I was trying to Root my Tab2, its on update 4.2.2. i was watching a YouTube video on how to do it.
YouTube title: How To Root A Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P51xx
i did exactly what he said but ran into trouble when i was supposed to put the files onto the SD card.
So what i did was fire up Kies Air and transfer the PhilZ touch recovery.tar and Super SU folder to the sd card via Kies Air.
i thought that would be the same as plugging the sd card into my system as a usb drive.
then shut down and reboot with volume down and power. but it opens up this screen:
the top bar is highlighted blue and it says "reboot system now" its hard to see in the picture.
So if i hit the power button to select reboot now, the screen goes black and it just doesn't do anything.
I can get back to that screen if i hit volume down and power again, but cant seam to do anything else.
Plugging the tab into the usb does nothing.
Does someone know how i can get it running again?

I suggest you to do following steps:
1) First try to put your phone in Odin Mode(press Power button and Volume decrease Button simultaneously)
2) Then download odin.exe (search it on google).you will easily get it.
3) Then reflash your Regional Stock ROM again from Odin.
4) If these steps don't work out, please ask me again...(in case your tablet does not detect in Odin mode)
Prerequisites:
Make sure you have installed samsung usb drivers or kies in your PC.
Android System Recovery
The only thing it will do is go to Android System Recovery. It does not go into Odin.
I think the only option is to load something from the SD card from Android System Recovery.
I do have Odin 1.85, I did use Odin to load PhilZ recovery, but the next step was to load PhilZ recovery and Super SU on the sd card. at that point is where it stopped working.
Thanks
Steve
all fixed
I kept playing with it and finally it booted into oden.

What did you exactly do to play with it? I think I may be in the same situation as you but I have a P3113.

I have a samsung galaxy exhibit 2 4G that I rooted and flashed cm9 onto. Today I went to go flash a new rom on. When I am in recovery, whatever option I want to do, whether its wipe data or install from sd card, it just goes blank with the clockwork logo. So I then realized that I can't even access my external sd card on my phone. If I try to plug my phone into the computer, I just get the device not recognized popup.
So I can't restore my previous backup, I can't flash a new recovery, I can't even use an external sd card because it doesn't read properly, and the phone won't connect to the computer because the drivers are all screwed up. I don't know what to do. I tried a data reset, I tried to use rom manager, but it doesn't work with the exhibit 2.
I know it's an outdated slow phone, but I need this phone to work. Thanks!
Try pressing a different button to select, while in recovery. On my phone, I can use power button or search button. Menu button removes all text & I'm left with just the background.

I normally use the power button because that's what is normally suggested.

The answers are in there.
At the very lest you should be able to do an Odin flash but would wait on that for now.
Hello xda, I am currently trying to root my sprint gs3, iv gotton as far as here......
Going off of what this thread says..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726088
Download Odin3-v3.04 from the bottom of this post
Extract Odin3-v3.04 into it's own folder somewhere where you can easily find it.
Download clockworkmod.tar from the bottom of this post to somewhere you can easily find it.
Reboot your phone into download mode
Hold down Volume Down, Home and then the Power button until the Warning!! message is displayed
Press Volume Up to continue.
Your phone should now be in download mode, displaying a green Android and say Downloading. If it is not, power off your phone by holding down the power button and then try to get into Download mode again. Do NOT progress until you have done so.
Go into the folder you extracted Odin3 into and run Odin3 v3.04.exe (you may have to Right-Clik => Run as Administrator)
Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Drivers may install again; if this happens, allow them to finish before progressing.
In Odin, the COM box all the way to the left should turn blue and it should say Added!! in the Message area.
Click on PDA and in the Open window that pops up navigate to and open the clockworkmod.TAR file you downloaded earlier
Verify that Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked
Click Start. Once the process is completed you device should automatically reboot and there will be a green PASS! box in the upper left of the window. You can then close Odin.
now when i try to boot into recovery mode, it still says Android Recovery Mode, not CWM-Based Recovery. and i do not see the CMW_SuperUser_v3.07.zip when in recovery, im not sure if its because I put the CMW_SuperUser_v3.07.zip file in the wrong place or what? i wasnt too sure where the "root" of the internal storage was so i put it in the "phone" file that shows up when i hook up my device to the computer. I have rooted my epic4g i had before this and i had the same problem but dont remember how i got through it, any help please? greatly Appreciated for any info givin to get my phone rooted! thanks )

