Hi all,
I really need to change my HTC TYTN II imei. Can anyone help me on this? Is there any software I can get from this forum to change my imei myself? Hope you all can guide me on this.
Changing your IMEI is seriously illegal in several countries.

Why you want to change imei, did you steal it,and you dont want the oparator tracking you.to change imei is ilegal.
Anything in this forum/site that is deemed illegal such as software or hacks will get you banned and the thread removed. Do you understand what the IMEI is used for? I can see if your device got hacked as many places such as Brazil had this problem with the TDMA/CDMA network. GSM is more secure but still not perfect. If you think you got hacked then loose the device and talk to your service provider right away as changing the International Mobile Equipment Identity will not help!
If you are on GSM and use a SIM card, most all wireless providers will not require you to register your IMEI. How many iPhones are in Canada on the Rogers network? And has Rogers nailed anyone for having one? Your SIM is what GSM networks use to ID you and your usage, not the phone. I would not be using an AT&T Tilt if IMEI would black list me from my provider and force me to use one of their (somewhat) outdated and poor selection of full featured phones...

I see an old NES Conrta fan here
I tried that and I still don't have unlimited lives.. er,... minutes on my phone
ya, still play it now and then. I was hoping someone would try this on their phone then post that's it's not working for them.
Which I then would have replied
you must first downgrade your rom to windows mobile 4.9
then upgrade your radio to version 1.66
remove your battery
reinsert your battery
try the code again
..hehe jokes

it wont work if you haven't unlocked first!!!
proevoguy, u must install hardSPL first
after that you must downgrade to WinMobile 4.7
, then search registry for IMEI
if you haven't install hardSPL, the key is hidden
mmm why is this thread is not locked??
lol
People want to change imei doesn't mean he/she is using a stolen phone. I want to change my imei just because I don't want AT&T to know I am using a PDA phone w/ their non-pda data plan

I was actually want the same thing because AT&t's plan for this phone is like 64.99 a month, which is just outrageous.
for those that care, i used an 8525 for 7 months before it broke and att never said a word about the fact that i didn't have a pda plan, when i took the phone in they asked if i wanted to register my new phone with them without changing my plan and it didn't cost me a dime, i was previously on a nokia 6030i as far as they knew

Same for me and Rogers. They had the Motorola 320, and Nokia 6820b in their database. Those 2 I got for next to nothing as I renewed my plan both times. The phone after those, I bought direct from HP as I was outsourced by them and got a good discount when buying the HW6955 (HTC Sable) through them and not Rogers (kept my old plan and the phone was factory unlocked too). Next is my current phone: AT&T Tilt, again bought the phone from some place other than Rogers and kept my old plan. If you got the phone for free or discounted, you will be forced into a new plan and the plan will always match the type of your phone. That is why you never buy from your cellphone provider. My 3 dollar internet plan I added long ago, only covered text based sites which matched my very old Motorola 320 So I axed that 3 dollar service from my plan. The guy was surprised to find out the last 2 phones were not on his list With what our providers have to offer for phones, Canada is way behind everyone else (can you say September for iPhone? And that is a maybe). Rogers added Tytn to their fleet of phones when everyone else was getting ready for the TyTN II. They still offer the original TyTn and still no plans for a Kaiser. We will get the Diamond but only after the rest of the world has warn them out. So in short: buy your phone in full and avoid a contract renewal. In the long run, you will still save money and avoid being put in their database.
yeah. It is very slow in Canada. However, I phoned Fido for their additional $7 dollars all you can browse service plan, it is required to registered your IMEI with Fido. Or I should said it this way, Fido only allows the IMEI on their list to sign up for that plan. That means without changing the IMEI, you are not eligible for that plan. I know some of the people change the IMEI on their Iphone just to use that data plan.
well the poster should
explain why they want to change their IMEI no reason just makes it all seem aloof to me!

