[Request] jiayu G3S kernel (mtk6589t) - Miscellaneous Android Development

hi can someone plz make a new kernel for jiayu G3S (mtk6589t) ?
and a cyanogenmod rom would be great

no.
until sources aren´t released nobody can build a 100% working custom kernel.

No kernel source, no GPL compliance , and worse NO CREDITS from the commits that where added to kernel.
And then you complain about Mediatek not being GPL friendly...
This is why there is so few REAL development on MTK devices.

When in the changelog fraggel say "-Patch binder.c for Android KitKat support" what that means? That can be possible make a custom kk rom for jiayu?

It means that the kernel is patched for selinux support and can be used for kitkat roms

But for that we need the source code right?....i have been reading some posts that the problem with kitkat in mtk devices is that mtk dont give the kernel source code to implement that...so how fraggel has the code?

The sources for mt6589 chip is out;Allowing us to build kitkat ROMs. I'm not really sure about mt6589t. Mediatek is violating GPL compliance laws and should make their kernel open source but when it gets leaked we developers try to do the best we can

Turns out Kernel sources should be compatible with MT6589/MT6589M/MT6589T because the OC is hardware dependent (it gets the values of the board to detect which generation it is)

If it is out why don't exist custom roms? doesn't exists interesting devices with this chip? I know that developers have a life but i am interested to know

Probably they don't own the chip. Developers who have the chip don't know of how to build or they just have a life.

Sorry to bump this thread but, I want to develop my own custom rom from source for my Jiayu G3T MTK6589T and i found de Iocean x7 Kernel.
Is this compatible with de Jiayu? or if so, is it easy to make it compatible for the Jiayu?
Im new to developing roms and building from source. But sick at home for a long while probably so I got time on my hands to try and compile/build my own rom/kernel.
But I need help with it... the source for the Iocean X7 can be found on: https://github.com/GuneetAtwal/android_kernel_iocean_mtk6589t
In my opinion it looks complete.
Please help me in the right direction to create my own rom?
thnx

anyone who knows what their doing can build any of the AOSP based rom's for the moto G, with the sources available. (unofficial)
but if your asking if its been announced that the moto G is getting those officially then i have no idea.
Yes i'm talking about announcement by the MIUI , CM or PA Team. I ask it to Silencer96.

Yeah, the kernel configs are what's legally required by Motorola. Every manufacturer has to release the sources as part of the GPL. It's really nothing special
They legally don't have to but if they want to be googles favorite then they will they could release a manual and still be aosp

Is licenses stuff, some android parts are GPL(Open source), these are Kernel and minor things, the rest of important part(Device and Vendor) are APACHE2 and the brands are allowed to don't release it.
Do the device and vendor repos contain drivers or just configs? Sorry for the noob question...

Ports anger a lot of devs cause it take a lot to build a ROM from source and a port is ripping off their work. And its the easy way and its to quick to put the effort in and make sure its quality.

[DEV][C2105][Kernel][TWRP]Compiling Sony Kernel Sources for Kitkat

I am very interested in porting Xperia L to OmniRom and had starting work on it. The kitkat sources is already available anyway(see here). Compiling it is easy, just follow the instructions. I now have a working kitkat rom which unfortunately seem to have a serious bug of unable to go into deep sleep(dropped >40% over a night).
I have started work on the kernel sources and wish to invite all developers who are interested to work together.
For those of you with wifi issue, make sure that you are on stock rom 15.3.A.x.x
Extracted from Sony opensource
Most of the AOSP for Xperia L device configurations are cloned from the official Xperia L software version 15.3.A.0.x, so please make sure that you upgrade the phone software to, for example 15.3.A.0.26, before flashing the AOSP for Xperia L images, or certain functions like WiFi may not work.
Known issues/workaround:
1. There are some missing KLOG information that prevent building of the kernel( fix by disabling CCI_KLOG)
2. Deep sleep issue seem to be caused by wait_for_irsc_completion timeout(workaround by disabling
MSM_IPC_ROUTER_SECURITY)
3. Enable reboot recovery

Have not worked with CAF kernel before. Moreover, the most important thing now is to get a stable working kernel for kitkat before embarking on anything else.
I will update my progress here in this thread. Its good to keep the communication open here so that others can also contribute/help. Right now, I can successfully compiled the zImage. Going to test it out later on.
update: notice that you have the 15.3.A.1.14 sources. Where did you get it from? My phone was running on this build before I flashed the AOSP 4.4 rom. Dont you have the CCI_KLOG compilation error on 15.3.A.1.14?
I got playing with kit kat for few days and when the phone try to go in deep sleep there is QSEECOM errors that stopped the freezing...
Im not a pro dev,so I might be wrong.

Which ROM did you test from? I just flashed the one I compiled from source last night so did not get to test much. What I did noticed was that the battery dropped >40% overnight. I suspect that it might not have gone into deep sleep.

Yes October 31, I for got same response.
This appears to possibly be a clone hardware device.
http://hammerphones.com/produkty/hammer-energy-2/
Edit:
Phone is close but not full clone.
Touchscreen is different
one of the cameras is different
main speaker is different.
I found this phones stock rom and tried its kernel on the tank, It did not boot.
not that is helps since I find its kernel to not work for us, here is link to the thread (in polish) that has the stock ROM

This phone is Android 6 not Android 7, so unlikely the kernel or ROM would work on our tank.

Followed up with blu again, about sources. I told them it has been over the stated 30 days,
they responded with the following statement
Code:
Thank you for contacting BLU Products. We are happy to help you!
Please note a formal request has been placed for the information requested. Please contact us back within 48-72 hours to have an answer regarding this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience.
and on the ftp site there is now a folder for "Tank Xtreme Pro" but the folder is empty right now .

I have gotten past the "make mrproper" errors by back-tracing the errors, and found references to "obj" include lines in 3 make files that point to files that are not in the source. I commented (#) out the lines and got build to start. But again ran into an issue. A missing "lcm-list.o" file. And if I comment that reference out build continues and seemed like it would complete, but failed when build looked for the resulting lcm list that had not been made.
My edits are probably wrong but here is what I have done so far;
1. /drivers/input/fingerprint/Makefile
comment out line #9
"obj-$(CONFIG_MTK_SUNWAVECORP_TEE) += sunwavecorp_tee/"
2. /drivers/misc/mediatek/base/power/Makefile
comment out line #39
"obj-$(CONFIG_MT2701_DCM) += mt2701_dcm/"
3. /drivers/misc/mediatek/Makefile
comment out line #92
"obj-$(CONFIG_MTK_SM100) += tc1_interface/vib_drv/"
Those changes allow build to start, still looking at LCM driver build error
I have been trying to use the "fq5c_defconfig" based on the build_flavor in stock build.prop.
But I also found those two "almost" clone type devices "Nomu S20" and "myphone Hamer Energy" , both of which also have "fq5c" in there build_flavor. Neither of those kernels boot in the Tank.
So my question is, How to know which defconfig to use?
