Hi, I'm a complete noob at this so help is appreciated. I rooted my Epic 4G and have been playing around with custom ROMs. I flashed the Quantum ROM manually using clockworkMod v2.5.1.0, and the phone wouldn't get any service and took FOREVER to scan media on the SD card so I tried to restore to a previous backup also made manually. It seemed to restore ok, but when trying to boot it would get stuck on the screen with "Samsung" in large white text and the website "www . samsungmobile . com" (without spaces) directly below it.
I tried wiping the cache, and then a factory reset with clockworkmod to no effect. Every time I try to restore to backup I get the following:
Checking MD5 sums...
Restoring system...
Restoring data...
.android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/.android_secure.
Restoring cache...
sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext/..
Restore complete!
I then select reboot system now, which results in the same screen. I hear the usual boot music play, but the screen never changes. Please help a confused newbie!!!
Follow the process in this post to restore to stock...

This would seem to be the best path if clockwork isn't getting you anywhere.
from there I would re-root and then apply the recovery

When you're flashing the new 2.2 roms, you need to make sure you have also flash the appropriate modem as well using odin. With Quantum rom, you will need to flash the DK17 modem in order to get your phone to work properly. Instructions on how to odin DK17 modem can be found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849753
Additionally, when trying to restore your phone, I would suggest doing a full wipe. I was having similar issues restoring a back-up, and it would hang-up on the samsung screen. Wiping seemed to fix this problem.
Thanks for the help! I used Odin to restore my phone to stock and it's been working since. I appreciate the help.
After flashing customs ROM, my phone IMEI started showing wrong IMEI number. With SN tool, I wrote the correct IMEI number. However, when I do factory reset, again the old wrong IMEI appears.
Any inputs or solution for this?

Most likely your EFS partition has been corrupted by the ROM flash. It happens with custom ROMs.
I hope for your sake you made a complete nandroid backup before messing with other ROMs than the stock one...
You can try flashing back a stock ROM, sometimes it solves the problem. You can then flash a TWRP recovery then use it to backup critical system partitions (to an external SD card preferably. Flashing custom roms often erases the internal storage), then you can start messing around.
Hello,
I was flashing Resurrection ROM on my Mi4i device and due to problems I decided to restore the nandroid backup and it worked on the first time..Next day i tried PACMAN ROM and due to same problems i again tried to switch to nandroid ...But now it wont work, when i try restoring it suddenly an error stats "E:Unable to find file system (First period)"? and recovery(TWRP) starts working for further restoring process and an error stats saying RESTORE FAILED on the top and "E:extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255" at the end of process...I've tried reflashing recovery and recopying backup from my pc..but nothing helped

Hi, I have a J500FN stuck in bootloop, in recovery mode there's the message "dm-verification failed" and when I try to flash TWRP via odin , I get a "FRP lock". I can flash the stock firmware to revive the device AFAIK, but I really need to backup the data (pictures & contacts that aren't backed up in cloud).
All this hell is caused by a Mobile go backup that my friend tried to do, the app rebooted the device initially, then started to bootloop. Any solution to backup or restoring to normal the device without wiping data? I just really need a way to boot up the device and backup the data, so I don't really need the device to work flawlessly (maybe a dirty flash?).
Hy friends
I have J7 2016 SM-J710F
First i installed twrp, the issue is error when backup and wiping.
Try many time keep failed.
Because my phone infected mallware so i flash to this rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ment-and-mods/rom-stock-elite-j710xx-t3668770
After flashing and reboot, there is alert "Kernel is not seandroid enforcing" at left rigt screen.
Then it show verification failed and ask to reset, but twrp keep failed to reset.
What to do ?
Please help
Thank you very much
EDIT : SOLVED
All i did is go to WIPE PAGE and do FORMAT DATA
The Rules On Installing TWRP Is OEM UNLOCK. And you missed that. And after install TWRP You Must Do FORMAT DATA, THIS WILL DELETE ALL YOUR DATA. The Solution Is Flash Stock Firmware