And that is not "stealing" how?
I have often wondered - I think that it is the RIAA that made it illegal to "break copy protection schemes" - in other words to remove code that was designed to protect a program or music or software. In this forum we "remove" bits that keep us from installing ROMs - technically this would put us in violation of this?
We get away with it because?
1. it is our purchased phone and we can do with it what we want?
2. we don't sell the software that we make (ROMS)
I am pretty sure that is we change the IMEI numbers and enable someone to hurt provider's revenue stream that this will be the straw that breaks the camels back and they will go after the culprits.
My two bits worth...
proevoguy - the forum will generally not discuss IMEI changing as it is highly illegal in most countries. Please search for "get you sore" for some info on why most people won't assist you on this. Personally I'm not against the technical discussion of IMEI changing, but as it is such a dangerous subject, it's best not to touch it.
I'm going to lock the thread, but leave it visible, so if anyone wants to help you privately they can. Just don't forget to lube up first if you get caught with an IMEI changed phone.

Hey all,
i think i have an good question...
i was thinking to buy an secondhand HTC Touch HD/Pro or Diamond..
now my question, if the phone i will buy has been reported as stolen,
then the police will send sms floods to bring it back (working on imei)..
can it be true that when i flash the rom of the phone will change and will disable the sms flod of the police...
this is not that i want to buy an stolen phone, but because i dont want my own phone on sms flood, or when i lose my phone, it get reflashed and never get back.
greets,
mark
p.s. my english isnt good, sorry for it, i hope you want u understand me.
Well, to be honest with you... a new rom might disable the SMS (if the feature is not included in the rom), but if the messages are coming into your phone because of the IMEI, I don't think flashing your phone will do you any good. The flash will not change and/or remove the IMEI. In fact, changing this number is illegal in most countries.
Hope this answers your question.
okee,
i though it would change my imei, because i have an imei Number whats different with the one on my box.
when i try *#06# ..
this is on an qtek S200...
can it be that the imei is flashed with another thing/program?
and is it normally, that an htc touch diamond will be sold for 80 euros in the netherlands, secondhand ..?
Hello. I'll apologize in advance for being technologically challenged. I bought an AT &T Tilt (HTC 8925) on Ebay almost a year ago and it worked fine for months. About a month or so ago, I started to get the message "no service" when I knew I was in an area of very good AT&T service. Within a day, I started to get the message "no sim" so I tried the sim in my husband's phone and it wouldn't work there either. So, I assumed the whole incident was due to a dying sim. I got a new sim and the phone worked great for about a couple of months. Then, last week, I started gettng the "no service" message again. This time, I sent the phone to HTC repair since they said they'd diagnose for free. They called me to tell me that the problem is I had a non-HTC supported ROM which ruined my main board and they could fix it for nearly $400. They say even though the phone is under warranty, the non-suppported ROM voids my warranty. They said the ROM was for a TYTNII and not 8925 and so it was just incompatible. Are they taking advantage of me becasue I don't know any better? I bought the phone specifically because it was unlocked and have never had a problem buying an unlocked phone online before. Do you think the person who unlocked the phone to sell it to me could have used the wrong ROM and it slowly damaged my phone or is that just nonsense? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
have you tried to reflash it?
Get the phone back
Hi
I think that the HTC policy is unfair in practice but in theory they are right. There could be issues to do with charging and temperature which could, in theory, affect a conneciton to the mainboard. If HTC are willing to send you the phone back in the same condition as you sent it to them without charging you I would take this option and flash the "correct" ROM to the device to see if this makes any difference to the problem. The correct ROM would be an update from AT&T for the Tilt. The other thing is to get a second opinion from an independent phone engineer if you can find one. It may not actually need a new mainboard but a new SIM card holder. It would be difficult to say that the incorrect ROM would affect a SIM card holder, so HTC wouldn't diagnose the problem in that way.
Hope that helps.
andrew-in-woking
Andrew,
When you mentioned charging and overheating, I did have to replace my battery as well, it just wouldn't hold a charge anymore. I wonder if you're on to something. I did ask them to send the phone back to me so I should have it in a few days. The other reply I got to my question suggested "reflashing". I really don't know much at all about all of this. Is there a link to how to flash it? I did update the ROM based on a suggestion from HTC using the link on thier website. Before I mailed the phone to them, they thought I might have a radio problem so they suggested the ROM update. I did the update for the tytnII. My phone doesn't have any AT&T software on it, it looks just like the TYNT II photo on the HTC website. Based on that, what would you suggest I "flash" and do you happen to have a link to step by step instructions?
from that it sounds like htc told you to flash a kaiser rom the a TILT phone
hey..
my LG P500 Optimus One with Froyo 2.2 is sim locked in Vodafone RO, and won't accept other service providers.
Is it possible to unlock the service provider without generated codes using IMEI?
VODAFONE charges 40e for unlock code (and others, about the same price), and i bought the lg for less than that, on a 2 years contract.
rooting and installing custom fw will unlock my lg?
please help. thanks in advance.

