Is it possible to use a verizon sim on the note?

I would doubt it. Verizon uses CDMA whereas most global carriers use GSM. Considering the note comes as a 3G device and not LTE I'm going to say this device will not work on Verizon.

It's already cleared the FCC. The model number seems to follow AT&T naming conventions though.
"As for the other new Samsung slate spotted over at FCC, this is pretty much an open book for us. The SGH-i497 is, by all speculation, the 4G LTE-enabled version of the Galaxy Note 10.1. As some of you might already know, the Note 10.1 has been unveiled and even started selling in its Wi-Fi and 3G versions, with the LTE model being scheduled to launch “later this year”.
There’s nothing spectacular in FCC’s filing of the LTE Note 10.1, as we already know the tablet’s full spec sheet, including its quad-core processor and digital pen support."

Yeah. SGH = GSM
SCH = CDMA (and specifically, it seems to be only Verizon CDMA these days, Sprint devices are SPH)
T-Mo GSM units usually are SGH-Txxx instead of SGH-Ixxx.

Does anyone know the full LTE frequency support of AT&T, i see the skyrocket is 700 and the vivid is 700, 1700... is that all AT&T supports? Because i might get the Samsung Galaxy S 2 HD LTE when it comes out and was wondering if that would be picked up by AT&T's network

galaxy s 2 hd lte IS the skyrocket.
AT&T's LTE network is both 700 (current) and 1700 (future planned after T-Mobile acquisition is complete from what I understand). In terms of bands it's LTE band 4 (1700) and band 17 (700).
I highly advise against getting the SGS2 HD LTE (which is NOT the skyrocket) as it is designed to operate on LTE 800. The most you can get out of it would be HSPA+ on AT&T's network.
edit: I've been doing tons of research at this point as my xmas 2011 upgrade has to have LTE, HD display and NFC (optional but desired) and that basically boils it down the either the Galaxy Nexus, a LTE device from Bell Canada and/or anything that AT&T decides to officially launch. I really don't understand why Samsung/AT&T didn't just release the HD LTE to begin with as I went and used the demo unit of the Skyrocket and everything on screen just looks ridiculously large due to poor resolution at 480x800

nope its different, yeah i really like it, the LTE would be a plus, to me the big feature is the HD screen, that would be AMAZING! i was hoping the skyrocket would be the LTE HD i would have bought that SO fast!!! Thanks for all the replies to me H+ is worth it for the HD screen, i was just wondering if at&t's network might pick up the 800 OR maybe samsung will release a US version... only time will tell
p.s. not really a fan of the nexus, i want gorilla glass and LOVE how the galaxy devices are... we will see
I would like to know as well. The HD LTE version looks better and has a dedicated home button. Will it work on AT&T LTE?
Seems my response may have been too technical.
No it won't work.
I need one. I am currently halfway through a 2 year Verizon LTE contract (pre-ordered the Thunderbolt, stupid me but at least I have unlimited data) but would buy an unsubsidized phone if necessary. I will be in East/Southeast Asia, Aus, Eastern and Western Europe.
Currently I'm thinking flagship phone with LTE + Quad Band GSM. The only viable options right now seems to be the Droid 4 (releasing next week) or the Verizon LTE Samsung Galaxy S 2. It seems like the Verizon LTE Galaxy Nexus does not have quad band GSM, although international versions do (but I want LTE when I'm in the states). The HTC Sensation does not have LTE, the Rezound lacks quad band GSM.
The other option is buy a used device solely for international travel. Maybe the Droid 3, HTC Sensation or Desire or even a Samsung Galaxy S.
Does anyone here know how much the decision to tune to lots of bands affects performance, call quality and battery life? I will not be carrying a computer or a tablet, so my phone is my lifeline. Also, if anyone has a Droid 3, what major countries does it NOT work in?
Just for reference, this is no Verizon Samsung GSII.
Not too long ago, I had heard that the Verizon Galaxy S3 would support global roaming in a future update. With the Verizon Galaxy S3 release imminent, I was wondering if this was still the case.
I recently ordered a Galaxy S3 for my Dad, considering his contract with Verizon was up and the data plans were changing. Now, my dad often travels back and forth between the US and South Korea; so often in that he carries two different Android phones for each country (DROID Incredible on Verizon and Nexus S on KT).
Would it be possible for him to dump both the Incredible and Nexus S phones and use only Verizon Galaxy S3 on both of the carriers (if unlocked), by just swapping out the SIM card when traveling between Korea and the US? He will be keeping KT as his cell provider in Korea and from what I've heard, KT does allow foreign phones to be registered on their network, as long as they're unlocked. Both Verizon and KT support CDMA & LTE, but I'm not sure if their frequency bands overlap and if the Verizon S3 would be able to hook onto both without having to flash the radio.
I see that there's already a Voodoo S3 SIM Unlock app on Google Play (probably not compatible with Verizon S3 yet, but maybe eventually possible?).
Either way, it'd be awesome to be able to use the S3 as his main phone on both carriers with a simple SIM card swap! Does anyone have any insight on this, whether it would be possible or not?

