Could anyone point me to a guide for the g2x on how to change this? I've been searching and I can't find anything that works on g2x. Running cm7 rc1 and Trinity kernel. Thanks!

Find a bootanimation.zip you like save it. Open root explore or the likes mount system as writable. Go to system then media erase bootanimation.zip and paste the one you want there. Pretty simple in the vibrant section under theming there is a how to on making boot animations.

I think he's asking for the splash screen (LG logo). The boot animation is different from the splash screen. It's the graphic image before the boot animation.

Yeah that's what I'm looking for... I can change the boot animation, no problem. Its just the splash screen that comes up before the animation that I'm looking to change

Unless I'm mistaken, that would be a function of the BIOS, so if anything could change out the kernel would.
But I have no experience with this particular thing, it's just my gut instinct.

Does anyone have any further information on this? I would really like to be able to change this, my parents and I like the Trinity kernels... until my parents noticed the "666 morfic" on the bottom of the splash screen lol

I've been searching for a while but I can't seem to come across how to change the splash screen or how to(if you have to) unlock the SPL and where to drop the .rgb565 file. I've had custom boot animation I made for a while but I'd like a to put a matching splash to go with it. I have found a thread for the touch but that doesn't help me. Thanks for any help.

the splash is the htc screen correct? and i would greatly appreciate this to
Yes I have pretty much customized south paw(excellent ROM BTW) the way I want it except for this. But then again, the SPL is more tricky than just flashing roms and additional roms.

So i have a rooted Samsung Continuum, And i want to change my boot screen and since i dont have a recovery option right now i cant flash anything.
So i have to place the boot animation zip on the phone, Well heres the problem i cant find where im suppose to place the file?? Any help would be great.
Yeah, i tried doing the same...
But i learned the hard way that you need to have a kernel installed on your phone that supports changing the bootscreen.. Which continuum users do not have yet.. What we need is Clockwork, which there is development going on to get it So, soon
Ahh ok
Looking around i did find bootsamsung.qmg
and bootsamsungloop.qmg
No idea what those are lol.
Its coming tomorrow a pre-rooted, init.d supporting, custom boot animation packin' 2.1update1 kernel with ext4 AND rfs support. (;

NERDGASM!!!! XD Could you please not tease us!!!!!!!??????? lol that is AWESOME!
Just looking at the /system dump files, they are .qmg files. Which I know nothing about, I was also hoping it was just a .zip file in the system media folder. I guess if you find a way to read the .qmg file, and create a new one once you dissect the old one.
Just woundering when a new phone comes out how long does it normally take for modes to start poping up I am new to the Droid phones and was just woundering

Well not many people have this phone so there isnt much right now, There is a dev getting one of these phones so hopefully in a couple weeks maybe longer we should have some cool stuff.
Just a matter of waiting.

Well, the Continuum has been very odd about that... Most phones that are going to get pretty big communities, get them pretty quickly. It really is just a matter of being patient and not having devs rush things.
Thank you you all know your stuff

Anybody ever change their boot animation? Or can help change mine?
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA Premium App
Here is the Nexus s boot animation. It will work with any rom or kernel. Has your favorite kernel or rom change your boot animation well just down load this and flash using clockwork and youll have the stock boot animation back. Alternatively you can unpack the zip and copy bootanimation.zip over to the system/media folder on your phone.

I'll never quite understand why, but it's always bothered me having a different boot screen.. Thank you

Isn't there a way to just restore it? I thought I remember reading on here that you can override a kernel boot animation with whatever one the rom came with... be it stock, cm7, etc.
There is and i have just figured it out with upload the file in a minute

Michael, these are the universal zips I sent u right?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yes the first one is the zip you sent me its 3.5 cfs
The second one does not include your kernal it's just an installer package I created to reinstall the stock bootanimation.zip which I pulled from my nandroid backup. You can read through the update script in the zip and see for yourself

No problem lol. I figured that others may what the same thing. After recieving your zips i realized they did not contain the stock boot animation so i was still stuck with the matriz animation till i reinstalled the stock boot animation which i pulled from my nandroid backup. Then i decided to make an install package for it so it could be used on any phone kernel or rom. if you would like to you can post a link to my second download so others can change if they want.
Cool ty

I think this will be the first custom Kernel to test on my NS
im loving this kernel, but is it possible in future versions to use cm7 built in oc controls instead of setcpu. netarchy kernel is able to use the build in cm7 controls and its nice not having to use an extra app, other than that great work!
I remembered the stupid easy way I was thinking about yesterday. I remembered after reading something that the boot animation is is /system/media. All I did was copy the animation I wanted (in my case the CM7, now using the 3D CM7 one I JUST found) and copied it over the bootanimation.zip that was currently residing in said folder.
Bam, back to stock or whatever boot animation without flashing anything
yes you can do that to. using root explorer. or you can even use adb if you want. the file resides in system/media/bootanimation.zip

I remember back on the mt4g forums they had a thread going that users could flash a .zip file and change their splash screen(very first screen that pops up on boot) Now i'm just wondering if anyone on here knows how to make these flashable zips on the g2x, or would it be possible to use the ones on the mt4g section for our device as well?
I remember when I was able to do that with my MT3G, had so much fun with that capability, that was one of my things to make my iPhone friends jealous... I always stuck with a custom one that I made saying NOFTCHX with a red slash through one LOVED it.
I had a similar thread when the G2x first came out, here's where it lead me.
I found a way to change it but don't remember the file name. If you look in the trinity kernel zip its in there though. Its not wireless.ko, boot.img or bootanimation.zip. I want to say its named boot something though. And I don't think it involves messing with the kernel itself. However I don't remember for sure been a while.

It would be pretty awesome if you wouldn't mind to look into it a bit more. I would love to have the Nexus One's Splash Screen.

Well, i've been searching a while for those two, but i just found the animation:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-wFNQ0mATuvcTBzTEFldGZmUFE/edit?usp=docslist_api
My doubt is that, does someone has a boot logo with only the google text, that fits and stays in the same place like the animation?
Or someone knows how to do it?
(Yes, i'm still in stock and i don't know if i'd change to GPE ROM).

Yeah, easy. I'll make a boot logo with the google text in the same place; and/or I'll find one.
Actually, you don't need to do that. In the bootanimation, just flash this image as a bootlogo, should work fine.