Okay, so I had my Tablet rooted for a couple days now and I installed an app called "[root] Chainfire3D" by Chainfire and I didn't have a custom recovery system (which I should've added TWRP or CWM in the first place) and I tried to install the driver it had on the app and my tablet crashed!!! It boots up and says "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" as usual, but now it doesn't load up the animated Samsung logo and stays on a lit, blank screen...PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!! :'(
It was running on 4.2.2 just fine with the SuperSU and after the driver installed from the Chainfire3D app, it crashed and rebooted. So I'm just wondering if I can use Odin 3.07 to unbrick my tablet and flash the 4.2.2 OS for GT-P3113 on it manually...if it is possible can I get steps on it and links to necessary files too please? I just want my tablet back to normal...before this happened....

ay
this wouldn't happened if you read the discreaption of the app which clearly says that the app doesnt support anything further than GingerBread,
Anyway here is a way of un-bricking
Boot your tablet to stock recovery mode by pressing power button and vol+ buttons (you can search the internet on how to do that too)
When the recovery loads up : Press on wipe data factory rest (navigate using vol+ or vol- and enter using Power/lock button
Now after wiping done press and hold the power button and the vol- button until a warning comes press the vol+ button , now you are in download mode
Download ODIN 3.09 from HERE and extract to anywhere
Download a recovery (in .tar format) from HERE by @Android-Andi
Once that downloaded , in odin screen press on the pda button and select the file we downloaded
Now plug in your tab
Odin should display on one of the boxes Com blahblah (if not you have wrong drivers installed
Now make sure that on auto reboot and fresttime boxes are checked
Now press on start
It will flash and go to the place where we started dont worry or panic
Now boot to recovery mode as described in the first steps
Now you should have a new recovery installed
From that recovery make a wipe data factory rest
Then Connect you tab to pc
Install adb from HERE
Install adb drivers from HERE
Download any rom from the development section
Put the rom downloaded on your desktop
Now start adb from the shortcut on your desktop (The short cut appears once you install adb from the link i gave)
A cmd will pop up
Type : adb devices , if everything is correct it will show some numbers (your device serial number often found on your original box of your respective tab ) and a state where your device is (it should show recovery)
Now if you are using cwm/philz you have to go to install zip >> choose zip from sideload
Now on your Cmd window type : adb sideload(and then hit space button)
Now drag and drop the zip we put on desktop to cmd window and hit enter
If everything is correct is should hang abit and say sending sideload and the percentage
after reaching 100% it will flash
The installtion will be on your device after compelete reboot to your new rom
tada you have unbricked your tab
Now search for guides on the internet on how t get back to stock
Please hit the thanks button if i helped you even if i didnt hit thanks simple :laugh:
Hey Mythi
Thanks for the advice, and yeah you're right, I should've read the info of the app before installing and well...yeaaahhhh.....I was dumb on my part. I was just looking for apps that would help improve my tablet more because there are games that I want to use with top notch graphics like Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 8...you know, use them at full potential or at least 70% of that potential. :/

