Depending on what you think is cheap, take a look at the Nexus 7. You could probably get a 2012 version for cheap

Hello,
I want to buy a smartphone but I don't know which one to get.
Lately I have seen those cheap smartphones, such as the ZTE Blade.
Are those phones any good or I should look at something else such as HTC?
I am a programmer and i want to start learning android development.
HTC seems to be pretty popular in the dev community

Choose a HTC, because they have a lot of custom roms so your new device is even better. How much do you want to pay for a smartphone?
Tbo-art
I was thinking about 420-480$
I found zte blade for 200$

What do you think about this one:
http://www.htc.com/www/product/wildfire/overview.html
The ZTE Blade definitely has one of the best features for the price point.
However, you should also consider if you're buying the phone for long term or short term while you learn about Android development.
The ZTE Blade may lack some features that you want/need when you develop an application.
A friend of mine has it, but i don't like the screen and the resolution...

What do you think about the HTC Wildfire
it's like a cheap version of htc desire, with less features and worse screen

It is, but if you can afford a HTC Desire you should buy that one.

There are a number of good threads in this and the Q&A forums that are much more eloquent than I could ever be, but yeah, I have barely (and then, only reluctantly) put my Xoom down in the month and a half since I got it. It's so easy to unlock and root and there's a lot of development happening for this tab. Plus, it's built like a tank.

Thats it..There was something at this gadget that i love but cant put my finger on it.
But you said it for me. Its like a tank!! Like they built it for the army or something. And its a fast one

I know I'll probably get stick for this but these threads really bother me. There are probably 50 of them going right now. Just take the time to look at the ones that are already open, my guess is you'll learn more about the Xoom than just starting another "Why should I buy the Xoom" thread.
because it's rad and you're a geek.
ok ok. Still have 1 week to decide.
yes I'm a geek And i really like tanks.
it was this one or the Galaxy tab 10.1.
I think as long as you stick with one of the android tabs you can't go wrong. In my opinion it blows other tablets out of the water, so far as user community, and potential for development.

Galaxy tab 10.1 is like a plastic toy soldier, well all plastic really, and the ONE magic do-all propietary port. hurray!! Xoom has micro-HDMI, micro-USB with host mode, and the charging port wich is the same as nokia's but on a different voltage...
And yes there are plenty of threads like yours around you should read them or you might get the gods, trolls, orks, rats and critters upset.
Because ipads and OVERATED! Simple.
you should buy a xoom because i bought one...Nah
Because android is freedom.
hello there, im looking for a decent android tabelt for under $200. i want it to run at least 2.2, so that it will have flash. and would like it to be a capacitive screen. does anyone know of a tablet out right now that fits the bill?
ive seen the HP tablet is only $99 dollars, but it runs some weird OS, which im guessing is why its so cheap..
anyone have any ideas?

The touchpad was 99$ because they shut the production down.
Its an awesome OS named Webos which sadly not is supported anymore and has a lack of apps.
http://hotmid.com is the seller for Chinese tablets and phones. there might be something there. but be careful.
Oh and about flash. it doesn't only depend on the android version. it depends on the Processor too. ARM 6 \ 11 are not supported. everything else (above 1ghz) probably will support flash.
Budget <200 bucks, yep, I'm afraid there are not so many options for a decent tablet from top brands. Yes, china tablets would match this budget, but it's a little annoying to choose a china tablet due to same specs. and unbranded models. But you can search on the following comparison site, http://www.shopsimple.com/tablet-laptops-and-notebooks_c080706/android-2.2_a75.html Found tons of china tabs are listed out there, and this site help you to compare and find the most suitable one. Quite useful.
is is worth getting a tablet under 200 when you can get the xoom for 350?
All decent Android tablets are > $200.... did you mean < $200?

Where can you get a xoom for 350? Searched a round but can't find that price.
Searched a lot around the web, noticed several options of Xoom for about 350 bucks, but only on ebay and it's refurbished. Any one would like to go with the refurbished Xoom?
I imagine there are a good number of people like me that have received a Shield over the holidays. Was wondering if anyone could give some tips or advice on what to do first when using the device. For example, should we not update if we would like to root, install custom recovery, etc? I have yet to even power mine on just because i want to be sure I can root mine. Any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks.
Was considering purchasing the shield myself recently but there doesn't seem much of a community or development for this device which is a great shame. Would be great to see some mods and custom roms for it

The Nvidia Grid is pretty sweet and works well. At least for me so far. Plus its free til June of next year. If you can get a shield portable for a good price, i think it makes it worth it. Got mine for $130 at Frys Electronics. Had them price match Gamestop.

A first advice would be buying a Samsung tablet, I think they're the best at making tablet, but for root samsung device aren't really convenient so it's up to your priorities
Needs to be easily rooted android tablet. If samsung was easily rooted i would have went for that.
Check a Xiaomi Tablet, Mi Pad 4 Plus.
