Was running 2.3.5 TPC ROM no problem. Then one day my phone started doing restarts, one or two times a day, and gets hot. Since then my wifi will not turn on. in settings it says error. I have restored nandroid backup, it worked for a day, and wifi quit working again. Then I installed SKY_ICS but no luck. Phone works perfectly, but wifi is not working.
Any idea is it hardware problem or software?

Have you tried Wifi Fixer in Google Play?

That's what I did. Just installed stock non rooted ATT ROM. Still no luck with wifi. Everything else functioning perfect. Need to send for warranty repair, but one little problem. I have download counter set to 2. I can reset it with counter reset tool through CWM, but how can I flash stock 3e recovery back without tripping counter back to one?

Flash the counter tool via ODIN, restore to factory which will remove the recovery (CWM), then your good to go for a replacement. But first try restoring to factory to see if it solve the wifi issue.
No, wifi does not work with stock ROM. Phone is fully restored to factory condition. Just counter set to 2 downloads.
How do I flash counter reset tool with Odin? Is it possible?

Problem solved with counter. Flashed stock ROM, then flashed CWM via ODIN. Then installed reset tool zip in CWM, and flashed stock recovery in ODIN.
Now counter on 0, phone goes for warranty repair.

I have a rooted VZW maxx HD that I am trying to load safestrap on. I have read through multiple forums searched high and low and can't solve my issue. I can install v 3.05 on my phone. Click install recovery. Installation successful. Reboot and the safestrap boot screen never comes up. I am on stock rooted ICS by the way. Any help is appreciated. I want to install custom roms.

Yes I have spent hours on this phone. I am new to Motorola. Not as hard on HTC devices

I also had an issue with safestrap. I was running the JB leak and for some reason when restored root with Voodoo I never really got root back. I could gain root access with root explorer but all other apps including safestrap would not work. I had to use mattgrolfs utility to get back to stock
After I upgraded to the the newest Ota I installed safestrap again and it is now working fine. You might just want to start over and begin from stock.

I haven't taken any updates. I'm on stock ICS not the leak. Problem is when I reboot I never see the safestrap boot screen. I appreciate any pointers
That is weird. I also have the VZW Maxx HD with root and stock ICS. Safestrap installed without issues. I currently run my phone on one of the Rom Slots because zip updates are still disabled on the stock slot. Did you give it superuser permissions before rebooting the phone by opening the app?

Yeah I followed all steps. I hit grant SU permission when installed and reboot to the droid screen. I have uninstalled removed from phone reinstalled with the same result

If safestrap has been granted permissions through SU and you are still having issues, best thing to do IMO is just do factory reset and then reroot and install safestrap. That usually works for me.

was there ever a resolution to this?
I have a Razr M. I was running stock jb until today, when I
- factory reset
- rooted (successfully I think)
- installed safestrap 3.05 and “Installed Recovery”
however I can’t get any safestrap splash screen to show up on reboot. is there anything I need to do?
I have a stock/rooted GS3 4.1.1
This a.m, I came out and checked the weather on my phone (just looked at the lockscreen), and then swiped it to get to my home screen. After a minute or so (I hadn't done anything else... no apps or anything) it rebooted on its own... and got stuck in a boot loop.
I popped the battery out, put it back in, and it booted up normally... except I no longer have wifi AND it is unchecking my "stay awake" box everytime I reboot.
I hadn't done anything to change the phone which has been working very well for the past few weeks... my wife's S3 has wifi with no problem. We have no problem with a computer on wifi.
I've reset the router. And now I'm out of ideas.
Will a reprovision work? Will it take me back to 4.1.1 or do I have to go back to 4.0.4 and rebuild it back to 4.1.1?
Any other ideas?

Have you tried reflashing the kernel or perhaps just backing up, wiping, and doing a clean install?

I haven't. As a relative newby, by "reflashing the kernel" are you referring to reflashing the modem? All I've got is the OTA stock ROM, that I've rooted.
Is there something I should add to that?

The think of the kernel as something that helps the hardware communicate with the software. Try flashing the radio. If that doesn't work, back up and then use one of the one-click tars for the stock image. If thaaat doesn't work you may have faulty phone.

Didn't work.
I ran the tar file... which has the self-loading odin... and it really didn't change anything. Still no wifi.
I ran stock.vzw_root66.tar and it's stuck in a boot loop.
Try a repovision but make sure you flash the ICS boot chain before you go back to the ICS image. Hope it works! Sorry you're having issues.

Thanks for all your effort... I actually fixed it by booting into recovery, doing a full wipe, and then rebooting... got me back into 4.0.4 which got my wireless back... and then I did the OTA's from Verizon so now I'm back at 4.1.1.
Up and running... it's all good... so again, thanks for helping me out.

I have a droid maxx running stock rooted 4.4, and need to factory reset it or something similar, to totally reset everything. Does anyone know of a way to do this while keeping root? Thanks!
I've factory reset my rooted 4.4 Mini using Settings->Backup & reset. Reinstalled SuperSu after, still rooted.

Thank you so so much!!! You just saved me countless hours of extreme frustration and possibly even buying a new phone..
Hope it fixes your issue. Not as good as reflashing the system, but that will definitely make you lose root.

Sorry to say if it is an issue with the system factory reset does nothing except delete user data like apps etc. If its a system app it may fix the problem other than that it wont do jack to fix the problem. Thats why root persists only reason to FDR is if an app is acting up and you can't fix it. That is why we need the fxz to fix a system issue.

That sucks cause last night night xposed framework threw me in loop. I had to fxz 4.4.2 from my rooted, write protect off state. Now I lost root. Any way to get it back? If not damn, I'm in pain from a mistake.

So my friend just rooted his phone and decided to uninstall LG IMS (without knowing what it was). He was using Titanium Backup. He had made a backup for it and all. Now the phone is having issues and even though he tried restoring the app, it won't budge. Any trick to this? He has a locked bootloader and no recovery with TWRP or CWM installed (of which I told him to do before he deleted anything). Any way this can be fixed? If he does a factory reset from the settings menu, will it restore everything (including the IMS file) and be fine, or since it has been rooted, will that not do?
Or I guess is there any way to install a custom rom onto it so that that issue will be resolved since possibly the IMS will not be needed?
Is it possible to install autorec and have it restore to stock ROM?
