It should support many types of LTE across the globe as the nexus 5 runs a snapdragon processor.

I was wondering if the web would let you choose which model you buy...because I am from Spain, but I am studying for a year in the United States and I am interested in this smartphone...But American and European LTE have different frequency...So I would like to buy that smartphone so that I have it for several years...and LTE is starting to be important...
Thank you

Hi All,
I have a question regarding use of my HTC One XL in South Korea. I am currently working in Singapore and have been using LTE service (Singtel). I will be leaving to work in Korea shortly.
Now from the link in Wikipedia (....wiki/List_of_LTE_networks), i understand that Singtel and Korean LTE providers (KT, SK) use the same LTE band (Band 3, 1800 MHz). But it think there is more to eye then just same band.
Can any fellow XDAian kindly guide me if this same device will be compatible in Korean LTE providers?
I will be very thankful for your help and suggestions.
Good Day.

I cannot say much about LTE but I can confirm 3G and that they do carry the Evo which should have the same LTE frequencies.

Kinda off topic, but what will you be doing in Korea?

Hello all,
I want to get the N5. However, as I stay in Singapore, I would need to get it from other countries as there are no confirm release date in Singapore.
Just like to check, does the N5 sold in Amazon works in Singapore?
Thanks!

Hi, from SG too.
US version only works on 2G. (Yes, no 3g due to our 2100 Mhz)
I'm considering getting UK version but it will cost a BOMB.
UK version have at least LTE network, sadly no 3g too. So, its either LTE / 2G

I am considering getting the Japan set. Heard that it might work. Todayonline state that it will come to singapore on late nov while HWZ say that it wont come.
I don't know which is a credible source...
I'd say neither. Lol.
Anyway US set N5 has working 3G what.. Just no LTE... If not then all those importing US set N5 pay for nothing..
Japan set is D821 ie international version so yes it will work

Have you try contacting theopensurface? Local store that carries all google stuff and they already started selling Nexus 5 last week (both US and International version are available)
I'm using my N5 now and I do have 3G. Korean set.

Well. US Google play didn't state 2100 MHz frequency which is needed for our local 3g band

The us model has 2100mhz its a wcdma band

Hi,
Looking for some advice. I've recently purchased a British Google Nexus 5 from Google Play. However I plan to move to Canada shortly.
-> Would the lack of support for LTE band 4 on the D821 model result in any problems in Canada? (I was hoping to join either Koodo or Virgin mobile on 4G).
Much appreciated

Rogers runs on 2600mhz as well. And Bell has 2600mhz in some markets.

Ok thanks.
Looks like Bell (and companies using their network) don't have 2600mhz in Ottawa so that's out.
Do you know if Fido has access to Roger's 2600mhz network around the Ottawa region? (I'm trying to find a month by month contract)
I might be better off returning my current Nexus :/
Rogers claims that their 2600mhz is available in all LTE markets. Fido uses the Rogers network so it will have the same reception as Rogers.

My current phone can't work in Europe which apparently uses a different system than in the US. Will the nexus 5 work in Europe?
If you buy a nexus 5 from the US you cannot get 4G/LTE in Europe. If you buy a nexus 5 from anywhere it is sold through Google play that is not the US/Canada you will get 4G/LTE. 3G works as per normal.

As above.... everything except LTE will work if using a D820 in Europe torvalds D821 in US /Canada

What are D820 and torvalds D821?
They are the 2 models of Nexus 5 available, D820 for US and Canada, D821 for the rest of the World

hahah. You know you're a geek when your auto correct knows the name "Torvalds". I was trying to type "or a"
There is no way to have D820 working on Europe LTE ?

No because LTE uses a different frequency in europe
Yo, Brainiacs. Are you aware that Europe is not a single country ?
There are like dozen different LTE frequencies there.

Which country are we talking here about specifically ?

yop Brainiac, can't you see that all european countries use bands 3, 7 and 20 ?
So the country doesn't matter
Is this setting set in stone in the hardware, or will devs be able to hack the phone's radio firmware to get band 3/7/20 support? I don't need CDMA.

Care to explain a little bit more detailed about the hardware difference between 820 and 821, if you know?
I am just curious about what did they change that much.
If as expected, the US variant of the s7 comes with the snapdragon, and the European version with Exynos, will it be possible to use the unlocked us version in europe with a uk sim card?
I only ask because I'm thinking of getting one, however I'm not really interested in the exynos due to the inability to create AOSP roms for it
Thanks.
I really hoped it would work.
Depends on the source. It'll have to be GSM to be used in Europe. So you'll have to buy either the international, AT&T, or T Mobile variants I would guess

Actually Verizon could be an option too. We have to see complete specs of each variant but many times Verizon phones have most LTE bands. On the other side Tmobile phones usually come with unlocked bootloader.
Yeah. Too soon to know fully at this stage. Ah the waiting game.
To be fair, a lot of times in the past they've release the snapdragon variant in the UK as well, but you could still always get the Exynos versions imported by shops on eBay for the same price pretty much.

Anyone got any updates for this? Confirmed that only the US gets snapdragon and that's the one I want.
If it helps, o2 in the uk uses:
900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
1,800 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+ 3G
2,100 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+ 3G
800 MHz LTE 4G
Also, does it matter if the verizon one comes with a locked bootloader? Can't it just be unlocked?
any news on the Snapdragon variant? I really hope it's not US Exclusive as i am not a fan of Exynos.
Check your info. UK is getting Snapdragons

Incorrect. I saw an unboxing video of a UK model and the box said Octa Core on it. Definitely Exynos in the UK.
USA and China only territories to get S820.
UK is getting Exynoss, this has been verified. Early reports said it would get SD820 but those were corrected by Samsung and retail partners.
