Hi all,
After making the Anti Spy Mobile, I had some questions from users how to track the actual connections from Spyware apps, or comments like "Anti Spy Mobile says my phone is clean, but my device is still tracked". Then I decided to make Network Connections - an app that monitors, captures and logs all connections from an Android device in order to show where the "data goes". And to work for NON-ROOT devices too. Almost an year after, here's the app - Network Connections for Android.
Because I wanted to thank all of you (XDA-devs members) that gave me suggestions for my previous app - Anti Spy Mobile, I've decided to thank you all by giving you a free, unlimited key for the new app. The key will be available in Google Play until 10/10/2013 extended until 19/10/2013, so everyone who likes the app can download it now and use it without limitations!
About the app - a tool that displays and monitors (tracks) all inbound and outbound connection from and to Android device that works on NO ROOT phones (for Android up to 10) too. For Android 10+ you need ROOT (see below)..
KEY FEATURES:
- Monitors all internet connections from and to your Android device
- Displays notification when hidden apps are connecting to remote servers
- Displays detailed IP information for each connection - IP address, reverse resolving (PTR), AS number, Abuse RBL data, administrative information, etc.
- Gets detailed info about each app that connects to remote servers and network connections used by it - permissions granted to each captured package and all IP addresses used by it.
- Real-time sort by most active, latest connections or by package name.
- Log and export the captured data.
Connections Used by The App:
Google IPs - Statistics and Maps
RIPE, ARIN - IP information

App URL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antispycell.connmonitor&utma=xd (I'm posting the APK as attachment, but it's better to use the Google Play link in order to receive further updates).
Special Unlock Key For XDA-Developers: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antispycell.connmonitor.unlockxda&utma=xd
Please let me know how do you like it, and what are your suggestions on it. One thing that is not implemented, but seems to be good is the feature to block non-wanted connections (this will work for ROOT users only, but still will be a plus).
Known issues: Some IP addresses are not handled correctly on x86 Intel devices - negative numbers in the octets. - fixed
v1.0.8 - fixed resolving in current connections tab & some optimizations
v1.1.1 - zero port connections with invalid state not displayed
v.1.5.0beta - made to work for *Rooted devices for Android 10+
UPDATE (06/2020): A beta version (v.1.5.0) that works with Rooted Android 10+ devices is now released. Please test and submit reports here
You need ROOT for Android 10+: The app needs supolicy and it works with Majestik and SuperSU. All comments are appreciated.
All suggestions are welcome! Thank you ! :good:

You're welcome! :good:
Playing with it, I found some interesting "unexpected" connections:
For example - the ES File Explorer (one of the best file managers for me) is connecting to IP in Beijing, China on the HTTP port 80 ... ?
There are no ads in their app, probably they are using some kind of tracking, but why in China? Most of the apps are using Flurry, Google Analytics, etc. With a saucy list of permissions granted to the app it's scary ..
So, I was thinking that probably a place on the web that explains the network connections of the apps (at least the popular ones) will be a good source of security for those that want to know. What do you think ?
Nice app, thanks! Working well on N4. No funny connection with ES though. Did you use its downloader maybe?
Thanks! About the ES, the connection was right after the start on cleaned prefs. It can be something from their tutorial though ?

The domain name www.estrongs.com resolves to that same IP 202.108.23.200, so it's something from their web site or something from their service.
However, this IP hosts many other China web-sites, so I'm still not sure what exactly they are using this connection for: http://sameid.net/ip/202.108.23.200/
nice app for monitoring apps
i can use this one :good:
Current connections tab:
is it possible to have a group option (group by app, group by status(listen, established, etc)
Is it possible to have a filter?
For example i only want to see established connection from Chrome for example.
thanks for this app

Hi,
Connection grouping is more or less made in the APP Log tab - cumulative per app or by clicking on the Chrome app in APP Details screen, where you see all IPs used by the specific app.
Filter is good - I have to think how to make it from UI side of view, as I don't want to use menu buttons etc. in user navigation.
Thanks for testing and your suggestions !