As far as I understand it, the Verizon S3 needs a software update to unlock the GSM bands within the radio, which currently is not available...Also the LTE Bands are Not Compatible, according to my research Verizon uses 700/750 KT uses 1800. The Verizon S3 has 700/750 LTE Support...Also note while the Verizon S3 likely will have GSM support via a software update it will be Edge bands not WCDMA/HSPA+...as for the CDMA side out of luck there too according to KT they use the 1800 band and the Verizon S3 only has 850/1900 band for CDMA...in short getting the Verizon S3 will in no way help your father ditch his second phone...If your father is an international traveler he would be better suited to using a GSM carrier then buying a phone like the Galaxy Nexus which is pentaband WCDMA, this will work in any country that has WCDMA, I can vouch personally that my GNex (GSM Unlocked) works in S. Korea with HSPA+ Data Speeds as I was just there this past February.
So though the GS3 would most likely not be able to use 4G (through HSPA+, I may also be misunderstanding...) would it be able to have 3G overseas? I ask since I will be traveling to China later this year and being able to use 3G over there would be more convenient than getting another phone...
Hello, I am officially considering getting T-Mobile Unlimited 4G service and want to know the entire array of devices I can choose from before committing to a purchase. I have been researching here and
elsewhere across the internet for days intensively and have answered some of my questions. I'm a bit obsessive about my choice of tech and think it would be useful to compile a list of all devices that will
fit my demands:
I demand full 42Mbps HSPA+ (if it only goes to 21, 14, 7.2 or less, I am NOT interested; Portland,OR has 42 service as far as I know) support on either AWS: 1700/2100, PCS: 1900/? (refarmed) or both. As for
LTE...I am less certain on how this will mesh with their refarming plans and with current/future devices. Ideally, my device will be able to choose between HSPA+ now and LTE in the future, but I can accept
just HSPA+ and would still like to see those devices included in this discussion. I am interested in devices T-Mobile sells directly, AT&T devices that could be unlocked for Magenta, international version
imports and any other devices that could be made to work.
Questions:
1. Is T-Mobile going to migrate ALL of their current HSPA+ coverage off of AWS and onto PCS? How quickly? Any downsides to having a device that supports one band but not the other?
2. What will the LTE situation be like? What bands/compatibilities would make a device future proofed for their upcoming network? Which devices have/will have it?
So far, I have confirmed (I think?) that the following devices support at least 42Mpbs HSPA+ on the AWS (1700/2100) band (exception noted):
HTC Amaze 4G
HTC One S
Google (LG) Nexus 4 (possible unofficial LTE support on Tmo via software tweak)
Samsung Galaxy Note (SGH-T879 T-Mobile version)
Samsung Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889 T-Mobile version; also possible future access to LTE on Tmo)
Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G
Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G (SGH-T699 T Mobile version), with QWERTY Keyboard
Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH-I757M for Telus, SGH-T989 for T-Mobile)
Samsung Galaxy S III (SGH-T999 T-Mobile version)
Sony Xperia ion HSPA (lt28h, international unlocked version)
Sony Xperia T (LT30a; also possible future access to LTE on Tmo)
I would love to update this post and expand the list as confirmations come in; I have mostly just researched higher end devices so plenty of older/midrange devices could also fit the criteria. Thanks to all who contribute:laugh:! I hope this info can help others as well.
Is it the Xperia ion LTE lt28i/lt28at or the lt28h that has full t-mobile lte?
The tmo blaze, sii, sensation and amaze also support 42+

As far as I can tell, the Xperia ion HSPA (lt28h) is the only ion that supports the HSPA+ 42 speeds. The other devices are the LTE variants for AT&T and international.

I can find no evidence that the HTC Sensation 4G supports full 42Mbps, only up to 14.4Mbps according to this review: PCMag review (can't post links:crying
I added all others you listed, thanks!:highfive:

My mistake, you are correct about the Sensation. I apologize for the error.

The Sony Xperia T LT30A Unlocked version is compatible on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network (both current AWS spectrum and the new re-farmed 1900mHz spectrum). It also has LTE radio that will operate on the future T-Mobile AWS spectrum (1700/2100) that will be reserved for LTE once the "re-farming" project is complete. Finally, it is HSPA+ 42Mbps capable. I may get one of these myself if the price is right.
Also, I can't believe no one has listed one of the most obvious ones... the Nexus 4! Not available on Play Store but still can be found on eBay for a slightly (or sometimes really) inflated price.

I'm looking to purchase a note 10.1 and have found some good deals on unlocked tmobile (gsm) models on amazon. I was originally planning on getting a wifi only edition, but I do have verizon mobile service. So I wanted to know if I did decide to want to add the tablet to my network, could I. Well it turns out the Internet offers conflicting information here. Some say that an unlocked note 10.1 will work on all carriers (verizon and GSM). Some say that's not true. I was just hoping an expert on this site could confirm which is correct. Thanks and sorry if it's a simple question, but I couldn't find any like this in the forumshort search.
Since the n8000 only supports 3g, it is not likely that it will work on CDMA networks like verizon. Verizon actually has their own model, the n8020, so that would be what you are looking for
