It looks like March 3rd/4th is the next rumored drop date for the TB. BGR is reporting an insider at VZW was at an event held last night with TB launch details etc.

I saw that in the Android Central forums, it's quite possible. If the date holds I can hold on another week. Of course it'd be nice for Verizon to say something.
I actually beleive this may really be the date, Im kind of relieved..
My local Verizon corp. store took down all their TB signs. They are only flying the iP4 signs now. There for a while the walls were plastered with TB ads and signs.
Which "MARCH MADNESS" are we going to watch the NCAA BASKETBALL or the VERIZON /HTC Thunderbolt madness ???????
It might be even later if they can't get the FW more stable. It looks like they are going to just release the device and then push a couple OTA after release.
I've had the Incredible since May of 2010(one of the lucky ones) and am amazed at the recent rom development for this phone. I am also eligible for an upgrade as I am the primary line account.
That being said, I am excited for the Thunderbolt; but I can wait for the release. Chances are Verizon may lower the price after 30 days or so, depending on how well its received.

Yeah , having my Inc and a good rom makes the wait easier. Still want the Tbolt soon.

I must have missed that info. Has anyone with credibility actually stated that, or is that just another rumor being thrown around? I would assume if they already shipped out plenty of units, the FW would be plenty stable.
Would you please post a link to the source of that concern.

I work for Qualcomm, and the device went gold since January. The Network is being fine tuned to handle the LTE devices, and iPhone traffic, but the firmware is not the reason. There were numerous tentative release dates, but Verizon publically stated 1Q. Iphone 4 was the first priority, but that's my opinion.
Ok guys so I might not seem "reputable" Ive always been more of an observer of the forums..instead of putting my 2cents in about everything..yes I work for a T-Mobile authorized dealer for the past 3yrs..4yrs @ Verizon b4 this.. every so often LG/Samsung/Nokia reps stop in.. today it was LG who I haven't seen since the g2x launch.. obviously I asked questions.. he told me that the g2x was written w/code for 2.3 to be updated soon after release.. the problem was the code was written wrong..and thats why the phone reboots..because it thinks theres an update so it shuts down..and it took an extremely long time to find where the problem was and write proper code.. they didn't want to take the chance of releasing an update without being 100% sure, obviously consumers wouldn't be happy with a faulty update..he continued to say it is absolutely a software issue..he also said the update will be in two parts.. the 1st is a software patch to fix the reboot issue and the 2nd is gingerbread. He took down my email address so he can send me the update when he gets it next week..so that way reps can test it out and start pushing it in stores.. in my opinion I don't see the update coming in the next few weeks to customers if an LG reps g2x isn't even updated yet..and is barely starting to roll out for reps to test out.. sorry for the long post..and once again..DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER! The only ones I trust less than CSR (as they are just telling all of us what they are told to say) is reps.... sorry just like salesmen if there mouths are moving they are lying.
Just putting this out there...I talked to the lawyer from the class action lawsuit. Its very legit. With that hitting Tmobile/LG if there ever was a real update(and I don't think there was) I bet it is now going to be even slower getting to us.

I am rep for technical care and I am currently testing the 2.3 rom on my personal G2X. From what I can tell so far, it is pretty much in the same state + some stability improvements that came with the leaked rom a couple months ago.
Hopefully this update won't mess up with my non-reboot G2x.
Seems like baseband patch first and OS the next.

actually this makes sense.
1) people who have said their phones said there was an update after phone rebooted .. this has been mentioned several times so that part makes sense.
2) you are the second person from a different source today to mention an update for next week.
obviously its probably just getting to tmobile next week but at least thats something.
Let us know how it goes. if you dont see an internal update by next week than well know thats its probably not trust worthy. but what he said makes sense regarding the update stuff.
and hopefully the gb update fixes gps and wifi
thanks man at least its something.

I can say my battery life appears to be better, no random reboots yet.
I've also previously experienced what I call hibernate which is where I have to press the power key 12 times to unlock the screen. Seems to run a bit smoother as well.
Problems so far are the camera sucks now. When the screen goes to standby after I load a webpage and I unlock the screen, it reverts to the previous page.
I have had a few occasions where I have had to click a link like 10 times to get data to load the page. That all I've notices so far within the 24 hours I've been running the update.

I am tired of waiting for the Android 8 for Razer, what is the deal???!
All other devices already have the updates
Yeah I agree. I really want to see some custom ROMs on the razer phone but untill they release android 8 that's not going to happen. Really surprised that they haven't already released it as it's basically stock android
We where told it would be in the 1Q of this year and we are still in that period. Also other manufacturers don't have a 120Hz screen to think about and test that it works correctly on Oreo so give them time to perfect it and fix the bugs that are currently in N.
As much as I want Oreo it's best to let them work and not rush it out the door.
They'll have the 120Hz screen to work on, the theme engine to work on and the game engine etc.
will say however that if Oreo isn't due soon then they should at least publish an update for this crashing issue on Netflix and Google Play Movies.
Only 5 days left of Q1 now though.
Fully expect a delay of the update now unfortunately. Hope in wrong though.
EDIT: This tweet from Min doesn't add much hope for me ""We'll have an announcement very soon on this"
I just got confirmed it'll be released by April. No need to keep waiting these days for a before-end-of-Q1 release.

CS agents usually don't know much, but they also usually won't give out even approximate dates unless they've been told to. I can live with an April release. It's not much of a delay and I'd rather it be a good update then a rushed POS.

I can't see them being told anything like this tbh in case one of them "slip up" but I agree i'd rather they get it done properly and good for use.
Would however like an update for the hardlocks for netflix and google play movies at least to tide us over but I can't see that happening.

