[Q] Nexus 5 compatible in mexico? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I just have a quick question.
I currently have a Samsung S3 (The AT&T one, I unlocked it, which calls and data works just fine), but I have been having some problems with it so Im thinking of upgrading to the Nexus 5 when it is available.
The problem is, I dont know if N5 would work with bands in Mexico (Im currently using Telcel carrier) anybody would tell me?
Also.. if I buy the N5 through google play will it come unlocked right out of the box?

If you buy a Nexus 5 from Google play, it will come unlocked out of the box. Just use the sim card in your current phone, and it should work just fine. I assume the bands would be similar to the ones on your AT&T S3 since the Nexus 5 was leaked to support a wide variety of bands.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus IMEI and AT&T

I figure this is a good place to ask a question like this real quick. I was wondering if the Galaxy Nexus being sold through the Play Store is recognizable by AT&T.
Right now, I am using an Xperia X10 Mini Pro on AT&T with the non-smartphone data plan. If I were to get a Galaxy Nexus through the Play Store, would AT&T be able to identify it via the IMEI number? I would like to buy this phone, be able to slap in the SIM, and then continue on with my life and lovely unlimited data plan. Would this be possible?
I am guessing that because the Play Store Galaxy Nexus is not AT&T branded and has never been specifically sold by them, it would not be picked up in their databases, just like my unbranded Xperia. I am not entirely sure of this though. I'm just curious to see if anyone can help me figure this.

Play Store to sell D821 on launch date?

I was wondering if the play store will sell the D821 version on launch date along with the US market version D820.
My carrier uses LTE band 7, which means D821 is my only option.
It's like when the Nexus S came out. There was an US version with 3G freq, and then there was a Canada version with different 3G freq.
Any of you remember how it went for the Nexus S ?
I bought the canadian version of the NS on ebay to have it work with my carrier.
Thanks.

With the way the Play Store automatically region locks (and with no option to manually change regions), I doubt any Nexus 5 model will be sold outside of its intended market.

Does that mean that you can't use the Nexus 5 outside the USA?
I am in Panama, and I had planned to buy the Nexus 5 and bring it into the country with me. I used the GT-I9505 and I9300 here, so I'd like to know before I waste my money, if this is the case.
I assumed it would be functional on any GSM network.

Oh, the GSM bands are the same on both models, it's just the LTE bands that are region-specific. D820 for the US, D821 for pretty much everywhere else it's sold.

We don't have LTE here. Only HSPA+
That's all I need then, right?

Are you sure about this, I have never heard Google doing this and it would defeats the purpose of a Nexus. I owned every Nexus phone up to the 4 and they all work internationally. The device might not support all the frequencies, but they are fully unlocked and work anywhere.

Did you buy all of them from the play store?
If so, did you buy them on release date?

I could be wrong though, but I bought mine either from online retaii, Nexus S from Newegg and GNex imported from Expansys, and a few 2nd hand versions which included Playstore version. The Nexus 4 was the first PlayStore version I bought, but I haven't bring it on international trips yet. I really don't think Google does this though since its not the point of the Nexus and I couldnt find any info on it online, it is possible some Nexus devices are released by specific carriers and gets region locked that way. However, I do know Google region lock their apps.
I only heard of Samsung doing region lock recently with their Note 3.

I do not mean that the phone is region locked. It is not. The Play Store itself is highly region specific. e.g. If you want to buy the Nexus 4 Charging Orb, that is not available from the UK Play Store. If nyou wanted to order it from the US Play Store, you cannot simply change a dropdown box from 'UK' to 'US', you have to (1) use a US-based proxy server (2) use a US-addressed credit/debit card (3) deliver to a US address.
According to the service manual, the GSM bands supported by both Nexus 5 models (D820, D821) are identical.
The difference is in the LTE band support. The D820 will work on LTE in the US, and D821 will work on LTE for EMEA, and there doesn't appear to be a far-eastern model (or at least, one has not leaked yet). It would be silly for Google to sell the D821 outside of the US, as the LTE bands would not be compatible with local networks (even though regular voice calling would work just fine).

[Q] Nexus 5 ROMs Universal?

Since the Nexus 5 is one phone for every carrier (except Verizon of course) will I have to install a ROM made for Sprint Nexus 5 if I am on Sprint? I figure since I can order one phone from the play store and activate it on whichever network I want that it will be the same for ROMs, I download one Nexus 5 ROM and just install it. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.
They should be universal since the american n5 works on all 3 carriers, perhaps the euro spec n5 might need their own euro rom but since the difference is only related to the modem hardware i think one rom will rule them all since the modem normally isn't flashed with a rom.

[Q] Question about OTA prompt - is this T-Mobile ROM?

I'm on T-Mobile network, but my phone was purchased from the Google store, so not a T-Mobile branded device.
I'm rooted stock 5.0.1 right now, and wondering if this OTA ROM will be the T-Mobile version or just vanilla Google?
I'd actually like the T-Mobile version with the Wi-Fi calling feature - I've always been disappointed that unless I purchase a T-Mobile branded phone (exactly the same device) I can't have this feature. Obviously I need to remove a lot of the T-Mobile boat after the fact.
Appreciate replies.
There is no tmo version of any nexus firmware. And WiFi calling is not available on the n5.

Note 5 n920g to n920t. Indian version to American version.

Hey guys, I bought a titanium silver note 5 and it came from india. I'm using it on tmobile right now and love it, but I don't have access to all the apps on the app store, including samsung pay. I wish to purchase the tmobile version on it, but I can't find the rom. Is there any way of putting the tmobile rom on it or just getting a fix to it. Thanks in advanced.
N920G
Does the LTE on the indian note 5 work? All the bands and frequencies. Is there anything that doesnt work apart from Samsung Pay because I wanted a silver note 5 to use on T Mobile but wasnt sure about the compatibility.
