I want to know if someone is using the Asus Padfone in the USA. (or other Countries)
I'm a little confused with the issue of carriers and their specifications and compatibility.
I would like to use Padfone on GSM with 3G or HSPDA+ (i.e. AT&T)
I see Padfone for sale on eBay and information you can give me would help me to order Padfone from Taiwan to USA.
All info are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

After researching I discovered that compatibility of Padfone depends of UMST / HSDPA especification.
Asus Padfone USMT/HSDPA: 900, 2100 MHz
Compatibility: Europa (partial), Asia, Australia (NOT Americas)
Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100) USMT/HSDPA: 800, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz
Compatibility: International (World)
That would explain why Asus Padfone launched in Australia and Italy soon.
Conclusions: we have to wait for the U.S. (or Americas) version. Very disappointing.
I hope this information will help you...
The Padfone will work on AT&T. It will only, however, work on Edge off of AT&T. You'll be stuck with 2G speeds. Unless you wait for the 3G/H+/LTE version released specifically for the US.
There wont be a US version, at least not anytime soon. I had emailed Hai Trat at asus a few months back asking about the padfone. He said that as of now there are no plans on bringing it to the US market. They feel (as well as the carriers) that the market is too saturated over here. He did say he would let me know if this ever changed but it doesnt look like it will.
exact quote from the email:
"For the Padfone. I do not think it will be released in North American shores. The market it too saturated over here with cellular devices and our partnerships with USA/CANADA cellular carriers view it the same way. I’ll let you know if this changes."
I do think the international version should be compatible with ATT bands. Most international phones seem to have the same bands as ATT. It's the TMO bands that are a pain in the ass because they use the AWS band for their 3G/H+
According to TheVerge and GSMArena its already in the US

Been waiting for this since they first showcased it back when it still had the silver stripe on the back over the camera Sucks I've been waiting for nothing. This is disappointing news, but thank you for this info. I appreciate it
I bought one in Taiwan and brought it with me on vacation to the US. I used the AT&T prepaid sim with it with no problems.

I brought one from mainland China to Austin, TX. It works fine with AT&T prepaid card but only works on the slow EDGE2 network. Because padfone runs 3G on WCDMA using the European frequency, I don't think it will be compatible with any US telecom operator regarding 3G net.

Were you able to use the phone (calling + texting) capabilities in the US? How slow does it run using EDGE? Thanks
User Experiences in US?
I've been thinking of getting one of the PadFones, but I was interested in hear everyones' experiences (esp. using the cellular internet) before I made my decision. Anyone have any?
Just got the Padfone Infinity from eBay. I'm with AT&T and can only get 2G (Edge) data speeds unfortunately.
Asus Padfone Infinity 2
Hi, guys a few days ago Asus present the second generation of Padfone Infinity, this new generation supports four UMTS bands (850, 900, 1900 and 2100) like Galaxy International version.
This fact is confirmed in GSMArena and Engadget website.
I hope this information helps.
Is it possible to use a verizon sim on the note?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
I would doubt it. Verizon uses CDMA whereas most global carriers use GSM. Considering the note comes as a 3G device and not LTE I'm going to say this device will not work on Verizon.

It's already cleared the FCC. The model number seems to follow AT&T naming conventions though.
"As for the other new Samsung slate spotted over at FCC, this is pretty much an open book for us. The SGH-i497 is, by all speculation, the 4G LTE-enabled version of the Galaxy Note 10.1. As some of you might already know, the Note 10.1 has been unveiled and even started selling in its Wi-Fi and 3G versions, with the LTE model being scheduled to launch “later this year”.
There’s nothing spectacular in FCC’s filing of the LTE Note 10.1, as we already know the tablet’s full spec sheet, including its quad-core processor and digital pen support."

Yeah. SGH = GSM
SCH = CDMA (and specifically, it seems to be only Verizon CDMA these days, Sprint devices are SPH)
T-Mo GSM units usually are SGH-Txxx instead of SGH-Ixxx.
For all the japanese Galaxy s4 owners and enthusiasts. Share problems, links, tips, you name it.
But be sure to still follow XDA Rules. =)

Curious about the 1970 Tapatalk bug? Read here.
Based on past experience with Galaxy S series in Japan:
Docomo only at launch 99% likely, maybe some bizarre au variant later.
Model name likely SC-07E/F if those models not already used.
Exynos variant, all FOMA/FOMA Plus/Xi bands. Maybe a few more for roaming
Dual-mode NFC-A/Felica (Felica SE on-board, NFC-A SE on the SIM card)
ISDB-T One-Seg, maybe Nottv.
which US model will work in Japan? or 9505?
Anyone out there using an S4 on Softbank? Will a US GSM model work on Softbank or Docomo or do we need to bring an 9505 model to Japan for use while visiting?
I could not find a definitive answer to this anywhere. I would like to purchase a NON-US variant of the Samsung galaxy tab with phone feature enabled, for use with VZW US.
I am currently in Taiwan and they have the phone enabled devices here but I am unsure if there is a model which will have CDMA+GSM OR IF IT IS EVEN COMPATIBLE ON VERIZONS NETWORK.
Taiwan does have CDMA. I believe it is 800 and VZW in the US is 800/1900.
I will also be visiting japan as well, so if there is a galaxy tab phone there that will work on the us verizon network I'd pick that up.
This should really be as simple as finding a model that supports both GSM and CDMA and just inserting the 4G LTE SIM card into it when I am back in the states.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
hello all,
I am currently visiting chicago, and I saw that the prices of the S6 are much better than in my country.
therefore, I am looking to buy one, but the seller at "best buy" told me it might not work for me.
is there a specific model of the S6 that might work better, and what carriers sells it?
the freqs. I'm using are: UMTS 900/2100 and LTE 1800/2600
thanks!
