Root access not granted - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm at a loss here. Chances are it's something simple that i'm missing but I'll ask here while I scan over everything. I'm trying to root my Galaxy Note 10.1 n8013 model and have carefully looked at guides for it.
CF-Auto-Root-p4notewifi-p4notewifiue-gtn8013 being flashed in Odin goes successfully and I see the super user app in my apps drawer after it restarts. I downloaded rootchecker from the market and it returns that I am not rooted and disappeared. I then downloaded the zip to flash in my recovery twrp and it said successful only to have it repeat on rootcheck.
i've done this process about five times now and no luck. It keeps saying google blocks rooted apps. any suggestions?

Not really shure what is going on... but, first of all open super su and make sure it doesn't need a binary update.
Secondly try to use a root app and see what happens, try with titanium backup for instance.
If none of that methods work try zedomax rooting metod - http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...-galaxy-note-10-1-easiest-methodcwmmethod-2/#
Make sure to do a backup before flashing any thing, just in case

Make sure auto-reboot is not checked when using odin. I believe if it is check root is lost on reboot.

If you used dbz easy root just plug your phone in make sure USB debug and charge only mode is on along with wifi being off and really run step three

Idle why it didn't post the first time. If you used dbz easy root make sure wifi is off charge only and USB debug is on then redo step three

That doesn't work at all. Easy root is an epic failure
Root explorer works so why doesn't rom manager?
Dont know what to tell you tons of people have used easy root myself included with zero issues.
I'm going to stop helping soon because of the fact that everyone wants to take the easy way out and refuse to even gain the slightest knowledge about what they are really doing. It is simply a Google search away for any info you need about ADB and the specific commands. But, I'll leave this here. Start at step 7. Enjoy.

I tried the one-click root method on a friends thunderbolt, and for some reason did not get root access til after a reboot. Nothing would work, not even Shoot Me, rebooted, and everything was good.
Did u reboot it?
If u did, there was a problem with su for some, find the thread and fix it

Mine was the same way, and I rooted using ADB. Right after I was done, CWM reported that it couldn't get root access. I restarted the phone and then I had root.

Keep redoing step 7 until it takes took me 3 times
I learned ADB to root this phone and it literally took me 45 mins of reading a wiki and another hour of googling to fill in various information gaps in my initial reading. This is my first android phone. It. is. not. that. complicated.

Updated to 4.3 without realizing on rooted S3 now bricked

I have a Verizon S3 and saw a new symbol in my notification bar and stupidly clicked on it without really thinking and my phone tried to update to 4.3. Well after the update I get a screen that says I'm not using official verizon software or something like that and that I need to take my phone to a verizon store to fix it. I can get to the Odin downloading screen I just don't know how to fix it from there. Please help I really don't have the money to buy a new phone right now. Any advice would be welcome
It depends on what is happening to your phone. Is it working or not? Can you tell us what android version is loaded currently?

It starts up and after the samsung logo. I get the message System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help. At the top in red it also says secure fail: kernal. I believe I'm running Android 4.1.2 but I can't remember. If I hold down volume, home, and power I can get into the odin downloading screen but those are the only 2 screens I can access.

As long as you can get to the download screen, you can flash the official 4.3 with Odin. Dont try to go back to 4.1.2 or any custom rom as that will result in a hard brick.

First go into download mode and see if the boot chain flashed. If it didn't you should flash 4.1 not 4.3.
Once you're in download mode, post all the information it says in the top left corner.

Then use this to root your phone again:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332825
After this, I'd unlock the bootloader with ez-unlock version 1.2 to make sure it's unlocked.
When you reboot, find sdm1.0.apk and fwupdater.apk and rename them to sdm1.0.apk.bak and fwupdater.apk.bak. Or use titanium backup and freeze both of them. Then you don't have to worry about an update being pushed to your phone.

Ez-unlock will brick your phone if you're on the 4.3 base. In this case it will work just fine, he's on the 4.1.2 base.

locked bootloader on rooted verizon galaxy s3
my phone was rooted and i mistakenly upgraded to 4.3.
i didn't have any problems rerooting my phone.
however though the phone is rooted, from what i've read i'm going to assume my bootloader is locked.
so i've decided to seek answers from the professionals.
i have root checker, rom manager, goomanager, titanium back up, root broswer, rom installer, root explorer, android root tool, superuser, super su, quickboot, terminal emulator and the hackers keyboard.
all to no avail...everytime i try to install a custom rom a message pops up on the screen saying i have unauthorized software on my phone and that i need to take it to verizon. yes from recovery mode...as a matter of fact the recovery mode won't load it just takes me to the " take my phone to verizon screen "...
just to be clear i have a galaxy s3 on verizon running 4.3
phone is rooted and super su, or superuser has been granted to the necessary apps,
still everything i've tried hasn't worked.
sorry for the length but i was attempting to provide as much info as possible...
any and all help regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated...

