Slight WLAN issues (control channel13 not found) - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
I just bought my Nexus 5 and had slight trouble.
It turns out that the Nexus 5 doesn't recognise channel 13 (and 12 apparently) while all my other devices (including my Galaxy nexus) do.
It works well on any other channels though.
Just wanted to let you know!

Nexus 5 + Miracasting / Screencasting

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to play with them miracasting dongles for a project I'm working on.
Just got myself a dongle from ebay, seems to work (producing video). However, upon attaching with Screen Cast (under display options) it works for 10-12 seconds and automatically disconnects without reconnecting.
Happened the same with a different Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7.
All devices were rooted, all have stock on them (4.4.2).
I've read somewhere that this issue might happen as part of a DRM mechanism (at Samsung Galaxy devices). When the Flash Counter is bigger than 0' the exact same smypthom happens.
Although I'm stocked, I did flash my phones (had to, they came with 4.4 and I wanted 4.4.2). CWM etc.
Anyone seen this issue? overcame it? couldn't find a lot of details about this in Nexus devices ..

[Q] Oddball bluetooth issue with multiple phones on one headset

Here's an oddball one that I hope someone can help me figure out, it's been driving me nuts for a while now...
I have a Motorola HX550 bluetooth headset. One of the great features of this headset is that it can connect to 2 phones at once. This is good because I have both a work and a personal phone.
Now here's the odd part, intermittently (and I can't find any pattern for when it does or doesn't do this) When I disconnect a call on my work phone, my personal phone launches the music player and starts playing music through the headset.
Work phone is an iphone 4 (Model A1332) and is stock.
Personal phone was a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but has recently been updated to a Note 4 (Model SM-N910W8) Same issue on both devices (different music player though) My personal phones are rooted, but the issue has spanned multiple ROMs on 2 different devices (possibly three, I've been putting up with it for a while, but I can't remember if my old Note 2 also did this or not, I know both the Note 3 and Note 4 do)
I like that the music can play through the headset, I just don't want it to do so without my asking!
Ideas? (or even an idea as to where to start, or what section it would be better to ask this in?)

Bluetooth trouble

Anyone else having trouble getting the phone to play nice with their car's built in Bluetooth?
I have a 2012 Chevy Equinox and my Phab 2 Pro refuses to maintain a bluetooth connection with it. It pairs without issue, but then disconnects 2 seconds later.
I have no issues when using the Phab 2 Pro with a bluetooth headset (although my headset supports A2DP and my car does not, so that may be a factor).
Sorry for no help with your issue, but my Bluetooth experience has been Flawless. I have a Ford F150. Also works great with my headsets. Even seems to have better signal strength than my Nexus 6.
Haven't received my phone yet, but my Toyota RAV4 is a major pain when it comes to Bluetooth (current phone LG G3). My Pebble watch is also sensitive. I use both regularly so if there's a problem I'll know soon enough. I'll try to report back once I get the phone and try it out.
Ford SYNC has occasional issues (i have a very early version of SYNC), but it connects automatically 95% of the time.
Got my P2P today. Used it to listen to a podcast for about 30 minutes in the RAV4, and hooked up my Pebble later. So far it has been completely painless. No Bluetooth drops at all. Will update if that changes.
Edit: still working great, haven't had a single drop or crash.

Hi, Did you get this problem solved? We just bought a Phab 2 pro and it has the same trouble as you described with a 2011 Chevy Equinox .

No, I did not. I wound up returning my Phab2 for a refund. I got an Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra instead, and am much happier with it.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I am also leading toward to returning it. I can connect this Phab 2 pro to any other bluetooth devices except for this most expensive one: Chevy Equinox. By searching the internet, I got the impression that GM's cars around 2010 have a lot bluetooth problems especially with newer phones.
I am also interested in this Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra. I will be grateful if you can let me know which carrier you are using and whether Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra can use the LTE/4G service from that carrier.

Sorry for the late response. You have likely already sorted out the answer for yourself, but I am posting anyway in case anyone else has the same question.
I am using the Zenfone 3 Ultra with T-Mobile here in the USA. Unfortunately, it does not work with LTE/4G at all - however, the speeds with 3G on it are faster than I ever got from the Phab 2 Pro (which did get 4g according to the icon on the notification bar). That having been said, I can no longer recommend the Zenfone 3 Ultra to T-Mobile customers as they are starting to decommission their 3G network in many areas of the country. If you have some other carrier, then I definitely recommend checking if the Zenfone 3 Ultra supports their bands - it is an amazing phone and definitely worth getting if it will work with your carrier.

galaxy s7 ( europe / exynos ) bluetooth range weak or problem ?

