Is this Chinese-app safe?
Why work only on windows?

I've been thinking of rooting my lg optimus l4 ii but I'm not sure yet so I have a few questions first. Do you think is it even worth rooting this phone since there is no custom ROMs and kernels for it? Did you notice improvement in battery, performance, or something, just by removing some unwanted apps or better memory management if you tried some apps for it and things like that. And another thing did you install clockworkmod for this phone and how, since I can't find anything about it for this phone. Thanks.

Just update wit info that new version of vroot puts english version of SupeUsser app.
As for removing stock apps from phone, yes, you can do it BUT when you restart you phone the apps will get BAC, same goes for integrating updates into apps, they also get reverted to original state which sucks big time, because phone is not letting you free up some space.
There are some apps that are easier to use with root access, such as backup tools and link2SD ....

Yes, SupeSu, busybox ... The problem is when i remove (freezing is not same as removing), for example: google maps or gmail, when phone is restarted, those apps get reinstalled by phone itself because they are odexed.
I got my phone on contract with network provider.

.odex files doesn't have anything with auto update apps.
Check your Google play store settings and disable auto updates.
Also, when you root your LG, just go to system/app and delete .apk and .odex files you don't want on your device.
I just got this device (as my business phone), I never had LG before...
Don't want to offend anyone but this is toy, it's not good device...but OK....
I used to work on Xperia devices and this is something new for me...
BTW - goomanager can install recovery on any device

[PORT]Facebook Inside Xperia 2.0-Everything working :)

--THIS IS NOT MY WORK. ALL CREDIT GOES TO BLACKWATCH89 FOR GETTING THE FILES TOGETHER IN THIS THREAD. THIS IS JUST AN ACCUMALATION AND AN EASIER WAY OF MAKING IT WORK. --
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT MESSES UP ON YOUR PHONE. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!1!1!1111
THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR STOCK BASED ROMS- I.E STOCK 2.3.3, WOLFBREAK V6, POSSIBLY OTHERS BUT HAVE NOT TESTED ON OTHERS.
-This will add SE Home launcher, Media discovery, app discovery, world clock, calendar apps.
okay, here it goes. It's not as simple as it looks so PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
THINGS YOU'LL NEED
-Root explorer or equivalent
-Flashable zip with MOST files:DOWNLOAD HERE
-SEMCFacebookProxy.apk:DOWNLOAD HERE
-SE 2.3.4 Home launcher (all widgets work on this and you can share apps as well):DOWNLOAD HERE
INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE FOLLOW CAREFULLY AND DONT SKIP ANY STEPS.
1.REMOVE ALL FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS! I.E Remove Facebook inside xperia account and facebook sync account. Also, if you want to be extra safe, go to your facebook-privacy settings-apps and websites and REMOVE the facebook inside xperia option.
2.Download all files required, put zips and SEMCFacebookProxy.apk on SDCARD.
3.Flash FB02.zip using xrecovery. Flash 2.3.4 home launcher as well. Wipe dalvik cache.FIX PERMISSIONS (IMPORTANT).Reboot.
4.Install SEMCFacebookProxy.apk using some file explorer. It should install perfectly.
5.Login to facebook, choose sync settings. If everything worked properly you should get a facebook inside xperia message asking for permission options in notification bar.
6.Using root explorer, go to system/app and MOVE SEMCFacebookService.apk to sdcard. Reboot, then INSTALL the same SEMCFacebookService.apk from your sdcard. Reboot again. You might get another authorization notification but that's okay, everything should be working perfectly now.
Troubleshooting
1.If you don't get a prompt asking you to authorize Facebook inside Xperia, REMOVE your facebook sync and FIX sync. Then, relogin into facebook, choose sync options, it should come up.
2.Sharing apps MIGHT not work on new 2.3.4 Home launcher. It might work for you but it's no guarantee. It didn't work for me, but did wrok for others. One thing you can try if it isn't working is to UNINSTALL 2.3.4 launcher by deleting home.apk from system/app (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ANOTHER LAUNCHER!) and reflash it!
3.If you get connection problems with media discovery, try fixing permissions using xrecovery
Have fun!

Pandora has contact list permissions, Facebook has Texting permissions. I fixed them.

Edit:
The developer of Permission remover has contacted me regaurding the apps inability to sign and reinstall pandora. He has sent me a preview of an update to his app that now does not require the second step of signing the app with zip signer 2
I got annoyed that the latest version of Pandora had permission to read my contacts. I removed the permission and re-installed with my rooted Gnex, without a PC. Here is how I did it:
1. Downloaded and installed the latest version of Pandora from the android market.

