Will that option pass through Bluetooth 4.0? Would be nice to hear that in my car.

Doubt it.

The only possible way you could hear a difference in your headphones is if your headphones are 7.1 themselves.

Not true. It wouldn't sound like true 7.1 but there's lots of software emulation out there for surround sound. Take any device with a Surround and Stereo option with stereo headset, speakers, earbuds etc and there's a marked difference. Not as good as having real 7.1 hardware but it's an improvement depending on what you're listening to (I like it better for movies but it's not good for music typically).

You're right. I checked again its not actual 7.1, but "Virtual 7.1 Channel" - the closest your going to get to 7.1 on a phone.

Not to hear a difference, you don't. Have you honestly not ever heard of virtual surround on stereo speakers? It's been around since the 5.1 days. It sounds no where near as good as having actual surround sound hardware but there is a big difference in sound. Naturally if you prefer it is dependent on you but there IS a difference. As I stated earlier, I found it to be an improvement for movies but not music.

Volume+ Sound Boost for Gingerbread
Download: Here
Credits: MeltusI've tested it and it's increased the speaker volume drastically without reducing sound quality. It's great for streaming music, radio, live scanner feeds and stuff. It makes the loudspeaker LOUD. Works on my custom ROM (See it in my signature).
Thank you so much!!!!!

BETA Version (1.61 whatever)
Speaker Phone:
Speaker Modifications: ON
EQ Settings: GOOD QUALITY
Volume Level: FIVE OR SIX
Bass Enhance: OFF
i ran it on cm7 made NO difference at all ... not a tinny bit :S
Works on CM7 here, stock kernel.
Just a question for you guys: have you come across a volume/equalizer app that works on a speakerphone call? I've gotten Volume+ and DSP Manager to work on everything except for when the phone is in speakerphone mode. I was hoping to reduce the "tinnyness" of callers with a treble reduction and midrange boost.
Can something similar be done with the headphone jack? I use it often to connect to my car stereo and even at max volume it's not very loud.
Well it seems to have solved MY problem, which was low volume on the ringtones - I was missing calls, with the phone in my pocket - beyond that, I didn't fiddle around with the settings.
Thanks much!
-Mike
should we restart after applying settings? i rely find no difference at all . som1 can explain me why?

Sound is very bad when recording.

Anyone have an idea why the sound is so scratchy when recording in a nightclub?
Isnt there any limitations on the microphone?

Give HiFiCorder a try. There's a free trial version. If that works, consider buying the full version. I've never tried it in a loud environment, so can't comment whether it'll work for you.

if you want..... you can buy creative earphones....

this one, is the best earphone out of all earphones i have used...
@ OP
the bundled earphone is good enough in term of bass, do not let the sound leak by using appropriate size of eartip with thm and it could get you enough amount of bass...
btw which earphone were you using before this ??
PowerAMP iz teh bestz! :-D

Try them with voodoo sound ! Really good sound!
I agree, the headphones included are pretty much trash, compared with my CX870 they sound terrible. I know these are expensive, but any good headphones for about 20-40$ will sound better and probably last longer. I'm in love with sennheiser, the cx200 can be found for 20$ and they sound really good too for the price.
Yes !! the Effect is really good when used in Power AMP, but when compared to my Nokia N8 ear phones, its bad.
I also have a i9000 phone and its earphones look identical as the provided by the i9103. Except for the jack, which stripes are white instead of black. The i9000 ones sound way better that the i9103.
They are also incompatible, I mean, I can't swap them. Using Voodoo on both phones.

[Q] Does anyone know of a Rom that is best for bluetooth headphones?

so i just bought the Jaybird Bluebud x bluetooth headphones, and they have amazing sound quality on my iPhone but when i switched them over to my galaxy s3, the sound quality wasn't as good, it was all grainy and stuff, i am currently using ParanoidAndroid 3+ as my daily driver i tried all different equalizers on the play store and it helped a little but it still wasnt that good, so my question is does anyone know of a good EQ or ROM that works good with bluetooth headphones? wired headphones sound great its just the bluetooth.

what would be the best touchwiz rom in your opinion? ive had bad luck with the Synergy Rom, the one where they changed the lockscreen to all blue for better unlock, it always slowed down for me after 15 days or so were it would take forever to unlock and open apps, and could name the top 3 that you like,
Cleanrom is the only one I stick with really.

Nexus 5 Audio/Sound (DAC) Quality

Hi,
Could someone give some feedback on the sound quality of the Nexus 5, any idea what sort of DAC the phone is using? Is it using something similar to the LG G2 as that has the same chipset.
Thanks
I think the Snapdragon 800 uses the same awesome audiochip feom qualcom as the other Snapdragon 600 devices. But we have to test this out..
I'll test it with my ciem as soon as it arrives

I am no audio expert but I was listening to music last night on headphones and was very impressed with the quality of sound. It was just about loud enough which was my main worry. Bass was very good too. I was not using stock music player as I use a Synology media server and was therefore using DS audio. I just need to get a decent graphic equaliser installed as I can't find one on the phone. Any suggestions?

You need to use DS audio? Else you could use the jetaudio player or neutron.
If you need a systemwide one, what about dsp manager from cyanogen? I think they'll soon got a ROM up for the N5.
Please someone knows what is the nexus 5 DAC?
it's WCD9320. The same one as in G2
Just keep in mind that if the Soc is Snapdragon S4, regardless the generation, there is always a very good DAC inside .

If that was true shouldnt that be in the specs of the nexus 5. Theres no mention of the dac on the spec sheet so i wouldnt be so confident.

This is actually a Snapdragon 800 which is better than what the S4 and the HTC one has. To my knowledge, only the Galaxy note III and LG G2 have the same SoC in the states
If the SoC is Snapdragon 800 then it already has WCD9320 integrated, which is a very good DAC.
Hence WCD9320 is 100% confirmed, unless LG is crazy and stupid, and they solder another DAC on the board.
Actually, the amplifier matters more, and affects a large portion of sound quality.

Viper4Android is the way to go!
according to the service manual for the nexus 5 the DAC is indeed the WCD9320. so same as in the G2.
from listening to it its better than the nexus 4 but not as good as the woflsons in the S3 but still very decent.
Listen to some city and color and you will enjoy the speakers and any headphones you plug in .

does the N5 support audio thru usb OTG so we can use external DAC/AMP? I've read sumwhere mention usb OTG in kit kat. However, this doesn't mean the nexus 5 support USB OTG nativly (like the N4).
I am somewhat underwhelmed with the audio quality on the N5,unlike most I knew that the two grills on the bottom of the phone only one of which is a loud speaker,However the audio is IMO piss poor.via headphones its outstanding paired with my seneizer cx300II's (spelling) via the loudspeaker its very quiet and tinny, not to mentions the grills are VERY easily muffled. Just my two cents.