hi,
i'm new to this forum but i follow it since a while, today i have an issue and a lot of questions so i registered, thanks by advance for reading.
i think i'm having an issue with my new galaxy s7 exynos with bluetooth, i got it new with android mm and noticed that the bluetooth range was really poor on my philips fidelio P8 bt speaker ( A2DP )
my experiment :
my old phone was a galaxy s4 advance and my friends have galaxy s5 and s6 so i tried them all on the same speaker, s4 advance / s5 / s6 can go up to 8m without obstacle, a cement wall doesn't stop the signal at under 5 meters but a human body does ( even at 1m from the source a human body can block the signal on all of them )
now the galaxy s7 seems to have a weaker range, it struggles at 5m sound fade out and/or start to skip sometimes at 3 or 4 meters from the source, a wall totally block the signal, if i hold the phone in both hands it even cuts at 1m depending how i hold it... is it normal ?
( both my s4 and s7 have uag armor case ) my s4 have a far better range and doesn't cut when i hold it with both hands.
then i tried to update to nougat 7.0, tried again and the result is the same, i tried to uninstall all my apps to see if a third party app could cause that, wiped cache, same result.
my girlfriend bought the s7 edge exynos ( android 6.0 ) in the mean time so i tried with her phone my speaker again same configuration, i can go almost to 9m from speaker without issue ( with samsung flip case )
what the ..? the s7 edge has the same processor so it doesn't make any sense, i tried without the uag case on my s7 and still having sound cut barely reach 5m...
how come ?
I then tried on my sony MDR1-A BT headphone, the range works flawlessly this time ( almost 10m on both s4 and s7 )
is it possible that my philips bt speaker use a non optimize bt protocol with s7 ? ( no aptx on s7 exynos from what i have read, s4 advance have aptx )
does the lack of aptx lost in quality or the s7 bt is better ? i don't know if it's a placebo effect but the s4 bt sounds better on both speaker and headphone. if wired both sounds great on my headset.
is it possible to reset my bt settings ? ( maybe the speaker first connection used a weak protocol for some reason and is stuck to it ? is it even possible ? )
all my experiments have been done with and without wifi in the same room.
anyone notice the same behavior with other bt speakers with their s7 ? i read on some forums that some people have sound fading and cut even with the phone in their pocket :x
should i send it to repair or wait for nougat 7.1 ?
everything else on the phone seems to work great and smooth, i must admit i don't feel that much of a boost from the s4 advance ( snapdragon 800 ) on every day use.
so the S7 weakness is the bluetooth ? just when i was starting to enjoy the bt with my sony headset, it's convenient sometimes...
sorry for the long post, thanks by advance for reading and answering me,
yelgo
I dont have any problems with the bluetooth Connection.
I have tried 3 devices:
Jabra 510 Speaker with Bluetooth (BL 3.0) -> Music streaming
Sony MBR-XB950BT Headphone (BL ?) -> Music streaming
A Windows 10 Desktop PC with Bluetooth (BL 4.2) -> File transfer (25MB) from Galaxy S7 to PC
The Test for Music streaming worked without problems by a distance of 15 to 20 Meters
The test for file transfer worked with max distance of 15 Meters without disconnect
Modell: SM-G930F with Android 7.0

thanks for your informations, since my sony headset seems to work well with it, i will wait to be able to try on more bt devices.
still not solve...
i still struggle to find a solution, now i tried with a bose speaker from a friend, my girlfriend S7 edge is working as intended, my S7 lost signal from the speaker if i hold it in my hands 2m from the speaker ( wifi off )
this is terrible... i also now realize that the wifi signal is weaker than my S4 and connection speed is slower than it should, i'm connected on a fiber 1gbit wifi and speedtest on my S7 is maximum 52 mbits ( it says strong signal 144mbs in wifi settings )
should i send my phone to repair ? i found a lot of people in my case on google and some of them send it back for a repair, it solved the issue but for some of them the problem came back a month later and had to send it again or deal with it...
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...msung-note-5-coming-samsung-galaxy-5-a-3.html
i bought the S5 at release, it was slower than my S4, no sd card, couldn't copy what i want from sd card, sold it, bought the S6 at the release, everything was slower than my S4 advance again and the phone more fragile, offer it to my mom, now S7 after a month i still use my S4 advance and thinking of selling it because of the bluetooth issue.
i don't understand also why they remove the button to cast video from the stock player ( that disappear from the phone and has to be download from the store, what a let down... ) now it takes 4 times more clic on the screen to do the same and you must cast the whole screen, stupid... no aptx for bluetooth, poor range and quality through bluetooth compare to S4.
how can i fix this ? a factory reset would work ? i have so many things copy with smart switch from my old phone it would take litteraly days to restore all my files / settings etc ... i have more than 90 gb of data and apps..
please tell me all those issues are coming from android and it will be solve :x
Am i the only one who is totally disappointed ?
This is strange. I get good range with my S7 & MDR-XB70BT. I can pretty much walk around a 2 story house just with a couple of black spots.
In contrast I have a Homespot Bluetooth transmitter plugged into my TV & that signal even has black spots if you're in the same room with the transmitter.

I too have had no issues.wth tablets, ..BT2t 00 earphones work more than 10 m
However,.after last week's Windows 10 update BT in that device won't connect to S7 where it did before.

General Bluetooth hijack by Galaxy Watch 4....

If your smartphone that is paired to Galaxy Watch 4 fails to see Bluetooth devices (those that haven't been paired before) like earphones, speakers, etc., then the culprit is most likely the Galaxy Watch 4.
If this happens, then power OFF your Galaxy Watch 4 and then scan for Bluetooth devices on your phone. They will now magically appear!
Once a device is paired, there won't be any pairing issues later that is caused by the Galaxy Watch 4.
Here is a link for other issues with the Galaxy Watch 4:

The issue you described seem to be quite severe although I don't remember it happening to me luckily. What is your phone Bluetooth version and other specs? I'm pretty sure it's the phone bug or hardware incompatibility of some sort as I doubt a tiny GW4 could jam all of the BT signals around.

It doesn't really jam the signals, just that some of the Bluetooth devices don't show up (while some do) if they haven't been paired before. But if a device is already paired, then there is no issue at all in connecting to it.
I don't know what the issue is, but it is unlikely to be a hardware problem. I have seen this problem on both OneUI 4.x as well as OneUI 5.x. My phone is Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Samsung has a framework with additional features for its phones. Maybe this issue was supposed to be a "feature"? There is an option for remote connection for galaxies, maybe try playing with it and see if it helps.

It is possible that there is a bug with SmartThings Framework (and related apps and services like Galaxy Watch Manager) that is responsible, although I can't say that for sure.
