All,
This rom is a rebuilt version of the latest Telstra AU ROM with GPS fix ( RUU_Bravo_Telstra_WWE_1.16.841.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_126124_signed ).
I have removed all of the Telstra crap and added some useful apps. I have deployed it to my unbranded phone and it is working fine.
Changes from the standard ROM include:
- Removed all of the Telstra apps (except whereis... maybe next version )
- Added root access, of course
- Apps2SD included but not functional (you can get it to work by issuing adb commands)
- WiFi Tethering included. Will probably remove from the next version as it's a bit flaky.
- Changed the boot animation to the Nexus One anim
- Some additional apps such as:
3D Gallery
Car Home
Navigator
Voice Dialer
Others I inevitably forgot
To do:
- Figure out how to add APNs to the ROM
- Fix A2SD
Download link is in the next post.

IMPORTANT: READ FIRST
Flashing ROMs in general is a risky business. If you've never flashed a non-standard ROM before, I suggest you read about and understand the method before you even consider downloading this. I take no responsibility for any issues that may be caused by this ROM. Use it at your own risk.
I also suggest you read here and note any known issues and changes for new versions.
You must have a rooted handset to be able to flash this ROM. Head over to MoDaCo, or search XDA for guides on how to root your phone.
To flash this ROM to a rooted handset, follow these instructions:
BEFORE YOU START
Copy the zip file to the root of your SD card.
Method A:
1a) Power on your phone, holding the VOLUME-DOWN button until you see the HBOOT menu
2a) Use the VOLUME buttons to navigate to the "Recovery" option and select it using the POWER button
....continue from step 3 below.
Method B (quicker but requires SDK)
1b) Boot up your phone and connect it to your PC via Micro-USB cable
2b) Execute 'adb reboot recovery' form the tools directory of the Android SDK
....continue from step 3 below.
3) Once you see the red triangle (of death ) connect your phone to your PC using the micro-USB cable
4) Go to the 'pushfiles' folder that came with the root-kit from MoDaCo.
5) Execute ./recovery-linux.sh (Linux), ./recovery-mac.sh (OSX) or recovery-windows.bat (Windows) and wait for the recovery menu to load.
6) Use the TRACKBALL to navigate to the Wipe option. Select Wipe by clicking the optical trackball. Do a System wipe, followed by a cache wilpe and finally a dalvik-cache wipe (each of the first three options). Once complete, press the VOL-DOWN button to return to the main menu.
7) From the main menu select FLASH ZIP FROM SDCARD, select the ROM zip file, confirm flash.
8) Once flashing is complete, select REBOOT from the menu.
9) Enjoy your uncluttered handset

Changelog
=======================
Issues:
=======================
- Titanium Backup not working. Its not included in the ROM but just thought I'd mention it It complains about not being able to get root access whereas every other app that requires root access works fine so far. Downloading busybox through TB causes a FC.
- Some people are getting the A2SD infinite boot loop issue (next version will definitely not include A2SD as you can add it yourself if you want it).
You can get out of the loop by doing:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
from the SDK tools folder on your PC to get back to the recovery menu.
You can also do 'adb shell' and then issue the command 'a2sd' from the shell but I wouldn't advise it. It will boot up 'normally' but it's not a permanent fix.

Nice one!!
I'm yet to root my phone and WILL get to it in good time.
When I do, I'll give this one a flash.
Thanks for your work.
Death to all the Hellstra visual bloatware scum that crapped up the original ROM (stupid splash screen Tel$tra ding noise especially)

Hey guys,
Correct me if I'm wrong but for anyone with a Telstra set the problem is 2 fold?
1) we need to be able to Root the phone, Paul's latest 0800 root method will hopefully fix this
2) we need a ROM that incorporates the Telstra GPS fix whilst debloating the phone.
Does that mean that if we want to use GPS we are restricted to ROMs cooked with the GPS fix? or will any generic ROM do the trick (i.e. those from MoDOCO?
I am experiencing the pink AMOLED problem at low brightness and may have to replace the phone with another one. If I root the phone and flash this ROM, can I flash back the original ROM that I downloaded recently from HTC to restore it to the state it was when I bought it?

I dont think so. You could flash the original Telstra one back again but the recovery partition is wiped/messed around with as part of the rooting process. Have a look around Modaco and you'll find your answer - you're definitely not the first to ask.

