I just made the switch from a Lumia 900 to the 1020 and came across this problem. When streaming music from my 1020 to my car the phone does not send any song info to the car. All previous versions of windows phone did this. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing? Also the quality of the audio seems to be reduced. Anyone else with a similar experience?

hey guy,
I'm having problems getting this thing to work properly, i've searched and searched and can't seem to find anyone else with this problem:
Device pairs fine and seems to function perfectly as a handsfree, however, using media player the audio comes out of the phone even as the 'click' sound effects are coming out the headset! Can't seem to get any audio from media player or core player to come out the headset, the 'htc streaming media player' uses the headset but you can't open files etc using that.
I've tried with WM5 and WM6, same results.
Anyone faced this problem before?
Hi
I've just purchased this headset last week and am thoroughly impressed by it so far. There's not much info on it out there but theres a few characteristics I've found out about this headset; i wonder if you can help me confirm them.
- It seems like when you take the headset off your head it automatically turns off? at first I thought mine was faulty but this behaviour was quite consistent and I figured it was just a power saving feature.
- seems like it likes to turn by itself if idle quite fast.
- need to manually set the device as hands free for it to actually work as a hands free
- unable to use the mic when connecting to pc. I wanted to use it for my sip client on the pc but alas the microphone function doesn't register? What should I be doing to make this work?
In regards to your problem; I'll outline the steps I take to use mine.
1. turn on headset
2. turn on trinity bluetooth from comm manager
3. go to bluetooth settings from settings
4. touch and hold down the nokia bh501 item until the drop down menu appears ,then select "set as wireless audio" or similar
--> you should hear a sound, if you can hear this then it will work, if theres nothing
--> alternatively, select hands free if you want to use it as hands free!
5. open your favorite mp3's and it should work fine.
Does this work for you? Btw im using Mun's TE wm6 rom. What rom are u using?
Eureka!
Your post made me realise I had only tried the headset with AAC files and not MP3 and guess what? The headset only works with MP3 files! Although this is probably a limitation of the trinity.
I can also confirm it doesn't work with nerodigital video files.
I'm using the GPS enabled WM5 Ship ROM.
I'll do some more tests on different media files, it would be a real shame if we're limited to only MP3s...
EDIT: Wow the sound quality is amazing and the bass is fantastic!
I haven't tried playing AAC files because I haven't got any...I specifically converted all my formats so I could use GS player. I'm pretty sure the headset can play WMA as well..I haven't really tested...
The next thing I notice is this constant high pitch ringing or hissing sound...It's very uncomfortable.
I've seen reports of this all over the forum in regards to the Triity, let's hope there is a fix available soon.
wma file work.
i have wm6 and a motorola ht820 and it works great. the only thing is that the perfomance of the trinity decrease while i'm using the bluetooth-headset.

Hi guys.
I want to buy a new head unit for my car in the next time.
My requirements are quality audio, mp3 via USB and/or SD card, nice and simple look, multiline display AND bluetooth handsfree set.
So I am very interested in this car stereo: Kenwood KDC-BT61U but its not working with ANY Windows Phone 7!!
I tried it with my HTC HD2 WP7 7740, HTC Titan and Nokia Lumia 800.
It looks like that most of the car stereos still dont support WP7.
For now it was only pairing with ALPINE CDE 126BTi. Its a good quality car stereo - no doubt about it - but its just crappy looking.
Is there any chance to change registry or something to enable some other bluetoth protocols or I dont know what else to get it working?
Kenwood said that they THINK to work on an firmware update... ok I think everybody knows what that means...
Thank you!

