Will there be a specific date on when the 4,1,1 (OTA) fix will come in so you can use the AOSP ROMS? or will we just have to wait and see.
(I OTA updated before knowing of rooting, so don't tell me its a no no and stuff )

When kernel source is released
My guess is another two months at least on the kernel. No clue on if or when a fix will ever be released for the jb ota'ers sorry

I'm just guessing I know nothing about the new firmware and hboot from the jb ota. Another guess is once the flood of at&t ota people comes rushing in like a tsunami a solution may pop up shortly after.

From what I understand they have 90 days to release kernel source after releasing the kernel so we're looking at around 3 months. I'm in the same boat as you bud. Updated without realizing the downside and I much prefer aokp to sense. Until then I'm using viper 3.1.0 desensed with nova. I even went as far as to downgrade my hboot to see if I could flash aokp after with no difference.

Damn, I was just going to suggest that and see if it works i guess not. Couldn't we just downgrade to the ICS build by downgrading our hboot then flashing the 2.40 RUU?

Well actually nvm the 2.40 RUU isn't leaked yet i think so couldn't you downgrade to 1.09 and then Flash HK 2.42 RUU which is basically the same?

They DO NOT have 90 days. GPL clearly states it must be provided immediately when the accompanying software is available or before. HTC is in violation of the GPL. They are only allowed time to make it available for distribution. They think that this allows them to hold it back indefinitely while in reality it means time to upload and should always be available within 24 hours of the Rom being released to the public. This is not open to interpretation according to the GPL and any lawyer who has looked at it. Gpl-violations.org is a good place to file a complaint as well as HTC's legal department. This really needs some attention considering they routinely wipe their ass with a legally binding agreement that does not allow delaying kernel source at all.

Somewhat of a noob question, but I'm assuming AOKP ROMs also wouldn't work if I stupidly applied the 4.1.1 OTA update?

Yep only jb sense... And once kernel source is out it will be fixed so be assured and I thought they had 90 days? If they were in violation oh well but I could of sworn they had 90 days to do it either way until they become a dev friendlier community you have to wait at least 90 days for source

im just thinking of getting the nexus 4
So I applied this OTA update (flashed the stock recovery first), then re-flashed TWRP. Now, I can't for the life of me get the phone rooted again. I tried several different supersu apks, some older, some newer. SuperSU itself can't install, can't uninstall, can't update its binaries. Different supersu's allow SuperSU itself root access, but no other programs can be given root access (such as Titanium Backup).
Any ideas? I'm about to get rid of this phone, HTC is just making modding so painful. My fault I know for installing the OTA update, but still...

The 4.1.1 OTA ruins basically everything -.-
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4182 . This is a upgrade through kies for ICS. Same current baseband as we have now, but there saying it offers security improvements. Hopefully this is a small upgrade before Jelly Bean. If and when that happened we could update our blobs and most certainly run any AOSP 4.2.2 Rom.:good::fingers-crossed:

I don't see why not. The Blaze was released in March of 2012. The T989 also a Tmobile branded phone is running Jelly Bean and its older than our model. Presumably based on little differences and what nots it only makes sense for them to give the update. They are still marketing and selling the device so, yeah.(Hopefully)

And if ever there was an excuse to update tweaked... here it is lol. Methinks this will be some work.

Yep, shouldn't be an issue - I'll check again tonight, and like I said if no one else gets to it by the time I get my hands on it I'll post some stuff.
If I'm reading this right, the update to the new baseband is OTA if you are running non-rooted UVLH5 stock. There's nothing on samfirmware.com for this update to be available via KIES, so I would think that it's just OTA - that and it's only a 20 MB download. I'm going to go back to stock to see if this is OTA only and post my findings...
Nope. No OTA or KIES update available for me.

My interpretation of the T-Mobile info was that it was either - but you are right that it's not available via KIES currently so I could be wrong lol! No OTA has been pushed to the wifes phone yet, but that doesn't mean much for others of course.

Finally, I was starting to wonder...
Im trying to update my TF300T to a jellybean rom and im a bit confused. im currently an AOSP ICS rom from when i first rooted this tablet but since i havent messed with it since them im a bit lost. i updated TWRP to the latest ics one and i tried installing Paranoid android and it just bootlooped. Luckily i backuped my rom. So can anyone point me in the right direction please? any help would be appreciated
First of all, since you're apparently both unlocked and still on the ICS bootloader, take some time to go through the NVFlash process here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894867
That will come in handy if you accidentally flash the wrong recovery later on (or do anything else that could brick your tablet). I'm sure you've seen the many "I bricked my TF300T" threads, so do yourself a favor, and do the NVFlash backup.
Now, once you've gotten the NVFlash out of the way (it's extremely important that you do the NVFlash backups first, because you can't go back and do them later), we can upgrade you to Jellybean. The easiest way, IMO, is to boot your tablet into fastboot, and flash the stock ASUS firmware (specifically, the first version of 10.x) that way. If you search the forum for "fastboot stock firmware", you should find at least a couple good guides on how to do that.
Once you're on the stock firmware, you can just update via the OTA method. Download the firmware you need (I suggest doing this incrementally, so get each individual update), unzip it, and put the resulting zip file on the root of either your external SD card or the internal storage (doesn't matter). If the tablet doesn't notify you of an update, just reboot. When you get the update notification, accept it, and it'll flash like a normal OTA. Just do this until you're up to date.
Keep in mind, if you go up to the 10.6.x.x firmware (Android 4.2), your only AOSP option will be a mostly-but-not-completely functional CM10.1. So, you may want to stay on the newest 4.1 firmware (10.4.2.20, I believe) until all the issues are ironed out.

Almost every AOSP ROM, including the official CM10.1, requires the 4.1 bootloader. They are stable. The CM for the 4.2 bootloader is in testing stages still, but I believe that the only thing that's broken now is the camera. Regardless, stick to the 4.1 OTA for now if you want a wide selection of AOSP ROMs.

CM11 is 4.4. To update to 4.4, just do the same thing you did to get CM10. EXCEPT, you need to update your recovery (in the op of the CM11 thread) and the newest gapps (also in op of cm11). Official as in from Moto, yes, you are right. But there are official CM10.2 builds out there.
since the op doesnt seem to want to weigh in on exactly what or why he wanted that particular build, this debate is more or less pointless.
there is no "official" 4.3, so rick is correct.
but there is a official cm 4.3 so palm is correct.
stock is stock, generally referred to as official.
a custom rom is a custom rom, official only means it was made by the cm team, nothing more, and should not be confused with an official rom as made by the manufacturer.
everybody is right, end of story
