A first advice would be buying a Samsung tablet, I think they're the best at making tablet, but for root samsung device aren't really convenient so it's up to your priorities
Needs to be easily rooted android tablet. If samsung was easily rooted i would have went for that.
Check a Xiaomi Tablet, Mi Pad 4 Plus.

Depending on what you think is cheap, take a look at the Nexus 7. You could probably get a 2012 version for cheap

Specs would tell you to buy the Note 10, more so if you have a couple of Samsung products at home AND intend to keep most of Samsung's functionality (ahem! bloatware). Even more so, If you intend to root the thing, you'll have a powerful machine without the crap Samsung puts on it, and built-in pencil... Samsung products are made to be rooted and delivered from bloatware... unless you need all of the features.
Versatility and inputs/wired connectivity (with the kb on) would probably go to the Asus transformer, but in some ways one could think that tablets are better off without keyboards, and that a number of inputs and wired connectivity are meaningless in most modern environments. Still it is an amazing product by itself, too.
If you're familiar with rooting the device, then I guess the biggest argument for the Nexus, a Pure Google experience out of the box and early upgrades on stock ROM, don't matter much. In this aspect, add in the lack of SD support, and the Nexus can suddenly appear like an aggravating choice.
But I think that in essence, all three are basically the "same product", in respect that each should be as fast and enjoyable as the others. I also think that this market is laid out in an obvious way : if you take the time to think about what you intend to do with it, what you need, and compare all three offers, one will rise above the others. And if it's concern of buying a lemon, or the "wrong" product, that's stopping you, then rest assured that you are looking at the top of the market, and all three products can satisfy just about any user.
Thanks, great response! Anyone else?
Well, it was of little help, but at least it is an answer...
But I just found this, and I think it could explain why nobody else cared to answer so far :

Nexus isn't mentionned by the OP, otherwise it's what you were looking for to begin with.

My pleasure man! Great choice by the way...
I imagine there are a good number of people like me that have received a Shield over the holidays. Was wondering if anyone could give some tips or advice on what to do first when using the device. For example, should we not update if we would like to root, install custom recovery, etc? I have yet to even power mine on just because i want to be sure I can root mine. Any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks.
Was considering purchasing the shield myself recently but there doesn't seem much of a community or development for this device which is a great shame. Would be great to see some mods and custom roms for it

The Nvidia Grid is pretty sweet and works well. At least for me so far. Plus its free til June of next year. If you can get a shield portable for a good price, i think it makes it worth it. Got mine for $130 at Frys Electronics. Had them price match Gamestop.
I'm looking at going back to Android for my phone. The last Android phone I had was the HTC EVO. It has been that long.
I currently have a nexus player and nvidia shield tablet. So I have still been using android just not as my phone.
So the question is which phone is the best to go with? The s7 edge, nexus 6p or one plus 3.
I would like to stick with 5.5-5.7 screen and ability to do VR and stream games via moonlight.
So any advise?

Hmm... I have a galaxy s6 and love it. I would recommend nexus or galaxy.
Something important is that DO NOT buy a cheap brand! The specs might look good but the performance is terrible

Are you referring to the One Plus?
Doesn't it take forever to get Android updates on the Galaxy?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, it's hard to say. It depends completly how you want to use your device
Its true Samsung uses a lot if time on updates expecially if you are outside us and UK. But Samsung dedicates itself to the update trying to make it as stable as possible before releasing
I have never had that as a problem, the updates are very minor. Even from Lollipop to Marshmallow I saw very few changes. I would recommend you to do a Google search on the best android phones!
I'm not sure what I feel about nexus, on one hand Google is very good at quality, but on the other hand they are fighting strongly against root etc. So I gotta feeling it's only getting harder and harder to customize the phone
There's a dedicated thread for such questions here,

Many opinions to be had there, so I'll close this thread. :good:
Hey people I'm looking for a phone, that is super easy to root ?Also must have an high end music processor, also would prefer oled display. Sammy is my top choice, Motorola second, Sony third. see the thing is i use a Tab S LTE 8.4 as my daily driver and it is a bit big it does get in the way of things
I do own a Samsung galaxy S8+ but I don't wanna root that as its pretty awesome the way it is, stock does kind of rock. I'm after viper 4 android on the phone so what would you recommend and why ? Thanks
Well The J Series Must Be What you are looking For.I Use an old J7 and gt-i9060i as Guinea Pigs to Test Things You wouldn't Do.Bought the J7 for about 200$ on Olx from a Guy.It's a Nice Device Amoled Good With Battery And Got A Few Roms that Could Turn.
But If you are looking for A Great Time.Nexus 6P has got the Best Devolper For Mods,ROMs and Stuff.
I am Going to Barter J7 with My Cousin for a Nexus 6P.

Pixels are good to go for modding since they come with the pure AOSP from google and devs wont face problems developing for these device, i prefer you take a look at the spcs yourself to see if it fits you

Google(Nexus/Pixel) devices are usually the wisest choices for those that absolutely must have root and/or custom recovery/ROMs because they are easy to unlock/root and/or flash and usually get custom development sooner and more diverse than other devices.

Go for Google pixel and Nexus devices. They are easy to root and modding. You can easily get custom roms, recovery and kernel.
Would highly recommend Nexus 6P

Maybe it's just me but I like the N6 better than the N6P. Pixel is much better.
