Rom manager says you must root your phone for rom manager to function superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su or"/system/xbin/su". Use google search tofind rooting instructions.
Since I have root s-off

If you used dbz easy root just plug your phone in make sure USB debug and charge only mode is on along with wifi being off and really run step three

That doesn't work at all. Easy root is an epic failure

Root explorer works so why doesn't rom manager?

Dont know what to tell you tons of people have used easy root myself included with zero issues.

I'm going to stop helping soon because of the fact that everyone wants to take the easy way out and refuse to even gain the slightest knowledge about what they are really doing. It is simply a Google search away for any info you need about ADB and the specific commands. But, I'll leave this here. Start at step 7. Enjoy.

I tried the one-click root method on a friends thunderbolt, and for some reason did not get root access til after a reboot. Nothing would work, not even Shoot Me, rebooted, and everything was good.

Did u reboot it?
If u did, there was a problem with su for some, find the thread and fix it

Mine was the same way, and I rooted using ADB. Right after I was done, CWM reported that it couldn't get root access. I restarted the phone and then I had root.

Keep redoing step 7 until it takes took me 3 times

I learned ADB to root this phone and it literally took me 45 mins of reading a wiki and another hour of googling to fill in various information gaps in my initial reading. This is my first android phone. It. is. not. that. complicated.

How to root Samsung Galaxy 4g

Pretty simple root method.
1. Download SuperOneClick found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
2. Once installed click rage option then Root.
The rage option is if you look on the right of SuperOneClick you will see Exploit and there you will see rageagainstthecage option there. This could be just an SuperOneClick 1.7 option. If you don't see it either upgrade or using just the root button should work.
If it is frozen at waiting for device you will need to install the samsung drivers found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
If all goes well you should be rooted. Pretty simple wasn't?
At this time ClockworkMod nor RecoveryManager work so please don't ask about them. When they get updated we will post it.

true, however that thread doesn't have the links needed to do the root in the OP, so actually this thread is better for those looking to root without the need to go searching throughout the thread.
also when i rooted my device there wasn't a "rage" option for me to choose. i just clicked on root and everything went fine.
They can delete my thread if they want, it's not that big of a deal.
INCORRECT!!!
I did not have to use rage against the cage, i just did default exploit in superoneclick and everything went perfectly!

I also don't know what this Rage option is. I did shell root for temp root and then perm root via the root button on SuperOneClick 1.6.5

Open super one click, make sure your phone is in debugging. Connect it to the computer. Select rageagainstthecage and click unroot.
It will unroot the phone.

I get an error message saying that it can't find the file specified. This is my first time rooting a phone and i have no idea what i am doing. I looked at the other thread and tried using the rage thing. Nothing is working.
I connected my phone via usb. Put it in mass storage, as opposed to Media Player or the Kies option.
Not sure where to even begin.
Dont put mass storage. Just leave it charging while having usb debugging.
Just tried that. Saying the same thing. I turn on debugging, connect the device via USB, open SuperOneClick, hit root, and it bring up the same thing.
Saying the system cannot find the file specified.
I just got the phone today and haven't done anything else to it, or added any apps to it or anything. Is there something i need to put on the phone or no?
all right thanks man ill try it out see if it works

So i was on the 'new way to root' and i went to download the so called one click root..but i couldn't even finish downloading the file halfway before my anti-virus quarantine warning popped up saying "Android/Exploit.RageCage.A Trojan..anyone else get this while trying to download the file? my firefox's WOT rating thing said its a poor site and not to trust it...i've rooted my HTC HD2 but a buddy of mine has the MT4G and i thought i could just do a one click type for his..but i guess i might have to do it the old fashioned step by step DIY..

There are NO one click root options for the MyTouchHD. You must do it one of the ways posted in the development section. I believe Option94 on here once went to try it [create a one click root process] and and it wouldn't work correctly.
Thanks...thats what i thought..well his method was "semi-automated" you still had to run commands via terminal, but the fact my anti-virus came up with a trojan alert is what worried me, but i'll just root his MT4G the step by step way!

No problem this phone is a breeze to root. i've personally tried every method out there and had success every time.
There is a one click root method.. Via visionary from modaco.. All you have to do is turn s-off manually.
Happy rooting
Antivirus software will occasionally flag root packages as virii because, well, they ARE exploits. Frankly, as long as you're getting it from here or another reputable site, I wouldn't worry about it.

VISIONary is not a true rooting tool. Root your phone with it then turn your phone off. See what happens.
VISIONary will give you temp root so you can permaroot it.
to the N'th degree you are correct, in the real world not so much.
Visionary has a permaroot option.... never used it, I temp root then use root.sh... takes like 2 seconds...

