Could anyone point me to a guide for the g2x on how to change this? I've been searching and I can't find anything that works on g2x. Running cm7 rc1 and Trinity kernel. Thanks!

Find a bootanimation.zip you like save it. Open root explore or the likes mount system as writable. Go to system then media erase bootanimation.zip and paste the one you want there. Pretty simple in the vibrant section under theming there is a how to on making boot animations.

I think he's asking for the splash screen (LG logo). The boot animation is different from the splash screen. It's the graphic image before the boot animation.

Yeah that's what I'm looking for... I can change the boot animation, no problem. Its just the splash screen that comes up before the animation that I'm looking to change

Unless I'm mistaken, that would be a function of the BIOS, so if anything could change out the kernel would.
But I have no experience with this particular thing, it's just my gut instinct.

Does anyone have any further information on this? I would really like to be able to change this, my parents and I like the Trinity kernels... until my parents noticed the "666 morfic" on the bottom of the splash screen lol

I NEED HELP!!
Hi i just tried this using the guide above, after step 11 i heard linda come on and say 4 minutes remaining, then after it said two minutes remaing in operation and then the phone went blank and restarted i guess?
the samsung galaxy 4g screen came on and then a static screen with different colors...it stays on that screen for a little bit then turns off and goes back to samsung galaxy 4g screen and then back to the static screen. then it does shuts down and repeats the above.
idk if i did anything or how to stop this...im actually sitting by RIGHT NOW, any kind of help would be appreciated. THX!
---------- Post added at 05:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:08 AM ----------
now i Took the battery out after a while of the phone doing that. and restarted it. it goes to the samsung galaxy 4 g screen then the static screen and goes blank (black) but its still on because if i hit the home key the lights on the bottom light up.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP
ps. my phone was rooted.
You did something wrong but as long as you can get into download you should be fine

Sounds like you have some bad bootloaders. Follow the GB starter pack link in my signature and you should get on gingerbread.
Hey i tried the link in your signature and i followed it properly.
but somehow I am still stuck!!
i used Darky's rom 10.2 extreme edition or something (if there is a different better one and one that is more compatible PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!)
now after step 12, i rebooted and I am stuck at this screen loop:
samsung galaxy 4g t-mobile screen then it flashes to Galaxy S powered by darky's rom screen and then shuts off then again Samsung galaxy 4 g t-mobile screen and keeps looping back
PLEASE HELP ONE MORE TIME PLEASE!
Sounds like you flashed a ROM that wasn't intended for the SGH-T959V. Vibrant/Galaxy S roms won't work on the Galaxy S 4G. I recommend you find a ROM from these forums and flash that.
if you could post a link to a great rom, either the one you are using or one you think is really good, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT!
and another thing, once i find a rom from these forums, all i do is just repeat the steps from your link ONE MORE TIME!?
the development forum is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1068
pick one of the gingerbread roms from there. the newest gingerbread roms are based on KH1 or KH2. KG4 and KG6 will also work, but they are a little bit older.
hey i did everything over again, i used audiophile rom
after the step 12 according to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
i hit reboot, the phone keeps opening up to CWM Vood lagfix recovery
how do i get past this?
Are you hitting reboot recovery by mistake?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
no i keep hitting reboot system now
then i tried the power off button and still nothing..same thing..back to voodoo lagfix
That's an odd one. Maybe try taking the SD card out then reboot. I'm sure someone more advanced will have a good solid answer.

mann ima try that real quick.
i need help, so if someone could maybe help out..
im appreciating the feedback im getting so far..thx!

I was able to find some work done on the S3 before it was unlocked but can't find anything current for the S3 and dual booting. Has anyone made any progress or is anyone working on it? There are so many awesome roms out there but it's nice to have a daily driver and a slot(s) for test roms.
Boot Manager is an incredible app that I bought when I had the Nexus. Unfortunately, it seems development is dead.

Boot Manager allows multiple roms to boot from the sd card. It works for the Nexus just wasn't updated for the S3. Seems like an experienced developer could write an app or recovery that allows roms to install and run from sd card. If locked Moto phones can do it (Safestrap), surely ours can.

Moto's rom storage location is different than ours, the entire internal or at least most of the internal is able to be written on using safe strap. And besides, restoring a nandroid backup takes the same amount of time as safe strap does to transfer the data between the 2 partitioned rom's.

You got me there. I'd throw out BootMenu but we don't have a Webtop partition, so I know that'd be shot down.
So our only hope (app wise) at this point is Boot Manager? The app description says the only Samsung phone it works on is the Nexus. Anyone know what's different about it compared to the S3 (in terms of boot partition)?
Here's a link to some Vzw S3 dual boot development but there hasn't been any activity in it since late July - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774795.

Former Boot Manager Addict in Recovery
Honestly, when i had my DX, i was a boot manager addict! you couldn't tell me there was anything wrong with it.
however...
used to have leeeetle minor bugs i had to live with due to how Boot Manager worked. and flashing themes was a pain in the A$$
today i'm in recovery, but still a flash-aholic. all i do now is just flash a rom, get it just how i like it, make a nandroid of it, and can flash back and forth all day.
tired of Synergy, flash TWRP, click on restore, and walla, i've got Paranoid Android up and running... tired of that, and next its Beans Custome Rom 11, and so forth. only annoying thing is that when you add to it after you make a nandroid, and dont upgrade, then you have to go back and add the changes.
but trust an old addict, this is waaaaaay better, and not much slower than Boot Manager!

