[Q] Buy Transformer in store?

Does any one have an idea when we can psychically buy a transformer in a store?

I have loose reports that Best Buy is getting a "full tablet assortment" in May. (By loose reports I mean hearsay from a Best Buy Mobile manager.) My best guess would be next week or the one after.

I know. I'm stuck in that boat too, need to get it from Best Buy to use my no interest card... but I can wait. probably.

I actually got my Transformer yesterday from a physical store in CA -- Frys Electronics.

I got mine from a B&M Frys store yesterday too, but I don't think it's gonna help since as far as I know the stores that had them only have *ONE* each.
I was there at 8:20 and when I was at the counter getting the papers printed, someone else was asking for it.

Surprisingly I picked up mine today at the Tempe, AZ Fry's store. Just saw it online around noon and ordered it for an in-store pickup.
Then I was nervous for the next few hours I had to stay at work hoping it wasn't a mistake or they wouldn't accidentally give it to someone else. But I got to Fry's and held my breath at the counter and it felt like it took her forever to retrieve it, but she finally came back with it in hand.
I thought for sure I was screwed and might be waiting weeks for this thing to come in stock since I'm not the type of person to spam F5 on NewEgg at 3 oclock in the morning or get in a line at a retail store (like the Apple folks do). Think I just got really lucky this time I guess. It was the last one at the store.

Oh, only one store in Indiana. And according to their website they don't have any...

In fact, not one single Frys in the US is showing stock.

Thats what came up roughly a couple hours ago (attachment), I just tried it again and it said 0
I was excited.

I've been to bb today and the guy who couldn't tell me specific details buy he did say they are changing the desktop space for tablets and in may they will definitely have all tablets... I think it's true they are pushing the playbook hard so they probably have to give it a exclusive launch schedule till may... gonna be a hot summer!

I've been trying to get a date out of my two local Best Buy shops and the best I have been able to get is a single sales girl who said they got an email yesterday morning that said BBY would not receive them until mid May. That's these two stores at least.
I'm still going to bug the crap out of them though until I get one because without a date in their system it can still arrive tomorrow.

T-mobile still selling g2x

ok for ****s and giggles i logged into my tmobile account online looked through devices still and what do you know the g2x is still there and it lets me add it to cart and buy one but for some reason it still says i have the vibrant instead of my g2x and when i click (this is not my device) and i look through the devices the g2x doesn't show up. just sharing this info with you guys get what you want from it and the only option i am allowed is to pay full price of 399 just saying take a look for your own selves
edit: without logging into my account it now says temporarily out of stock... this just doesn't make sense why would you be able to buy it when you log into your account but not be able to buy it if youre not logged in?

Hmm...I was told on this forum they are being recalled.

yeah i know i read that thread thats why i posted this cause i looked not even 30 minutes ago it was still on the website it didnt say out of stock and it was letting me buy it...

Yeah, I had the conversation with a rep last nite about the same thing. He first tells me it's a refurb, but then I told him that it has the "new" icon on it. I then asked if they were only available for upgrades at this time & not new customers, he said they may have kept some on hand for upgraders. So I asked him if I complete this transaction, would I get a "new" phone or a refurb, even though it says it's new, he told me not to complete the transaction, lol. After I told I work for LG, he says they don't have any in stock at all, what an idiot...

Sounds like what happened is it keep the dbsetting that allows it but removed the setting xml for it so it doesn't show up.

What would ruin your warranty? A non-visible "unknown sources" that ATT actually allows now anyway?
Or s-Off @ hboot?
Or superuser?
Or a non-stock ROM?

I had to go get a new SIM card today and could just see the wheels spinning in the sales gal's head when she was in the settings of my phone , along with a couple of comments about how "bling'd out" it was...like she thinking "how'd you do that? what did this man do to his phone?"...

Yeah I thought about that...if I happened to get a sales rep that yells out, "You're rooted!"...but I needed that SIM card and really didn't want the hassle of popping the Hack Kit and going back to stock just for a SIM card...it was kind of fun .

No doubt. That would've been a major PITA.
My phone looks so stock that I doubt they'd notice. Still, I'd be a bit jumpy while in the ATT store waiting for the SIM. But you managed it, so....
Luckily I got my SIM replacement needs taken care of when I was still stock/unrooted. I doubt I'll ever need another one....