Hi, Your question is OK, as the app still don't have a doc-related material. The Current connections tab shows in live time all connections made by your device.
The Connections Log tab shows only accumulated data for the captured connections - e.g. you may start and stop the live capture over time.
Unfortunately the D/L U/L rate is not available per IP, as the app is not using netfilter/iptables logs.

ownMdm is your own Mobile Device Manager, where you and only you, can remotely control your devices or your family devices and It is Free.
You put your own server and use the App to use it.
It has 2 parts:
- Web: The web part is a php web that uses a mySql Database to send and receive commands to your registered devices.
- App: The App is a mobile administrator that works like others, with a simple screen, and a configuration screen, but it makes things transparently.
You can use your Raspberri PI for more things than only Raspbmc or you can use your own LAMP server.

- Lock screen could be a good feature.
- Activate GPS. Developers can not enable GPS only at specific android versions.
- Wifi: When you send a location command, the App enable wifi if is was not enabled and send to the log the networks SIDs ordered by close.
- Stealth mode: I do not want this kind of App, but some feature will be developed.
If someone wants to give more feedback, is welcome.
thanks for nice appk
Enjoy!!!
Working on a new app version with stealth mode.
Soon
Right now, testing on:
- Android 2.3
- Android 4.0
- Android 4.3
It seems to work OK!!!

Description
As everybody knows, entering WiFi passwords is a pain. They can be painfully long, even more so if you enter it in wrong. WifiQR ventures to solve this age old issue with QR Codes. Scanning a QR Code generated by this app with Barcode Scanner (Click the "Barcode" button on the action bar to open) will automatically join you to that network. You can text it, email it, print it, even add pretty colors if you want! It is by far the quickest way to share WiFi Passwords.
Features
- Scan a QR Code and automatically join the WiFi Network
- Add colors to your QR codes
- Saves Networks for later use
- Auto-Complete to easily resurrect saved networks
- Share button to share your QR codes
- Touch the QR code to make it full screen
- Easy Access to Barcode Scanner
- Network you are currently connected to appears in the SSID Text Box automatically
Future Features
- Root Users: Load networks stored on your phone to load password along with SSID
- Immersive mode when QR Code is full screen
- It will tell you if it correctly connected
- Backup system for Data
- Long Click to connect to network of QR Code being displayed - Currently being worked on
- NFC Sharing
- Custom Hex Codes for Colors
- Move Toasts over to Crouton
- If you have any ideas please post them in this thread
Bugs
- Removes QR Code on orientation change
- If you found one, feel free to shoot me an email (Or PM me) at [email protected] or post what you were doing + logcat on this thread or

I don't know what I am doing wrong but, it doesn't seem to work for me.
Typed in my password an clicked create. Tried it with QRDroid + WiFi plug in and also with Barcode Scanner but nothing worked. It recognises that it's a WiFi network and tries to connect but it doesn't
Edit: Also I tested it on an Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 with CM 10.1.3 Stable and on my Nexus 7 (2013) with stock 4.4.2 KitKat
Great app, and great idea, already expecting for the root function to share saved networks.
Just found a small bug, when I load the app it automatically shows the name of the network that I currently are connected, but it cuts of the first letter in the SSID name.
A small example:
If I was connected to an network with this SSID: OfficeNetwork
In the app I get this: fficeNetwrk
If it helps
I'm currently on a Galaxy Note 10.1 with a touchwiz 4.1.2 based ROM.

Funny you would ask that, I was just about to post about possibly making it Open Source! As of now it is sitting in a private Bit Bucket which could easily made public (Either making it public or putting it on GitHub). If you or others are interested in the source code, I can get to work on it tomorrow.

