My question is this:
I can? Place a cooked ROM with android 4.2.2 and Sense 5?, Having HBOOT 1.14? eye now I'm on android 4.0.4 manufactures, I have the SuperCID, Unlocked bootloader, root the phone and installed the TWRP Recovery
Or did I have to apply a RUU (3.18.502.6) to be on HBOOT 2.14??? and so to upgrade to android 4.2.2???
If I apply the RUU'll have to repeat the process bara release the bootloader, root and install the Recovery?
Thanks mates!
excuse my bad English
You can go ahead and install a custom Sense 5 Android 4.2.2 with your current setup. You'll need to install the Beastmode kernel though or you'll suffer signal loss and reboots. The other option is to upgrade to the 2.15 firmware package.

ok I understand correctly, if it does not work for my rom Kernel 4.2.2 Beastmode more, as I get to the 2.15 firmware upgrade package?
Very Grateful for your previous answer : Bueno:
Install the ROM and the Beastmode kernel together and you'll be fine.

When you flash a ROM (with S-off) both the ROM and kernel are replaced, so it doesn't actually matter what ROM and kernel you are coming from.
Sense 5 custom ROMs will install fine on any hboot. But some folks will get signal drops and random reboots. Solution is to either flash Beastmode kernel or flash the 2.15 firmware.

hi
i have a sensation xe.
i s off"d it with revolutionary tool before ics update.
now i am thinking of flashing ordroid 9.0.0
i just want to ask whether it is okay to proceed with flashing a custom recovery and then the rom or are there any extra steps i must take??
S off is security off if you do not s off you will have to flash rooms differently and you will not have as much freedom. Its best to s off in my onion if possible. Do search read guide about how to s off. I am rooted and s off and it makes flashing really easy in my opnion.
So go ahead and s off. Before you flash rom make sure and have correct firmware for the rom. Ics takes 3.32 firmware. Gingerbread roms take a different firmware. I use mostly ics or 4.0.3 roms so I use 3.32 firmware. This is the one you will need also for the ics rom. You can find the firmware in Android development. So s off get your firmware then you should be able to flash your rom. Best of luck and hope this helps

well, if you're already S-OFF and all is good, go ahead and flash a custom recovery of course, either CWM or 4EXT...then as realsis mentioned, you'll need a 3.32 firmware for ICS. if you're already SuperCID, go to the relative thread and download the first one you find. follow the flashing instructions and all will be good.
also, you will need to super wipe before flashing a new sense 4 ROM.
that said, please backup your original ROM before flashing a custom ROM.

Hi,
Since you are s-off via Revolutionary, you should be fine to flash custom recovery and custom ROM.
Does it still say "Revolutionary" in your hboot ,after your OTA update?
Don't forget your firmware! Very important OK. 3.32 for ICS roms. Best wishes happy flashing!

My question is, how to I upgrade my phone to jelly bean? I wanna know also if should I upgrade my HBOOT? I'm kinda in a dilemma here because I honestly don't know what to do, Last time I flashed was last year and now I feel totally new again, especially because of this new HBoot upgrade thing. thank you and hope you can help me.
No update needed for jelly bean. CM 10 is a jelly bean based ROM (4.1) that will work for you.
You will need to upgrade your hboot if you plan on using any 3.4 kernels (most 4.2 jelly bean ROMs).

I have a big problem and can't fixed it
Now I'm on Hboot 2.15 and S-ON and CID:Roger001
I want to S-off or supercid but I'm follow all methods included All in one kits
Supercid after corrected in hex editor and push to sdcard had same cid.
CID ROGER001 and not change to 11111111
So I'm choose S-off without supercid, but its error 99 codes
and no s-off
I want to go back low hboot but now I can't install stock RUU cause ROGER RUU.exe had lower hboot than 2.15
after execute stock RUU it has error
Oh...no.. What should I do?
Anyone help me?,please
I think SuperCID is impossible with 2.15. At least it didn't work for me.
Don't know about s-off.

To do SuperCID you have to, not just push it back, but also replace a partition by dd command with root privileges. I was on 2.15 and I changed SuperCID then I've just choose RUU that was suggested by Moonshine. Moonshine didn't work but Facepalm eventually did.
So I'm very green to Rooting. 3 days into ROM world.
I purchased a used ATT HTC One X. It came rooted with Viper XL 4.0.0 installed. That ROM works fine, however, I would like to update/change it to another ROM. I installed ROM Manager and made a full backup of my current install. I tried using TWRP 2.6.0.0 to flash a new ROM. I did the Wipe and then tried to flash a new ROM. However, when the ROM install is happening (for any ROM tried) I get an error that says... unable to mount /system.
I am able to restore to the ViperXL install with no problem. That is my current backup.
Tried cm-10.2.0-evita.zip downloaded from cyanogenmod’s download site
Tried Dev-3.22.1540.1-Stock-Rooted-DE-ODEX.zip downloaded from stockroms.net
I tried this stock ROM because I thought it might be easier to load a new ROM on top of that. I also tried using the CyanogenMod Installer but it failed to recognize the device.

