 2 to s4 to Nexus 5. Wish I went with note 3 instead of n5. Now I'm waiting on the s5 release next year

I came from a Note 2 and definitely recommend the Nexus 5.
Screen:
The smaller screen takes some getting used to, everything seemed small at first but now I prefer the Nexus screen. The Nexus screen is crisper, brighter and more accurate color wise, no inkly OLED blacks though. The auto brightness on the Note 2 was too conservative and washed out in direct sunlight. The Nexus auto-brightness has a better range.
Battery:
About 20% shorter on the Nexus compared to the Note. I still easily last the full day with solid use, wifi, gps, bluetooth enabled. Wireless charging is very convenient
S-Pen:
I never used the S-pen much so I don't miss it. Although the S-pen was technically impressive, it was always held back by poor software implementation.
Speaker:
Lacking on the Nexus. The 4.4.2 update helped but I miss the Note 2's ear shattering speaker
Speed:
Holy crap, the Nexus is smooth like butter compared to the Note. The Note 2 was no lightweight but the Nexus is a quantum leap forward in speed.
OS:
Kit Kat doesn't take long to get used to. Better multitasking, no Samsung bloatware, fast updates. Nexus can't be beat. Google now is surprisingly awesome.
Misc:
Bluetooth and Wifi connect faster. The Nexus will feel incredibly light compared to the Note 2. Gorilla Glass 3 has higher scratch resistance than the Notes Gorilla Glass 2. Soft touch finish feels luxurious compared to the Note's slippery scratch prone poly-carbonate.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Much appreciated

Those who had/have gs4 Google play edition

I love my Nexus 5 no real complaints with battery I was just wondering though if anyone here has had or have GS4 GPE? If so how smooth is the phone compared to the N5? Was thinking of trading this in for my GF GS4 and loading a GPE ROM onto it and either buying an extended battery or buying a few OEM batteries. Coming from the Note 2 maybe I am just spoiled. This is not a rant or anything I knew the battery was non replaceable and knew the battery was significantly less than than the N2. I am just assessing if buying a battery pack for the N5 or swapping this for a s4 would be best for me. I know this is subjective just wondering what each individual experience was/is.

The Gs4 battery isn't as good as you might think and the Gpe version is even less efficient.
The N5 battery is smaller, powers a faster SoC and gets longer battery life under equal testing conditions. None of the people I know with S4's can get my 6 hours SoT without even flashing anything, for example.

I had a GS4 with GPE 4.4.2 ROM loaded stock kernel. After rooting and installing a new ROM, my battery life is roughly the same on both phones. I just don't have an SD card anymore.
Thank you, the appeal I guess is that the battery is removable so I could use an extended battery or just swap them out on the fly

Are you saying gs4 ran better with touchwiz or that it's not as efficient as the nexus 5?
I don't mind touchwiz on the note but on the "S" series it's just bloat and a bunch of crap apps and features I don't use
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I had an S4 for six months and I ran GPE for most of that time. SOT is better on the N5 due to the fact that the amoled sucks up a lot of juice. With the same usage and apps I could squeeze about 5:15 on the s4 and 615 on the n5. Off screen battery was the same.
I was happy with both phones.

When I ran my S4 with a GPE ROM it was quick, just not as quick as the Nexus 5. The S4 just seemed to lag more than the N5 does. The GPE is smoother than a regular S4 but by not that much. I ended up giving my S4 to my wife so I can get the N5. The N5 just feels quicker and smoother. I feel it has to be the graphics card.

The N5 is faster and smoother than any other Android device I've ever used, and I've used a lot of them. As a former S4 user, the N5 blows it out of the water (even running the GPE rom on the S4).

Best camera phone under $200?

I'm looking for a good camera phone for outdoor use, low light capabilities and overall phone specs are irrelevant.
What have been suggested so far:
Samsung Galaxy S2
HTC Titan 2
Samsung ATIV S
Nokia Lumia 920

Almost Any HTC phone under 200 $. They have great camera's.
Might want to do a little more research. But I can tell you this.. if you want a good camra on your phone make sure it has 2 LED flashes other wise its Garbage.. mega pixels aren't the only thing you need to look for.
You should go for Sony or HTC phones