2. Download and install Permission Remover from the Android Market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=at.plop.PermissionRemoverFree&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImF0LnBsb3AuUGVybWlzc2lvblJlbW92ZXJGcmVlIl0.
3. Permission Remover can remove permissions from apks stored on your sd card or in the "installed applications list". It is also supposed to be able to save, re-sign, and reinstall the stripped down app but this did not work for Pandora. So I used it to strip the "read contacts" permission but had to complete additional steps described below.
4 Download and install Zip Signer 2 from the Android Market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=kellinwood.zipsigner2&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImtlbGxpbndvb2Quemlwc2lnbmVyMiJd
5. I used Zip Signer 2 to navigate to /sdcard/at.plop.PermissionRemover/New and locate the new "contact permission free" Pandora apk, and sign making sure to specify the file extension .apk.
6. Using a file explorer I installed the newly stripped and signed apk.
If you would rather have the apk I have already cleaned up:
https://www.box.com/shared/mz628clir8uhhh15yqkp
The newest version of Facebook has sms read and write permissions that can be removed via the same process described above.
Here is the apk that I have already processed to remove them:
http://www.box.com/s/3nlnxk6u4jr5dsmeyg3n
So I can do this to remove permissions from any app? Just follow this guide? I think some permissions are not needed at all. Though for each update we need to do this every time right?
Also, when removing permissions it means they can no longer do that right? If so, I will rewrite your guide for a much easier format. Make it look pretty. XD
Plus we can make a list of apps with removed permissions. Free ones of course. XD I would be more than happy to start this project if this goes well.

I cant guarantee that removing permissions won't break an app. There is no harm in trying. If you do remove a permission the worst that can happen (should be) that the app wont work. If it doesn't work, all one would have to do is uninstall the edited app and reinstall from a backup or the market.
As far as I know, removing a permission disallows the app from utilizing them.
The app creator can and often does alter permissions between updates. When prompted in the android market for an app update (if updating works at all) all of the original permissions as well as any new permissions will be restored.

Well if we could figure out if removing the permissions stops them from accessing what they want to. So removing the ability to read contacts from Pandora, makes it so that can not read them any more. At all. Right? That is what I am trying to figure out. So removing a permission disallows it to access the info?

I asked a question, if it is true, would you be willing to do a project and remove unnecessary permissions?
Sure. Sounds like fun to me.
It would be a great thing removing all unnecessary permissions, but, how to know what permissions are really needed for app to work properly? I guess that every app has it's own unique permissions that are necessary but how to know which ones? Is the only way to find that out by trying and errors?
For example, Keypad is using data traffic (if you don't believe try installing Onavo from Market). Why. What would happened if we remove it?
Generally keyboards use internet access to provide spell check/autocorrect or Speach to text services.
But yeah basically you have to decide what functionality you wish to limit, and conduct trial by error studies on how far you can go removing permissions.

So we wont need the Zip Signer 2 app ever again or he is just fixing Pandora?
I removed, the Contact permission from Pandora with the new version and it worked without step 2.
I have no access to Facebook. I can't even load it. It says that it can't mount or write /sdcard

We wont have to use zip signer 2 until we find another app that has a problem installing after removing the permissions with Permission Remover. The Developer would like us to notify him about apps that dont install properly after only using Permission remover. The developer has been really responsive. I didn't even contact him. He saw this thread and contacted me.
Does this work? Can we remove permissions from Facebook or Angry Birds?

The best way to make this tool even better....Give your input, what would you like to see?
Awesome. thanks for this!
I already have root and I kinda went on a deleting spree when i got root... I uninstalled a dozen or two apps that I figured I didn't need. I realize it probably wasnt the best idea and I probably should have frozen them first, but oh well. I think i caused some random battery drains now and am thinking about what to do next. I can think of two options:
1)Odin back to stock/Run this tool^ --> is there any way around loosing my data when I Odin?
2)Wait for SS/install custom ROM --> The custom ROM should replace anything I messed up right?
I also implemented the fix to write to SD. Any advice you have would be great! I am not having major problems with my phone by any means. I'm just looking for the best experience.
The way I compiled the executable may pull up as a Virus in Symantec Endpoint but I assure you it is not.

If you are unsure about anything removed that might cause harm then ODIN'ing back to stock would be recommend. I usually only use ODIN when I want that "out of the box / from scratch" mind set. If your phone has no real malfunctions (like you said) try downloading a battery monitoring app. I use battery Doctor.

We could add a package, it would be large, to push all the deleted files back to the device and set permissions to each. It would be challenging but ultimately can be done, if needed. That is of course if you didn't want to wipe the entire phone. In my other thread I put downloadable links to each app that was removed with the original debloat script. OP you can link to those if you wish.

wouldnt it be easier for a talented person to create a no wipe odin tar? one that wont wipe phone at all but will reinstall the system and put back anything that was undone keeping everything else intact.. if possible would be a lot easier than making a package to load everything back

If I stop the system like I've been doing I don't see why framework modifications are not a possibility. I'll play around tonight when my wife and daughter are sleeping.
Update it seems there is ONLY a deodexed version of the framework patch for NAtive Wifi Tether Bypass. Until I play more the only thing we can offer is adb installing X Tether and Xposed.
Thanks for this, used it to remove some bloatware i missed!!!