The GPS issue was a software related bug from the shipped ROM, I read somewhere on here someone mentioning that they flashed the generic ROM and had GPS working before HTC/Telstra released the update

yeah the new Telstra ROM had the exact same GPS config as my unbranded one so the prolem was caused by Telstra meddling with things.... surprise surprise!

Cheers bcmobile. So in your opinion am I correct in saying that it's better I wait until the screen problem is worked out (to return under warranty to Telstra from whom I bought it outright) before I go rooting the device?
well tried yrs BC
and now it boots to the htc logo ..and stays there
i've tried twice now.
i can get to recovery mode tho, something wrong with yr image maybe?
note in recovery mode ..down the bottom, it says " Build: not set"
note that i tried yrs after succesffulyy rooting via the latest method from paul, and, applying the radio update. neither got my gps working so i've tried yrs ..

I've used three Desires and they all show the pink on low brightness so returning it under warranty won't help you.
ok, my phones working again, rerooted with pauls method.
but have no gps and i can't flash back to the telstra rom thanks to the radio updating my hboot to .80
same here guys. I rooted using Paul's latest method but gps stopped working. and when flashing this Rom it hangs at the white HTC screen. now back to Paul's rooted Rom. hope we fix the gps issue soon!

Thanks for your feed back. At the risk of hijacking this thread and double posting - My post on the AMOLED sticky.
In summary if you don't want to read my above post, I saw 2 phones 'in store' that did not have the pink issue.
Now quicker and easier!
Please note, this CAN brick your phone. Do not proceed if you are not confident in your ability.
Any damages caused are your own problem and I withhold any liability for any future issues caused by this process
Just a small note, I am aware of the screen in recovery moving, this is because of HTC's framebuffer method, I haven't been able to fix it yet.
1: Unlock your phone at the htcdev site, follow the instructions on the site
2: Download the following two files. Download either ClockworkMod Recovery for ICS OR Clockworkmod Recovery for JB depending on which version you are on and Superuser.zip, Move the Superuser.zip to somewhere on your phone's SD card.
3: reboot your phone into hboot and then into fastboot if you are not already there
4:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
this is presuming the recovery.img is in the same directory as fastboot, you can either move it or point the code to it directly
5: open recovery.
6: Flash the superuser.zip through recovery
7: reboot
8: Congratulations, your phone should now be rooted, go have fun with the ability to access your phone fully!
Edit: Here is a copy of the stock recovery recovery_signed.img
For those who want to install busybox, check out this post.
Also, due to the current issues I still haven't had the time to fix I'd suggest using the TWRP recovery for the time being.

Slightly in that the Clockworkmod recovery isn't fully functional (power as select does not work) and as such is missing some features.

I'd suggest installing busybox and using something like this , it's how I'm backing mine up currently.
Hello. Thank you very much for your guide, my One SV is now rooted. But I can't install Busybox ("Installing Busybox failed")... Can you tell us how we can install it ?...
Additional info please.
Hello do we leave the phone in recovery while we finish the code for rooting or should we be in the bootloader, fastboot still, or should the rom be booted up. I just wanna make certain so I dont Brick this thing.

I have got bootloader unlocked, recovery pushed and installed. Now I have unknown device in device manager named k2u that wont intall drivers. I cannot connect via adb shell because it cannot find device??? Any Ideas??
I had the same problem, and after multiple tries I finally find a solution : install HTC Sync, then edit the androidusb.inf file (in my case, the path is C:\Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x86\androidusb.inf) and add in its "Device section" a line with the ID number of the One SV (you can find it in the Device Manager on your PC) :
%MyHTC%=HTCAND32.Dev, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0D0F&MI_00
Then, restart your PC, reboot your phone in recovery and connect it, Windows must install "new" driver and recognize it as "My HTC", and you can root your smartphone with the guide of bkcokota. It's the only way I've found, but perhaps there is an easiest solution ?
(Sorry for my bad english... I hope that you'll understand what I wrote !)