Have you tried using the mount feature in TWRP to mount the system partition? Not sure if it's gonna work but it's worth a try. If that doesn't work I'd suggest running the 3.18 RUU. Then flash TWRP again and see if you can install ROMs ok.

Mount feature in TWRP didn't work. I ran the 3.18 RU and now I'm back on Android 4.1.1 with build 3.18. However, now I'm not rooted anymore. I assume I need to root the phone now? Would appreciate any suggestions on the easiest way to do so.
All you need to do now is flash TWRP again, and then you can flash Superuser or SuperSU to root the stock ROM, or flash a custom ROM.

That is not a ROM for our device. Its for the HTC One (M7), not your One X/XL (EVITA).
You're lucky you didn't brick the phone, flashing a file for another device while you are s-off (device checks are "off" with s-off). Do yourself a big favor, and only flash things that are on XDA in this forum section, or in my Index thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-x-att
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Good catch, I didn't notice that.

I've been on CM 10 for a few days now. Everything seems to be running fine with one exception. I notice that my wireless connection drops occasionally. What is used to determine if I have a firmware mismatch?
A firmware mismatch doesn't usually affect aosp ROMs, but you could try flashing another radio. You're currently using a radio that was released with the 5.0x Sense 5 ROMs, I'd suggest trying out one of the 3.17/3.18 radios.
It could be an issue with the ROM itself, cm10 is pretty old. There are a few 4.4 ROMs available at the moment that I've run with zero stability issues so maybe you could try one of those. Overall I believe they're better than 4.1 ROMs like cm10.

Part of the install instructions for MaximusHD is updating your hboot version from 2.15 to 2.16. So yes, 2.15 is correct for now. When you go to download the ROM there are 2 files, the ROM and the installer package. The installer package contains the firmware (this is what updates the hboot to 2.16) and the recovery. This is why the instructions are a little complicated. Basically you have to flash the rom first, then flash the firmware, then flash the recovery, then flash the ROM again. Just note, you can not mount storage in TWRP recovery for 2.16. Also, if you are a stock android fan then stay on 2.15 if you want to have a greater choice of ROM's. Currently I think the only AOSP based ROM that supports the 2.16 hboot is CM11.

Hello,
i'm having a lot of trouble with the viper made rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667758). I'm new here, so i cannot post it there.
My problems began when i try to install the updates. I have installed the original rom version 3.0.0. i get the OTA message, but when i try to install it in recovery, the phone can't mount the sd card, and the installation doesn't continu. I tried to do it manually (using the download link i found in one of the posts) and that seemed to work.
Then i got another OTA notification, to upgrade to version 3.1.0, but when i tried to boot after the installation, i couldn't enter my sim pincode, and when i reboot, the phone keeps looping. I have to install the original rom twice (once with and one time without wiping) before the ROM boots normally.
What am i doing wrong?
i'm on Hboot 1.25 and radio:1.15.50.05.29
I'm S-on (RL)
It seems that viper made a fll rom, with the updates included.
Wrong Hboot?

I'm not sure but i think it starts with your Hboot, maybe one of the older members can verify, but according to the rom it requires Hboot version 2.15 or 2.16.
I am in the process of updating my Hboot by downloading and flashing the RUU as well as achieving S-OFF status

Question. Is there a way for me to upgrade the hboot without the ruu wiping everything? Or will I just have to make a backup. I plan to go s-off before upgrading the hboot.

If you're S-OFF ist possible I think
No, you don't need to update the hboot. I am on 1.06 and Viper works fine...in fact any ROM works fine for me but that's another story. The updated firmware (2.13 or 2.15) is required only for Android 4.4.x KitKat due to a check present in the updater-script. There's no such check nor requirement for previous Android versions and Viper 3.x is based on Android 4.2.2
The problems first could come from not being S-Off...this makes impossible to flash the kernel from recovery so any OTA that has a kernel is not flashed properly. I remember that 3.1.0 has also a full ROM ZIP, maybe is good if you flash that one from recovery and flash the kernel after that in fastboot. Also it could matter the recovery you're using, I would recommend latest TWRP

In the viper rom forum post it says ROM firmware required hboot 2.15/2.16.. Am I to j just ignore tha? Or is it that it is only required that hboot (2.15/2.16) if you are s-on and s-off can do whatever you like? Lol
You need hboot 2.16 for Radio 1.20
And to Flash hboot 2.16 you will need S-OFF

Actually I'm on hboot 2.15 with Radio 1.20.XX
I know this doesn't help... just saying..
To contribute smth. To get the most out of the Viper 3 Rom, everyone should upgrade their Radio to 1.20.XX. And this is actually why you need to S-OFF.
