My phone says rooted but I don't think it is. And help? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I have a galaxy s4 att model. My phone was rooted a while back. I thought root was taken off but when I updated to kitkat the boot screen with the custom message showed up again and when trying to open an app like isis a message comes up saying that my phone is rooted and it can't work. I noticed supersu says disabled and I can't Uninstall it. I want to completely remove root but I don't wanna lose any data. How do I do this? I have a galaxy s4 on att running kitkat. Any help would be appreciated.

To answer your question anyway, install supersu from market run it, press menu go to settings and clean up & unroot.
Or you could keep root, and install an app that hides root for specific apps. I think it is called root cloak or something.

If you do the OTA, you will lose root. Do it manually.
I mean seriously, you've managed to root your phone. The idea of puttiing the 2 files in your sd card (the 2.3.4 update zip file and the su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip file) shouldn't sound too hard to do.
After flashing the update via clockwork recovery...
(Note: if you try and install it via Rom Manager it will reboot by itself after installing the update. Therefore, losing root. So I suggest doing it manually: powering down and going into recovery mode.)
Instead of pressing on reboot you would then go and flashing the other file (su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip) that's already in there.
Once that's done you can reboot.
(This maintain permanent root.)
Download and install Root Explorer app from Android Market
Open Root Explorer and navigate to etc directory
Tap on the gray box that says Mount R/W
Tap and hold on the file install-recovery.sh and rename this file to install-recovery.sh.old
Once renamed, download and install the app called ROM Manager from Android Market
Once installed, open ROM Manager app and choose Flash ClockworkMod Recovery option.
Now you have 2.3.4 and permanent root. Don't make it harder than what it seems.

Ok lets say for retard purposes I wanted to loose root, updating would install correctly? I'm asking because I plan on getting the sensation when it comes out and I think it would be easier selling a stock phone.

can anyone confirm that the update will install correctly with no errors ??
Yes it will install fine and remove root for you.

I am new to the nexus as I just switched mtg epic for a nexus 4g. Is there any workaround for facebook contact synching issues? I cannot add facebook to my accounts and synch menu. Still living the phone though

I cannot update my phone with OTA, my phone is rooted.
And I do not really know what to do, I bought my phone rooted, second hand.
If your phone is Rooted, it will not take the OTA update, you have to be Stock!

[Q] Lost Root after update

I root my wife's Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) back in early Nov. It received an update the other day and now I have lost root access. I have attempted to reroot with no success. I tried the debugfs - both the superuser, and SU. I just get the error message su access denied. Model SCH-I535 Android Version 4.1.1, baseband I535VRBLK3.
How can I reroot this? Some of the apps stopped working correctly, some will open then close out.
HELP

The main reason I did was some of the game apps are not working correctly. the screen blanks out, if you hit the volume up, the screen comes back, but as soon as you touch the screen it blanks out again.
I have rerooted, and it is unlocked, everything else checks out. but the apps are still acting up.
Thoughts?

Root access not granted

I'm at a loss here. Chances are it's something simple that i'm missing but I'll ask here while I scan over everything. I'm trying to root my Galaxy Note 10.1 n8013 model and have carefully looked at guides for it.
CF-Auto-Root-p4notewifi-p4notewifiue-gtn8013 being flashed in Odin goes successfully and I see the super user app in my apps drawer after it restarts. I downloaded rootchecker from the market and it returns that I am not rooted and disappeared. I then downloaded the zip to flash in my recovery twrp and it said successful only to have it repeat on rootcheck.
i've done this process about five times now and no luck. It keeps saying google blocks rooted apps. any suggestions?

Not really shure what is going on... but, first of all open super su and make sure it doesn't need a binary update.
Secondly try to use a root app and see what happens, try with titanium backup for instance.
If none of that methods work try zedomax rooting metod - http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...-galaxy-note-10-1-easiest-methodcwmmethod-2/#
Make sure to do a backup before flashing any thing, just in case

Make sure auto-reboot is not checked when using odin. I believe if it is check root is lost on reboot.

[Q] Samsung infuse help

I have a Samsung Infuse 4G from AT&T unlocked to use on T-Mobile. I have upgraded from Samsung to GB 2.3.6 UCLB3 from Kies. I also rooted using Option 2 from J Scott (I think) with Odin. I would like to get rid of the AT&T stuff on the phone and have deleted most all but the Rethink Possible at bootup. Can I get rid of this too?. If I go back to stock will all this come back? Admittedly I dont know how to use Superuser. When I open it, it says "no apps". Please be gentle, grandma here trying to learn. Thanks

If you want to get rid of the (Rethink Possible) flash with Odin the option C and the gingerbread bootloaders from Jscott thread to get the CWM recovery and flash a custom rom of your choice, and you don't need to open the superuser app only when the binaries needs to be updated when you use an app that require root permissions the superuser app will ask you to (allow or deny) the permissions.

No binary

So here is my situation.
I have the s4 with Verizon add my carrier. While it was still running 4.3 i rooted it. Then I obtained the pro version of supersu which comes with a root saver option which I took advantage of. I then updated to 4.4.2 and these are my results.
When opening supersu I get a message saying that they is no binary and when using root checker it says it is not properly rooted.
However there was a new program included with the ota update (lsis mobile wallet) that when opened says "this program does not work with rooted phones". Another odd thing is that I use tasker and one of the features that you are supposedly not able to use without root is turning on GPS. However before I updated I set up a profile that opened up GPS any time I turned on a program that required it. Now after the ota update it is still working.
Any suggestions as to how I can repair my root accesses?

OTA + root = (The survival feature is NOT guaranteed to work especially on stock roms)
I suppose you have no working custom recovery installed?
The thing I don't understand is why I still have root abilities and why the one program is saying it won't work because of root on the phone

You still have root access? Then just re-root using SuperSU...
As you're rooted you can install xposed frame work + the module "root cloak" to hide your root status and run apps blocked by root
Thanks