Where can i find the id in device manager.. No HTO One sv listed... Only one listing is My HTC which appears to be fully loaded and functioning. I have htc sync loaded and running i cant adb anything.... Man I am no newbie at this at all but, this is really confusing me!! I hope xxdjvalexx the O.P. Dev pm's me back with some help... I will prevail though!!
The ID is in device manager when you connect your One SV to your PC in recovery ; it's the ID of the "unknown device" named "k2u"... It's normally USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0D0F&MI_00, as I said in my last post.
Open Sesame!!!
Fantastic, Awesome and overall a Great Experience! I have learned a lot over the years with XDA and friends. Patience, is the key oh and reading.. I cant wait until the rom development blows up on this thing. When do you suppose xda will put up a official device development thread??
Probably sometime after it drops on sprint which has anyone heard? Anyway as indicated by my elation above root achieved with this device. Now just wait out the clockwork mod scene. I am on Cricketusers.com on the One SV forum there if anyone needs a helping hand or maybe a beta tester. Just let me everyone. I would love to give something back to this very awesome community I call home on most late evenings and early mornings.
I will be a very active member for this device here as well so hit me up I am constantly on TapaTalk with my phones.
Hooray and Cheers to all the Devs out there!!:highfive:. swes013
Re: [GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV
I'm glad you got it working, I've heard it is coming to Sprint soon but I don't know much more than that, Australia is a bit far away to get the best gossip, I don't know when our if we are getting a forum but considering the fact it hasn't even been out for even a month yet I'd say be patient, just for reference I don't know if this matters to you but I have called up HTC and had a chart to them about getting the kernel source, apparently they don't have out ready yet but it should be up "soon". Hopefully it is soon, I'd love to get cyanogenmod on this. I might drop by the cricket forums and see what is there.

Re: [GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV
Alright guys and gals.... Another small update. Still obviously more obstacles and development will continue as the actual root access is only gained while the rom is powered up. After a power off shutdown, and reboot root is lost. Alas you cannot delete bloat ware apps using root file explorer pro. Also tried doing a few tweaks with my rom toolbox pro like, LCD density, configuring A2SD etc.... Any thoughts chime on in guys lets get this thing hashed out before Sprint gets it. That way all our further development can continue without any hiccups... It seems that without a working recovery the root we push with web will be a useless exploit... Alas at least for now!

In my case, the root isn't lost after a power off shutdown : I shutdown the phone every evening, and I've never lost root...
With SuperManager, I can modify system (the weather database for example), and Titanium Backup works perfectly. The only problem which I have is that I cannot install BusyBox.
Re: [GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV
wow I wonder what went wrong in my case?? Its like it only did a temp root kind of process. I may try to re root the thing again just to see but... I don't wanna fry this thing before I have had it for a little longer I think. You are on cricket
Wireless yes? I just don't know why mine wouldn't take a solid permanent root..?

No, I'm not on Cricket Wireless (I'm French), and my ROM is stock HTC. Have you a specific operator ROM? Maybe it is the cause of the problem?
Hi guys, I'm just going to try my luck on this one.. As I see that you guys have managed to successfully rooted your phones, could someone please do a ROM/system dump and share it..? I would like to port this ROM on our devices. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that.. But there's another way AFAIK that works. Using a Root Granted File Explorer (I use X-Plore), you can try to copy the "system" folder to ur sd card.. It "may" copy all of the files of system.. Can you do that for me?
Still cant achieve a permenant root.
Hello everyone, I still cant achieve a permenant root on this one sv. Some more info is that it is Cricket wireless Carrier specific got at a authorized cricket dealer on Like Jan 20 I think. So it saysy its rooted and su asks permission on all root level; apps however when i use root explorer to delete like say cricket nav and crkit mobile browser it deletes them.. they are gone. Until power down or, reboot then they are right back poof. Any bright ideas??
Android 4.04
HTC Sense 4.1

Specks in case they help spark any idead although I doubt it...

