[Discussion and Request] Desire Sv Jelly Bean Rom Porting - Android General

Htc desire sv has officially Ics 4.0.4 rom. And Htc will not give any upgrade to our device. They are saying that you can install a custom rom if you want. But there is no jb rom for desire sv. A lot of desire sv users try to port jb rom to our devices. But they didn't manage it. Because desire sv has Dual SIM. We thought that nobody can port a useful jb rom to Desire Sv.
But I saw that HTC product a new device that has dual sim card with Jelly Bean 4.1.2. And this device's name is Desire 500. Now I think that a big person, a great developer can port this device's JB rom to our Desire SV's. And we can have Jelly Bean rom.
Thanks.
Here is the rom of desire 500 for you to port it to desire sv: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6WBFlAKqe30QVNYelN1UzZhUHc/edit?usp=sharing
here is the original desire 500's topic on 4pda: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=504103&st=20#entry25576269

I AM HATING HTC FOR THIS. WHY DO THEY MAKE SENSE SO RESOURCE HUNGRY IF THEY CANT RELEASE UPDATE ON TIME. No wonder people prefer other devices from sammy or sony, as they get updates regularly. HTC just gets a new device instead of getting a new upgrade for a previous one..this was my last phone from HTC.

yes, thats right. Sony releases the upgrades for all of their devices. For example. xperia u.

HTC is now hopeless

Agree with you. HTC used to be great with Windows phones, providing earliest updates to users. Now they just dont care of the updates. I bought the Desire SV just because of my previous notion. And now it seems HTC does not plan to upgrade D-SV to any newer version. Seems they are only upgrading their flagship phones. Too bad. No more HTC for me.

Hello guys, You can have JB rom but first you need to develop Linux kernel 3.4 or bring ION support to your existing 3.0.21 kernel. Only then, JB rom can boot on your device.

No, it is still Froyo... It's pretty much just the new sense, but CDMA based I assume since its for the new Incredible S.
There is a /system available as well in the HTC Desire forums/
What more information do you want? It's the stock release for the new Incredible S.
/sigh.
so will this work on the EVO 4g? It would be cool to have sense 2.0

YES to have this on the EVO would be hella nice!! Just need a few things fixed which I hope by now would be easier this time around since it's been done already with the Desire HD/Z roms!
All of HTCs ROM leaks are posted to that site, HTC is a Taiwanese company after all...
On the other hand, I haven't been able to get a copy of it either. Anyone know chinese?

For some reason, I couldn't figure the dl's out myself either. There are mirrors on the first page of this thread for unpacked system/boot imgs.

[Q] What ICS Rom are you using, Screen shot's would be Great.

Since the source for ICS Sense for the sensation was released there has just been a sh*t ton of roms out, some claiming to be straight up ICS Sense and some claiming to have all of the sense stripped off so it's more or less AOSP. I was just wondering what your (the community's) think about it and what Rom you think is best and why. Like I said in the title, Screen shots would be great.
Thanks,
Knot....

I am using arhd 5.0.2 by mike1986
I preferr sense to ics aosp launcher.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
I had ARHD but had to desinstall due to random reboots... Other than the reboots it is fantastic. It has this polished touch that GB doesn't have.
So I think I'll wait for the official release...

June 4th Update

So what does the June 4th update mean for me. Will Trickdroid 3.0 be updated then? Should I wait to flash then?
Once updates come out usually devs will work in putting the changes into their roms.
I'm personally waiting to flash a rom til after this update

4.0.4 !!! this is good
I doubt this is 4.0.4... I think there might be a few radio fixes and tweaks but nothing indicates a newer ics version. I guess we'll find out on the 4th.

but it´s only for T-Mobile´s phones i hope european users can install that OTA quickly i feel with 1.78 i have less network than 1.53..
I still see nothing that indicates an update to 4.0.4. The release mentions 4.0.3 though.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
Yea, the note says it is still 4.0.3. Is there anything even worth while in 4.0.4 that it is so important other than a number upgrade? Going back the the OP, yes, ROMs like TrickDroid will update the base to the latest. It is for T-MobUS, but I'm sure our boys across the pond will get soon. I'm sure EU ROMs like LeeDroid will update as well as soon as the update is released on the 4th.

+1 - same here, signal is almost useless indoors. Outdoors a lot of fluctuations!

I forget the specifics, but yes, 4.0.4 brings a significant number of improvements, 100+, but nothing you'd notice UI wise. They're all just tweaks to the existing code.

Looks like we won't be getting any Kit Kat goodness.

At least according to this dev (A reliable source for HTC things), if HOX has zero chance of getting KK, I guess we have fewer chances
We will always have custom rom options tho

It's been well known for a while that the 4.2.2 update would be the last official update that our device receives. Like you said though, devs will probably bring it to us via cm based ROMs if possible.

Considering that HTC One ROMs have seen their way over here (with varying levels of success) isn't it possible that if the One gets an update, we may benefit from that?
As far as I know, there has only been one HTC One ROM that booted, which was r1 - r3.7 MagioRom, and that was a port of a port (ported to evo lte then to Evita).
Our best bet is going to be aosp.

That's up to the cm developer (h8rift), and whether our phone can handle it.
And no, like I said earlier in this thread, HTC won't be updating us to 4.3, this recent 4.2.2 update is the last official update we'll see.

Not surprised at all by this, but I'm also not a fan of CM battery life on this phone. I'll probably just get a new phone when the KK itch hits me.

Kickdroid was based on the stock AT&T One ROM, as was carl1961's UrDroid.

Of course, nearly anything is possible. It just depends on how fired up the devs are, and whether they have the time for it.

I've been running the latest 4.3 aosp ROMs (carbon, slimbean, illusion) and I'm getting fantastic battery life. Aosp has come a long way in terms of battery consumption.

For the HTC one, it is already clear, but it will come for the little brother too ...
Yes it will, LlabTooFeR confirmed it a while ago

I'm aware...I'm saying there will be a path to newer Android versions whether or not HTC gets around to it this year or next year or if they wait ages to release a "stock official" update. Stock is boring anyways ;P

Install APEX LAUNCHER to get rid of Sense !!!
I've skipped 4.3 and started on KitKat...I'll keep you guys in the loop whenever i get audio tx working, i'll release an alpha for it. haven't forgotten about you guys, i love this phone and want to use it as my DD (even owning an evita, n4, m7 and a totemc2).
hello rifty
@ rift
Thank you much working on it.
Can you maybe tell us when you could do the first releases. Do you think we can see ir even this year ?
Received the update today! HTC Sense 5.5 and Android 4.3 on One Mini. I am on Vodafone Romania
And me today in Italy, no brand !
I recently noticed some multitask issue when switching between opened apps. For example when I'm on Facebook, and I switch to Tapatalk - it looks blurred for about a second. It happens in every app, even with the gallery.
It looks a bit like re-loading an app instead of keeping in cache. It wasnt like that in 4.2.2 version.
Can you guys check yours?
Thanks
I confirm the blurred initial image's app...
But I don't think the app are reloaded since I found them in the same point I leave them...