Question...
Ummm...where is that?
Hey guys, my friend just gave me his phone model Gt-i5800 to fix, and it stuck in boot (startup). First, I though that just a simple flash will be enough, but it didn't work, I tried to flash it with Odin, but doesn't download all files it stuck there too, can't access recovery as well.
you will be able to tell from this picture.
any ideas?
and thanks.
Plug the device in and charge to 100% on wall outlet.
Download and install Kies 2.6 onto you Windows PC. (While the device charges.)
Open Kies and update if necessary.
When Charged, Plug the device into the PC using OEM cord. Press the "Home" button and make sure battery reads 100%.
Place device into ODIN Download mode. (Press and "HOLD" the Volume Down, and Home buttons. Then "Press and Release" the Power button for 1 second. KEEP holding the two buttons until the warning message or Android appear.)
Inside the Kies Software, select "Tools", then "Update and Initialize Device" follow instructions on the screen.
Note: Once Kies is showing that it is downloading, it would be good to browse to your TEMP folder (Located in Windows 7 @ C:\Users\*Your User Name on Computer*\Local\Temp) and COPY the "Tmp.***.zip" file that will appear to you "Desktop" while the device is reprogrammed. This is the complete factory image of your device, and may be needed later to ODIN Flash if Kies fails!
Hi everyone.
Ok back in August I purchased an Oppo r7plus "m" version not knowing the difference, from a 3rd party seller. I know I probably should've waited until the phone would go on sale in Canada but I wasn't sure if it ever would. So anyways the phone worked great for a while. I noticed that it came pre loaded with OPPO Tools and Super SU. I thought wow, this phone is rooted right of the box? Great! So I started uninstalling some native apps of which I thought were just "bloatware", everything went fine until I uninstalled the weather app.
When I turned the phone back on after restarting, it now goes into the OS but continuosly flashes on and off and you can only access the dropdown notification screen. Luckily from there I can still access the settings menu. I tried holding the power button and volume down button to go to the factory boot screen. That worked and in there its says the color os version, but in brackets says
(rooted).
I can only assume the phone is still rooted but is stuck in some sort of soft brick. I've been doing alot of reading into how I might be able to fix the phone but I'm having trouble figuring it out. I'm good with computers and all but not to this level and I never rooted an android phone before.
Please somebody HELP.
So I've downloaded the ROM for my phone model, r7 plus m, and I transfered the zip file over to the internal storage of the device. I then held down the volume down and power buttons to boot to color os recovery. Than I cleared cache and install from sd found the zip file and it started to run.
After about a minute or two into the installation it stops and reads "Installation Failed". I'm thinking I need a recovery.img file but I'm not sure. Even if I had that file I don't know what to do next.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, how did you sort it? Are you still in need of stock recovery? I have one for model F, dont know if it works with M model.
1. Download and extract my RAR files ---> HERE
2. Open your PC device manager
3. Connect an usb cable only to your pc then press and hold the phone volume + button and then connect the usb cable to the phone
3. In the device manager you will see Qhsub_bulk then release the volume+ button
4. Right click on Qhsub_bulk and choose update driver
5. Use one of the driver folders which you alredy extract to install the Qualcomm driver and you will see it like 9008
6. Your phone have to be charged very well for a few hours before you try to flash it.
7. Remove it from the charger then connect an usb cable only to your pc.
8. Try to press and hold the volume + and power buttons at the same time for a few seconds and connect the usb cable to the phone.
9. You have to see the driver in the device manager like 9006 (you can release the buttons) [it wasn't easy for me so keep trying]
10. Open the MSMDownloader and press start
11. If everything is ok you will see a green progress bar flashing. (I was stuck here with the "NON-HLOS.bin" file which you can see in the "Other NON-HLOS File" folder inside the rom which you download)
12. When the process complete in about 10 minutes you can remove the usb cable from your phone.
13. Now you have to do a veeeeeeeery long press and hold on your power button untill you feel the vibration and after that you will see the OPPO logo.
14. Leave it for 5-10 minutes to load the Color OS.
15. Ok you have a working phone but still some apps icons that are missing and the keyboard doesn't appear when you have to write something.
16. Download THIS zipped ROM and put it in the internal storage of your phone.
17. Shut down the phone then press and hold the volume - and the power button at the same time for a while intil you enter into recovery mode.
18. Choose english and then install rom from zip file. After the installation complete reboot the phone and you will get a working keyboard and few more apps like Browser, Chinese market and else....
For me i still need to insert the IMEI's because they are lost... and now i have message: Oppo nv backup. The NV partition is invalid...
Good luck to all! And if you want to give me a beer: paypal: [email protected]