I still dont have a working root for this phone!! Has I tried this mod here and it seemed to work good. At least the for a minute or two. I then tried to delete some system apps I wanted gone with root explorer. It let me delete them just fine.. Wow just when i thought I was a happy man....BAM rebbot, Powerdown, and reboot, then root changes wont commit. All apks I deleted are back even though my root explorer pro said I was mouted to system as root..?? Funny hugh any help from mmaybe someone on cricket with this phone who achieved a permenant root can help me. Or maybe everyone here is waiting patiently for a working CWM recovery before they try and acieve root. Maybe I should have waited too. Alrhough I dont think I boirked my phone because it still works graet except my root level acess that i want so badly...
I saw this same problem with the HTC Droid DNA. I don't have the One SV, but I suspect that the stock kernel will not let you manipulate the /system folder.
With the DNA there was at least one dev that made a kernel which would allow you to change stuff. Also custom ROMs can have everything modified already. That would work as well.
Oh and which recovery are you using? Does it belong to another phone?
Hello dear XDA-developers,
I am thinking of buying a new phone, so i came across this phone called the "K-Touch Hornet II V9", it is a Chinees phone. and I couldn't find it on xda-developers.com.
So I was wondering if it is possible to have a Custom Rom installed on it.
Maybe to create my own Custom Rom with this toolbox:http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...stallation-with-android-ultimate-toolbox-pro/
I have a technical background so I guess this should be manageable for me to understand.
Anyways hope to get some reactions on this topic.
Cheers, and many thnxs in advanced,
DesireDroid
Ps.: I currently have a HTC Desire (classic) and rooted that one. and installed some custom roms on it. like the Leedroid custom rom:
Hello,
I am interesting in your request because i have the same device.
Could you tell me if you found anything about an alternative ROM for the "K-Touch Hornet II V9" ?
Regards

Succelfully ROOT K-Touch V9
Hi, las nigth I rooted the Phone whis this tool www . srsroot.com
I have selected the First Root method.
and the program tried to root the phone whith several different tools, and in the process make the phone reboot several times...
In the final steps i was very nervous becouse the phone was rebooting in a loop like half and hour... The Root program in my PC were telling me to wait 1 minute after the phone boot and press ok in the win window after that.
1 time the phone stop looping the boot, so then i tried to unlock the screen to check... but once i didt it, the phone starts to reboot in a loop again.
So, the next time i saw the phone boot ok, i didnt unlock the screnn. I just wait ti finish the boot and press the ok button in my PC.
An then the root program tells me that the root its OK!! The program finished intalling the Superuser.apk... And thats all...
I download Root Checker.apk and verify the succes root after agree to the Superuser App to allow root privileges to the aplication...
I rebooted again the phone and I checked that the root in permanet..
So, by now is how far a can go...
Now I need to intall the CMW 6.0.1.1 to finally Flash a ROM in Spanish and after that intall Gapps from Google...
The same program that root the phone, can make it reboot in recovery mode whit CWM 6.0.1 but in chinese, anyway helping me whit another phone whit the same recovery in English i can go on whit the program and made a Backup of the rooted phone... but i think i am not safe this way flashing a new rom becouse if something go wrong i cannot boot again this mode if i dont boot the phone first in the normal way...
Could anybody help me whit that?
I almost forget, my version of android of my Ktouch V9 is 4.0 and with CN/EN Languages
I hope i did will be helpfull
Bye!

I found k touch stock and custom rom on http://www.ndroidzone.com/
Hey everyone! I would like to start off by saying that I am brand new here, and am surely going to mess up quiet alot... But here goes,
I've recently rooted my phone with a very simple guide, and it's the first device I've every rooted. So I know very little of the process of doing so, (I'm learning slowly).
I also have found a rom that I would like to install, but I would love to know if others think it seems legit? If it is real, I know many people would absolutely love to use it! The rom's URL is (ht tp:// playfuldroidz.com /wiki/ CyanogenMod_10_Motion) (Please remove spaces, sorry as I said i'm new...)
Now I don't mind testing this myself, but being as new as I am at android I honestly do not know how to follow the relatively simple instructions.
(This Is where I need some help, Please be noob cautious!)
Download the .zip & copy to phone or sdcard (make sure 4g or wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone).
Zip can be installed from either internal or external sd in CWM (Which ever you copied it too!)
MAKE A BACKUP!!!
DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
Go to install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Select cm-10-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-l0.zip
Confirm
Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps
Reboot
Now my first question I'd love some help with, is how do I perform this backup there talking about? do they just mean my simple go into settings and click backup? Or should I do it some otherway?
Second question: Do they mean the phones built in service of factory reset?
Third Question: To install a Zip from an SD card do I need to simply use ES file explorer, or root file browser? Or is there a custom way to install a Zip file on android?
Fourth and final Question: What is gapps..? Is this something I should get or use?
EDIT: I've got a fifth one also... Thanks to anyone who's stayed this long and is willing to help me.! Will this Cyanogen mod (If working) Work almost exactly like a real nexus Operating system? I've got a nexus 7 tablet running stock android, and I love it! That's why I'm doing this to my phone honestly.
Thank you all greatly!

