[GUIDE] Lenovo P700 Root

IMPORTANT Info (read this before proceeding any further):
- Please back-up your system folder using any file manager (ES or file manager) before doing root. specifically the busybox file.
- Also, do a back-up of all your messages, contacts, call logs and apps using the Backup and restore application.
- Rooting your device will VOID its warranty.
- Download and use these files at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damages or failures that might happen to your PC or device.
What you need:
1. S2-4.0-root folder containing the root.exe. Download link* (Download this file and extract to your local drive. In my case I placed it on my drive D :\). By the way, This file was sourced from the MU forum.
2. USB Drivers (with ADB driver) here: Driver link.
3. ADB installed on your machine – see below.

1. Make sure that you can connect to your device via ADB before you continue rooting your beloved P700.

Root Proper:
Once you have verified that you can connect to your device using ADB, then follow the steps detailed below.
1. Connect your P700 (powered ON) to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
2. Open command prompt and type “ADB devices”. This should show a set of numbers corresponding to your device (see screenshot on top). If not check ADB topic above.
3. Browse to the location where you placed the S2-4.0 folder. Open it and run P700_ROOTv1.0.exe (WARNING: this action would immediately reboot your device) and follow the instruction on screen.
4. Wait until your device is ready.
5. Hit Enter and your device will reboot again. Follow the on screen instruction and wait until your device is ready.
6. Hit Enter when your device has completely restarted.
7. Now you will be prompted with the following line: uid=0 <root> gid=0<root> (follow the instructions next to it). In my case - id is 0. If not, try again and repeat the procedure as mentioned in the instructions.
8. Hit Enter again and your device will reboot for a third time and you will see the following lines: Remount succeeded….....
9. Once your device is completely restarted, hit Enter and the windowed root dialog will automatically close.
Your device should now be rooted.

How to check if you are rooted
1. Use ADB shell and check that you can run su.
2. Use Root checker (download from Google play store).
3. Use ES file explorer or any file manager to enable Root explorer and mount the system folder. If you don’t have any issue with these steps then your device is already rooted.

NOTES:
- The following files will be pushed to your system (Superuser, su , MobileUncle toolbox and RE Chinese).
- Root explorer (Chinese) will be installed on your device. You can opt to remove this app using Titanium backup.
- This process was tested on the current ROW(Rest of the World) build (P700_ROW_S108_120614), so I am not sure if this will work on other available builds out there.
- If you see or experience any issues, you can always do a factory Data reset (root will be preserved).

I have taken the P700_ROW_S113, cooked in some modifications (most importantly I replaced the kernel) flashed it on my Lenovo A750
It looks like it is working well. Which I expected, as the P700 is just the A750 with a different screen, but the screen is in the kernel. Just like the P700i seems to be the A789 with a different screen.
I did so in the hope of getting the ROW "Rest Of World" languages. However, it seems to only contain Vietnamese in addition to English and Chinese.
Do you know if this is normal for the ROW's? Or did I download one that has already been tweaked, not the original?

Hello cybermaus,
Unfortunately the P700 ROW version only have English, Vietnamese and Chinese on it. Maybe due to the reason that P700 ROW was only officially marketed on these areas.

But still the exercise was very useful. I now have a ROM as stable as the cleaned up A750, but even more cleaned up and better internationalized.

The swipe 3d life x74 tablet development thread!!! ( NOW DEV NOT SUPPORTED )
The really old and boring swipe tablet 3D life x74 tablet is no longer boring now as the root has been discovered.
This tab is pre rooted and has all the binary files setup correctly such as su and busy box
To check whether you have the binary files in the system follow this tutorial.
1) Download and install Xplore file manager from google play ( free)
2) open the app and go to system/xbin and check for busybox (maynot be present) and su (Should be Present). If they are present then the files are in corect order or position.
IF THE FILES ARE NOT PRESENT THEN SEE MY SECOND POST ON HOW TO ROOT YOUR SWIPE 3D LIFE TABLET * IF THE FILES ARE PRESENT THEN CONTINUE READING THIS POST
3) Now we know that the files are present, we install superuser app from google play by chainsdd (free)
4) now install root checker from google play (free)
5)Now open Root Checker and click check root. A popup will come and it will ask for root permissions, so click accept and after this the checker will show root is present. Yay now we have root perms.
6)now scroll to the right side screen and check for busybox. After confirmation you will be happy and you can party
AND THUS WE SUCCESSFULLY CHECKED AND INSTALLED ROOT AND SUPERUSER ON SWIPE 3D LIFE TABLET