In this thread guy needs help "How to enter unlock code" into his device. If I tried enter this code, my original FW from LG said me, that is not possible do that, because of "Device is not customized". So, I think, that flashing of original FW can unlock phone.
On other side - operators can lock phone in their network based on IMEI and because IMEI is not changed during flashing, it's possible, that id will not work.
I would like to test it for you, but I haven't locket phone. Here are sellers not allowed to sim-locking their devices.
//Edit:
I just readed some stuff around and it seems that this information is stored into GSM Module firmware.
Here is Czech thread (google translator) were guy trying to solve sim-locking. I just posted him PM if he have somewhere on net how-to manual for do that.

it's simple to enter unlock code (just call 2945#*500#) and it's simple to get unlock code for about 30$ ) that's not what i'm after.
i think it's foolish to pay 30$ for a code to unlock a phone which i paid about 40$. (why did i make a 2 year contract then...?)
interesting stuff those cz guys try. ill be watching that thread..
PS: i officialy hate google for not implementing proxy settings :|
I don't think your going to unlock your device with a custom firmware. In the others Android's LG cells, it wasn't possible.
There is a "simple way", you can try to find an app that allow you to remove the battery to swap your sim card. There was one for the LG GW620.
You can also wait to buy an cheap unlock code on internet, or a "Magic Sim" (I'm not so sure it's going to work, but it's 5 bucks).

swapping sim is an interesting idea..
i tried it with no success. you don't need an app.
it's true, if you remove the battery the phone restarts, when plugged in.
but if you keep android "busy" he won't restart (i kept my finger on the screen and slided between pages while i removed the battery and swapped the sim)
no luck the phone doesn't say service provider locked like when i restart with the simcard in, it just doesn't register the network "Emergency calls only".
The lockscreen says "no SIM card"
it doesn't change when i swap again with the original.
thank's for the tips..
i'll dig up on magic sim. see what's that about.
Same here.
Would really like to find a way to network unlock the P500.
Paying the phone's price all over again isn't fair.
Not having root access isn't fair either, but security comes first.