Question 1,2 and 3.. they are all done through Clockworkmod. Look through the menus you'll see it if you still struggle look on YouTube.
Question 4.. gapps is Google Apps you need to flash this after the ROM to get the play store and all the other standard Google apps.
Question 5.. in your eyes pretty much, it'll look the same but with more features obviously.
Thank you alot!
Thanks! now i've only gotta do one last thing, and see if anyone knows whether or not this website is a reliable source, or atleast if the mod works...

I was just wondering if there's a chance this clock work mod thing doesn't work on my phone? I don't really know how, or where it is either... and I'd love some help with that... Thank you!
(Edit) I don't think there is a clockwork mod for my device... According to the Rom Manager app I was told to use for installing it.

If you did what it said in the instructions *root it, cwm, install custom rom* then after installing the custom rom it has it's own cwm. turn off the phone, turn in back home and press the back and home button together at the same time and it should take you to the rom's cwm. If the phone does a factory reset by pressing the back and home button then you did the installation wrong.
But just in case I'll setup a full instruction for you.
Root your phone.
Which can be done easily, just download this and extract the files: http://www.mediafire.com/?dhdbwflnl1vknx2
once you extract the files put your phone on debugging mode which can be done by going to settings, developer mode, and click usb debug.
once you've done that connect your phone to the pc *make sure it's on charge only* wait for driver installation to finish. once that's done click root. follow instructions on the screen it shouldn't be too hard! after following instructions you should be rooted and have cwm. but to install the recovery go to your apps and find lte 2nd init recovery and then click the top button, agree to super su to use it and you're done with rooting and cwm! now. these files you were talking about, download them and put them on sd which can be done with a file manager. after they've downloaded go to the lte 2nd init and click the bottom button. it will reboot the phone and take you to cwm. While you are in cwm click on the home button to go to external which is the sd, then go to backup and restore, and click backup! this is very important. miss this step and things could go bad. Now all you have to do is follow the instructions you posted yourself and you should be done! if you need any help don't hesitate to message me. I've done this for a long time now.
Whoops forgot to add. the website IS a reliable source. Learned that cause I'm a risk taker and decided to try it out myself. and do not use rom manager or anything like that for recovery. ever. especially on phones that do not have their own recovery mode. also. the CM10 works great in my opinion! But there's a catch. for me at least. even though everything is perfect during phone calls I cannot use my 4g. which is a bad thing for me cause I need it. other than that if that doesn't bother you or anything or don't have service then knock yourself out and install the cm10!
COMPLETED) This mod worked, all things are now finished except one small issue!
So after installing the mod with some great help of someone here on this forums, I've been basically beta testing the mod for a few days. I have nearly no complaints, as almost everything works seemlessly just like you'd except the operating system to. In the end I found one single issue though, which is terribly annoying for me in specific...
My GPS isn't working, which could be one of many things other than the rom. Seeing as I only recognized It yesterday, there may be an outside reason it at random shut off. If anyone know's what can cause this, and a fix for it please comment back!
Thanks to everyone who helped with installing the mod