2)Now plug in your tablet
NOTE:- First Switch ON the debuging Mode for this to apply
3)When it shows no drivers have been Installed, CLick on it, Open the uninstalled driver settings---> update Driver --> Browse for files on my computer --->Selected the driver folder you unpacked
4)There will be many notifications ( 1 or 2 ) just click yes or accept (whatever )
5) Voila your drivers will be installed accordingly

bro can anybody here help with the locked swipe 3d tab after unsuccessful pattern lock attempts? How to enter its stock recovery to factory reset? Tried vol+, vol-, both vol+ and vol- along with power button. But all in vain.

For getting root access
install the correct ADB drivers to ur computer for intex aqua flash using pdanet software
root intex aqua flash using (Root_script_by_Bin4ry_v17.zip)
Download and extract this zip file: http://www.mediafire.com/?wadbxnnxa8kf4b4
Enable USB debugging on your intex aqua flash . (Go to Settings > Developer Options > Check mark “USB Debugging” and then tap OK button
Now connect your intex aqua flash to your computer via USB cable. The drivers should be installed automatically (or use Pdanet to install drivers)
Go to the folder named “Root_script_by_Bin4ry_v17″ and run the “Runme.bat” file. This should open the command prompt
Choose the Normal mode by typing ‘1‘ and hit Enter button from your keyboard.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the intex aqua flash rooting process. Your intex aqua flash will reboot during the process after which Bin4ry will copy some files to your device.
When your phone is back ON, you should find the superuser SU app in your app drawer. If it’s there, your intex aqua flash have been root
For getting Clock Work Mod Recovery
Download the recovery.img file here Download Here
Transfer it to SD Card(put it in root of sd card)
Open mobile uncle MTK tools ,click update recovery and select recovery.img
Cwm recovery on ur device go to cwm either by combination buttons ( Volume + and Power) or through mobileuncle tool
Dont Forget to Backup before flashing
Note: Before doing a backup after ur in cwm go into backup and restore > then change backup format to tar, now do a backup before trying this rom

To Flash Rom
Download AquaFlash_miui_v5.zip and tranfer it to ur SD Card
wipe data/cache , then go to mounts and format system (just to be safe)
Flash Zip you put in sd card

Tips on using the ROM:
To charge normally (fast), turn off phone, plug charger, wait for a minute (till the charging animation goes off and phone is off again) and turn on phone. Now it will charge fast. This is the standard procedure for all JB ROMs. If you dont follow this, charging will be slow.
You need to turn auto-brightness off if the LED notification lights stay on even with screen is off!
Camera:
If you are not satisfied with the quality and performance of the stock camera app, use the bundled 'ICS Camera', or an app like 'Camera360 Ultimate' (free app from the play store). It will produce better quality images.
If you get a clicking sound when starting and closing camera, dont worry, read this
Superuser:
Before installing anything, first activate root permission from 'Permissions' app in 'Security ' folder. Select 'manage root permission' and enable it.
This only needs to be done once, and all superuser prompts will come as usual when you install/use root apps.
If you installed or tried to use any root apps before doing this, and your app no longer gets root access, reinstall that app. Also includes a custom hosts file, which you have the option to remove if you want to see ads.
Battery:
To see percentage battery indicator on the status bar, go to settings->battery and change the battery indicator style
Performance:
To make the UI transitions faster, you can use the good old standard tip:
Go to settings->developer options
Set 'window animation scale', 'transition animation scale' and 'animator duration scale' all to "0.5x". UI animations will seem twice as fast after doing this.
If the ROM becomes slow over time, do a reboot.
And try not to do a lot of stuff in the first few seconds when SD card scanning is going on, sync is going on or when apps are updating in the background. Its not right to complain of "this/that doesnt work" or lag when you do that

Known Issues
If SIM slot 1 is empty ( and slot 2 has a sim) then the signal will show as x but ull b getting network ( you can call msg recieve call and msgs viz only signal will b given as x else everything will work)
Dont do a factory reset from your miui for doing the same use cwm , cos factory reset wont work

Capturing OTA Update URL For Noobs (No logcat required)
Hi guys this thread is for those people who want to capture the link for OTA Update but do not know how to read logcat. This is a very easy process i have made which involves root,xposed module...and 5 min (To get the link of the OTA ofcourse download is going to take time depending upon the length of the OTA update data.
Many people can't read logcat and get confused by it in this method you have to just press buttons only and nothing more....
Requirement-
-Rooted Device
-ADB Drivers
-Xposed Module
-Url Snooper (Windows Software)
-Reverse Tethering (Windows Software/Android Companion Apps)
-Little to no brains....:silly:
Note- If the ADB Driver Does Not work you need to find the driver which is compatible to your device online.