...this isn't that type of program. That's something you can either download from the playstore for a custom toggle switch, or wait for ROMs to come out. Or do what I did and download Xposed and added the long press volume up button that enables flashlight with phone off.

If you (or someone else) wants to take the time to edit the necessary files for this to work I'd be more then willing to add it to the tool.
The procedure can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617552
I am at work and do not have time to decompile / recompile these files. Nor are we allowed to have such software on our PC's (APKTOOL)
Like I said, if someone wants to edit the files and recompile them. Send them to my e-mail [email protected] and I will add this function to the TOOLKIT

[Completed] Play Services 5.0.84 Causing Problems?

I have a Verizon S4, running a GPE ROM and KTweaker kernel. Last night, my phone's Play Services was still on 4.whatever, and everything was fine. This morning, I powered on my phone, and it's nigh unusable because I keep getting an error over and over that Play Services isn't working. I managed to get into settings and see that my Play Services is now at 5.0.84. Is it just me having issues, or is this a common thing right now? Pretty frustrating, considering I really can't do anything with my phone with these constant errors. :/

Oh, I see that yoiu have already posted your question in the ROM thread.
I think it's a good place.
Although I see some other users also reporting issues after Google Play Service updates ... some could fix it by clearing data of Google Play Service app, some just uninstalled the latest Google Play Service update, and others fixed it by flashing latest Gapps for their ROM.
So asking in your ROM's thread is fine IMO.
The only thing I can clear, via settings, is the cache for Play Services, but that doesn't help any. I was going to try to disable it and then reenable it, but it won't let me, because it says something about being a device administrator or something.
I didn't have to install GAPPs, as that was included in this ROM package, so I don't know if I should download and flash one of those or if that will cause even more problems for me due to the ROM already having had that stuff.

Unless you get no better advice on the ROM thread, you should reflash the ROM.
If it does not solve the issue, wipe data (= do a factory reset).
Make a backup of everything important before.
EDIT:
My team mate @bhiga found another possible fix to try before wiping data:
Sometimes using Titanium Backup to convert Google Play Services to a user app can fix this issue of Play Services constantly crashing. Need to be patient and keep dismissing until the process completes, then reboot.

How do you do that? I've only ever used Titanium Backup to do backups and restores.

It's a special feature in Titanium Backup Pro app. When you open the system app in Backup/Restore, you see Backup properties. Just wipe from right to left to see the Special features:

Ah, I see. Unfortunately, I can't use the pro features in TB because it can't verify the license, since the Play Services error won't allow me to connect to the Play Store. :/

Firstly my phone S8+ is not rooted .!!
Anyway i have Note 2 , Note 3 Note 4 etc all rooted.
When i had similar issues eg like yours , i used Package disabler app
to disable ( i think ,cannot clearly ,remember anymore ) Security Policy .... etc .No issues afterwards.
I would suggest look along those lines to solve issue .!
good luck

Firstly, not sure Yash92duster means by "security manager" in settings.?
Anyway i guess, by that,
first check your
Device Maintenance app /Device security...
if you enabled it.?
What i mean is that if you still get notification afterwards. Which i did.
I downloaded an app Package disabler
, not sure if there is a free version.?
I granted root access and checked the list
of "processes" listed in Package disabler and Security policy i disabled.
Also i phone /settings /lockscreen and security /other security settings /Security policy updates /Auto updates.... swicth off.
Reminder that i said i am not rooted
but it seems similar as in past experiences.
I would Google around a bit or search XDA
eg How to disable Security process with
Package disabler... or something like that.
I'm just trying to get you on right path!
good luck

Yes that's one process to disable /freeze.!
(I can remember now i disabled Securitylog Agent !
I think it was the main culprit for the notifications
You on the right track.!
Just search a bit and your right on track.
Good to check vids on YouTube, how it's done.!
Don't forget to turn off Automatic Security updates
(as set out in my above post)
Post note.
If you rooted you have to turn of all devices
Security Updates, log etc!
otherwise it is going to try and unroot itself !
I had no side effects from turning off Securitylog Agent process, on all my rooted devices.
If you look on Package Disabler./Titanium apps
you can freeze it
Good luck

Actually as far as i know
SecurityLog Agent or Security Policy system apps you cannot freeze successfully in
Settings.
Force stop only, which is basically useless.
You have to use apps like Titanium or Package Disabler

You have root so you can delete that app and check
Are you on stock rom with just root
If so felting that app will solve that issue
It solved in my older phone