Please help me with the rom
Hey guys not sure if i am suppose to post this here but i couldnt find any where else and i couldnt find an answer with my exact problem, i installed this rom on my moms lg motion and everything went find untill i got to gapps it came up with an error inside of cwm so i just contined all the other flashes i had to do and rebooted i thought that i could just flash gapps later. But i mad a very big booboo i installed the Recovery APK for it in cm 10 i forgot all about pressing reboot and saying reboot into revocovery so i was going to try it though the Recovery APK so i installed the thing and pressed reboot and instead of taking me into recovery it takes me to a screen that says something like "mourning call error" which i dont know what means but i had to take out the battery and turn the phone back on so that worked and i got back to the home screen but i still cant install gapps so she can use all the google sevices i tried rebooting with the built in reboot into recovery (the one that you press reboot when you hold the power button) and that does the same exact thing i have no way of flashing gapps or anything else for that matter can someone please help me i have no idea what to do. everything i working on the phone but that. thank you sorry if i put this in the wrong place.
Confused my droid using this method- would love in on this thread
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place-punch me if I have-
I rooted my lgms770 with version f firmware- installed cwm and 2ndinit recovery (2nd init was the only known way (to me anyway) to get into cwm at the time) followed this guide ---
[LgMotion All Things root] and
[GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ] - Android Forums
I am not allowed to post urls yet...sorry...its the the first google hit
I've tried multiple versions of the official LG Firmware flash, from the website, and by following this guide-
AOKP Dirty Unicorns baseless port cm10 - Android Forums Actually, its the unicorns that got me.
With no luck there. I am running Mint16, and had to run the programs through Wine of course, then tried Q4wine, and eventually tried running though Oracle VM, and finally, I wiped my ancient dell of Linux altogether and put WinXP back on it (took 2 hours, that). No cigar. And yes, I did the drivers, all in order, etc, tried again, reinstalled etc
I finally set up adb to try to get into this droid that way, but am having problems with port permissions (I'm going to guess that's on my pc's end-running Mint16)
I can access the factory reset screen (the black and white), download mode, and the battery charges on a black screen with a nice purple font, but I am still stuck in a bootloop. I've employed all known button spamming combos to get back into cwm (there is a nandroid in there somewhere)..but alas...
Help me Obi-Wan-Kenobi's..
Peach
I had the purple letters with no way to get to the factory reset screen i just used the lg online flash tool in upgrade recovery put in the imei of the phone in made sure the phone was in usb download mode then it was fixed but for some odd reason i still cant get my phone to the factory reset option. I apologize sincerely if I wasn't detailed enough if you need any clarification on it then let me know through pm or i could even send u a link to my box folder i keep the install files in.
(Also i have a one click root app for the LGMS770 So if you or anyone would like the link i would be happy to give it to you)

Hi guys, ITS done!
UPDATE: 8.5.2015
Today i found the last fastboot command to downgrade.
Now its possible to downgrade from .77 to the rootable versions .53 or .57.
After downgrade and root, its possible to save the su with the root ab and upgrade your device to the newest .77 version.
Thx to the creator of the rootzenfone app!
So everyone who was to fast with the upgrades, can now go back and root the ASUS ME581CL.
I try now to pack all data in an apk, so that everyone can use it without to type. :good:
UPDATE: 9.5.2015
I will post now the steps to downgrade because of guys who want faster the root.
Intelflashtool: https://mega.co.nz/#F!B1lCHKbQ!pHQkVqwBcD5gQkaKhjd1hA
1. Make a backup of your apps with the asus backup tool or adb backup.
2. Copy the firmware .53 or .57 from the asus site and put it on your sdcard.
Rename to MOFD_SDUPDATE. (Look at your SKU ww,tw)
3. Factory reset and boot to droidboot with adb reboot bootloader or vol+ and power button on offline device.
4. Now we are flash the following files:
a. fastboot flash token bom-token.bin
b. fastboot flash dnx dnx_fwr.bin
c. fastboot flash dnx dnx_osr.bin
d. fastboot flash dnx ifwi.bin
e. fastboot flash radio radio_firmware.bin
f. fastboot flash tlv update.tlv
5. Now push vol- button to the point „sd update“ and press the power button. Plug off USB. The device is in Intel SOC mode now with an offline screen. No panic.
The last file to start flashing is the correct droidboot, this will done in next point...
6. Open Intel phone flash tool and choose "custom flash". On upper left choose "systemblankphone"
and click the files we flashed before (radio and tlv not need). Inclusive fastboot.img.pos.bin and boot.img in the lines.
Check the box with on-demand flash mode and press "start flash."
7. Press vol+ and vol- at same time on the tablet and plug usb in your pc. Release the vol buttons and then flash starts. Now its a little bit tricky but you can not brick your device. After around 3 min plug off usb and stop the flash. Uncheck all and let only OS Image actice.
Start Intelphone flasher again with "start flash". After around 2 min plug off device again and stop the intel tool. Now its ready!
8. This point is not really relevant but i push the power button for 10 sec and plug in the usb. Now the tab is charging and the display switch on. Start device with power button and the downgrade to .53 or .57 is starting.
9. Install the root zenfone tool, activate airplane mode and start the root app. Now your tab is rootet on .53 or .57. Open root tool again and look if root keeper is active. So, now you can upgrade to the newer versions. but use only the OTA updates then your root is safe.
I tried many weeks and this methode is safe, works without problems. Asus ME581CL rooted, job is done!
Have fun!
ps. now i will work for a app that can backup and flash nandroid within android. First tests look good.
Thx