Thanks god that in our country doesn't exist any kind of this stupid thinks like operator's network locking. It was prohibited by law.
It is really hard to find some tool, that can this do. Especially if this stuff are stored in GSM module. You need special technique and resources to reach goal.
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie with smart phones and a newbie with the P500... hens "I don't know if what I will say applies" in unlocking the phone.
A funny thing happened to me the other day - the phone was charging in the USB port of my computer - it was not in "removable memory" mode. The computer had to be rebooted and I forgot to unplug the phone from the USB port.
Guess what... I had no more service after rebooting the computer - had to call up tech department of the cell company. They made me manually choose their company in the settings menu. Don't know why but the cell phone company info was "unprogrammed" after reboot.
So as I said - maybe this will give you guys (who know more than me for the moment) a lead to finding the solution of this thread's question.
Cheers !
Phratt
Salut. Si eu sunt roman, am avut telefonul blocat in vodfone si ma intrebam acelasi lucru.
Hi im from Romania too and i used to have the same problem. I sent the phone to a knone cellphone hacker from Iasi and he unlocked my phone for 30 lei (around 10 bucks).the phone had a lot of that vodafone bulls*** with vodafone default homepage, vodafone app for i-dont-know-what and romanian android menu.so after i recived the phone from that guy it was unlocked.but i think he might flashed a new OS because my phone was empty, like new ,and i loosed the default romanian language.,and it was having a newer version of sofware on him.it was like a neverlocked phone xD.So i think if you will flash another rom, like that one for europe in your case ,i think it will unlock your phone.oh yea ,and that bastards from VodafoneRomania asked me for 50 euros !!!!! I i'ved unlocked it for around 10 euros ) .
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
So bad for the SIM swapping, I was using an app to avoid the cell to restart, and It was well working on the LG Eve GW620. But after, LG has given me a Free unlocked LG Optimus (here in France, LG has posted a news to give Free optimus one. I was just asked to fill a long form to make a review between the Eve and the Optimus).
Something good to do would be to ask someone to monitor using adb the functions used when unlocking the P500 using an official networking code.
Did any one to free unlock a LG P500 locked on Vodafone RO ???
I know that there is a GSM Unloking Tool called Vygis that can unlock this phone by flashing it with a unloked firmware...but I don't have it.
Any other options???
I too would like to share my experiences with locked phones.
My Lg optimus one was locked (untill last week) to a spanish mobile provider (movistar); at first i tryed to flash an unbranded firmware, then a custom rom but with the same result: locked phone.
The reason for this is that unlike certain "dumbphones" which can be unlocked via s/w, my Lg was locked through imei. In these cases there are only two solutions(some one correct me if I'm wrong), ask the mobile provider to unlock it (not always possible) or buy un unlock code online.
I used the second method, it cost me just above 10euros and it was realy fast.
Havent had any sort of problems what so ever and now i can use any sim card.
I've bought my P500 for 620 RON (145~150 Euro) form o guy from the internet (a site similar to eBay but only available in Romania),new, not used, already unlocked, with LG Warranty (not Vodafone Warranty, even that i've got the full pack (phone + silicon/rubber case) )... And Yes it was blocked to Vodafone network, but that guy unlocked it in same price (something like a bonus)...
I'be bought it from here: hxxp://www(dot)okazii(dot)ro/catalog/51741498/lg-optimus-one-p500.html
This phone can be unlocked in services, for around 9~17 Euro, but I'mnot sure about the Vodafone Warranty, you might lose it ...

hello,i'm a new member here and this is my first post.Since my Galaxy ace broke i'm looking to find a new phone and i think i'm going with the desire s.I found this guy on ebay who sells his used desire s as faulty and claims it can't make or receive calls inside the u.k but after i asked him he said that it will work ok outside the u.k.Is that possible or is he lying.I really need some help on whether i should or shouldn't buy this phone.Thank you in advance and sorry for my english!
Well you can try to ask the guy where, more precisely, the problem comes from...
If it's a hardware issue (antenna?), i don't think the phone will be able to receive or send calls, neither in the UK, nor anywhere else. On the other hand, if it's a ROM / settings / software issue, it will probably be possible to fix it by installing a new ROM...
However if you need to change your phone, it's just my opinion but I'd rather go to a more recent model like the One S or One X... Not the same price though I agree.
Hope this helps
It could be the stolen phone and blocked by networks in the uk
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
try flashing the newest Radio Image.
Flashing a new radio won't do a thing if the phone is registered as lost or stolen, which is going to be the case unfortunately.
EDIT: If you get the IMEI number from him you can check it at http://www.checkmend.com/uk/ for a small fee.
If it is not getting signal in the UK only then it is because the phone has been lost/stolen and the owner has rang up the network and they have put a block on it
I would say its stolen and the original owner has reported it to there provider who has blocked the phone.
If you buy it you could be buying stolen goods, mrbishi is right get the IMEI number and check it.