From what I know, the weird vibration noise is a hardware issue. You can always turn it off for calls and each individual app. It would be nice though if we had an intensity control, that way we could set it up at the optimal value so it does not sound like broken.
So, looks like no more dessert names for Android... I kind of liked it, it made them stand out. Whatever. So, last year Pie was released the same day it was named, sooo, hoping it gets released today! It's definitely imminent either way.

Android 10 release date confirmed: Here's when Google will release it to Pixel phones
I tried the latest beta earlier and when I was lookong around the Google play services was showing as 1st September. Security was 1st of August.
Being a nosey sod I pressed it for more info and it said there was an update. Downloaded a small update and then was back to 1st of August. Kept saying there was still an update but that failed.
Could be the bods getting ready for the new updates maybe? But never seen the play services with its own entry before.

Meh, I would take this with a grain of salt. Google chat reps seriously don't know what they're talking about most of the time. They don't even have the means to help with much either. Also, the fact that he or she said that it would be Android Q really shoots it down for me. I mean, who knows. I'm betting on this week or next anyway.
Some new information regarding Android 10/Q which would have been Android Queen Cake if Google would have stuck with the dessert names ?.. and also the future of Android with Android lead engineer Dave Burke and another lead developer

it is so frustrating that they release phones so often with no chance to really refines them. then there is google that puts out versions of android before developers get a chance to master or migrate fully to the latter.
i heard the new storage security in android 11 can cause hiccups like slow loading and crashes due to the new storage activity due to the new security rules.

I did and as I said I've never had any issues with an update in 11 years. I'm sure Sammy will have it figured out before they release it. All my phones have been rooted until the Note 7, and you take more chance flashing a rom written by some dev than an update from a major player.

But samsung does not work or develop the third party apps or what not that you install on your phone. Any unsupported app you use will likely be crippled(heard that loading times can be 100× longer to start the app) and any dev too aggravated to to fix it may stop supporting his or her project. Also most devs have not even cought up to android 10. Yea i hope to many update and google learns their error in this mess

If it does happen and I seriously doubt it, I'll just reflash with odin and restore my backup. My glass is half full, not half empty. I have friends on other forums running 11 beta on Pixels with no issues.
Am I in a pixel or oneplus thread? Note 20 ultra users most likely get Android 11 before March 2021 and chances are that any kinks should be ironed out by then. I don't understand why this conversation needs to happen this early.

I will absolutely update as soon as its available. I always sign up for the beta each year to get the update ASAP. Most people complain that Samsung doesn't update fast enough. Haven't heard anyone complain yet that they update TOO fast, LOL.
These concerns happen every year, and they always end up being a non-issue.
As far as app compatibility issues, that's the developers' issues. They are advised long in advance what they need to do to remain compatible with the current OS.

Yup! Sammy has stepped up their update game the last few years. I think last year they were pushing the official Android 10 before the end of the year to some devices. I think, but I could be wrong. I know it was earlier than the previous years.

LOL. I don't think I lucked out. I think issues with OS updates are far less common than you think. I'd say you are definitely in the minority.
I've been on Android since the original Moto Droid. I've had almost every Moto, LG, Samsung, Nexus, and Pixel. I've been through beta OS updates, official updates, side loaded updates, unofficial ported updates, you name it.
You're going back 5 YEARS and saying because an update broke your favorite application, that Google/Samsung updates too often? Is every update perfect? No, but they certainly don't break everything the way you think they do.
~
Android updates on Samsung phones are always an anti-climax. Samsung tend to have implemented all the best features that a new Android update brings already. What you end up with is a range of bugs or security features that break your apps. I will always go for the update that's offered but I am not excited about it or bothered if there's a delay in any roll outs.

No you are absolutely right. I'm out in Canada and if memory serves me right we got Android 10 at the beginning of January a month or so after the US. It was the years prior that the OS update came out with the S series release. And to your point Samsung has stepped up their game, tremendously. It's right after the Pixels and Oneplus which is not too shabby. And getting faster to boot. No complaints here. :good:

Android updates on Samsung phones are always an anti-climax. Samsung tend to have implemented all the best features that a new Android update brings already. What you end up with is a range of bugs or security features that break your apps. I will always go for the update that's offered but I am not excited about it or bothered if there's a delay in any roll outs.

So true. I read one of the big changes with Android was bubble-like messaging, much like FB Messenger. Uh... I've had that in Samsung for a couple years now I think? My text app always pops up in a bubble instead of the notifications panel.

Yeah, Note10+ got Android 10 in December I believe. Definitely was super fast compared to Note9 getting Android 9 (February/March).

Thats what I was thinking, but couldn't remember 100%. Unless there's somd major issues, it looks like we're on the same timeline for Android 11, since the beta is already out for the international S20 series. US Note 20 won't be too far behind.

Spot on. What a wrenched mess.
My 10+ is still running well on Pie.
Google is insane to emulate Apple.
I don't think Google will fix it, another Vista.
Probably stay on Pie for the life of this phone and hope Google regains their sphincter control with 12 or 13...

I saw that too, wtf? Messenger does that all the time with Pie.
Lol, half of the time I disable it because it's a nuisance.
I've backed up all my Playstore apps with APK Export because of them either being taken down in Playstore or turned into a bloody mess to adapt to 10/11.
I also have a couple trusted apps the use overlays, Q would render them useless or a pain to use.
I remember the horror of Vista and Lollipop... Pie is running very well, WYSIWYG
The most I'll do for now is an occasional reload of Pie if needed. All my data including the all apks/system updates are stored on my SD card so reloads are much easier. No screwing around with or waiting for Playstore. Any app that allows it's setup to be exported is also saved there.
With over 230 GB of data it saves a lot of time coping it from the laptop too.
I never have a phone without an SD card slot... you know like an Apple.
