Unlocking the bootloader on XT925 - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I want to unlock my bootloader and install custom roms, but someone told me that if I unlock the XT925 bootloader I would not receive anymore future OTA Updates, It let me wondering how truth is this? I've search throughout the internet but there is not much about this matter with my phone.

If your BL is unlocked, you can still take updates. However, the charm of having an unlocked bootloader is being able to flash the updates, after the DEVs get them and tweak them. One thing, though, if you're on the latest update already, you can't unlock the BL.

i thought the patch only applied to the 926, i thought the international version could still be unlocked. i could be wrong!
here it the moto page to see if yours can still be unlocked and how to do it if it can https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b or you could just try the unlock exploit found in these forums.

If by lastest update you refer to jb 4.3 then no, this phone only gets jb 4.1.2 so far.

I try to unlock the bootloader but recieves this message during the procedure to get an unlock key: "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking."
This is the european version of Motorola Razr HD (xt925), bought from eXpansys. What do I do now? Follow the instructions at Cyanogenmods website instead?

Try using the exploit from one of the tools on here.

Probably. I think I'm gonna go with Mr.Parkinsons DroidHD Utility 2.0.
But it's just weird when it obviously should be working. Motorola...

If you have an XT925 you unlock through moto no matter which version of firmware you have. If you have an XT926 you use the exploit on whichever version it worked on.

OTA after bootloader unlock

Didn't know whether this should be Q&A or General so posted in both.
I am wondering will it be possible to get JB official OTA update after unlocking bootloader.
I have CWM on device and want to know if I will be able to get update.
NO ROOT.
If not what steps do I take to get JB update when it is available.
You need to relock. Search the forum, there are at least 2 different ways.

[Q] Any way to go back to previous firmware?

Hello.
I recently updated my HTC ONE XL to 4.1.1. I have never rooted/flashed my phone so it was all done standard through Telstra.
I want to revert to the previous firmware, if I have to erase all my data then so be it (even though I don't want to). Reason being is, my WiFi quit working (I sort of fixed it), my videos won't play half the time & the phone feels WAY more clunky now.
Maybe it's time I learn about flashing/rooting?
Thanks!
If you are bootloader unlocked you can flash any firmware meant for our device.
If you aren't BL unlocked, you cannot revert to an older firmware by official means.

Well only on 3.17x roms until patches are posted for Telstra users

Can't check for software update after relocked bootloader

I unlocked , installed custom on my phone, then I relocked my bootloader and flash stock att2.20 by running ruu.exe. now, everytime I checked for software update, it always says service unavailable. Do you guys know anything about this problem? Btw, my phone is unlocked and use T-Mobile.

You realize you can't update a stock AT&T device via T-Mobile, even if you're using a T-Mobile sim card?

It always puzzles me why do people on custom ROMs want to get OTAs?
AT&T JB isn't rolling out yet. When it does, it will get posted in Development in a TWRP-flashable rooted form.
I also doubt the OTA will feature much (if anything) that is not already present in the JB Sense ROMs already up in Development, plus all of AT&T's bloatware crap and other meddling. Possibly including a new hboot that will mess up even more stuff this time.

[Q] One Stupid Question!!!

Got RAZR HD few days back.
Currently I've 9.8.2Q-50-XT925_VQLM-21 and wants to flash 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQUL-16 (Retail Germany).

I am on latest system version 183.46.15.XT926, with locked bootloader. I have rooted my phone using Hydrogen Peroxide method. Can i install Safestrap? I heard its recovery for locked bootloader. Will it be safe installing Safestrap and installing custom rom? I want to install Safestrap v3.75 and CyanogenMod 12. Anyone tried this ? http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_spyder

What you have posted is not for this phone model. Do not attempt to use it or you will brick it.
So, the latest .15 firmware can now be rooted? But the bootloader unlock exploit is still patched and it cannot be unlocked? In that case, I'd suggest using Xposed to mod the stock firmware to suit you better. Not much more to it.
Okay. So i cant install safestrap?

...and having people continually asking isn't going to open that hole.