I haven't had any problems pairing bluetooth with the ones I tried and I haven't heard of other people having issues either. Now if you're trying to use Zune support on the stereo (don't have time to look right now but I know I've seen it before), I can't help you. Bluetooth audio won't be as good of a quality as using a cable connection but it does give you the ability to skip forwards and backwards from the head unit.
I just got a new lexus and it works fine. At plays whatever music I am playing on my phone
For me the handsfree communication is the most important thing.
When I was in that shop I saw a lot of devices showing up in the bluetooth list but only a few were car stereos.
I need a solution for my Kenwood if possible...
Those of you who have wp7 devices probably know you have to hack your phone in order to get a2dp working well, else the quality over bluetooth is just awful, and also a2dp will not work with videos. In case of videos the sound will switch to speak or wired headset, even while chatting over skype it will switch to speaker if you or the person on the other end turns on a camera.
I know that there is a thread here on how to tweak the registry on windows phones, but I'm not interested in that. I am considering a wp8 device, and would like to know if high quality stereo bluetooth works out of the box this time around(and also for video files)
Does anyone here have a wp8 phone and a stereo bt headset to try it out? If you do try it out, could you post your impressions?
Thanks!
P.S.
I'm posting here since I'm unable to post in the wp8 forums due to me being a newbie here. Mods, sorry for extra work if you need to move this thread.
Hello all... Hoping to get some help for my unlocked AU Oppo R7plus f handset with ColorOS 2.1.1. I have a new car with Android Auto, and my phone doesn't seem to function correctly.
I've enabled developer mode to enable USB debugging which allowed my handset to be detected by my car but the audio quality is distorted using Android Auto. It isn't streaming audio quality I am referring too - all google and navigation commands and music stored on my phone have the same issue.
Its not the car or the USB cable as I've tested my Samsung and Apple handsets and they work with my car.
What else can I try?
Can you safely uninstall ColorOS and install Android Marshmallow instead? I'd need guidance
Any idea on when ColorOS 3.X will be released?
Thanks in advance!

I have exactly the same issue.
I have come across this issue on updating my car radio to one that is Android Auto compatible (Hyundai i30 GD-03 radio). My phone is an Oppo R7sf ColorOS 2.1.0i, Android 5.1.1.
'All' music, voice directions, Google assistant, youtube audio come through with a horrible distortion with the original signal barely audible beneath. The distortion is a short transient produced every 43ms (approx 23Hz).
I initially thought it could be some sort of electrical interference issue (but surely the USB audio is digital?). In experimenting with audio played through Android Auto via Black Player, I came across some songs on my phone that would play perfectly!
Looking at the 'good' and 'bad' song files in detail, it became obvious that all of the distorted (bad) songs were 44.1kHz sample rate. Other files with sample rates of 96kHz and 48 kHz played perfectly.
Which now makes me think this is a software issue with my phone. I tested with my wife's Samsung Galaxy S5 and it worked perfectly.

Hi celoxocis, I am unsure. My R7S is currently stock (it is my day-today phone). I COULD try and install Lineage, although currently don't want to risk bricking anything (small chance I know). So I'm PROBABLY going to get a new phone at some stage. So then I'd be able to test out LineageOS
I'm on 8.1 dp2 in hopes of a fix but it doesn't seem to have helped. My Bluetooth audio skips once every song or two and it's super frustrating while in my car. I've tried disabling WiFi and Bluetooth scanning and adjusting the codec options but nothing seems to work? Anyone else with this issue or a solution? I just received wireless earbuds so I'll test those to make sure it's not my stereo but my s8 had worked fine...
Ok say my new ear buds are Bluetooth 5 and I haven't noticed a single skip yet. My stereo is only 3 so maybe that has something to do with it? As far as I can find however there are no current bt5 stereos so I'm not sure what the issue or solution would be...
Enable the developer options. You can choose between sound quality and connective stability. You can also lower the sampling rate to 44100kHz. In a word, reduce the data transferring rate. I think these might help.
I did all of that and have tried all the options

I have had this problem cropping up on various Toyota forums with the root cause being the automotive entertainment systems. It appears that most newer systems are still based on 2008/9 technologies which only have a limited ability to buffer the B/T audio. I'm not suggesting that this is your car but I thought it is worth mentioning.
Ive got a Sony stereo I put in myself haha it's relatively new