One thing I do have legacy is "Enterprise Customer" next to my name whenever I show up....this was years ago but always falling all over me to make me happy..11 years with ATT>Cingualr>ATT again....I was a little thinking about it but not too seriously...just walk in like I own the place ...Manager even came over and introduced himself...I guess I have paid them A LOT OF MONEY over the years with International plans and what not...pne reason I stick with them...I get response...and if I wanna root my phone...so be it
Edit: EC comes from my days working TD as a low level muckity-muck for the biggest semiconductor manufacturer, IN THE WORLLLLLD....but I work for a Mid-Cap now n not nearly the pull...they know it,,,but once get that Gold Star, I guess it sticks...

It's been an awkward week for the S4. Most people are satisfied but the locked bootloader seems to have twisted some people. I would still go to the store early just in-case cause once the bootloader is unlocked, expect this phone to really begin selling

I just called my local store. They still have them in stock. It is now 11:34.

went to my local store in kalamazoo michigan. i got there at 8:45 thinking there would be a line. there was noone. and by the time i left only 2 other people came in and it seemed like they didnt get a gs4. the hype atleast in my town doesnt seem like much for the gs4 like it was the gs3.

No lines downtown Chicago. Got mine at ten and I was the only one there.

No lines at my store..I was the second person in and the first and only one (while I was there) to grab a S4. 3-4 people came in to pay their bills and one person came in because her Note 2 screen would not come on and/or function properly.

Did any of yalls stores have any information about the 32gb version?

Yea a lot of people are probably holding off until the bootloader is unlocked but 6 people right out of the gate is not bad, your area will probably be out by tomorrow

Im at Costco right now. System wide ATT activation outage in red bold font on their screens. They called ATT sales, but they said they cant do activations over the phone either. I already paid for the phone, but its sitting at the wireless booth until ATT goes live again. Costcos food court pizza use to be better btw

I got mine on Westnedge yesterday. millions will be sold... but the hype will never reach iphone levels... not that it doesnt deserve it. But Apple just handles its releases better, with all the weird delays and changes in carrier releases, the west main store said they didnt have it and that westnedge shouldnt have sold it to me yesterday.

closest store to where I live is just an authorized retailer. they only had 4 in stock and opened at 10am. pulled up at 940, there were 3 ppl outside waiting for the 4. luckiest day ever, I would've had to drive 40mins to get one otherwise. like 10-12ppl showed up while I was getting my purchase all done, asking if they had any in stock. poor guy in front of me though, had to pay cash cuz he had to pay a deposit.... transaction almost done, and then the girl behind the counter says that she can't hold it for him while he runs to the ATM. I felt bad, if I'd had ANY cash on me, I would've given it to him so he could get it, but I didn't.

I doubt most people even know or care about the bootloader.
You have to remember, we are the 1% who keep track of this stuff. Most people change the wallpaper and maybe add a few widgets..

You're probably right but I mean heck I come across a quite a few people who ask me about rooting whenever they see my phones so there's definitely interest. Again though you're right, most of them had no idea how to root lol

I think it's a lack of advertising before launch, I didn't see commercials for this phone like I saw for S3 last year. In fact I saw no commercials for the S4 lol

[Q] Does T-Mobile know you're rooted?

So I have been on T-Mobile for a few weeks now. I downloaded the "T-Mobile My Account" app to manage my account, pay bills, etc. I got a notification today from the app telling me some test results and one of them was saying I was rooted. So is this info sent to T-Mobile and they know that I am rooted or are these test just done locally for my own info? And does T-mobile even care if we root our phones? I'm not really worried, I'm just curious about it. Screenshots attached below.

They can because of this app, but they won't do anything about it. You can still get a replacement device and use JUMP and all that.

Yeah, I didnt know how strict they were. You hear things about rooting voiding your warranty and all. Like I said, I'm new to T-Mobile. But I dont see myself needing a replacement or anything anytime soon. I've never broken a phone before.

Yeah the people at the store near me actually encourage people to root their device if they can and get rid of all the bloat. Most carriers don't even look at the phone when it comes in. They just wipe the entire thing anyway.

The T-Mobile store by my house was saying he roots his, was boasting that the Nexus 4(just came out at the time) he could tether all he wants with no T-Mobile restrictions. He pushed my Mom to buy Nexus 4(which wasn't that hard she had a Nexus S) so yeah it certainly happens. If your a phone tech nerd why not apply for T-Mobile, Sprint, At&t etc)

T-Mobile really doesn't care. You can talk about rooting and jailbreak in front of them and they'll tag along with you about it.