I agree that backup/restoring isn't THAT bad but I just miss being able to boot to random roms without much hassle. I had 6 current roms on my Nexus. With BootMenu (not to be confused with Boot Manager) on my Maxx, changing between system 1 (phone rom) and system 2 (webtop rom) was literally as fast as rebooting. Just reboot and a menu came up to boot 1st, 2nd, or recovery.
I'm not complaining about my S3 by any means (best phone I've had to date) I just feel pretty sure it IS possible to dual (or multi) boot if some one with the knowledge took the challenge. Quad core, NFC, battery changeable, 4.8" screen, fully functional Jelly Beanable, LTE piece of hardware booting CM, AOPK, MIUI, TW, AOSP, [you name it] with the click of a button. Gets me excited just thinking about it. Wish I know enough to take the project on myself.

BootManager will not work with Samsung devices that are not listed because of the way Samsung handles the boot partition.

I pointed that out on the last page. Do you know WHAT is different about the boot partition that it only works on the G'Nex and no other Sammy phones? I entered my device in manually in Boot Manager just to see if it'd work but it couldn't back up my phone rom (because of boot image).
Unless something is incredibly special about the G'Nex, perhaps the app could be adapted for other Sammys.

Update: This issue has been resolved in CyanogenMod 11. As of now, there is no 'official' CM 11 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P3100, GT-P3110, or GT-P3113), but CodyF86 has a great build of it here. Anyway, here is the commit: (http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/56562/3)
Hey Guys,
Let me first start off by saying this problem in no way effects overall performance and operation of my device. With that being said, this problem is just more of a cosmetic issue with CyanogenMod and the OCD I have towards it. Right after CyanogenMod upgraded from the 10 to 10.1 builds, the boot logo changed from landscape to portrait. What happened with my device (Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3113) is slightly odd. The boot logo for CyanogenMod is now stuck in the upper right corner of the screen and appears squished. As I said before, this DOES NOT impact device operation, so if you have another thread to watch, I suggest you do that. But if you are inclined to help me fix this problem, please note that I have already done the following:
Flashed device to stock ROM using ODIN
Re-rooted the device using the auto root tool for this device
Flashed CWM Recovery latest version (Touch) using ODIN
Re-installed the latest version of CyanogenMod 10.1 Stable
There is an image of the issue attached to this post below if you are interested.
Thank you for your support!

Same problem here, only on my device it changes after about 5 seconds to normal. Already looked into this and, as far as I could find, there is no solution yet.
its common problem we all get that
Same here.
I rarely reboot the device and it doesn't seem to actually affect the device, so I just ignore it.

LET'S not ignore this bug, as this is not supposed to happen. If anybody else has this issue, please raise your hand and post it here. This has been going for a loong while and needs to be fixed.
Hey there is a way to get rid of it.
Please follow the instructions
1. Get the latest phillz recovery. Install it using ur present recovery.
2. Get the latest black hawk next kernel v1.8.3. Flash the zip file.
3. Get the vendor blobs (not necessary cuz the latest nightlies have them preinstalled)
4. Go to /system/buildprop file n change rf. so .hwrotation=270 to rf. so
.hwrotation=0
5. Reboot the device.
Press thanks if I helped.

*EDIT: The screen is screwed up now. It's taking portrait touch responses instead of landscape ones, and the screen does not rotate.
I can confirm this works in landscape mode, but isn't portrait the intended orientation?
No I changed the settings wanting it to be in landscape mode cuz i use tablet ui n it makes my tab look better. Need to work around a way for portrait mode.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
Yes, but the touch screen reverses the input of my finger and rotates the screen opposite and to the left of the way I'm holding it. You have no idea how hard it was to restore the build.prop when you need to use a broken UI to enable USB debugging. Ugh..
OK but I have no such issues, been running it smoothly since a week.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
I have it aswell!
I have this same issue, not only with the rom, but ALL of them.
Report to CyanogenMod Developers?
Someone should forward this thread to the CM dev team. Maybe then, and only then will it be fixed.
i think all of the tab2 which use CM rom have the same problem, my tab2 p3110 too...
hope someone of the CM devteam can fix it

I believe it is only a problem with the 7" models of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablets.

I've tried to install black hawk next kernel, and my p3110 was stucked at the Boot Logo..
I must flash phillz recovery first? I'm using the CWM recovery.
The problem is there in almost every ROM except for AOSPA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168670 . If we can just find whats the difference?

Well, i've been searching a while for those two, but i just found the animation:

My doubt is that, does someone has a boot logo with only the google text, that fits and stays in the same place like the animation?
Or someone knows how to do it?
(Yes, i'm still in stock and i don't know if i'd change to GPE ROM).

Yeah, easy. I'll make a boot logo with the google text in the same place; and/or I'll find one.
Actually, you don't need to do that. In the bootanimation, just flash this image as a bootlogo, should work fine.