I managed it to root my Asus ME581C, firmware version KVT49L.WW_epad-11.8.2.58-20141021 with the Intel Atom Root Pack from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
First of all i enabled USB debugging in expert mode and copy the SuperSU Zip on the internal storage. Then i installed all USB drivers for Windows. At last i start the launch.bat from the root pack, first type "ACCEPT" in the shell window and then "T3". I got the temp CWM Recovery and flash the SuperSU Zip and restart my device. All runs well now.
But i have one question. My device say, there is a firmware update, and that my files are not get lost if i start the update. Did i have already superSU if i do the update? Did someone tested it?

Hello
You really rooted the Asus Memo Pad ME581C ?
Yep, i attached some pics.
SuperSU installed doesn't mean we gained root. Did you check it with root checker ? An application like titanium or adaway works?
Don't think I have a doubt in your world but till now nobody got root on ME581C (on the contrary ME572C). I receive mine at the end of this week and I'm really interested to root It. I cannot use anymore tab or phone without clean master, greenify, titanium and adaway.
sorry i can't help you
i am an new people
As you can see on the second Picture, i already installed Titanium Backup, and it works. Same with Apps like Lucky Patcher, Aptoide or AdFree. Works all like a charm
Ok, this is a good new, I receive my ME581C tomorrow or friday.
But where did you get the firmware version KVT49L.WW_epad-11.8.2.58-20141021 ?
you didn't update to WW-11.8.2.72 ?
i got my ME581C at the 8th of april. The manufacturing date on the packaging says 11/2014. I think i got a lucky shot with this device The device came with the firmware KVT49L.WW_epad-11.8.2.58-20141021.
I got mine last friday.
First thing I did, check firmware version. It's WW_epad-11.8.2.58-20141021 too.
I tried RootZenFone-1.4.6.8r and to my great surprise, it worked. So, for now, I'm in the same place as you, I don't know if I can update firmware without lost root.
If we can make a backup of system partition, we could reverse by recovery.
besides, tab is really nice and screen is large enough for everything. As comfortable as 10' for a tab size close to 7'. But I discovered some little problems:
- too large to be taken in one hand
- whites are not real white. It seems that colorimetry is too hot. I compared with ME572C which got real clean whites.
- speakers are not as good as ME572C, sound is flat.
On the contrary, the 7' screen of ME572C is too small for comics, games, etc ...
Funny thing, ME581C screen could enter into ME572C. That will be the perfect
root
Hi guys,
Sry for delay. Was busy with study and the new Smsung 920 and 925.
Root is no problem until firmware x.x.65 arrived.
My goal is to root the new firmware x.x.77.
What ive done now is flash the Asus down from the x.x.77 to the x.x.54.
The problem is that after the upgrade, root get lost.
I made a backup off all mmcbl partitions. I flashed all partitions without problems, so if the root is lost i can go back to the x.x.54 firmware.
Anyone know a solution to keep root after the update? Erase Asus the system partition with an upgrade?
So thats the problem su cant hide.
hi guys?
may i know how you guys downgrade your me581cl from .77 to .53?
i tried to use asus flashtools but it failed :crying:

Fine. I post all on the first post.
I think in max. 15min all is done.
But where is update.tlv? I cannot find it =(
Also on step 7 nothing happen and I have 1 unknowns device "MOOREFIELD"...
And finally it's bricked...no any reaction after step 6, only unknowns device "MOOREFIELD".
UPD: strange, but it works ))) Actually update.tlv not necessary. Trying to update via OTA
Nice to hear. I will look for the tlv. But not all files are needet to work, i posted all files what we can flash for the best compatility.
I tried many weeks now for a solution and "bricked" it many times. But i get it always back with this tool.
The main problem was the ifwi file. Without that, no downgrade is possible. And to flash this file, was also not possible.
But now it worked.
You can make a nandroid backup with twrp live or nandroid manager to keep a safe backup.
