Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 restart problem after update to JB - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated my galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3100 to JB using this steps:
Pre-requisites
1. Install USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 on the computer.
2. Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone by navigating to Settings >> Developer Options.
3. Make a backup of all your important data before following the guide.
4. The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 should be factory unlocked and not locked to any particular carrier.
5. Ensure the battery of the phone is charged more than 80 per cent.
6. The Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6 Jelly Bean firmware is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100. Applying this to any incorrect variant might brick the device. Verify the model number of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 by navigating to Settings >> About Phone.
File Required
1. Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6 Jelly Bean Firmware (Mirror) for Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100
2. Odin 3.07
Steps to Update Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100 with Android 4.2.2 XXDMG6 Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract Firmware zip file that you downloaded already from above link using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool, you will get a .tar.md5 file and some other files.
Step 2: Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
Step 3: Power off your phone.
Step 4: Boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 5: Run Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 6: Connect the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.
Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.
Step 7: Choose the following files in Odin from extracted P3100XXDMG6 firmware folder by using respective checkboxes:
Select the PDA checkbox, and choose the file named .tar or .md5.
Click the Phone checkbox, and choose the file with 'modem' in its name (ignore if there is no such file)
Click the CSC checkbox, and select the file with 'csc' in its name (ignore if such file is missing)
Choose the PIT checkbox, and choose the .pit file. Use only the file obtained during extracting in step 1 above, otherwise ignore it.
Step 8: In Odin, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. Also, ensure the Re-Partition checkbox is chosen only if a .pit file was chosen in the previous step.
Step 9: Verify everything suggested in Step 7 and Step 8 is done correctly. Then hit the START button to begin the installation process.
Step 10: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
The tab was very slow after rebooting with JB but after an hour it worked perfectly and fast. but in the next day it start to restart on it's own endlessly for about 2 hour than stopped restarting and work fine. But now every time I use the tab for no matter what I'm using it for it's begin the restarting loop for an hour at least.
The tab isn't rooted.
What I should do know to stop the restarting loop?

where did you get it the firmware?
what jb version is, 4.1.1 / 4.2.2 / 4.3 ?
my suggests is you have to download firmware from the official samsung sites, if you wanna use the stock rom, then install like you have did it
but if you wanna use the custom rom, you can root the tab first, than install the custom rom, which is included more features, more speed,

did ur problem solved???? i too facing similar issue after upgrading the software.. mine too restarting often. cudn do cache partition... any solutions u got?

I think I read somewhere that if you are installing JB rom, your bootloader should also be for JB. I believe one has to use ODIN and use the PDA option to update bootloader. Do you remember doing any of that?

I used ODIN to update to official samsung JB for my device but I didn't update the bootloader using PDA option.

I did a downgrade to JB 4.1.2 but the tab stuck at samsung animation boot screen but I did manged to enter recovery mode and do a wipe cache partition and restart to know if it gone boot but it did stuck at samsung animation screen than I used odin to but it back to 4.2.2 and it worked fine with no restart for the first 24 hour but it did restart once while I'm using it in the half of the second day and two while I'm recharging it at the end of second day.
And here we are at the third day with no restart for about 15 hour since the last restart.
I hope it's the end for this problem.

Hi guys that xda and you my fellow
Honestly never update when you have a low battery as I did. It causes small booting issues.
Also using Odin I ensured that the firmware updated and then it restarted twice. This happened since I was low on juice.
Later it kind of hung when I restarted. Was a bit upset when it did.
So charged the Phablet p3100.hard and volume up and main key performed a hard reset to the boot. Wiped cache and restarted.
Day 3 since then. Updates are perfect and smooth as ever.
Most of all looks great to onto 4.2.2..looking to see what's cooking in the kitchen and much more even BBM which I had to install from an earlier thread now was accepted from the playstore.
What else.. I'm reading and will keep you posted incase of any failure

Did you do factory reset after upgrading to JB? If you did not, that might be cause of those problems.

From Sammobile.com. This is for Nordic countries, there is another one for Portugal. Let me know if this one is for your country.
P.S. For downgrading first use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195673 , and then flash your country firmware.

