[Q] Invalid / Wrong IMEI number - General Questions and Answers

After flashing customs ROM, my phone IMEI started showing wrong IMEI number. With SN tool, I wrote the correct IMEI number. However, when I do factory reset, again the old wrong IMEI appears.
Any inputs or solution for this?

Most likely your EFS partition has been corrupted by the ROM flash. It happens with custom ROMs.
I hope for your sake you made a complete nandroid backup before messing with other ROMs than the stock one...
You can try flashing back a stock ROM, sometimes it solves the problem. You can then flash a TWRP recovery then use it to backup critical system partitions (to an external SD card preferably. Flashing custom roms often erases the internal storage), then you can start messing around.

Lost IMEI changing recovery

Hi
Quick question I was changing recovery I was on TWRP and decided to change to philz cwm I flashed it booted phone and there was no IMEI in status. I then decided to reflash TWRP which fixed my IMEI I am confused why it would do this, any info on this would be appreciated.

Bad cache partition probably. Flashign a recovery wont "break" your IMEI and teh fact that ti came back means it ws never broken but sometimes when the /cache partition goes bad, IMEI appears to be lost. Usually formatting or fastboot flashign cache.img fixes that

I too have the same issue. I've reverted everything back to stock, flashed cache.img, flashed latest stock image directly from Google, and still 0 for IMEI. Nothing seems to fix this.

[Q]PDS partition, TWRP backup/restore

I was in stock 5.0.
Did a backup in TWRP, with PDS included.
After trying CM12 I did a restore, including PDS also.
After bootanimation the phone activity and motorola.system activity give force close.
Also, my IMEI isnt't shown in bootloader (getvar imei).
I don't know if I shouldn't restored PDS, or it was corrupted at the backup.
PS: I flashed and booted CM12 without SIM card, it matters?

Does flashing CWM/TRWP wipe data?

I've found a Galaxy S6, but it's got a SIM-pin and phone pincode.
Now I wan't to flash a custom recovery so I could remove this pin and check if I could backtrack the user.
So I don't want the flash to remove the phone's data. Does flashing CWM or TWRP erases this data?
Nope, flashing new recovery doesn't erase data
i suggest before doing anything to the phone remove the sim card to see who the provider is.
Give them a call proving the number on the sim card, they maybe able to give you the name of the owner.

Xperia M2 Dual IMEI null after flashing custom rom fix??

I didn't knew that flashing a custom rom will wipe the IMEI, I do not made any backup during flashing. I flashed slim rom using TWRP and I came to know that Sim Card not detected. And when I check for IMEI by dialing *#06# I got result like
IMEI: null
IMEI: null
Then, I searched in stackoverflow, and https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/d6633-imeinull-1-min-imei-appears-t3169108 says its possible to remake the corrupt IMEI, As this post Mr. unmaskedfalesh has mentioned that it can be done with flash tool.
Things I have tried:-
1) Relocked Bootloader and repair with Sony PC Compansion
2) Emma Firmware Update
3) Flashtool .ftf file with just ticking wipe Data, Wipe Cache and Wipe APPSLOGS
When I press unlock bootloader in flashtool MY IMEI number is showing.. && IMEI Also detecting in EMMA
Please help me.. ?Thank you in advance...