Rooting allows you to have permanent SU access to the ~/system files. VISIONary nor the Permaroot button allow you to do this. Permaroot your phone, try to flash anything to the /system file bank. It will not stick. It's simply just a "rooting" tool to help you gain permanent access to those file via turning the security protocol off. as soon as you turn off the phone everything goes back to normal.

[Q] Stuck on Running exploit

i was able to s off mine using alpharevx but when i try to run gingerbreak i was stuck on running exploit for about 30 mins.. any tips on how am i be able to achieve root?
If it said something along the lines of it 'wasn't sure it worked' it should be ok and did work .Mine done that but phone was still rooted
Gosh... Just my luck... have managed to s-off, now stuck on gingerbreak as op.
had the same, but you can flash SU from the recovery now, so why bother with ginger break?
Same here, but when I formated the SD card and run the process again my phone was successfuly rooted

My phone was done by hardware cycle clip a couple of months ago, first experience with Ginberbreak was confusing but it does work. First turn on debug mode, second turn off fast boot in power menu cos you'll need to fully reboot after the gingerbreak error.....
So run gingerbreak and after the SD card can be removed safely indicating the sdcard is now unmounted, then wait a couple of minutes and give the screen a few swipe another message error that it didn't work telling you to check for superuser in the app drawer. Do check if superuser is installed then you're rooted but no use without SD card access, now just reboot fully and check that sdcard is mounted then go to market download Rom manager and flash clockworkmod.
If no further luck then refer to loveboatcaptain's unsecured boot image might be easier stickied thread.

*** unlocking bootloader from HTCDEV site is highly recommended for a permanent root solution***
1. enable usb debugging from settings - applications - development
2. plug phone to pc via usb cable - charge only
3. open extracted zip folder and click runme. thats all. (if experience any daemon hanging problems pls install htc sync and plug in phone so drivers are installed. once done delete htc sync and repeat root procedure)
PC will open a cmd screen with prompts that you need to follow. app does rest
4. After root is complete pls visit market and update SU app. once done root will be fully functional and eliminate any future FCs
5. Also as an extra tip you can install SU UPDATE fixer from market to update your binaries to 3.0
ALL DONE

how to fix that?
Go to the Market.

You can see that you can "UPDATE" it.
do it.
Now everything is up2date and the app is in your applist again.
Root Done.
have fun
( System tuner, Titanium backup, LBE privacy guard, busy box, everything is working fine )
Of course it is working I have even updated my SuperUser to v3.0.7
We have root, and so what's next?
..I would say next step should be to apply for the HTC Android Rhyme Forum Section ..

phone app and contacts crashing often

I just bought this phone a few days ago (Google pixel.). I'm a tinkerer. (My wife is always telling me to stop tinkering with the phone.). First thing I did when I got home is unlock the bootloader using depixel8. After that, I used Kingo root to root the phone. I am not running any custom recoveries or Roms. I'm just using power toggles to toggle data and greenify and coolify to help with battery. Twice now, my phone app and contacts have crashed where I click the icon and I get force close or wait prompt. I can force close it. But it doesn't help. Also gone into app info for both phone and contacts and stop the app and clear storage and it still crashes. Rebooting the phone fixes the problem temporarily. But it's annoying. Does anyone know why this keeps happening and how to fix it permanently?
Why did you use Kingo app to root ?
I would start from scratch and read how to properly root a pixel before doing anything.
I wouldn't use toolkits either.
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Kingo does not support Android 7 let alone the Pixel that is even more different than other phones that run 7. Flash it back to stock and root it properly.
Ok, I think I was a little tired when I wrote this thread. I didn't use kingo root to root it. I used depixel8 to unlock the bootloader. Then I followed the instructions on this page to root it...
https://www.xda-developers.com/root-is-now-available-for-the-google-pixel-and-pixel-xl/
But I did first attempt kingo root... so it has kingo root apps on it..

Turn off Coolify. Let's start there.
Ok, so I completely screwed up my phone. I tried to unroot it. I followed instructions on the web. They didn't work. Some of the commands failed. So, to attempt to fix it, I was thinking maybe if I re-locked the bootloader, I could reload the original rom. well, I totally screwed up doing that. Now it's locked and I can't send any images to it with fastboot. So, I'm stuck. I've googled it and found two other forums were others have done this and there has been no solution.

Well I got a new one and I can't help myself. I'm a tinkerer. I had to unlock and root it. My first attempt I screwed it up again where I couldn't boot the new phone. I learned my lesson on the last phone. Don't lock the bootloader. I got it back working and is working really nice rooted now. No crashing.