Great idea :good:
Looks like a great app so far! Right now I use Instawifi, but I think I'm liking the design of yours a little better. Plus, Instawifi has some trouble when restoring from TiBu, where it doesn't fill the password field in saved SSIDs, which means I have to clear the app data to make it work again.
Question about the future NFC capabilities: will it be possible to create an NFC tag that does not require the app to already be installed for it to work? I would like to see this implemented, but I have no idea if it's even technically feasible/possible.
I'm looking forward to the root features you have in store to allow selecting previously stored networks, and am excited to see this app develop further. Keep up the good work!
EDIT: Problems on wifi locally was the cause. Perhaps put in a "wifi not connected" warning rather than crash?
Great idea, and I have a suggestion: is it possibile to implement the QR scanning for wifi in the set up that appeara on the first boot of android? I think that would be useful for everyone to set up the WiFi connection in a super fast way
Crear app, thanks!
Same missing first-letter bug for me on a Samsung Galaxy S3.
Waiting for your fix.
BTW, I am rooted and have a bunch of networks in my /data/misc/WiFi/wpa_supplicant.conf but I can't see any of them in your app (how?). Did I miss something?
Great app. Thank you!:good:
I have a feature request!
Could you provide the ability to use the already saved networks out of the systemfiles of android?
I am searching for such an app since android 4.4 because my old backup tool is not working anymore and all the others i tried from the market aren't working too.
(making a setting to choose this feature because of the necessary root privileges?)

Just try to connect directly from the app.

I've googled HTCOne Max wifi hotspot, it seems that many users discussed about several mobile operator disable the phone WiFi hotspot capabilities
Maybe that is the reason why Xender having trouble accessing the wifi hotspot module.
You should try some Mods to enable the wifi hotspot/tethering capabilities from this XDA thread and retry Xender!

NetGuard can prevent applications from using the internet (=firewall).
You can allow/deny internet access for each application, even system applications.
So what the best setting... Use the pic U posted as a reference

There's no "best" - this is subjective.
You have a list of apps, and you can choose whether or not to allow an app access to the Internet over WiFi or Mobile data.
Whether or not you want to let an app access the Internet is up to you.
I have just released alpha version 0.2 with quite some things improved.
https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard/releases/tag/0.2
I have just released beta version 0.3

I am using this version as production software myself now, hence why alpha changed into beta.

Your feedback, both positive and negative, is appreciated.
Is it (technically) possible to add "on-demand" feature ?
Maybe something close to how LBE works ... Yes/No/Don't ask again
Suggestion...

Not on a granular, per-app basis, at least right now.
NetGuard for Android works by creating a VPN service at system level. Based on your choices in the allow/deny screen, NetGuard will set up VPN rules for which apps are forced through the "VPN". The "VPN" isn't a real VPN; rather, it just sinkholes the traffic to nowhere.
The limitation here is that when creating these rules, we can only set which applications' traffic enters the VPN. We can't granularly control which requests or hosts they can talk to, on a per-app basis. It would be possible to set "for all apps" a whitelist/blacklist of IP addresses, but this would be quite different, and would likely be less useful as a firewall, and more useful as simply an "ad blocker".
The VPN interface doesn't tell us which app is trying to access the internet though - we need to set it up before-hand. There are ways to tell, but Google (or a careful OEM) could easily block those with SELinux policy updates, and the goal here is to try to get all the functionality we need without any kind of root access.
Nice app for non rooted users.
I've just created an issue on Github though.
French translation done.
I'll try to create an icon this weekend if I have free time. Let me know if you want a specific color,... etc.

The problem you have reported is probably caused by a broken VPN implementation in your ROM. I will look into it later this week more detailed.
I like to keep the current colors, realizing not everybody will like them, but I know from experience I can't make everybody happy anyway.
Thanks for your translation!
@Primokorn can you please try if you have the same problem with one of the no root firewalls from the Play store?

Well, now, at least internet works while it's on, but i can't see it's effectiveness - websites are full of ads.
What filters are you using? At what countries it's targeted on? Too lazy to check&compare internal filter within /data/data

Just sent you message through app. It's quite dissapointing, that logs will be sent to you without user knowing about it - there's no such info, that logs will be sent automatically.

We collect an errors that may occur in the app. We do not use Firebase Crashlytics to restrict access to user data. Please read the terms of the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy specifies what data we collect, see link: https://adprotect.app/agreements/en/privacy.html
Try remove and install the app again to solve this problem.

i found a similar problem as yours, see here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/mlituo
An user complains that vpn app doesn't work after rooting and installing Magisk app.
I think that some system apps (such as if the one responsible for VPNs) can be removed after rooting and the magisk app installation.