ROOT Samsung galaxy s4 canadian variants running stock/custom rom on 4.2/4.3

I created this thread just because i feel i should hare my knowledge and this is the best way to do it. i am new soo please bare with me
Ever since the 4.3 update for galaxy s4 i9505 came out, i was soo eager to get that on my samsung galaxy s4 shg-i337m which is a canadian variant. I am not the type of guy to run stock roms. i am currently using Foxhound 3.1 diamond dog (very impressive if i say so myself). when i installed it i lost root. i did have to run around to get the method to actually root it once again. i thought i would save peoples time by putting it where it belongs.
Everything below was not created by me. Original post by VINOD YALBURGI from International Business Times (ibtimes.co.uk)
but the download files are easily obtainable (google is a mans best friend)
Downloads Required
CF-Auto-Root for Galaxy S4 I9505
ODIN v3.07
NOTE: Backup important files on the phone's SD card, so if you perform a data wipe or factory reset on your device via recovery (which also formats the SD card), the data may be restored after rooting the device.
How to Root Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 on Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 Official Firmware via CF-Auto-Root
Root Galaxy S4 LTE I9505 on Android 4.3 XXUEMJ5 Official Firmware [GUIDE]
1. Extract the root file CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip on your computer via 7-zip software to obtain a .tar.md5 file.
2. Also extract Odin 3.07.zip file to obtain Odin3 v3.07.exe.
3. Double-click the exe file to launch Odin.
4. Boot the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 into Download Mode. To do so, turn off the phone and wait for 6 to 7 seconds until the device completely shuts down.
5. Press and hold Volume Down, Power and Home buttons together until the "Warning!" message appears on screen. Then hit Volume Up button to progress into Download Mode.
6. Connect the phone to computer. When the phone connects successfully, a message saying "Added!" will appear at the bottom left box in Odin.
7. If the "Added!" Message fails to appear, you may try the following troubleshooting steps:
Ensure the correct USB drivers are installed for the phone on computer
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the phone's USB drivers
Connect a different USB cable and check.
Try using another USB port on the computer (preferably the one at the back)
Reboot the phone and PC. Then check if the message appears.
8. Upload the firmware files in Odin as suggested below:
Tap the PDA button in Odin and choose the .tar.md5 file, which was extracted in step 1.
9. Enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options in Odin. Leave all other boxes in Option section unchecked.
10. Verify the previous two steps are done correctly. If there is a mistake, it may brick your device.
11. Click Start in Odin to begin the firmware flashing process on your Galaxy S4. Wait until the PASS message appears in Odin's top left box.
12. When the PASS message appears, the phone will restart automatically. Now, it is safe to disconnect the phone from computer.
NOTE: If a FAIL message appears in step 12, just disconnect the phone from computer and exit Odin. Remove the phone's battery and reinsert it in 3 to 4 seconds, then launch Odin and repeat the entire tutorial from Step 4.

Samsung galaxy tab 2 5100 was stucked in boot loop and with odin I put philz recovery on tablet and with options inside backup all files to sd card. And after that deleted everything on tablet. Now I dont have any rom installed on tablet and when I turn it on it just on black screen with samsung tab 2 logo. I found couple of download links for original factory rom for europe but they are all on hotfile website and that website is shuted down by US court. So now I dont know what to do and I cant download factory rom.
Can someone help me what to do now???

Put GT-P5100 in the search box and choose the Rom that you want from the list. You'll need to register to get the link.

You need to quote me in your reply or I don't get a notification.
There's nothing to stop you rooting it again and extracting the data from your nandroid backup once you've installed the Rom

You can't really restore them, because they're on a different ROM, it'd overwrite all your fresh and fast ROM.
In two words: you can't.
You will need a country specific firmware, where did you buy your P5100; was it from.. anywhere in the world? Check for a sim card slot.
If it doesn't, get on to reading!
1. Find how much bits your windows is.... this can be done by opening the start orb in the bottom left corner, then right-click on computer. Click Properties, and look for 64 or 32.
Pick 64 if you have 64, or pick 32 if you have 32.
2. Install drivers according to your bits.
These will ensure good experience.
- 64bit: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x64.shtml
- 32bit: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x86.shtml
3. Download UK recovery! That is, if you don't have a SIM card slot.
Find here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=22456
Now, I was quite lazy to write a tutorial, so I did copy some sources. they will all be given credit.
1. Download and Install the Samsung USB drivers to your PC from the link above. Reboot your system once after installation. If you have already have KIES installed you can skip this step
Extract the Odin Package you downloaded earlier to your desktop. Look for the Odin exe file. That's the only one we would be using
Extract the downloaded stock firmware zip file to your desktop
On your Tab, go to Settings > Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging
Now Power off your Tab completely. We will now be putting your device into Download mode or Odin Mode as it is also called. Download mode is basically a Samsung Exclusive mode which allows flashing of firmware via Odin. Odin can only communicate with Samsung devices when they are in Download Mode. To get there, press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Power. Then press Volume Up to enter download mode
On your PC, launch Odin by double clicking the exe file in the Odin folder. Just make sure that Samsung KIES is not running on your PC at this time. KIES and Odin don't like each other very much.
Connect your Tab 2 to PC using the OEM USB cable. Any microUSB cable should work, but I prefer to use the one supplied with the phone to avoid any unforeseen complications. You should see the message Added!! in the main Odin message box like in the screenshot below, as well as as COM Port number in the first slot directly above the message box, which tells you that Odin has recognized your device
odin_zpsc9caf496.jpg
In Odin, click the PDA button, locate the stock firmware .tar file that you extracted in Step 3. If there are additional file for the modem and CSC, add those as well. Make sure the Auto Reboot and the Reset Time boxes are checked and Re-partition box is NOT checked.
Double check everything in Step 8, then hit the Start button to restore your Tab 2 to stock Samsung firmware
Once Odin has finished flashing the CWM recovery, your Tab should automatically reboot. And if the flashing was successful, you should see the word PASS! against a green background at the top-left in the Odin window. This means it is now safe to disconnect your device. Yes, I do need this too!
not so easy as OP posted
once u have root and knox tripped, you cannot flash a firmware older than what u are currently running, the odin gives error while writing to nand.
so if u rooted on 4.4.2, u can only flash that, not 4.3.
FYI even if one is not rooted, u cannot downgrade