Install Computer Software

2) After the installation you will notice another setup opens automatically which is the winpcap setup install that too-

Setting up the Device
Now you need to set up your device-
1) Make sure that your Device is rooted
2) Make sure your ADB is installed (If you don't know what adb is then check it online and also make sure that adb drivers are installed in you computer)
3) First install Xposed Framework (link Above)
4) Go into the app and tap the Framework button
5) Then tap the "Install/Update" button and reboot
5) Then install USB Tunnel and hack connect Service app
6) After that again go inside the Xposed Framework and click the module button and then tick mark the hack connect service app (Don't click on the icon only click on the checkbox on the side

Preparing URL Snooper
Now you need to prepare the settings of URL Snooper such that you can use it to capture the right URL-
1)Start url snooper (In start Menu)
2) Now Go to files tab and click advance such that the interface would look like this
3) Now in the protocol filter change the show multimedia to show all.
4) You will see a lot of URL Click on clear results and then make sure none of your software are useing internet (Check background processes like utorrent also) also make sure none of your app in device is using internet also

Activating Reverse Tethering app
Now you download the reverse Tethering v3.19.zip file and extract it this software helps to transfer your internet connection from your computer to your device-
1) Connect the data cable from the computer to the device
2) Extract the zip and press the androidtool exe file
3) After that check that in the select a device section you will have something like 0123456789ABCDEF so but something must be there if not you don't have adb driver or your adb driver is incompatible. ADB Driver Link
4) Press the connect button and a script execution window shall popup
5) After which it would look something like this
Now to check open a browser and type any page a it should load and also a graph shall come under the download meter of the android reverse tethering software. Note- When you minimizse this app it minimizses in the system tray

Capturing Update Link
Now it is finally the time to capture the URL of the OTA Update.zip-
1) Just to be sure Again clear the results in the URL Snooper Software
2) Go to the the Update Location (It is mostly located in Settings->About tablet->Check for new version software) and press the download button after which it might ask you if you want to download through WLAN pres continue anyway button
3) The download will start
4) In the URL Snooper you shall see a new link associated with the GET zip protocol copy the link and paste it somewhere safe the close everything and download the zip file ( You can cancel the download in the device now if you want) GOOD LUCK
Note-i have heard somewhere that download accelerator like idm sometimes corrupt the download so be carefull.

Bonus Function
This post has nothing to do with the capturing the update but since these software are awesome i would like you to know all the awesome function of the software-
URL SNOOPER- This software can be use to detect all the url that comes into the computer from any software in the computer thus it can be used to download vedios that you might be playing or songs.(Use Multimedia filter)
The main reason i use this software is to download offline installer files of program. (In an online windows installer the setup first downloads the offline installer quietly in the temporary files folder located in the C drive and then deletes the file after the installation is completed) Some softwares do not provide offline installers so this is a nice way to leech the exe file and store it.
REVERSE TETHERING- This software can be used to provide internet connection to your device from you computer (Its usefull when you have a fast internet port but no wifi modem) you can use this to update apps browser net etc.....etc

How to improve root success rate with Kingroot PC (Almost all devices) (2.x-6.0)

