My friend informed he had to factory reset his phone, but Verizon sent out an update to give the S4 the wifi toggle. Little annoyed no love for the S3 on that one.
Do you mean to turn wifi on and off with a toggle button?

Yeah, in the toggles with the rest of them. Now I still have a wifi toggle on my screen so no big deal. Just annoying how they take it out for no reason and then when the put it back in for the S4, they don't do it for the S3.

I was happy when I installed Cyanogenmod to find out that you could add the wifi button.

Perhaps it will be put in on the 4.3 update.

Hope this hasn't been asked yet but is there any widget or system setting to force the phone to use 2g? I'd like to keep my connection at work but avoid the drain of maintaining HSPA in a brick building.
Thanks.

Yup...turn it off or use WIFI
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
You're saying that the only options are on and off?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
HSPA is just like running 3g. But if you call *#*#6767*#*# then after that reboot your phone you should be good
Search market for "curvefish", grab their 2g/3g - on/off widget and download it.....add it as a widget to your home screen and you can easily toggle between 2g/3g...
Sent from my Samsung Infuse 4G
Power Options is also a good one. I have it and it acts as a double for the power control widget that comes stock with android. you can customize it as you like.
I use power widget so I can use the 2g/3g toggle and stay awake toggle and always on as well.
So has anyone actually tried these on their Infuse. The widgets just take you to the Network settings where AT&T has disabled the ability to turn off 3G. Any way to turn on this option with a rooted Infuse?
I didn't bother to reply but I have the same questions you do. The toggle is not 2G/3G but data on or off.

curvefish has a widget toggle for 2g/3g on/off and data on/off

@SSJ_Gomike,
Your signature shows you sent this reply from your Infuse. Have you tried that curvefish toggle? I have it installed and all it does it take you to the network settings where the 2g-3g setting has been disabled by AT&T. I have the setting on my Nexus One, so I know exactly where and what to look for. So far none of the suggestions work.
My battery life is suffering since the 3g signal is week at my office and it switches back and forth between Edge and 3G/faux G.
There are several posts for this I have web, going into an emulator and disabling hpsa, but why you want to. I can't see it would save much battery life. I've come to understand battery life on my phone is meant to go quickly.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I don't want to disable this permanently, just while I'm at work. Its not so much that edge would save battery, its the constant switching between edge and hsdpa that kills the battery. Even sitting on the same place on my desk, it will sit there and switch without me touching it. I have fairly strong 3G at home and in town. I was hoping to avoid going into debug menus to disable this functionality that's normally in a vanilla android ROM.

Does other Samsung Galaxy phones have the option to turn 3G on and off?
If they do not, how can ATT be at fault.
They allow it, on the iphone. I will go and say is a samsung thing.
Either AT&T being themselves or Samsung with their hands in the android settings. Because vanilla Android has the capability.

AT&T is known for disabling this capability on all their phones. When I used to use Nokias a lot, the ATT specific firmware did not allow you to change that setting either.
I just tried the *#*#4636#*#*, but for some reason it won't save the setting. Do I have to reboot for it to take effect? I didn't seen any way to confirm the change.
Anyone come up with a solution?
is there a way to add it? or change the other toggles?
I don't know why it doesn't in the normal toggle area, but considering it annoys you in the lower notification about it (and you can turn it on from there), you don't really need it in the normal toggle area (even though it'd be nicer to have it there).

First, let me start by saying how much I love liquids work and how great the ROM is. I understand there has been a ril fix implemented and have been running it for the past few days. I've noticed several occasions where data would drop and require a toggle to get it back. My question is whether this ril fix is in other AOSP ROMs and if others have noticed similar drops. Does it take a while for some phones to adjust or is it a network compatibility issue? Just wondering..

I've been running liquid as well but have never had to use a toggle to get data to turn back on. I know sometimes it'll drop from 4G to 3G but that's due to where i live. But the handoff is usually pretty quick for me, and i've never lost data completely and had to toggle it back on.
Just curious what radio are you using?

There is a leaked one, but im using LG7 and haven't had any issues what so ever. Did you try reflashing the rom?
I used and found this mod in the Sprints Galaxy S3 forum. I did not see this posted here so I wanted to share this. I take no credit for this. This was done by Freeza and by s3.Zeke.
What you have to do is use an app like root explorer and change the following lines in /system/csc/feature.xml
Edit the following:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>false</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
Change the "false" to true. Save the changes and exit.
Reboot your phone and now you can toggle if you want shutter sound in options.
Remember you have to reboot your phone or it will not show up.

An easier way, for me was:
Open Root Explorer
Navigate to System>media>audio>ui
Mount R/W
Scroll down to 'Shutter.ogg'
Rename to 'Shutter.ogg.bak'
Profit!
I've done this on both stock and Beans B14. I haven't tried it on AOSP, so the file structure may be different, but the idea is the same. (The file was called 'Camera_shutter.ogg' on the Thunderbolt.)

While this idea turns the sound off, you have to go through all the steps to change it every time. The OP's way allows you to toggle it on and off inside the camera's options. So you wouldn't need to go through all the steps every time you want to turn it on or off.

I installed the 'HE' ROM, and made the changes above.
The settings menu is not showing the sound toggle, although the device was rebooted and the 'true' value is confirmed.

That's crazy. So Verizon actually removed that option with the update? I can't even think of anyway that would benefit them. I can confirm the T-Mobile version still has it on the latest update. Bizarre.

Its not a matter of benefit its a matter of perverts taking pictures and video with no one knowing. Its actually illegal in some states to disable the sound due to these retards that cant get their own woman and have to take pictures and video home to their computers to wack it too.

Thanks for this, works great on MA2! Just a note, make sure you properly set permissions of the saved feature.xml file. ES typically created a backup of the original file, and doesn't properly set permissions on the new edit, and this mid won't work until you correct that.

It needs to run in foreground and all android apps supposed to run in foreground must use notifications (it's forced by the android compiler). Of course if you switch the notification off (in jb only) it doesn't affect the app in any way.