Sounds like you're on 4.3, if that's the case then you can't install any custom roms without a special recovery.
Just to be sure, boot into download mode and type out what the text says in the top left corner. Your symptoms sound like it could be either, the install of will usually fail if you're rooted, unless everything you had was completely stock.

You're on 4.3 with a locked bootloader, meaning you can't install custom recovery, rom, kernel. The only thing available for 4.3 is root. Don't try to install custom recovery or you will brick your phone. At this time you may have a soft brick, go here to fix it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319

Physically type down in a reply to @BadUsername, exactly what is written when you are fully booted into download mode. Everything in the upper left of the screen where it starts with "Odin Mode" in red all caps. Someone is helping you and they can't continue to help you, unless you help them first with that info.

Here is my list:
If the OTA already downloaded, delete it here /cache/fota
To disable the OTA:
Rename or freeze the apps with Titanium backup:
otacerts.zip located in /etc/security - rename to otacerts.zip.bak
Rename fwupdate.odex, fwupdate.apk located in /system/app
and freeze SDM1.0 located in /system/app
Awesome thank you. And without TiBu? My wife uses the GS3, and I don't think she has a license for TiBu.
I guess just rename the first two with a file manager, delete the update and disable sdm1 in the app settings?

To answer your question anyway, install supersu from market run it, press menu go to settings and clean up & unroot.
Or you could keep root, and install an app that hides root for specific apps. I think it is called root cloak or something.

[Q] Need help with towelroot

I used towelroot on my galaxy s5, but I think I need to have cwm or twrp installed as well and I don't know how, I'm new at this. First time rooting a phone and I really need some help with this. I want to install custom roms. All I've done so far is get root access and downloaded apps like titanium and super user, but I honestly don't know what they are for. Any advice is much appreciated.
Ok first off have you checked to see if you have full root access by using a root checking app? if not try this one to check : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck . If you have full root access and you want to go straight ahead to flashing a recovery then download an app called Rom manager to flash CWM on your device (Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager ) then you choose the flash CWM and choose your phone modle. then it downloads and installs. after it tells you its installed then reboot in recovery either using the "reboot" button in the app or using the default button sequence. this is just to confirm CWM has installed properly. To use CWM you use your power button to confirm action or choose action, and volume keys to move around. once you confirmed CWM has been installed choose the "reboot" option

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have confirmed that it's rooted, and I tried the method you described to install cwm, but when it reboots it says error, invalid signature, or something like that. And then I just have to reboot like normal? Do you know what can be causing this problem?
Did you make sure you confirmed your phone model and let it install? like so?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, I chose galaxy s5, it downloads, then I hit reboot, and it doesn't work.
First off have you granted superuser permissions to the app? thats probably the issue.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You might be right, how do I do this. Also the super user I downloaded asks me if I want to disable Knox, should I do this?
When you used towelroot wasnt superuser already installed as a part of the root procces?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No it wasn't
Hmm ok then hmm, dont disable knox and continue with the superuser app, try to post screenshots also, they help figure it out

Please help, my phone randomly bricked!!!!

Ok, this sounds a bit unbelievable, even to me but here goes.....
Got my s6 sm-g920v Verizon and I rooted it with ping-pong root. Everything was going great, fully rooted, until I tried to run an app that needs root. I don't remember exactly what app it was but it wasn't anything huge like tibu because I was still running king root su instead of super su.
When I ran the app, it behaved like it WASN'T rooted, so I ran root checker and it said I DON'T have root. I decided to reboot the phone before I jump into anything yet but when it finished showing me the Samsung splash screen.....the phone screen went completely black!!!
Now the only thing I can do with the phone is boot into recovery or boot into the bootloader. But no matter what, it won't boot into the OS, even if I do a factory reset in recovery
I downloaded the t-mobile firmware and tried to flash it to the phone with Odin 3.10.6 (because even though it's a Verizon s6, I'm actually using it on t-mobile) but that flash just fails. I can't seem to find the Verizon firmware anywhere online so I can't flash that firmware in Odin!
Can anybody please help me with this problem?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok, for anyone that had this problem i managed to figure out out myself.
I found the original Verizon firmware on the Verizon galaxy s6 forums here on xda.
I was able to successfully flash this file using Odin 3.10.6 and the phone booted up just fine when it was done.