Hello everyone.
I found out how to improve root success rate. This was done on my brother's phone Sony Xperia E4 (latest firmware) after many failed attempts.
Disable Driver Signature Verification (Windows 8/10 only!):
[*]Go to advanced boot and disable driver signature check. TUTORIAL
Disable Antivirus, Firewall and Cleaner apps:
Disable Antivirus + Firewall on your computer. If you are using Comodo, please uninstall it. It still block some programs even it is disabled.
Turn off or uninstall Antivirus and cleaner app on your Android device
[*Turn off or uninstall Task manager on your Android device
Close all running Android emulators
Disconnect other devices from your computer
On your device, open Google Settings from app drawer, -> Security -> and disable "Scan device for security threads"
Unlock developer options and enable USB debugger on your device:
On your device, go to Settings > About phone and look at the "Build number".
Tap on the "Build number" many times until it says "You are now a developer!"
Go back to settings, scroll down, and go to "Developer options"
Enable "USB-debugging"
Ready? Let's start rooting your device:
On your PC, download ADB driver (Universal): DOWNLOAD LINK
Connect your device to your PC
On your device, allow debugging/fingerprint (if asked)
Download KingRoot for Windows, and install it DOWNLOAD LINK
Open Kingroot, and let it check your device model
Now start rooting and let it run. Don't multitask something on your PC during root.
If Kingroot failed to root your phone, DO NOT PANIC!
Close Kingroot, open Task manager and make sure adb.exe and kingroot.exe are closed
Open Kingroot and re-root again
Kingroot should tell you that your phone is successfully rooted

Q: My device reboot serveral times during rooting, why?
* Kingroot have many root exploit methods to root almost all devices. If one of the root exploit failed to root your device, and not vulnerable, Kingroot will reboot your device and looking for other vulnerability (i'm not sure how it works)
This was done with Sony Xperia E4. The 4th vulnerability was found in that device and Kingroot was able to root it.
1. If the first exploit failed to root your phone and reboot, the message "your phone is not vulnerable" will appear, and Kingroot will try second exploit
2. If the second exploit failed to root your phone and reboot, Kingroot will try third exploit.
3. If the third exploit failed to root your phone and reboot, Kingroot will try fourth exploit.
4. Kingroot successfully rooted my device.
Q: My device freezing during root at %50-60, why?
I'm not really sure why it happen on some devices. Please do the following:
1. DO NOT CLOSE KINGROOT
2. Hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device
3. Turn on your device, and Kingroot will resume
Q: Root failed. What to do?
Never Get Pissed! Take a deep breath. If still feel pissed, take a deeper one. Try again.
Remember. If you have updated your firmware to the latest version via OTA (Over The Air), you have less root success rate.
Make sure Google security and Anti-virus is disabled on your device
Q: Root succeed with no Kingroot installed?
Two causes may be:
There is some additional protection on your device. (Occurs often on carrier-specific models like AT&T, or Manufacturers like HUAWEI)
Something goes wrong with Kingroot.
There is no easy fix on the first cause. As to the second, please try and manually install Kingroot application from kingroot.net.
Q: /system partition is still Read-only.
Probarly the kernel that protect /system partition from bricking. I don't know how to fix it. You should try root your device again to see if you get Read-write in /system partition
Is Kingroot malware? Why detected by antivirus software as malicious?
The answer to this question may appear to be "he says what he says...". As stated before, the core of Kingroot rooting your device is through exploiting system vulnerabilities/security loopholes, which is and will always be "dangerous" to antivirus softwares. But in turn, using Kingroot to root your device is your choice, and you are the one to employ these "dangerous" vulnerabilities, not being threatened by them. So rest assured.
Q: Kingroot tells me that i don't have internet connection (WiFi error icon). How do i do?
1. Close KingRoot
2. Open Task Manager
3. End process of adb.exe and kingroot.exe

I am the user that originally found that running apps in the background helped KingRoot achieve root with higher success rate.
My original test was using a game "CounterSpy" and game console emulator app "PPSSPP". I ran the game Final Fantasy Type-0 in the PPSSPP emulator along with the CounterSpy game. Root was achieved within 2 attempts.
Fast forward to today (after many many tests). My original device was broken during testing. I have purchased a new device and run 3 phone benchmark apps along with KingRoot.
Antutu, Quadrant, and Geek Bench. Ran all 3 apps, ran KingRoot, phone rebooted once. No root yet. Force Stopped KingRoot from Settings (did not clear cache or data), ran 3 apps again and KingRoot. Phone Root Success.
One thing that you need to keep in mind. If your phone has a built in Task Manager app, you need to go into Settings > Apps > All > [Task Manager] and FORCE STOP it before trying to run those apps and KingRoot.
If you do not, the Task Killer will try to close those programs as you leave them to run another. Thus, the app will not be loading the system with tasks, ultimately not helping.
Your task killer might be named different on your device. It varies from manufacturer (Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc.)
All this was done on my ZTE Zmax. I have also attempted this on a Moto E (XT830C - Tracfone model) and it did not work.
I can not explain with facts as to how or why this works. It was only a theory that proved to be effective.
It can be very hit or miss. All you can do is try.
